v2 doesnt look good
good idea ill go to a hardware store and test out what i want - oh wait i cant
that too the bigger problem is that im kinda grounded rn
lol
well if you are not an adult yet I think it's quite possible u might switch your grip type
also im dying for the wooting half my keys feel scratchy and my spacebar rattles more than a skeletons bones
I switched from palm to 1 3 1 for some reason
i think 18 is when you turn into an adult
i cant leave my home rn tho
steelseries shouldnt be too bad
steelseries make ok mice
I don't remeber what it was but something about them sucks
do you want any mouse with that keyboard
what an abomination of a mouse lol
ikr
holes + a million buttons
thats more reasonable in buttons
but the holes make me feel uncomfortable for some reason
theyre diamonds
even tho I am using a mouse with holes rn
I fucking hate that shit
I wish that trend would die
im using model o it has holes
and thankfully razer and logitech don't do that
i dont mind it too much its comfortable
lets not talk about how difficult it is to get rid of the dust yeah
I use this abomination btw
wtf
works ok with my mouse grip tho
it looks like a squished cat
one of the things I don't like about it is that it has 0 software so I only get rought dpi steps
no 1000
fk it im going for the deathadder v2
which would be my preffered
just look for a cheap one since it's an older one should not be that expensive anymore
more buttons + docking station compability
v3 doesnt even have a dpi button
how am i supposed to use that for other stuff than dpi
f5
f5 on the dpi button
not for long
for extra mouse buttons I think logitech makes the most comfortable to reach ones from what I know
logitech ergonomic pile of shit
idk how you'd use these comfortably outside of 1 3 1 grip tbh
i use this on my model o too
Again look at the non superlight
4 useable extra buttons
I guess there is no problem then
I personally don't use any extra mouse buttons
scroll wheel down for jumping only
looking at the superlight rn
if that even counts
where buttons
Non superlight
But the superlight can bind extra actions to key + other key
I have back + right click set to close tab
Back + Left click opens a tab
Back + Middle click pauses music
You set it how you need it
I think it is when your parents can't ground you anymore
💀
I don't get it
That's not grounded lel
🤷♂️
idk I might have the rona 2
who cares
it's been a minute since it released 😄
whichever u like best
logitech or razer now
always best to test them out first buy from a store with a decent return policy
Seems strange to intentionally buy a mouse with a virus when you already have one lel
since when did red switches feel that scratchy
Since they used contacts?
Aka forever?
cant get any worse now can it
red switch != other red switch
ah yes
cherry red != other manufacturer linear switch
ok so now i either take the deathadder v2 or the g pro or wait for a different mouse to release
its 3:27 am i think im gonna leave soon
no wait
ok deathadder v2 it is
welp now i know what i want for christmas :)()()(
I really recommend testing the shape first logitech shapes are very safe
deathadder shape is very divisive
ill do it when i can go outside again
i see that
Ye
The gpro feels like a fatter o imo
im out now its 3:30am
The deathadder is very different
Gpro
Every mouse that has been released in the last few months are all gpro copies trying to be lighter n stuff
lol just got fired for shitposting
i said it before and i'll say it again
kiss my ass elon 💋

I switched to windows after Catalina. Never updated my Macs to Catalina lmao
i haven’t used mac since like 2015
i just use whatever newest macos
Funny because I switched to Mac OS X Leopard after Vista because I hated Vista
And now I switched to Windows 10 because I didn't like Catalina 😂
plan to get a macbook pro 14 once m2 pro chips comes on them
I haven't used Mac since 2020
i dislike win10
I've only been back on windows for 2 years
i’m tempted to switch to linux on my desktop as well
thankfully a lot of games support linux now
I contemplated getting the upcoming Mac mini for music production but I might just switch fully from Logic to Ableton
i’ll just not play valorant
play apex instead
Didn't know apex was available on Linux
yeah some major anti cheats are now supported
but it’s up to the individual game devs to enable it for linux or not
Ahhh
ngl id still use macs for anything work/production
kernal level anti cheat has very little hope though
so no pubg
pubg is dead anyway though
I just miss Spaces and Expose on Mac
I miss my Mac workflow
But having 2 monitors for PC helps me cope
you can have multiple monitors on mac though
I probably won't be switching back to Mac since I also moved from iPhone to S9+ in 2018
so idk how that helps
I was referring to how Spaces and Expose helps emulate the convenience of multiple monitors
But on windows you really do need multiple monitors
oh right
If I continued using iPhones, I probably would still use a Mac
i use iphones and don’t have much reason to switch off rn
Because having an iPhone but Windows PC or Android but Mac is just awkward
especially now that they should be moving to usb c
So much hassle
What does spaces and expose do differently compared to say, winkey+tab?
Android improved so much after 2016 that it's actually usable lol
God i remember android in 2012
Pain
@crimson wigeon it's not something i can explain concisely. The work flow is just nice 👌
support Proton more like it ;-; but still, im glad so many work these days :D All thanks to valve <3
yeah i didn’t specify proton because then i’d have to explain what proton is
true xd
But yeah
Apex adding EAC support <3 fuk ye
Epic wont add EAC support for Fortnite because "its so easy to change kernel on Linux"
but..you can also do that on Android, its easy if you have custom recovery installed

