The government is made up of ruskies

crisp granite
#

and the government
is not all ruskies

stark bobcat
#

Would also be nice if putler could just stop doing the unjustified war thing ☹️ like bruh groceries were already expensive enough

frozen ingot
#

I mean, taking away mcdonalds, levis, gucci, instagram and whatnot is hurting the russian government/economy, but the largest kick in the balls is to the everyday russian

#

can't really get around that

misty saffron
#

taking away gucci is hurting the everyday russian??

#

i’d love to be that one

frozen ingot
#

its an example

misty saffron
#

not a very good one

frozen ingot
#

basically every western brand they've grown accustomed to

#

or service

misty saffron
#

also, mcdonald’s literally just renamed and works as before

crisp granite
misty saffron
#

same for most of the brands

stark bobcat
#

U know u could take away the car without airbags and you'd actually improve the life of some in the long run

frozen ingot
#

I think you're missing the big picture here, its still trying to turn the life of the population upside down as much as possible

#

whether successfully or not, that's part of the goal

misty saffron
#

yeah well so far we’ve just adapted

astral haven
#

The thing is
If every single Russian puts down their guns, the war is over
Period
Regardless of what Putin wants

crisp granite
#

...except that's not going to happen

astral haven
#

If people are mad enough it will

crisp granite
#

you can bet on at least ONE Z-tard being out there

frozen ingot
#

well there's signs of that increasingly being the case

stark bobcat
#

We can dream

frozen ingot
#

so far not nearly enough though

misty saffron
#

your way of thinking is western and you have no idea how a police state works

crisp granite
#

the russian people
are victims

misty saffron
#

same for most western government officials tbf

crisp granite
#

if nothing else

misty saffron
#

i don’t blame you

frozen ingot
#

am well aware its a police state and its very understandable to me that russians hasn't "risen up" or protested more

crisp granite
stark bobcat
#

I agree with hollow living under a police state any sort of retaliation must be tough

astral haven
#

Police have families...

frozen ingot
#

who would want to under the threat of jail or worse

astral haven
#

If it becomes a big enough problem, revolution happens

crisp granite
#

...

astral haven
#

Russia being the number 1 example of it lel

frozen ingot
#

those few brave souls that do have major balls

misty saffron
#

lol

#

or do you suggest to rise up and end up in jail?

#

pay a hefty fine that’s more than the average income?

astral haven
#

That's the point of peaceful protest?

frozen ingot
#

I literally said I get why they won't

misty saffron
#

peaceful protest in russia

#

hahahaha

crisp granite
#

with live bullets

#

as god intented

stark bobcat
#

Hmmm well I wouldn't say my dad is a shitty person but back in the gdr he was "protecting" the berlin border from escapees. I'd say people just don't know any better

frozen ingot
#

yeah no a peaceful russian protest is one where the protestors doesn't get beaten half to death before getting dragged into the police van

#

because they are getting dragged into that van either way

misty saffron
#

good, you’re slowly getting to the point

#

do you see how that’s impossible?

#

do you want to starve for 2 months because you decided to protest?

frozen ingot
#

yes, I've known this for decades

crisp granite
misty saffron
#

sorry, 2+ months

crisp granite
#

it'll be really hard for Putin to keep doing his thing if all the educated and capable ruskis ain't there to pay taxes

misty saffron
#

or end up in jail for years

frozen ingot
#

which again is why am saying I very much understand why russians aren't protesting more

misty saffron
#

so why exactly would putting pressure on the public that way work?

frozen ingot
#

and that the west trying to make their lives shit won't really work in that regard

stark bobcat
#

I think it's an incredibly tough situation for russians opposed to what is happening

frozen ingot
astral haven
misty saffron
#

the stupidity of western government officials is genuinely killing me

#

how fucking dense do you have to be to just say “go protest”

astral haven
crisp granite
#

martyred

misty saffron
#

you are supposed to know something about something yet your skull is as thick as a brick

stark bobcat
#

I think there is something to be said about citizen unhappiness being able to lead to change somehow but how exactly isn't clear to me

#

In east germany it was one guy saying something stupid on tv and suddenly everyone is in Berlin wanting to cross the border

frozen ingot
#

I mean sure, disgruntled populations have risen up against their governments before, but it will take a whole fuckin lot for that to actually happen in a place like russia, you'd basically have to drive people to the point of either starving to death or lashing out

crisp granite
astral haven
#

Tbh I think y'all need to take western civ again...

frozen ingot
#

and even then its kinda doubtful

crisp granite
#

once it gets to that point, all bets are off

astral haven
misty saffron
#

anything related to economic sanctions won’t work in russia to change regime

#

ever

frozen ingot
#

the economy would have to be weakened to the point where the government could literally not pay their police/security forces

misty saffron
#

raising awareness however will

frozen ingot
#

and that likely won't happen

astral haven
misty saffron
#

the brainwashed people just think west is bad, and they’ve now showed their true face by taking their luxuries

crisp granite
misty saffron
#

how is that related?

