ashen spindle
#

also there are tons of people who get paid to buy an item, review it, then keep it as marketing payment

ashen spindle
#

no regular people

#

random people

thick pine
#

Right

ashen spindle
#

to have real accounts making reviews that are bought basically

thick pine
#

That makes so much sense

#

Jesus fuck

#

The ignorance is astounding

ashen spindle
#

hey @pale sigil would you mind showing an example where some companies wanted you to buy stuff, review it and give you the money for it?

#

this aint some conspiracy that I make up because I'm bored lol

pale sigil
#

Can do

astral haven
#

statistica makes you pay for newer data, but heres 2018

pale sigil
thick pine
#

So 60% of their sales are taken at a loss?

pale sigil
ashen spindle
#

no because not every fake review is a human, there are also completely fake reviews

thick pine
#

Yeah that’s just not feasible

astral haven
#

youd be absolutely shocked how many types of products are marked up well over 300%

ashen spindle
#

^

astral haven
#

1 sale pays for 1 fake review and restocking twice

pale sigil
#

Highest profile companies I've seen were Anker, Syncwire, Meross, Urgreen and um

thick pine
#

You mean cost to price??

pale sigil
#

Gimmi a sec

astral haven
#

my last job gave that as a stat every time i scanned a barcode

thick pine
astral haven
#

nope

thick pine
#

Clearly you are

astral haven
#

as a store employee, i can assure you that no i am not forgetting about that

#

thats just what we paid for the product vs customer price

thick pine
#

Yeah you would be shocked how FEW products make 300% profit

astral haven
#

and i often checked amazon (which we price matched) and they had the same price

pale sigil
#

Trying to remember the companies

#

But essentially

ashen spindle
#

I think you underestimate how many budget products exists where 5$ is 300% profit

astral haven
pale sigil
#

If its Chinese it's very likely they pay for reviews

#

Or did

thick pine
#

Sorry I’m not into budget products

pale sigil
#

Even Anker which I can pretty much verify personally

#

Only difference being i return if its shitn

ashen spindle
#

there are cases of chinese companies trying to get paid reviews from independent reviewers in the west because they didn't understand that's not done here in that way

pale sigil
#

budget

#

I've done a product over £100

ashen spindle
#

this isn't something we make up that is something extremely common in other parts of the world and just not liked here lol

pale sigil
#

I have had American companies offer too.

#

Most of the time they use "agents"

astral haven
#

define american company lel

thick pine
#

I mean I understand that businesses pad their review stats, that’s common sense

pale sigil
#

Vs directly

thick pine
#

Just not to the extent that you probably assume

pale sigil
#

They don't just pad they pay for 5 star no less than x wordsn

pale sigil
#

Some even pay just for rating

#

I get over 50 product offers a day lol

thick pine
#

Sounds awful

pale sigil
#

All from bras to high profile tech

#

I just don't bother

thick pine
#

A bunch of garbage filling up the garage

pale sigil
#

Also Anker is hardly budget since its quite a big tech company

#

Same with Urgreen

thick pine
#

Yeah I have never heard of those

pale sigil
#

Ha

ashen spindle
#

ok, have you heard of intel? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8guiJegE8PE

astral haven
#

anker makes some good shit
ugreen also makes some very high end chargers

thick pine
#

I’ve been in an intel fab

ashen spindle
#

ugreen makes the usb hubs I use and they are great

astral haven
#

pssh usb hubs
just buy more pcie usb adapters

pale sigil
#

Aye but they still buy review.

thick pine
#

So if great companies are paying for reviews to outshine the shit competition who are also paying for reviews, the more money; the better reviews

#

The more sales=more money

#

Better product = better reviews

ashen spindle
#

what

pale sigil
#

Either way I'm just doing as quin requested, provide proof xd

ashen spindle
#

you do realize the fact that if something is good you might not even pay for the good review, if you have more money to start you can buy reviews to look better than a better product that doesnt have more money yet etc.

