people said the same about amd cards last gen
also the leaks about both cards have been relatively consistent for about a year and turned out to be basically spot on for the nvidia performance
When is amd’s reveal?
Nov3
Release date for the cards?
Rumoured Nov 21st
👀
What on earth
@gamerbitsnet 7900 XT/7950 XT don't have 3D V-Cache. There will be one version of N31 with same CUs and bus as 7950 XT but twice as much Infinity Cache. I don't know what it will be called (7950 XT3D? 7970 XT? Fury X3D?) 😄
They are using Vcache stacking... on GPUs?
So, "There were early plans for a version with 288MB of Infinity Cache (2-hi), but this was shelved as the cost-benefit was not worth it. "
Kepler's lying or is there something we don't know yet
or you cant read
what
the article is not that long man..
What are you on about
There is a 3D stacked MCD also being productized
Alright
2,432 packages need updating on clean install of Fedora 36....
1.6GB
gosh damn ok
wait no, that is the wrong number... 1855 packages
I was seeing a different thing
still a lot
smh linux bloat
dont you just love when Konsole opens in a window about 30x40 pixels in size
7990
HD 7990 was a dual chip card so now it's going to be dual chip of different type again heh
would fit at least somewhat
I'm sad that when it comes to GPUs there aren't many "specializations"
You either go fast or not
At least with CPUs you can go for gaming FPS, productivity or other stuff and make them priced differently
So something like a Radeon 7800XT3D makes no sense
I'm excluding Nvidia's A and Radeon's W
They are highly dedicated workstation software stuff
? cdna
Same can be attributed to CPUs, you have Threadrippers and Epycs
I just feel sad that there's no real reason for AMD to slap extra 3D cache on a 700$ GPU
Instead all they'll prolly do is slap some on their top end SKU to make it faster and call it the best card in the market
because then it would either not be a 700$ gpu anymore or the base would suck a lot lmfao
There's plenty of reason to make a Ryzen 7800X3D, no reason to make a Radeon 7800XT3D
Which is kinda sad in a way
not really because it might not even be any significant performance uplift
and unless you get something from it, why would you want it
I kinda want to decouple the productivity perf and gaming perf into separate product niches
Gaming perf should come cheaper like 5800X3D was, meanwhile for productivity there's plenty of reason to go for 5900X/5950X instead
You can't, to my knowledge rn, do that with GPUs
Or at least it isn't being done
because amd is giving you an entirely seperate gpu architecture for compute?
and nvidia to a lesser degree as well?
what you are suggesting is splitting stuff up even more which creates more R&D cost and higher product costs from that as well as lower amount of sales for the individual parts
ehh not really, that was just a reduction in max. clocks for temperature reasons which can be refined over time, was the first product after all
Tbf they already did that with AMD releasing X3D parts
And it works, it seems
not really
Quadro is A though
The only thing that Nvidia genuinely ditched is Titan
there is an A6000 that is ampera and an A6000 that is lovelace
same name
its not a consuemr product so idc but its just a mess after they ditched quadro brand
unless you get a revival of ethereum, wont be the case
So we got confirmation
N32 mobile=6950xt
Mobile chip that isn't even top SKU beating out 6950XT?
Last I heard with mobile stuff, it's mobile GPUs are typically equivalent in power to the similar naming bracket desktop GPUs of last generation, so 3060m = 2060
If they can achieve such performance with a mobile chip, what sort of orders of magnitude of energy efficiency are we talking about
likely not
rdna should be scaling better on lower power
so if amd has volume they can make the better option laptops finally
what
anyway no, seems likely, would make sense
if n31 is like 80% or so above the 6900
n32 idk put it at 30% above or something and then mak eit 30% worse for mobile power target
Bad Python!! - a 64-kilobyte Raspberry Pi intro by stage7/Genshiken
This intro recreates the famous "Bad Apple!!" video and music in a 64-kilobyte program written in Python on a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B.
This program contains:
- 25 megabytes of video data in 1313 hand drawn frames in some 56 kilobytes.
- 19 megabytes of music data in 8 tracks o...
That Newegg story about the weights in a 4090 box was legitimate btw. We have an update in the next HW News.
could still mean 3rd party approved reseller or smth but we will see
weights in the box, what??
NewEgg sent a paying customer weights instead of the GPU???????
Weird that you didn't hear that story
Common thing though
Amazon gets return trolled all the time
its not return trolled
Order RTX 4090, take the GPU out, put something equally as heavy in, send it back
they need to take inventory and see if it works if returned etc.
especially on something that costs over a grand
o... and they dont bother checking before they send it to another customer?
Lana
I guess when it comes to " I don't need it anymore" returns it might be different
Though I heard Amazon is lenient at times when you file a false "It came broken" or "I didn't get my thing" complaint
and if you return something saying it arrived broken, it then wont get resold as a working product
or at least thats how it should be
and we still dont know it its newegg or 3rd party etc.
hence the first tweet saying they are looking into it and will have an update
There were good reasons for it
Ah it seems it was deleted, I was looking for it
7,315 votes and 501 comments so far on Reddit
no it was not good reason, that guy was an idiot who though a CNC cutter and 3d printer are the same
you dont 3dprint blocks of metal lmfao
I said you dont, not you cant, because why would anyone waste a 3d printer to making a chunk of metal you just cut from something and be done
Fair nuff
like its a piece cut from a pipe and a cylinder or similar
It does not like a recent model of macbook air
oh, the new Airs have the notch....
thats not even a thing on Mac
and if it was, there is the global menu in the way
which the notch is in the way for a lot of the time when the app has a lot of menu items...
Like a lot of IDEs
feel like we had that topic some weeks/months ago and noticed for some IDE it was in fact not in the way?
I like the idea of using your iPhone as a webcam a lot better than whatever they got going on
we also know that some apps, it IS in the way
yeh, that is a very neat idea, tbh
that bending