crisp granite
#

it took shortages of the basics

astral haven
stark bobcat
#

Extrapolation directly from history is very tough as no situation is 1/1 the same

misty saffron
#

stalin brainwashing and modern brainwashing are very different things

stark bobcat
#

Times have changed

crisp granite
misty saffron
#

you cannot extrapolate anything that happened before to now

crisp granite
#

it will take dire straits to produce the results of a similar revolution 105 years ago

stark bobcat
#

I wouldn't wanna be a chinese citizen for example with all the supervision

astral haven
crisp granite
#

...working on domestic industry...have been for years...

#

they still have CIS members doing robust trade

misty saffron
#

oh yeah it’s also very silly to think we are in stone age

astral haven
#

Russia has always been working on domestic industry yet it's built on a foundation of western tools

misty saffron
#

which have and are being phased out for domestic tools

#

that’s true

frozen ingot
#

russian economy will not reach the point of complete collapse as long as they're still making money on natural resources, in dire state sure but its enough to keep people fed

#

and keep homes warm and lit

astral haven
stark bobcat
#

Let's not kid ourselves here there are plenty of countries who will still do business with russia

#

A big one being china

astral haven
#

Yep

frozen ingot
#

large parts of asia in general

astral haven
#

And tbh china has crazy manufacturing and tooling expertise

frozen ingot
#

as well as many places in europe

#

and these places are getting a heck of a deal on russian gas and oil now

astral haven
#

As long as china keeps working with Russia, the western sanctions probably will end up not working

frozen ingot
#

so they're unlikely to give that up anytime soon

#

which, again is why sanctions and corporate pullouts will mainly make average russians lives less cheerful

#

but it will not drive them to the point of starvation

stark bobcat
#

And then china is also working on semiconductors in the end russia and china will just become closer than ever before but honestly I'd prefer if we didn't do business with russia after what it has done

#

Getting closer through trade has been a failure when it comes to russia

#

It worked wonders in europe

astral haven
#

Tho china also can't make their own semi tooling

stark bobcat
#

Yet

astral haven
#

It's doubtful that china will make continuous liquid metal lasers in the next 5 years

frozen ingot
#

Chinas technological advancements are happening extremely rapidly

stark bobcat
#

5 years is peanuts

astral haven
frozen ingot
#

they're learning very fast how to mimic those tools though

astral haven
astral haven
#

They are learning how to buy them tho

frozen ingot
#

which they in turn copypasta

astral haven
#

Which don't work

#

I've been keeping up on semi manufacturing news

#

Liquid metal lasers are insanely hard to make and china can't do it

#

At least not yet

frozen ingot
#

I mean china was largely a third world sweatshop even in the big metro areas two decades ago, the difference that's happened in 20 years has been ludicrous

#

I dunno I think they'll figure it out quicker than a lot of people think

astral haven
frozen ingot
#

there's also a lot of information and knowledge they're sitting on that they won't disclose to the west

stark bobcat
#

I'd say the important part is china has also been advancing a lot academically

astral haven
#

The point is the tools to make the tools are harder to make than the tools themselves since they have to be even more precise

frozen ingot
#

tbh the way the ccp operates I think it would be in their interest to make it out as if they know less than they actually do

astral haven
#

Well they can know all they want

#

But theory and practice are very different

#

If theory and practice were the same, the us would have more than 2 facilities with euv manufacturing capability... And they would have had them 20 years ago

cursive summit
#

Seems Microsoft is about to launch something again

#

Anyone know if Surfaces are any alright

stark bobcat
#

Surfaces are good depending on what you are looking for

cursive summit
#

Wtf is Microsoft SQ3 processor

#

Oh good lord it got shafted in reviews

raw zephyr
#

microsoft is far behind in the laptop sphere

cursive summit
#

Hold on a second

fair gull
#

when did we upgrade to sphere

cursive summit
#

The Snapdragon (Microsoft) SQ3 chipset is a custom-built laptop processor from Microsoft, based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 notebook processor family.