astral haven
#

you can get a near zero interest loan for a business lel

thick pine
pale sigil
#

Hence why so many reviews are fake

ashen spindle
#

yeah you just agreed to my point lol

thick pine
#

So what else are they supposed to do in this ā€œfree marketā€ illusion

ashen spindle
#

who is they

thick pine
#

Just ignore the review culture?

ashen spindle
#

are you talking about the consumer or the companies

thick pine
#

All these guys who are buying fake reviews

astral haven
#

find a professional reviewer

pale sigil
#

Also

thick pine
#

The marketing

pale sigil
#

My profile was top 5% review views

ashen spindle
#

I never said anything about marketing people should never do that or anything like that?

pale sigil
#

Till I got purged

#

Shit is insanely effective

ashen spindle
#

I just said they are useless reviews because most are fake

thick pine
#

Clearly not

ashen spindle
#

you literally just agreed????

thick pine
#

These companies invest more into fake reviews than commercials

#

If what you’re saying is true

astral haven
#

likelyhood is if the professional reviewers have another source of income that you can trace, they probably dont need paid advertising money
and if they make videos you can generally look at them and see what they test about a product

pale sigil
#

One time a company asked me to review a power bank that was half capacity, told em to fuck off, I reviewed the item as 1 star and returned.

#

They offered cash to remove it

#

And one time when my cable went on fire years ago and I left a review (Normal order years before I knew about review stuff) they bribed the fuck out of me to remove it.

#

Which was Syncwire

#

It's not just fake reviews really.

#

It's also paying to remove bad ones

ashen spindle
#

yeah, paying for having good reviews one way or the other

thick pine
#

Yeah but my point is that companies that ship DOGSHIT products like you mentioned above will die

#

Doesn’t matter if they try to pad reviews

pale sigil
#

They don't and have been one of the most popular brands since 2015

#

Anker also is a behemoth

thick pine
#

Never heard of em

#

Samsung is going strong

pale sigil
#

Even meta recommend them

ashen spindle
#

yes if the product will literally burn down the house they are getting removed fast, otherwise no, if the battery charger has half the capacity, most people would never know that because how would they test

astral haven
#

god it took me a while to find it again

#

get one of these instead of pesky hubs lel

ashen spindle
#

lmfao bit overkill for me to switch mouse/kb/mic between two pcs lol

pale sigil
#

Anker is worth over a $1b apparently

#

So ye it's not small lol

vagrant pagoda
astral haven
ashen spindle
gusty kiln
#

Kinda regret getting this specific asrock mobo, 1st pcie slot is at the very top instead of a 1 slot gap

#

Gpu backplate already touching my u14s cooler

#

Newer gpus seems to have beefed up the back plate a lot

#

Dunno if they'll fit if I do upgrade

astral haven
#

get rekt
but also double check
many just have muuuch deeper coolers below the pcie slot without invading the area above the slot

gusty kiln
#

I've been looking at pictures but it's really hard to judge the z-height above the pcb

astral haven
#

also worst case you can either suck in gpu backplate air or blow your hot cpu air on the gpu

gusty kiln
#

I could just get a new cpu cooler

gusty kiln
astral haven
#

i mean turning it 90 degrees

gusty kiln
#

Ah

#

Should have gotten a U12A

#

Sadge

vagrant pagoda
#

though my board isnt much better

#

the x1 is 4th slot, so its a no go with any gpus

#

not many boards have dual type c internal

gusty kiln
vagrant pagoda
#

i went from watercooled to fanless

gusty kiln
#

How was the pump noise?

#

Never had aios or water cooled

vagrant pagoda
#

you linked a 3.2 then a 3.1 lol

astral haven
vagrant pagoda
#

nope

#

ive used all of mine lol

astral haven
#

same

vagrant pagoda
#

i evn have a internal 3.0 hub

astral haven
#

i have 2 of those lel

#

well we both have the exact same problem...
so not thaaaat special lel

#

good correction lel

vagrant pagoda
#

oh i have 2.0 portsd

#

but who wants those

astral haven
#

i ran out of both 2.0 and 3.0 ports 😦

#

and i only have 1 port open on my hub

pale sigil
#

I have a front USB port I can't even use

frozen ingot
#

I luv my hub

#

such handy

pale sigil
#

Having a CV1 was hell

vagrant pagoda
#

i real;ly really want a 20gb hub that is all c

#

i want it so bad]