Why is it legal for streaming services to just remove a show / series you bought from them without warning or refund
yet if you try to make a digital backup of a DVD that you OWN, its illegal and you could go to jail?
because screw you the consumer
Think backups are fine, just don't sell it

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 16GB video card provides a firm visual definition of the word "disappointing," mostly because its performance does climb from the RTX 3080 in meaningful ways, but the price climbs in lock-step. This leaves the 4080 simply stagnating versus the RTX 3080 whi...
nvidia lost it some time ago
That is true
I mean there is a reason I bought an AMD card despite thinking NVIDIA cards are better products overall
How much slower is it to the 4090?
Yes
At work can't watch
reaches around 70% of the 90
Yikes
I'll stick to nvidia because I don't like to take chances
I'm willing to give amd a shot next upgrade, but people will want several generations of stable drivers
the chance of poopy drivers/stability
I never buy top of the line cards anyways, which seems to be the only ones affected by this issue
/shrug amd has been mostly fine for me
rdna1 has been mostly stable, rdna2 has been just as stable as nvidia and they even went back to fix old stuff like minecraft performance etc,
not less than with nvidia at least
Stability is absolutely fine unless your ram is unstable which would be on you
if there is nothing on launch for amd that is an immediate issue you are as likely to have anything as with nvidia
they've been wonky for so long I have severe trust issues with amd when it comes to drivers
they have been not wonky for also very long
stop spreading FUD
it's valid to see a trend and expect that to continue, but it's been not the trend for quite some time
AMD actually seems to have somewhat started to care about drivers last 2 have been whql
wat
drivers without whql? what are you on
lots of amd gpu drivers are not whql... or have been for a long time
seen a fair share of issues with 6900xt among others, including amds own forums
be more specific
not gonna tell other people what they should buy or not, if it works for them cool
what sort of issues
I mean NVIDIA while less frequent also has driver issues on occasion
performance issues, crashes, stuttering etc
And my guess is the most recent issues were due to a rewrite to improve opengl performance
ok so self reporting that could also happen on nvidia?
Which I welcome
yes, I just see a lot less of it with nvidyuh
keep in mind one "issue" that become obvious at one point were people having crashes going from nvidia to amd, becuase the lower driver overhead meant they had more fps in the dx11 title so their ram/cpu OC was not stable anymore
like that sort of issue doesnt mean the drivers are bad
Also keep in mind Nvidia users will have less issues if their ram is unstable and they just don't know
And I wouldn't say that is AMDs fault
not saying all those issues are not related, just that we really dont have anything to indicated that for this/next gen the drivers are much worse than nvidia
yes, I know nvidia takes better care for older cards, but that is hardly relevant for deciding on a new gen gpu
well regardless the end result is more headaches for the user overall
The only headache I had was with the amd replay shit
Their drivers work but the extra features need work
I have 0 doubt Shadowplay would be better
I just don't have the patience for potentially more problems or the budget to keep throwing money at it so I just find nvidyuh to be the safest option for my needs
ok but the point is there is nothing that supports your theory that for this/next gen you have a higher chance of having more issues with AMD
that doesn't mean I like nvidia
well also like you said, nvidia takes care of older gpus better
and I typically hold on to it for years
no I meant that in the sense amd dont care for pre RDNA stuff atm because they are still catching up on features and all
I dont mean they drop support after a new gen comes
Yes Nvidia sure takes care of older hardware better. My GTX 770 is such a giant fucking pain on Linux! The integrated graphics in my i7 2600K worked so much better it's not even funny