stark bobcat
#

🤷‍♂️ for a windows with proper pen input it's decent

cursive summit
#

Smartphones don't even have 8 gen 2 yet

stark bobcat
#

Most other windows have terribad pen input

cursive summit
#

How come Microsoft already managed to get their hands on the 8 gen 3

#

Also why are they running Windows off of an ARM processor

#

Like, why

stark bobcat
#

Because more power efficienct. The problem is windows on arm sucks dick

#

Not a problem with the architecture but a problem with the software

cursive summit
#

Okay I misunderstood, I thought that Snapdragon 8cx was similar to Snapdragon 8

#

They are not, 8cx is a Microsoft only part

#

Performance isn't.. craptastic though

#

Still far worse than any Alder Lake-U parts though

raw zephyr
#

only apple has been able to deliver usable arm-based laptops so far

stark bobcat
#

And they'll charge at least 1000€ I promise you

cursive summit
#

I find it really weird Microsoft has actual fans who stan for Surface laptops

#

Based on what I'm seeing they are just not good

shadow minnow
#

Overpriced especially

#

Though good point some make is that it’s on purpose due to anti competitive stuff

raw zephyr
#

microsoft is still behind here, they will get there eventually

shadow minnow
#

Since considering they also make the OS, they have it “easier” to make a cheaper good product than other companies.
Which could lead to some lawsuits and such probably.

stark bobcat
#

I think surface laptops would be extremely attractive, if they had better battery life and repairability

shadow minnow
#

Basically Microsoft could do with laptops what nvidia is doing with GPUs to their AiBs rn dogekek

stark bobcat
#

I like their design language

raw zephyr
#

on x86

ashen spindle
stark bobcat
#

THEY ARE GLUEING CHIPS TOGETHER

cursive summit
#

So, what does 6 MCDs give us?

#

Lots of CUs?

#

I am a little bit OCD'd though

#

Why are they offcentered AND spaced so badly

#

Couldn't they just make the space a bit bigger so they wouldn't fuck with people's OCDs

ashen spindle
#

ok the nvidia fanboys came up with a good name

#

Radeon Dead On Arrival 3 RDOA3

cursive summit
#

Dead on arrival eh?

#

I wonder what AD102 stands for

#

Arrival = Dead102

ashen spindle
#

ehhhh I give that a 3/10

cursive summit
#

I am excited for RDNA3 parts though

#

I want to see what they were working on behind the scenes

#

Mainly the RT performance improvements

ashen spindle
#

as for why it's not leaked, most likely because just like zen4 it's a live presentation that gets recorded and then played an hour or so later online

#

gives tech press an early view and they get content out once the online video finishes

stark bobcat
cursive summit
#

I am interested why Angstronomcs said this "Unfortunately, our A0 performance profiling results were not indicative of production samples, so we have refrained from detailing our findings publicly"

#

Did they have pretty underwhelming performance?

#

Cause this would correspond with Kopite's findings where the Nvidia shill said that "AMD perf looks bad"

ashen spindle
#

means they just had preproduction stepping and those can be very different

#

different stepping can do a lot

#

its basically a hardware bug fix, can range from almost no impact to doesn't boot on old stepping

stark bobcat
#

I think I gotta bring some bricks into my seminar to throw at the ppl giggling behind me

#

As if studying maths wasn't hard enough already

shadow minnow
#

Interesting

cursive summit
#

So it's good on Arc

#

Shit not on arc

#

Cause the headlines so far were that XeSS is bad

#

My 27" 1440p NanoIPS display arrived

#

Replaced the 32" 1440p VA which went to my waifu

#

I have mixed feelings

#

It's a lot sharper cause of higher ppi

#

But I liked the free real estate size of the 32"

#

I am really inclined of making the new boy my secondary monitor and getting a curved 32" later

#

Black levels are not a problem though, contrast might be just 1000:1 but it's pretty cool looking

#

Although I can't really feel much difference between IPS and VA

stark bobcat
#

Sharpness isn't a measure of fidelity. There is such a thing as oversharpening

ashen spindle
#

was the VA a new samsung VA panel?

#

if not the ips has a shit ton less black smearing

cursive summit
#

It was an LG VA

#

One of their budget ones

ashen spindle
#

left is VA, see the black smear behind every ufo?

cursive summit
#

I am aware, yes

#

I suffered through that

#

The LG's dark smearing was really bad though the display was uncalibrated

#

If I turned off a few settings and tweaked the R/G/B values, it became a bit better

#

OOO this display is sick

#

Absolutely no ghosting

ashen spindle
#

you said you cant feel much difference so I wasnt sure

cursive summit
#

Doing the UFO test rn

#

It's crisp af

#

Main difference is the feeling of sharpness

#

The LG was 32" so, a bit blurrer I suppose

#

This is 27" and feels really sharp, almost small

god this just makes me see deckard release asap lol

shadow minnow
#

What is deckard?