pale sigil
#

Took up 3 USB 3 ports

#

And my mobo was micro atx

vagrant pagoda
#

if you dont want controllers bound to headsets

#

i have 6 steam resicers

lol

pale sigil
#

True

gusty kiln
pale sigil

I guess I just don't miss sensors

#

Lol

marsh glade

I could use a powered hub

#

Someone send me a few links so I can impulse buy šŸ˜›

pale sigil
#

I had still have a powered hub

#

Just don't use it

vagrant pagoda
#

imagine using spdif with hdmi exists

astral haven
#

3.5 optical spdif >>>>> toslink

astral haven
gusty kiln
#

Most people use usb dacs

vagrant pagoda
#

imagine using compressed audio instead of pcm

astral haven
vagrant pagoda
#

only stereo

frozen ingot
#

same model can also be had in 10 and 16 ports

vagrant pagoda
#

and 48khz

frozen ingot
#

this one has been super stable

vagrant pagoda
#

get better cables and hubs

astral haven
frozen ingot
#

heck my G29 works even more reliably via the hub than directly into the mobo dogekek

vagrant pagoda
#

mine are all plugable brand, no issues

astral haven
#

toslink can carry uncompressed 8 channel 192khz

vagrant pagoda
pale sigil
#

I have loads of ports nown

vagrant pagoda
#

iu can transmit it over a coat hanger if i wanted to

astral haven
pale sigil
#

And also I only use

Keyboard, mic, mouse and apple dongle

astral haven
#

its a pro audio standard that many boards dont support called ADAT

frozen ingot
#

this one remains powered when you shut off your system

#

so can still power usb lamps or other gadgets, or charge devices (although not very quickly)

pale sigil
#

I mean I hope so if its plugged into the wall

vagrant pagoda
astral haven
frozen ingot
#

I've had wonky hubs before but those were passive ones

#

had this one for about a year now and not a single hiccup so far

astral haven
frozen ingot
marsh glade
#

Maaaaansennnnnn halp

pale sigil
#

To be honest, Im probably going to need a decent hub when I move room.

#

I plan to have my pc far away from my desk

vagrant pagoda
#

actual toslink is only 3.1 mbit in spec

gusty kiln
#

Do a linus with thunderbolt

astral haven
vagrant pagoda
#

still isnt in spec

#

lol

astral haven
#

every single realtek chip supports 192k

frozen ingot
#

you can find them elsewhere, iirc amazon has them too

astral haven
#

toslink is a subset of that sure, but its still within a standard

pale sigil
frozen ingot
#

digital out is the only acceptable use for the internal realtek mm

vagrant pagoda
#

hdmi can do 7.1 at 192khz 24bit

astral haven
#

besides
you dont really need more than supporting both 48 and 44.1

astral haven
vagrant pagoda
#

nope

#

pcm

frozen ingot
#

I run 48 on my system with an rme interface

#

is fine

astral haven
#

besides

#

find a single even remotely decent dac that supports hdmi

frozen ingot
#

I thought the audio was carried over digitally in hdmi ports

vagrant pagoda
#

every high end reciver or dolby/dtx decoder

astral haven
#

gotta remember that the hdmi ports on decent dacs are for i2s not actual hdmi

gusty kiln
#

There is a 800 dac from smsl

astral haven
gusty kiln
#

With hdmi

frozen ingot
#

am really not adept on that standard tho

astral haven
gusty kiln
#

Lemme check

astral haven
#

i2s allows for 1mhz+ audio with high bit depth but it is noooooot using the hdmi standard

gusty kiln
#

Oh yeah it's is2

astral haven
#

its actually using the video wires of the hdmi cables, not the side band data lines

gusty kiln
#

Nice to see newer dacs with usbc now

#

Though big boy dac still use usb ab

vagrant pagoda
astral haven
#

as far as I know, the only current method of staying within the digital realm for audio mixing using computer ports is by somehow converting to toslink, or by piping stuff into software (which adds latency)

astral haven
#

and by that i mean one that doesnt use an internal surround processor chip, then internally convert back to a digital standard

vagrant pagoda
#

mine is a arvus

pale sigil
#

Nothing should be using micro USB or other bs anymore

vagrant pagoda
#

it decocdes to pcm

astral haven
#

pic

#

ill bet that you are paying well over a grand and not getting a dac if you want new

vagrant pagoda
#

it isnt a dac

#

it just decodes

astral haven
#

tho i am curious, i would like something that can convert hdmi to several stereo toslink

