Here it's a 3 month bootcamp with possibility of joining the military proper afterwards.

Definitely depends how the mandatory service is setup.

Shouldn't be doing combat tours but it's perfectly reasonable to have mandatory paid training for potential combat readiness and the opportunity to pick up viable long term skills.

Military doesn't just mean on the frontlines to be fair, there is so much more logistical support and work at home which is vital

You do also get taught the office stuff, but the physical/theoretical training is also mandatory