cursive summit
#

Valve's next VR shit

#

Next gen VR

#

Supposed to be a combination of a goggles and a PC I think

#

So it renders the game for itself, no need to connect it to a PC I think

#

Which is kinda nuts considering it has to work with games like Half life alyx

ashen spindle
#

late on that

cursive summit
#

I like how AMD's answer to Raptor lake is not cutting prices of 7000 series

#

But cutting price on 5800X3D

#

The X3D parts are nuts

shadow minnow
#

They’d need to cut 7000 a lot

cursive summit
#

Too early for that

shadow minnow
#

5800X3D is great just no upgrade path

cursive summit
#

5800X3D still slaps Raptor Lake

#

So AMD doesn't really need to do much for now

stark bobcat
#

Who would want 7000 series rn I just don't get it

ashen spindle
#

raptor lake also has no upgrade path

cursive summit
#

Wait for next gen 3DVcache to launch

ashen spindle
cursive summit
#

Wait for inflation to subside, hopefully

shadow minnow
cursive summit
#

And in like march cut the prices of 7000 series

shadow minnow
#
  • going from DDR4 to DDR5
#

Like you can get 12400f and upgrade to 13600k

stark bobcat
ashen spindle
cursive summit
#

We all can wish

ashen spindle
#

you can't use ddr 4 and ddr5 on the same board...

shadow minnow
stark bobcat
#

Inflation will continue until morale improves

ashen spindle
#

so your upgrade path is that you can replace board and ram for 5-10% gains....

#

wow such upgrade

#

that's not how anyone looks at upgrade paths

vocal cipher
#

I don't even see a reason to upgrade 3700x atm tbh

ashen spindle
shadow minnow
#

But yes if you already have am4 then Intel makes no sense currently

cursive summit
#

If you have AM4, AM5 makes little sense either

#

Performance uplift isn't there, and costs of upgrading are high for what you get

shadow minnow
#

True

#

If you have some really old platform with DDR3 then considering AM5 May start making sense dogekek

cursive summit
#

Not even

#

I wouldn't bother with AM5 until next gen Ryzen

#

Or if Vcaches are amazing

#

Until mobo prices go down and processors are priced sanely, AM5 sucks

ashen spindle
#

dont know if its real, wont watch the video, but this makes me a meta fan lmfao

shadow minnow

Well if you plan to upgrade your cpu it may.
As AM5 has an upgrade path unlike really any other current platform

shadow minnow
stark bobcat

Studies have been done that show vr isn't good for the development of coordinating

Either way, audio technica high end always seems hit or miss

#

Mostly miss

cursive summit
#

The specs are really good though

#

Equipped with two (Lch/Rch) ESS DAC ES9038Q2M

#

That's a good DAC

#

Adopts Nisshinbo Micro Devices’ flagship MUSES05

#

I have never heard of MUSES though

#

Solid double DAC

#

So, it might not be shit at all

#

Only thing bringing it down is the wireless nature

gusty kiln
#

Man still 7 more hours until RDNA3

cursive summit
#

Can't wait

#

I am waiting for that "one last thing"

#

"This is 7950X3D absolutely smoking our brand new 7950X at 2x the performance over all, launching this January for 1999$"

ivory marten
# stark bobcat Wireless things are a scourge on humanity

depends; for example I use the Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless at my PC and it's really convenient to move around my room while not having to worry about the jack always brushing against me, and since they have all 3 types of connection (3.5mm jack, Bluetooth and 2.4GHz), and it's surprisingly also extremely low-latency over wireless; it also comes with the benefit of being able to take the batteries out and have them replaced, and you can actually tune them on-the-fly with no software needed, you only need the doc which is also it's transceiver

cursive summit
#

It does not depend

#

Wireless is a scourge

#

It makes people think that audio sounds shit

#

Guess what, audio sounds amazing

#

just wireless ruins it

stark bobcat
#

Just put batteries into anything at this point - doesn't use electricity doesn't matter just waste some more lithium and other precious metals

cursive summit
#

Cause of the damn wireless mania my phones lost the damn headphone jack

#

Now I have to buy a wireless DAC or a damn dongle

#

How about you fuck off and give me my jack back

stark bobcat
ashen spindle
#

wireless does not ruin sound, wireless tiny IEMs maybe

cursive summit
#

Wireless does ruin sound

ashen spindle
#

my wireless headphones are great, just not something for on the way with them having a base station dogekek

cursive summit
#

What do you run

halcyon moss
#

wireless != bluetooth

ashen spindle
#

sennheiser hdr180

#

yup, its RF not BT wireless

cursive summit
#

I don't like any kind of wireless

#

I hope you compare your HDR180s to some proper wired headphones some day

#

Wireless does not sound good

ivory marten
ashen spindle
#

wireless does not make it sounds worse, it's the same fucking data that gets turned into sound

#

it sounds worse if for battery savings or such they need to reduce it

cursive summit
#

Packet loss

stark bobcat
#

Well the wireless products still need to handle the amplification internally which isn't ideal

ashen spindle
#

bruh I'm not sitting on the other side of a 10meter steel wall

ivory marten
cursive summit
#

Ring me when they invent a proper functioning wireless headphone that's lossless

ashen spindle
#

if packet loss was such an issue you could not do most internet things on wireless

cursive summit
#

Supposedly aptX HD is supposed to do that

ivory marten
#

in comparison to the DT770 Pro

#

but the Arctis Pro also cost a fortune

ashen spindle
stark bobcat
#

While I am not at all concerned about the dac internal to wireless audio products the amp is another matter

cursive summit
#

Someone's trying to compare arctis pro to wired Beyers?