#

so pics pls

vagrant pagoda
#

aes3 is the same tech

#

just over xlr

astral haven
#

yes but its not a dac
still provide pic of what you are using bc i do want one

#

i use a motu lp32 and i would love to see if i can expand my system with more channels, and it would be sweet to be able to use native hdmi, since i use my chromecast alot

#

and my hdmi to toslink adapter is hot garbo

vagrant pagoda
#

i have a Mytek dac for my front 2 channels

#

and some china dacs for the rest

astral haven
#

what model arvus?

vagrant pagoda
#

7.1 one

#

so 8 channel

#

bought it from a theater

#

with my amps

astral haven
#

oh dear

vagrant pagoda
#

they actually threw it in not knowing what it was

astral haven
#

was about to ask if you know the original price

#

so lol no

vagrant pagoda
#

yeah

#

i know

#

they didnt know what it was

#

i paid less than the retail for the decoder for the amps

#

was a stack of old yamaha power amps

#

sadly none of the cool ones with vu meters

#

built like tanks though

astral haven
#

ye

vagrant pagoda
#

id kill for a like p2200

astral haven
#

im headphones and iems only

vagrant pagoda
#

to go with them

astral haven
#

speakers are kinda too big and variable for my liking/living situation

vagrant pagoda
#

look at that sexy beast

astral haven
#

sweet lel

vagrant pagoda
#

one day

astral haven
#

probably needs new vacuum tubes /s

frozen ingot
#

yamaha from that era look dope as heck

gusty kiln
#

Rip all those thumbnail potential

vagrant pagoda
#

i almost bought a mx-2000 before i went surround

#

and i hate that i didnt still

#

prob the best looking transistor/mosfet power amp ever made

gusty kiln
#

What speakers are you running

#

It won't be on v day

#

Shame they didn't do radeon vii on 7/7

#

But it would have been even more DOA

#

At that point

astral haven
#

i know they mentioned it then

vagrant pagoda
#

they are bi-amped

ashen spindle
#

could still be before or after the 14th, all they really said is the launch date that was on the specs isn't them announcing it

gusty kiln
#

51 lb each

#

Chonk

ashen spindle
#

but I do think they probably planned to launch it on that day but maybe cant

gusty kiln
#

MS need more time

astral haven
#

also vii more stands for Vega II

vagrant pagoda
ashen spindle
#

yeah thats why they did the radeon vii in february, matching the dates there too

gusty kiln
#

Ah

vagrant pagoda
#

ns 1000's for surrounds

#

not the monitor ones though

#

just the cheaper surround sound ones

#

and my center is a pair of ns-10s in one cabnit

gusty kiln
#

The CEO of EVGA probably has the most gigachad speaker set up

astral haven
#

lol no

vagrant pagoda
#

i plan on moving the 1000s to actual 1000s

astral haven
#

just one of the most expensive

vagrant pagoda
#

but they knock offs look the part

#

yeah its these

#

i have the stands in storage

astral haven
#

the most gigachad speaker setup is the guy who has an absolutely massive array that is mostly custom built

gusty kiln
#

Got a pic?

#

I remember someone making a speaker out of a shit ton of hd600 drivers

astral haven
gusty kiln
vagrant pagoda
#

one day

#

they go for almost 1000 a speaker these days though

gusty kiln
vagrant pagoda
#

yeah its nuts

tropic nacelle
#

A grand a speaker isn't that outrageous

gusty kiln
#

I remember a Japanese guy paying the electric company for a dedicated power line for his audio equipment

gusty kiln
vagrant pagoda
#

i paid less for all 8 of my speakers than a pair of those

#

lol

#

and prob get 90% of the sound q

gusty kiln
#

I wish i had the space and privacy for speakers

tropic nacelle
#

Depends what you quantify as 90% of it, need mass for bigger impact along with drivers.