Linux + NVIDIA
alright linux argument heard, judged not relevant
Oof
🙂
the solution is stop using linux
anything my point was not that if you hold it long you get worse support, quite the opposite with "fine wine"
but yeah am aware nvidia are assholes with price gouging and being proprietary everything
Even on Windows it's a pain when some stubborn games choose to use it instead of my main AMD GPU for... reasons..
I think they're a shit company in every regard ethically
but I don't want to put down a lot of money on this stuff and I just want the highest possible chance of shit working without a hitch, so nvidia it is
am glad others give amd a chance because competition is nescessary
I agree that's why I chose AMD even tho I much prefer NVIDIA features
my main point with that was that on a 580 or something you will find more people having issues on a new gen
am also hoping intel will catch up because even more competition is needed
hence while its valid to see if that trend continues, the current trend does not have any sign of you having less issues on nvidia
like don't get me wrong I've had issues with nvidia too, my old gtx780 started freezing/crashing on me, some hardware issue
but was also a really old card when it started fucking up
what you get in the end I really dont care about, just want to make clear that unless we find some big issues on launch week, drivers will be pretty much the same between the two
700 series is def an L
fuck sometimes I hate being on ultrawide, I literally have no clue if I would still be CPU bottlenecked or if the 4080 level would be as far apart as on 4k lol
well the issue is this is the benchmark so idk how much more the cpu bound matters in the actual game lmfao
Just have the best cpu and not worry about it
define best :p
1440p most based resolution
zen4 vcache coming to you at CES 😛
Yeet
240p most based resolution
1080i best resolution
x3d cpu best for factorio, but a 7950 better for other games /shrug
Inb4 zen4 v cache maxes out at 8 cores again
Probably
which is really fine
and if they have better cooling it will also not boost lower this time so it literally never loses to any other zen4 cpu
What cpu are you on now Q?
It is but some ppl are going to be mad
5600x, wont upgrade unless I get one from work lel
Based 5600
AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS
oh you finally got one?
ah, yes i did! Zephyrus g14 2022 version
Asus 🤮
working as expected?
Other than isomer I don't know anyone else with a 5800x3d
I've been thinking of upgrading my computer for some time but am having second thoughts because I'm kinda bored as shit with videogames
try rimworld again 😉
As long as my doesn't break I don't see a reason to upgrade in the next 5 years
no?
genoa? is that the obscure name for the new amd cpu gen?
16900k will win
tbh zen 4 3d cache is quite interesting
wonder how much cache can they stack on a smaller node
Heh... I see that LTT and GN are polar opposites as usual.
smth smth country https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Genoa
The Republic of Genoa (Ligurian: Repúbrica de Zêna [ɾeˈpybɾika dezeːna]; Italian: Repubblica di Genova; Latin: Res Publica Ianuensis) was a medieval and early modern maritime republic from the 11th century to 1797 in Liguria on the northwestern Italian coast. During the Late Middle Ages, it was a major commercial power in both the Mediterranean ...
Ltt = nvidia shill
Gn reviews seem to be the most unbiased
They shit on both amd and Nvidia not equally but proportionally to how much dumb shit they did
Or rather not dumb
HUB also mostly dislike the price for it just like GN
But greedy
Does ltt use a different writer for every gpu review?
LTT shills for nvidia one episode then disses them the next one
anthony wrote this one, idk who wrote other gpus reviews
I think its funny because the LTT 40 series reviews have tried to be more about the tech less about the deal, whereas usually that would be the oppsite with GN and co going more into the tech
and price aside it is good shit
During the mining boom comparing prices was rather pointless
well also before that
i personally didnt mind the ltt reviews of 40series and they didnt seem too biased
I dont have an issue with it, I just find it odd LTT is basically ignoring this part https://twitter.com/VideoCardz/status/1592456057120763904/photo/1
HUB seems pog if you're after esports fps benches
Tbh didn't watch them - this was only my observation from the 30series high end reviews
They updated the method afaik for esports benches - they're done on low setting now
Yeah idk prices are insane. I get that the product not taking into account the price is good but I don't have infinite money and I suspect few do
also I think techpowerup might've done an oopsie because all the AiB cards are also tested already lol
So price is always a factor at least for me
usueally nvidia only allows reviews of the FE for launch
Hmm I don't think that was the case for lower end models
They're still using a 5800x, making 1080p results a little weird again
Tpu
ah yeah
I mentioned the same during the 4090 review
yeye
it is a bit odd
using a evga x570 dark and then just a stock 5800x with pbo
Even shill foundry put "poor pricing" in their title
Dunno their workload but retest with newer hardware shouldn't take too long in between reviews
They would need to use old CPUs to do an apples to apples fps test though
they test A LOT of aib cards so retesting would take a while
Nah just rerun all the other GPUs
so I think its fair to keep it same and just keep it in mind when using tpu for gpu results at 180p or so