#

God damn

ivory marten
cursive summit
#

There are more things to sound than just FR graphs

stark bobcat
#

And personally I don't like them very much

#

They are very fatiguing

cursive summit
#

DT770s are weird

#

Either peeps like them or not

#

I think they are the R&B headphone

#

Supposed to be really bright and honestly, stupid

#

Dead neutral or bust

stark bobcat
#

Dt770s frequency response is ass imo

#

I use most of my headphones over these

ivory marten
# cursive summit Dead neutral or bust

I'm more of a '"this needs a bit more bass" kinda guy, because I fucking love when there are certain songs where the bass adds a certain "epic" feel to them

stark bobcat
#

Quality of bass is very important I love bass but muddy bass is awful

ivory marten
#

out of all wireless headphones that are also lossless and not high end/audiophile, I think that the Arctis did the sound the best, like everything sounded flat, I had to manually add some thump to them

stark bobcat
#

That FR is not flat

ivory marten
#

the bassline is, the top-ends not so much

#

but that flat bass-line really does stick out

#

when I first put them on I was like

#

"wait, this is all the bass there is by default?"

#

it was surprising to see the bass really flat or close to flat-ness when most "gaming headsets" all have some way or another a lot of bass

stark bobcat
#

This is the most used gaming headphone

ivory marten
#

and tbh idk how many audiophile headsets there are that are also closed-back (I only knew for sure that DT770 is one that's why I picked that one), because I know that most of them are open-back but that is a no-go for me because I don't want to let other people hear what I'm listening and I have other people live in my house and my PC is not really "in my room" cuz I don't have a "my room"

#

there is also the Audio-Tehnica I guess

stark bobcat
#

Closed back is a nono when it comes to audiophile headphones mostly

#

Open just sounds better

ivory marten
#

yeah there's only so few that are audiophile

#

and so since open-backs are a no-go for me, I don't got much choice (I also don't like that they also let other sounds in, like external noises)

stark bobcat
#

E-mu teaks are the ones that come to mind

#

Very few good closed back headphones

ivory marten
#

I know

stark bobcat
#

I like semi open

ivory marten
#

Beyerdynamic and Audio-Technica from the audiophile brands and then the Arctis Pro in particular and I guess the Astros from gaming brands are about all that I know are good

stark bobcat
#

Both beyers and audio technicas closed backs kinda suck imo

#

Just because they make something doesn't mean it's good

ivory marten
#

perhaps, but they suck less than whatever else other options there are

stark bobcat
#

The m50 is so bloated

#

The 770s I already talked about

vagrant pagoda
#

Gonna get mad flak

stark bobcat
#

Emu teaks are the only ones I'd consider at all

vagrant pagoda
#

I love my Bluetooth IEMs for gaming if I need headphones

stark bobcat
#

You do you

vagrant pagoda
#

Positional audio is really really good

#

Idk why

#

Which is saying a lot because my actual setup is a real 7.1.2

stark bobcat
#

I mean there isn't really that much to gaming audio the biggest differences will come from how the game processes the audio

#

Ray tracing would be the dream

gusty kiln
#

I use these for gaming

stark bobcat
#

Cursed

#

Comparative gaming with speakers isn't a good idea

#

You are probably just experiencing the fact that headphones>speakers for most games

vocal cipher
shadow minnow
#

Hmm where could i find some good arduino breadboard kit with some more advanced parts like MOSFETs as well that doesn’t take as long to ship as aliexpress stuff does?

stark bobcat
#

Hmm I wish sense of smell would help in games

#

My sense of smell is cracked

#

We need smell o vision so I can smell the stinky gamers camping in a corner

vagrant pagoda
#

Now in stereo games sure

#

But most games actually support surround sound natively

stark bobcat
#

Most games are made with headphones in mind

vagrant pagoda
#

But because of consoles, surround sound support is good.

stark bobcat
#

Games like cs and valorant aren't on console

vagrant pagoda
#

Cs has surround sound support

#

No idea about valorant

stark bobcat
#

And yet headphones>speakers for these games

#

Cs also has terrible audio processing

vagrant pagoda
stark bobcat
#

No one who is serious about these games uses speakers

vagrant pagoda
#

Because you can't haul a surround sound to a match

#

And I'm not saying it's better

#

I'm saying it's good

#

I also haven't played CS in 10 years

#

But sound design in AAA games is really good in surround sound

astral haven
#

And it's 8 years old

#

I solidly prefer it to my hd6xx, and id even say it's slightly better than the 560s

vagrant pagoda
#

Warzone/mw had amazing surround. Only shooter that makes me want to try 4 height for Atmos