I spent a fair bit on my arendal sound setup and can't fault it, it's not a grand a speaker but wasn't far off xD

vagrant pagoda
#

granted i have recabed all of them with actual wood

gusty kiln
#

Planar magnetic speakers look cool

astral haven
#

ah man im so hype, my car is on the way

#

getting an old leaf

vagrant pagoda
#

nice

astral haven
#

insurance is crazy expensive like dang

gusty kiln
vagrant pagoda
astral haven
#

first that i own and pay for

vagrant pagoda
#

azh

#

it will go down in 6mo then

astral haven
#

?

#

you mean get cheaper?

#

yep

vagrant pagoda
#

yeah

astral haven
#

but i just happened to find a 2013 leaf with over 80% battery life remaining

vagrant pagoda
#

but yeah it sucks being young

#

just get old

#

then its like $20 a month for a 90s shit box with no safety features

astral haven
#

literally every single other one ive found is under 60% battery health

astral haven
#

regardless its a pain to keep borrowing cars

gusty kiln
#

Are you going to install a charger at home?

astral haven
#

nope

#

no need

vagrant pagoda
#

and my insurance is 20 bucks

astral haven
gusty kiln
vagrant pagoda
#

because im old

astral haven
#

ah

#

well a 90s shitbox also probably doesnt cost much to total lel

astral haven
gusty kiln
#

Jeez

vagrant pagoda
#

not when you get hit

astral haven
vagrant pagoda
#

adding coverage for my car was like $2

#

the rest is liability

astral haven
#

lel ye

#

well im under 100 a month total

#

and thats with comprehensive which im probably gonna remove soon

vagrant pagoda
#

yeah

#

if its your first solo insurace

#

it will drop a lot in 6mo withouth accidents

#

the best thing to do

#

is dashcam

astral haven
vagrant pagoda
#

front and rear

astral haven
#

first thing i plan on installing lel

#

getting one of those digital rear view mirrors with dashcam functionality

vagrant pagoda
#

i love my rearview one

#

yeah

astral haven
#

what model do you have?

#

starvis is just a product line

#

its been around like 8 years+

vagrant pagoda
#

i habe this

astral haven
#

and does it work with 256gb cards?

#

ah sad 1080p

vagrant pagoda
#

the rear is 1080

#

they are analog

#

i want to upgrade to this

#

but the front cam is lower

#

but they are both usb

#

so i wonder if i can just get a better camera

astral haven
#

interesting

#

yea im not so interested in a me cam, but it looks pretty good, might get one of the lower models with just 2 cams

vagrant pagoda
#

also @prisma crag i think all the starvis 2 cams are 200+

#

and no one makes a rearview one

ashen spindle
crisp granite

inb4 Detroit

vagrant pagoda
#

but yeah

crisp granite
#

Very exotic, you can really smell the rotting carcass of the American dream

vagrant pagoda
#

you can get 2k+2k dash cams

#

or 4k+1k

#

dont think any of the chipsets will do 4k+2k or 4k+4k

#

also all the 4k ones are 30fps

#

unless there is a brand new one

#

lol

#

all the duis

fam this is a keyboard server

gusty kiln

Lol what happened

astral haven
#

šŸ”Ø Banned

gusty kiln

Damn missed it

#

The whole 12pin thing was only for the 4090 right?

astral haven
#

the burning 12 pins yes

gusty kiln
#

Thanks

crisp granite
astral haven
#

but the 3090 and ti had 12 pins that didnt burn

crisp granite
#

The logs are a MESS

ashen spindle
#

the 4080 likely also has it just nobody has a 4080 dogekek

gusty kiln
astral haven
#

also remember they only burned if you didnt seat the connector properly

gusty kiln
#

Surely the 4070ti is safe

ashen spindle
#

ehh

#

maybe

gusty kiln
#

Cuz this will always be a small fear going forward with nvidia gpus

crisp granite
gusty kiln
astral haven
gusty kiln
#

Might buy those 3d printed cable support too if i do get a 40 series

ashen spindle
#

future revisions hopefully have a revised connector

gusty kiln
#

Yeah

tropic nacelle
#

It's a poorly designed connector, human error that can happen easily is a bad design really.