is this good
id go for 14TB but sure they are good
would not get below 7200rpm unless you use it for a NAS
i just wanna download games on it
Still debating to go unraid or be a basic bitch and get a off the shelf NAS
for games ig it's fine, although seagates are known to fail more often
fail?
wdym fail?
any storage device can/will fail after long enough time
Oh boy
Just remember that is server application
Consumer drives probably would fail faster under these conditions
wd drives are generally more reliable
are they good?
I'd say so
would you know anything better or..
i mean my seagates havent failed on me but i also didnt run them for 30million hours like backblaze
just make sure it's a cmr drive
that list is completely useless for private uses in gaming pcs
cmr?
I have had a Seagate drive fail me before
ive had wd fail on me before
are 5.400rpm drives a thing again?
Never left
Just remember to kept them cool
Drives can die if they are too hot
for a NAS you dont really need super high speed
normal airflow should be good enough to keep it cool no?
true
Some hdd mounting place are an afterthought
But yeah at least some air flow is enough
what happens if it gets hot
Under normal use they probably won't get that hot
Unless you live in the sahara or run an fx cpu and 4090
higher chance of failure if you run it at hotter temps than normal for long periods
lol
Just get 10gbe
Some people edit videos off a nas
are they loud?
150MB/s i see on a 5.900rpm disk
like can you actually hear them
drives can be loudish but that's why you keep the nas in a different room
New drive will probably not be loud and become louder as it ages. Or at least that's what mine did I only use 1 mind you
Slowly replacing all the spinning rust
hmmm
Can't wait for the day where i can get a 4tb ssd for 200
i want to upgrade my aging nas.. perhaps next year
Prebuilt or homemade?
synology, i have run my own linux nas, too much work
Synology are about to release some new models
But people are mad because it uses embedded amd
and power consumption is also a big factor
im mad that synology and many others that offer JBOD expansions for their own nas systems just swap pins on connectors so they arent compatible with anything but their own stuff
Oooff
literally had a call once with a synology rep cause we as a partner wanted to use a jbod of theirs for a normal win server... he said the pins are swapped and wed need to build a custom adapter
Synology also starting to hardware lock some of their platforms
Is that the one that performs on par with sata ssd?
same platters
New?
i remember when drives hit 99 for 1tb pre tiawain tusnami
yea
Goddamn
man this relative difference really makes it apparent there will be at least one 4080 ti and the 4080 really should be more like 800USD
the price is because ship from china
Oh nice
my current bulk drives are 10tb easy stores lol
i got these to replace most of them
Relegated to backups?
i ahve tape backup!
You got those tape machine that are 3 grand?
i have 15 tapes, 12Tb each

Those HP tape drives look hella sus
What interface does it use for transfer?
SAS
the crazy thing is
the libary dosent talk to the drives at all
you tell it to load a tape and it dose
and then the drive just takes in the tapoe
when you unload a drive, the machine legit hits the eject button

Does it rewrite data or just write what is different when you do periodic backups?
Or whatever
Idk how tape works
Other than gigachad storage size
tape shows up like any removable drive
i have a backup folder that is kept on my unraid
it dose daily incremental and weekly full
via duplicati
and at the end of backup each day it moves the backups to a second folder instead of deleteing
and that goes to tape
then at the end of the week, to goes to next tape
that is set for 10 weeks
after that is writen, it takes a full backup and writes to a seperate tape
which i keep for ever
and just add more tapes
Duplicati dose the actual backups from windows
i really need a second lto drive
incase this ever dies
You got an offsite backup?
Fedora is always trying to jump on the latest hype train
things like Wayland and Pipewire are just fads that will die out soon
🤦♀️

they have blade version of xboxs

i think i might get them for my desktop

thats the default if the resolution changes between launches
I just enabled the resolution compatibility mode or whatever and It works great

Runs at deck native res
they are so much money but im so tempted :'(
So the one thing to be aware of is if you are using them where you can't see your surroundings for an extended period of time it does eventually make me nauseous