#

Shit flying over makes you want to duck

#

But I can definitely tell front to back sounds like a dome

#

Where left to right sounds flat

gusty kiln
stark bobcat
#

I never said it can't be good just saying headphones are better

vagrant pagoda
stark bobcat
#

As I said comp games

#

I don't play aaa shooters

vagrant pagoda
stark bobcat
#

If I say comp games my metric is how well you'll hear footsteps

vagrant pagoda
#

Doesn't matter what game, a good set of speakers will kill headphones in total sound response.

stark bobcat
#

What does that even mean

#

For enjoyment sure speakers will be better

vagrant pagoda
#

Frequency response

stark bobcat
#

Must be some pretty terrible headphones if they don't cover 20hz-20khz

#

How do you quantify any frequency response as better aside from if there are obvious flaws such as prominent dips at certain frequencies which competent headphones also don't have

cursive summit
astral haven
# vagrant pagoda Doesn't matter what game, a good set of speakers will kill headphones in total s...

Yea that's incorrect
A surround setup is heavily affected by your room, and thus the surround audio needs to be highly generic
Also games don't yet support Atmos, so the exact positioning of your speakers isn't defined and thus could be very different from how it's mastered

Finally the hrtf of games is often over optimized to make the sound sound even more directional than would be possible in a surround setup

shadow minnow
ashen spindle
#

nope, no clue

vagrant pagoda
#

Warzone/mw2 and Forza both do

astral haven
cursive summit
#

It's not fantastic, it's literally terrible

#

There is nothing but bloated bass

astral haven
#

That's just EQ 🤷

cursive summit
#

If bass distorting any and all enjoyment is a signature, then idk where the industry is going

stark bobcat
#

Your ears and someone else's will be different

cursive summit
#

That's my and Fleimis ears dogekek

astral haven
#

Which is why you can fix it with an eq

cursive summit
#

Tried, it was even worse

#

I wonder if there's a way to modify my amp's power

astral haven
#

Do you know what an impulse response is?

cursive summit
#

No, why

astral haven
#

Then you didn't EQ it

#

You just used an estimation

cursive summit
#

I guess equalizer apo is not an eq then

astral haven
#

Equalizer apo supports impulse response correction

vagrant pagoda
#

Also I think Halo Infinite has atmos

#

Huh no man sky as atmos

#

I should try that

vagrant pagoda
astral haven
#

That includes exactly 0 gameseith a competitive scene where sound positioning actually matters

vagrant pagoda
#

MS made Atmos a parity feature for Xbox and windows, so games will support it on both.

vagrant pagoda
ashen spindle
#

csgo is still the most played game on steam

cursive summit
#

Like 1 million active players daily?

#

It's very much alive

stark bobcat
#

It must be dying

astral haven
#

Between ca valorant and now there's a solid anual hundred mill

cursive summit

This is sad

stark bobcat

Probably more tbh

cursive summit
#

The biggest major in CS:GO's history is going on

#

In Rio, Brazil

#

The viewership is not that amazing

#

But I guess we aren't even in semis yet so, it'll be better

#

500k viewers is a lot for a bunch of tier 2 teams

gusty kiln

Well cod did just come out

stark bobcat
#

Eh viewership looks fine tbh not great but not terrible

ashen spindle
#

its thursday, half of NA is still asleep the other half is working

cursive summit

NA

#

What is this, a joke?

ashen spindle

NA viewrship is high

stark bobcat

NA and cs name a less iconic duo

vagrant pagoda
cursive summit
stark bobcat
astral haven
stark bobcat
#

Bit of a problem

shadow minnow
ashen spindle
cursive summit
#

You see

#

They are all on their couches getting fat and watching majors cause they can't compete themselves

#

So they leave the hard work to south americans and europeans

#

And enjoy the live broadcasts

vagrant pagoda
ashen spindle
#

For that information, we can look to a website like PlayerCounter. According to their figures, Fortnite sees between 2.9 and 4 million concurrent players at any one time (just under 3 million at the time of writing)

stark bobcat
#

League has the same problem the na scene is dying and their viewership in na slowly dwindling

ashen spindle
#

yes thats more than csgo but 2 times more not 20 times more

vagrant pagoda
#

Yeah 3-4 million average not peak

astral haven
#

And that also doesn't have Atmos

gusty kiln
#

Damn, wonder what's the concurrent for apex steam + origin

astral haven
#

25 /s

stark bobcat
#

Probably just look at steam

#

I doubt the majority play on origin

ashen spindle
#

anyway, funny how on twitter and reddit you simultaneously see people say N31 will beat 4090 and that it only reaches 4070, deja vu to rdna2 launch lmfao

astral haven
stark bobcat
#

I'm excited for the performance implications of a chiplet based approach

stark bobcat
#

Ik

ashen spindle
#

well a big thing is clocks

#

dont need more ram if you go more faster

stark bobcat
#

Still will make a difference

astral haven
#

Rumored klawks are the same as last gens rumors were...

ashen spindle
#

no?