Mine was fully seated but can be removed and didn't click, physically no gap in the two blocks so it's seated as far as possible.

Definitely a bad adapter spec either through manufacturing or the actual design doesn't allow for enough tolerance

astral haven
tropic nacelle
astral haven
#

its not downward pressure

tropic nacelle
#

The only give possible would be the connector popping off xD

astral haven
#

are your cables bending up away from the gpu or hanging down?

astral haven
tropic nacelle
#

Bending up a bit, I put it in without the side panel on its own as I was aware of this issue

astral haven
#

its just like a 24 pin

tropic nacelle
#

Not at pc at the moment and it's not much room on the FE

#

I did look all around and it's fully seated, it's plastic on plastic so cannot go further in

astral haven
#

so is my 24 pin yet you still need to push on the lever to get it to click

tropic nacelle
#

It can only click if there is room for it to go further in though

astral haven
#

plastic is not a perfect rigid body

#

at a minimum the lever itself will have some give

tropic nacelle
#

Sorry what do you mean by lever? It's pins and a hook no?

astral haven
#

hook is on gpu

tropic nacelle
#

Let's just say this, wasn't a problem on 8 pin cables, not a problem on the 3080 fe 12 pin cable but is a problem on this 4090

astral haven
#

theres a sort of straight plastic peice with a hook on the end on the cable that i call a lever

tropic nacelle
#

I will have another look when I'm at the pc thanks

#

I have it evened out and it can't come out unless I moved cables but if I didn't know to look I wouldn't have taken noticed

astral haven
#

yep

#

again the issue with the 40 series is the connector doesnt latch properly

#

it requires going out of your way to connect it properly

tropic nacelle
#

Yeah that's why I mean it's poorly designed or bad manufacturing tolerance.

It's not just a catch all for human error as it shouldn't require that much effort to secure

crisp granite

misty saffron
#

i have a great question

#

why doesn’t cash include any security features like nfc tags

#

with a read only message signed by the government

ashen spindle
#

you mean why dont they add that into paper money?

misty saffron
#

yes

ashen spindle
#

cost I imagine but idk

astral haven
#

because they cost moeney

misty saffron
#

but on the upside you’re basically ending counterfeiting

reef patrol
astral haven
#

nfc is literally data storage, metal and plastic strips can also do that

misty saffron
#

nfc tags chosen for the ease of verification in my case

#

also they’re piss cheap

astral haven
#

they are nowhere near as cheap as paper currency is supposed to be

misty saffron
#

honestly i’m very much unsure if the cost is the reason

#

given we still use coins

astral haven
#

coins are relatively cheap too

#

their security comes from the difficulty of replicating them cheaply

#

but a coin that costs $50 to create needs to be created out of eeeexpensive materials

#

btw paper money is easy to verify

#

you need 1 motor, some rollers, a uv line source and a line sensor

#
  • controller chip
reef patrol
#

And a pen with certain ingredients to check in person in retail.

astral haven
#

more expensive than an nfc reader obviously

astral haven
reef patrol

Most don't šŸ˜„

astral haven

they are very very cheap

Listed as a known issue by AMD and the person even came back to say they improved by removing Nvidia, ALWAYS use DDU if changing GPU manufacturer (I'd say even new GPU. Really).

It's the same when you change platform from Intel to AMD or vice versa, windows is terrible at managing this change so a lot of problems tend to stem from refusing to reinstall on a platform change as something is left over and conflicting.

Still think AMD needs to focus more on VR performance in general. Oculus link not working is probably more on Oculus/Meta as they need to update it and it launched over the holidays.