The Wacom link takes 2 USB + 1 HDMI/dp and connects to the USB c
no
i wans a usb DATA to type c video
not hdmi/dp
adapter stacking time
ill just wait unit i get a x670e
either someone makes a usb 4 one
or i just get the ACE
or go rdna3 which has native usb c
im not going to game on it
and i use triple screen as my main monitor
with a 4k as a 4th
so id need a dedicated gpu for just the glasses that dont game
x670 i can use igpu
maybe
or even usb 3.2 with dp alt
i would be surprised if an enthusiast board had usb 4 with video to the igpu
unteresting
well then there you go
the ace has a type-c 10g with dp alt mode
the advantage of the adapter tho is you can unplug the usb and not get the audio to come out of the rather bad built in speakers
not really a problem on windows tho i suppose ye
i only use it on android and steam deck both of which are rather poor for audio handling
the x670e hero is the same
2 usb 4 ports
igpu
hdmi igpu
no one is using a tb display on desktop lol
you arent docking with it
its more for expasion
so no need for dgpu over it

its a .rar that was free for 10 min
what
For some reason rars always seem more sus to me
.rar file
I mean that sounds like a virus yes but wtf do you mean "was free for 10min"
I don't think you can do rar files
but that definetly is a virus lol
like its a tool to do smth that idek but they released it for free for 10 min
what does that sentence even mean
yes sounds like a massive scam
havent ran it yet
do not do what he says
But that's most likely a virus
LMAO apparently its a tiktok remove invis body feature 💀
too lazy to read what it was
a rare file wouldn't have any detections if it didn't work
just found out 😭
wtf is wrong with you
what are you even talking about
yeah randomly downloading stuff you dont know definitely will get you a virus
k
like I was talking about if you can get accurate virus detections if it's a zip or a rar
yes you can
idk what you tried
Outdoor motion sensors actually exist! Local Smart Home hub's cost £25, Apple Homekit support is a thing, and Zigbee is actually cheap. How did I miss this??

Why does wifi7 exist even
We just started getting into wifi6 support
Barely into wifi6e
Why wifi7
because shit apparently has to progress and modernize even though noone really asked for it
because that's technology
^
What's wifi7
probably just wifi 6 but renamed
why do you hate stuff getting better
Like are there even substantial improvements over 6e?
Cause wifi6 releasing first was a "scam" cause all the good stuff was supposedly in 6e and 6 was just a marketing codename
I bet there will be a replacement for usb-c announced as soon as the first usb-c iphones launch

So how's this any better over 6e which is just starting to get adopted
I bet Wifi 7 will be the same situation that carriers did when they told the phone to display 5G but the actual connection was still 4G
????
More features, higher bndwidth
my 4G goes further tho..
That's not how that works
thats what happened for a while
Oh
Like I understand the reason for 5G to exist, 4G is painfully slow and the bands are incredibly populated leading to slowdowns
the phones said they were connected to 5G but the connection was still 4g
I don't understand why Wifi7 needs to exist just yet
Yes but wifi connections don't show a generation...
Scaam
true
yes wifi is not mobile network connection, wifi 6 is not 6g...
They will be needed soon
VR already needs it
i know
So an incredibly niche and borderline stagnant technology needs it
Anything else?
More... important one?
should we also not increase pcie generations because right now we dont need pcie6?
Longer range, higher bandwidth for everyone else
you do realize stuff needs to be out first before you can fully use it and not have it be 100% utilized on launch
Honestly, yes
Invent SATA4 first
tbh if there's anything I'd be half interested in upgrading my rig for it would be VR
It's called nvme
like do you just want to continue paying for stuff that does not get better ever
NVME
Quadruple the SATA speeds at least please
NVME is 16x faster?
How does NVMe replace SATA
Last I checked my mobo has barely any nvme connectors and a shit load of SATA
modern mobos usually has like 3-4 nowadays
Wow its almost like nvme ports are alot higher bandwidth so you don't need many?
any that still have 6 sata ports are usually set up that if you use more nvme slots 2 or 3 sata ports get disabled because they share lanes
so it literally replaces it
getting less common for people to slap half a dozen drives in their main rig these days too
people with lots of storage needs tend to go for external/nas now
Also intentionally buying a board with the old tech will get you the old tech
Consumer options generally keep the old ports around untill they are no longer needed
The only reason sata is around is for hdds which have gotten slower not faster over time
Yo guys
I'm messing with my wifi settings
Is 40mhz wifi bandwith for 2.4ghz good?
No it is very very bad
should I set it to 20?
no but I can set it to 20 or 40mhz
Well play a game
See if you notice
Or try the aim trainer thing on steam
lmfao what
Yeah
if you are on 2.4 ghz the best bandwith is 20 mhz
Ok but what about 5ghz
Well it depends
Yes but for all I know you could have 40 wireless devices
20-80mhz
in general terms, nothing is always the best because wifi is convoluted yes
Wifi better than bluetooth
I don't lol
Okay then
id personally go ht20 for 2.4 and ht40 for 5ghz
Ty
Generally the better your signal is, the better higher numbers are
The more interference the lower numbers better
Also the closer you are the better the signal
Just live next to your router
Ethernet on pc
It's in my room
My room isn't too big
I got 2 routers in my house lol
Then set as high as you can
80 or 160 for 5ghz
Yup
Nah even better solutions exist, router palm surgery
the only things that are connected to my wifi is my PC and my phone
does your router have an auto setting? many just detect it can can switch themselves now
because I personally wouldnt want to go back to change it if it does become an issue after a while lol
lol
Not having issues so far
Faster connection but shorter range
lol W
Just do 5ghz with 80
Thanks dude, this is literally what I wanted, love you
If I'm far away I can just connect to the other one that my family members use
Also you have it in bridge or ap mode right?
So routers do multiple things
Wouldn't a media bridge disable wifi?
Quite the opposite
Like connect the other router to my router or something like that?
Are they a mesh?
Mesh?
How does internet get from one box to the other
umm it doesnt
my mom's boyfriend pays for the other wifi router
We haven't connected them in any way
Ah
2 different packages
Seems a bit of a waste but alrighty then
lol
2 connections for double the speed!
Naw the other one is for the family
If they aren't bridged it's halving the speed basically...
is it a second router from the same connection or do you have 2 internet connections that you pay for
2 internet connections
??? why