#

add like 700mhz to that

cursive summit
#

I dunno if people really expected AMD to contest top end

astral haven
#

Yes
Literally every 6900xt rumor was saying 2.9ghz

astral haven
ashen spindle
#

yes and for rdna3 rumours add 700mhz to that lol

astral haven
stark bobcat
#

6900 was pretty good tho much better than I had expected

gusty kiln
#

6950xt does really well in mw2

astral haven
cursive summit
#

Great value for performance you were getting

#

But they kept price cutting 6900XT at the very end for borderline half price making it such a compelling value

gusty kiln
#

6800xt goes for under 600 now

cursive summit
#

Imo 6900XT was the highlight of its generation

astral haven
#

Yea the only real problem with last gen was scalping

#

AMD had too few GPUs to compete practically

#

It was a bloodbath of Pascal vs Polaris proportions

stark bobcat
#

I mean they probably just made bank

cursive summit
#

I can try to get a 6900XT for a pretty damn compelling price nowadays

stark bobcat
#

With their money printers

astral haven
cursive summit
#

Nvidia has that Intel thing going

ashen spindle
#

epyc was just making too much to afford more rdna dies

stark bobcat
#

Sure but that was the expectation to begin with

cursive summit
#

Where AMD is for some reason considered the worse option

#

I'm happy that AMD is fucking with Intel heavily

astral haven
stark bobcat
#

Amd IS the worse option

cursive summit
#

And I hope they'll knock out Nvidia too

gusty kiln
#

Still lacking a good enocder vs nvidia

stark bobcat
#

I say that having bought an amd gpu

astral haven
stark bobcat
#

And I'd do it again

cursive summit
stark bobcat
hidden island
#

Nvidia is better all round... apart from price and dodgy advertising

astral haven
cursive summit
#

Nvidia is not better all around if AMD manages to beat their performance last generation

ashen spindle
#

bleh twitter wont load for me, anyway 3.4ghz clocks for n31 was the last number from people who got stuff right before

cursive summit
#

Where AMD needs to step up heavily is productivity

#

Nvidia invests so damn heavily in that

hidden island
#

Not just about performance!

stark bobcat
#

Nvidia has so many more features if you need any of them you can't even consider amd

astral haven
hidden island
#

Encoders are better. Ai is better diss is better

ashen spindle
#

tf does " Ai is better" mean

cursive summit
#

DLSS2 isn't that much better than FSR2.1

astral haven
cursive summit
#

AMD is comparable to Nvidia for better prices

astral haven
ashen spindle
#

if you mean cuda has more support than rocm thats right for now I guess

hidden island
#

Ai support in software such a davinci

astral haven
#

Gets absolutely stomped in games

cursive summit
#

Meh, sometimes Nv loses out in raster perf

astral haven
stark bobcat
#

Yes

#

Exactly

#

Cuda is a very strong selling point

ashen spindle
#

yes and I also said for now as meta just recently published a pytorch thing that converts cuda to rocm and their own facebook stuff got a massive speedup from using rocm

cursive summit
#

Well

#

Shit lads

#

We got bad news

ashen spindle
#

wont fix it all but it's not hopeless

#

no we dont have bad news, we just have the usual up down before the release

cursive summit
ashen spindle
#

where it suddenyly becoems 2x worse and better

hidden island
#

Meta 🤣 F facebook

cursive summit
#

I guess we aren't beating 4090 perf dogekek

stark bobcat
ashen spindle
#

doesnt matter what you think of meta, they do a lot of work in AI datacenter etc.

cursive summit
#

I was hoping for around 4090 perf for 1100$

#

Maybe a few percent lower

ashen spindle
#

yeah nvidia is still king in powerdraw havo

cursive summit
#

Fuck the productivity just go all out on gaming perf dogekek

hidden island
#

The way marks pumping money in.. its only got a few years left in it

stark bobcat
ashen spindle
cursive summit
#

Actually this card consumes barely any kwh

#

I did a weird.. bios glitch

#

Where I tried fucking with power limits, completely overriding them to the point they glitched out