@ashen spindle what a joke! This is why I genuinely hate the start menu these days, I don't want these silly integrations I want a basic app listing that doesn't need to be checked by things.

I miss windows 7 or even 10 for this simple 'just works" setup. Windows 11 feels like such a step back overall in terms of stability and just speed, at least for me.

ashen spindle
#

thats not a win11 thing, affected 10 too

that is just the result of not having QA anymore

reef patrol

Hold my beer said Windows 7 - WIDGETS

tropic nacelle

Nothing wrong with widgets that's a choice. The fact my start menu has ads by default and somehow search doesn't always go local it wastes time looking online before it gives me the SETTING I'm looking for !

Forgot windows 10 added it, bad memory. I miss windows 7 the most, as you say QA is just gone.

Vista was a diamond in the rough, I liked it and it was the foundation change needed for windows.

I mean compared to XP it was vastly better assuming you were on reasonable hardware.

The problem was the initial 6 months or so with printer manufacturers and everyone else kicking off and being very slow with drivers . They don't like change.

It was a necessary evil, it was a big transitional shift that led to windows 7 which is peak windows (imo).

Anyone know about bias lighting? I work and game at my desk basically 12 hours a day maybe more. The room is dark to avoid glare. My monitors are stacked vertically. I recently upgrade my main display to an LG C2 OLED. I was thinking about adding bias lighting to the back. Guess my question is how I go about it. I throw bias lighting on both monitors so as to create bias lighting beyond all screens. The real question is if power both bias strips from the main display? # pale sigil I just use revoult

Yeah I have both but revolut added fees in the end so stopped using it, it's been going downhill for awhile (in my opinion), the exchange rate seems better on Monzo for total.

Either way both are better than most mainstream banks or Amazon's own currency conversion

still loom
#

Revolut don't have fees for exchanges

#

Or formerly TransferWise

still loom
#

Ā£1000 is free to exchange per month

tropic nacelle
still loom
#

Over 1k

#

I have a metal plan so I don't get fees, just the monthly charge šŸ™‚

#

The monthly fee for Metal is worth it as all Irish banks charge for everything in your normal bank

tropic nacelle
#

Ah I don't pay, I couldn't find the benefit same as Monzo plus it doesn't seem worth it.

My NatWest one has some small fee but you get money back by just opening the app to check balance once a month and 1 payment so you end up with net gain and bonuses

still loom
#

i.e. my quarterly fees for my irish bank is around 50 euros

#

And I barely use it

#

So Revolut Metal >

tropic nacelle
#

That makes more sense then, I'm in England so a bit different!

still loom
#

Yeah UK banks are free for personal use

#

That is not normal worldwide though

tropic nacelle
#

Is it not? TIL then, I assumed base bank usage was free as they make money off of loans etc.

still loom
#

Nah, most countries charge for everything

#

Even withdrawing money from any ATMs

#

Yes, withdrawing your own money costs

ashen spindle
#

at least here they only charge for a withdraw is it from another banks atm

still loom
#

Countries like Japan you would go to your bank and they will charge you like $5 just to withdraw money

#

So some countries have really high fees, some low, very few have no fees like UK šŸ˜‚

#

So count yourself lucky

pale sigil
#

@still loom@tropic nacellethere is a fee

#

I know this because i buy in a different currency every month, usually its 0.5%

#

but their exchange rate is good

still loom
#

Up to 1000 euro is free, it's 0.5% thereafter

#

For normal and plus plans

#

Metal and Premium have no fee

pale sigil
#

yes, normal and plus

still loom

pale sigil
#

#

Lol

#

Now i know not to use it during the weekend

still loom

the fee is quite large

still loom
#

The fee is 13.99 I believe

60 euros, you would still be up

#

Yeah 13.99 euro my metal fee is

#

And cashback pays for that

#

Mostly xD

#

Well it's 0.1% for everything in EU, 1% for everything out of EU xD

#

Depends where you are spending your money I guess

pale sigil
#

You need to spend a decent amount to profit from it

still loom
#

I think it's capped at the plan fee šŸ˜‚ So at best you will just get 13.99 or whatever but free exchange rates