So you pay 2x the money and get 1x the speed twice
idk how to connect the routers lol
I'm well aware lel
Minecraft
Wouldn't work
I didn't see a difference in speed when I moved here
You need a serious router to do the load balancing
I have no clue what any of that means lol
the point is you could just pay for only 1 connection and have it cover everything
Yeah I guess I could
What you call a router is actually a router + ap + switch + firewall +DHCP/dns server
Yeah that sounds about right
To use 2 connections and get double the speed you need a fancy router
And the all in ones don't support that
Ok
If everyone is happy now, then it's all good
Yeah everyone is happy
well
actually
unsure if it was zyxel or tplink
one made a dual wan router
(the consumer router not enterprise)
Dual wan with built-in Wi-Fi?
ye i saw like 2 or 3
Interesting
I wonder how well it works considering you need a relatively powerful system to actually use that properly
Also now that my phone has gotten the new offline text to speech recognition it's gotten a heck of a lot better
/shrug that i cant say
My company spends a heck of a lot of money on a hybrid cloud solution and it does not work very well...
One of my last jobs clients were the same, hated it so much....
Our problem is that we just have too many sites to manage to use a more bespoke solution
I mean a $20 machine with a $10 nic can do dual wan with pfsense
Yes but how long does it take to configure
about 5 minutes
do the stock setup
set two wans
after its done
goto gateways, group both gateways
No no I mean including getting a full sdwan setup
Our system requires zero technician time
you said you needed a fancy router for multiwan, or powerful
We send the request to purchasing, we send an email to our rep and then the boxes appear at the site pre-configured
thats all my anwser is for
but you can easily do premade vpn and routing with pfsense and deplot on site instanly
Well pfsense is fancy
And x86 is powerful
pfsense is not fancy
not even close
enterpise routers are way fancier
and to way more trick hardware acceration
That is generally untrue
Most enterprise routers that are in a similar size bracket are generally significantly less fancy
Some of them don't even have web interfaces for the majority of their configuration
Very few support network storage
Define in hardware
not running in software code
high end 100G+ routers literaly burn routes into fpgas
By that definition literally zero routers run in hardware
Nope
FPGAs are too slow for that
They use special purpose risc cores
yeah xilinx totally lied about netowrking being over half of thier total sales
Often with single digit instructions
just a fabrication
Xilinx is majority special purpose accelerators not FPGAs
no they are literally fpga based networking
They were the biggest in FPGAs and they have fpga'd everything
But they have pivoted away from that into special purpose
They do have FPGAs as part of their systems yes