#

So this card now runs at like 0-50mhz idle

hidden island
#

Nvidia will always have an edge regardless. They hold back and just beat the competition when needed. Being amd right now

astral haven
#

I actually think Nvidia thinks rdna3 will be slower than the 4090
If they thought it would be faster, they would have started out with more cuda cores and eat some of the margins

ashen spindle
#

think that one was missing the direct comparison of a100 and mi250 though

cursive summit
#

Probs

#

Now who knows if we'll be seeing the Ada titan card

stark bobcat
astral haven
cursive summit
#

Not according to Kopite

#

They canceled that one

ashen spindle
#

why would they cancel free money

astral haven
#

It's actually not possible to cancel it

cursive summit
#

Also the full size AD102 was more like a RTX4000 Titan anyways, not really a 4090Ti

stark bobcat
#

Jensen is tired of winning

ashen spindle
#

they just keep some dies they dont put into workstation cards and are good enough and release them at insane prices and gamers will eat it up

astral haven
#

What kopite probably meant is they aren't working on it until they see the effect of rdna3

stark bobcat
#

Gamers and being dumb

ashen spindle
#

also saying we wont see titan ada could just mean instead of 99% cuda cores unlocked they go with like 95% for yields

#

4090 is only what, around 80% of the max die?

wanton grail
#

Lol

#

This thing is so over the board

astral haven
stark bobcat
#

I don't wanna know how much 100% will consume

Anyways where Wooting 1HE at

wanton grail
#

But neat if you have stupid amount of money to burn

astral haven
ashen spindle
#

oh it's 88% of the max cores for the 4090

stark bobcat
#

Nvidia wouldn't make it consume 200w

ashen spindle
#

so yeah there is room for a non titan but still 90ti

astral haven
stark bobcat
#

Yeah bygone era now

hidden island
#

But who wants a keyboard called final mouse.. bet they regret that name now lol

ashen spindle
#

no they just call it the FM keyboard

#

problem solved

hidden island
#

But we all know what that stands for

reef patrol
#

FM? Why not AM? FM is so overrated.

frozen ingot
#

I feel like that keyboard is the definition of feature bloat

astral haven

The pi model 400 tho

stark bobcat

They could prolly call it "gives us money you stupid fat fuck" and people would buy it

hidden island

Good video about dpi being totally different mouse to mouse. Final mouse did poorly

gusty kiln
stark bobcat

Imagine just making a good keyboard

Did they say what the case material is made out of?

stark bobcat

probably sapphire glass or some shit given their excess in everything else

gusty kiln

Hmm

frozen ingot

I struggle to see that keyboard selling for less than like $600 with all that bloat

#

without some serious compromises

stark bobcat
#

Why did they even make a keyboard?

gusty kiln

Their switch implementation will definitely suffer with all those other features they are working on

Where there is fancy lights, there is someone who will buy it

stark bobcat

empty wren

It should run at 1000hz

With no option to go down

gusty kiln

Oh yeah it's also 8khz polling rate

On the final mouse keyboard

empty wren

Oh yeah that does but does it matter if the switches are mechanical

stark bobcat

Yikes

stark bobcat

If they can implement analogue features

frozen ingot

why would you want anything other than hall effect if that's an option

wanton grail

It’s not the best of the best but it’s more than sufficient

I thought about modding a viper v2 into it until I saw Ninjutsu Sora

frozen ingot

wanton grail

Hybrid claw* grip

frozen ingot

the finalmouse descriptions on the board are pretty darn vague

gusty kiln

But no way that keyboard… sounds normal in anyway

gusty kiln

I bet it'll be just another gateron clones with factory lube

wanton grail
#

Probably to skip the $300-$400 mark up if anything

frozen ingot
#

I would reckon they'd go with tactile or something for the regular option since the HE will most likely be linear too

#

so there's likely going to be very little difference in feel between them

stark bobcat
#

It's going to be extraordinarily expensive is my guess

gusty kiln
#

HE version will be a $100 upcharge i bet

stark bobcat
#

I find the idea of a tactile or clicky HE switch kinda laughable

wanton grail
#

This is Finalmouse

stark bobcat
#

Until they engineer a way to adjust the position of the bump/click

wanton grail
#

It’s a “boutique”

frozen ingot
#

since they're even bothering making two versions, they'll upcharge the latter a lot

stark bobcat
#

The wooting one had a clicky option right?

wanton grail
frozen ingot
#

yes it did

ashen spindle
#

yes flaretechs were clicky or linear

stark bobcat
#

How ? Probably a click jacket. Why? Don't ask me

ashen spindle
#

why, well people wanted it

gusty kiln
#

People have moved on to click bar right?

stark bobcat
#

People are stupid

frozen ingot
#

wooting didn't design the flaretechs, they were already available as clicky or linear so was much easier to offer as option

#

lekkers however are their own design so they'd have to design other variants than linear to offer them

stark bobcat
#

I don't think it's worth offering something else

reef patrol
#

Not quite accurate either. The Flaretechs as we know them were indeed a co-operative project with Adomax.

stark bobcat
#

Linear is the perfect fit for analogue boards

frozen ingot
#