Wait it's not supposed to be like that?
You can’t notice it using it
Well it adds how much screen you have
Nah...
Idk but I would take this over thicker bezel, though depends on how thick would it be
That space is used by the panel anyway
What does MacOS refer to the top panel as?
I'm sure Apple call it something
Anyways it took me a few days to get used to and now I only remember the notch exists when someone brings it up complaining about it, genuinely
Yeh
It's that way for me on my phone too
Aparently menu bar
But on a laptop
With an OS that used a global menu
That can get pretty long sometimes
The notch is stupid
For me usually, but with like movies sometimes do get to notice if
Never had that happen
Even tried some IDEs last time
I wonder for some music apps or video editors xd
Someone made an app for the notch where you can drag files to the notch and itll send them over AirDrop when you release them
Got inspired to build a little airdrop helper app tonight.

Geforce Experience enabled by default 🤢 luckily we can say no
Yes.... sometimes you can.
yes that is also something we have already talked about some weeks ago..
is it deja vu day today?
whats the nvidia HD Audio thing?
Oh, it sends audio over the HDMI
Mine has a jack but I tried to use it and just got static
maybe cause I didnt install this driver...now that I think about it
I knew I remembered this happening before
nah, this way is fine
I just often forget to check if there is a new version I can download
yeah same
no cause some monitors have a headphone jack and not an audio in jack
?
oh hey the driver tracks your average fps on played games? thats actually usefull
wat does this have to do with what I said?
I said my monitor has a headphone jack, then you said that some monitor have a jack and not audio in? where you get the audio in part from?
no thats not what you said
Displays got audio in?
Huh, I've not heard of that one
literally more common
I guess for microphones or something like that?
I know mine is for audio out, has a headphone symbol next to it
so they can also be used with audio on monitor
i still dont know why you thought i meant audio in
.
because you did not say its a headphone jack and audio in jacks are more common
I didn't know that, but since audio in exists on monitors, for some reason, it makes sense
Now imma do some research and try to find a monitor with audio in
anything with a speaker likely has one
Cause this is some revelation I've never seen or heard of before
yeh ive never heard of it either
clearly
if I had, id have said headphone jack instead of audio in jack
and then tony wouldnt have had to get pedantic over it
So
This one has speakers, supposedly
I... can't say I can see audio in
USB-B though
That's a weirdo
Going to bet it doesn't and the headphone jack is for HDMI to headphone
thats to power the USB A ports
so does the fact the monitor is plugged into the wall, my monitor has USB B and non of the USB A ports work if the USB B is not plugged in
you do not use hdmi power to power your monitor usb ports lmao
also it has hdmi which carries sound, as tony said for vga, dvi and dp it uses audio in usually
Why else does HDMI power draw exist, the display has its own AC cable
to be an active cable to carry signal and power the screen??
also not hdmi base spec
ngl this will be fun to look at after I get a new gpu
does nvidias panel have an overview like that?
I know you can set game settings and such in GFE but idk if it knows fps
also @fair gull you know me long enough to know im stupid af, so its better to assume IDK that audio in was even a thing before getting pissed at me for not specifiying between headphone jack and audio input jack
idk I havent played that game in like over a year
that is overwatch 2
Oh weird it says ovwrwtxh then
didnt even know this gpu ever overwatch
oh wait thats not from my screenshot
lmfao
well one chance is that your fps is ass
it s the same game
its basically just a new battlepass season
its not lazy
its just marketing
and its working
Weird
I was about to say, it literally looks and feels and acts the same
the other option is that it doesnt accurately track some things so might count loading screens etc.
they managed to get more people to play their old ass game so I'd say what they did was successful
Weird
Re release game to make people play old one

yes its like a new battlepass season in fortnite
the real reason for the rerelease was for the PvE, but that was taking too long and they didn't want to leave people waiting another 1-2 years
Wow
some changes for balance and an hd texture pack
I am excited for the PvE though, replay value seems high
anyway, I do see a number of games that are 60fps capped and always run at it show 55/57 fps so it likely counts loading screens and all, so on low playtime menu etc. will drag it donw
honestly playing it again the game wasn't quite as ass as I remembered and I do enjoy challanging my aim
yeah a influx of players will make it better until everyone notices the same issues are still there and all
well I think the issues are only there if only the most sweaty people play it
and that inevitably will happen again

yeah server stuff is neat, wonder if we ever get some workstation arm stuff in this decade or if its further out
i mean if hezner would make a chassis and mobo for it, that thing could easily be in a tower case for workstation use.
2.462GHz
I've never seen it to 3 decimal places before :')
It's always 2.4GHz
But rounding this up would be 2.5GHz
For some reason my sister's room has delayed packets etc
Even though the router is outside her room, it's also more stable downstairs.
Hmmm
does wooting 60 he have key strafing built into the keyboard ?
thats channel 11
fuck transparency in discord darkmode
Oo
I am on ethernet, this is the fastest package we can buy, and this is the only internet company in my entire area.
i'm seriously tempted to get starlink when it gets out to my area, Elon Musk product or not
What sort of swamp do you live in
southern indiana
Quite a swamp
it feels like it bro
Ffs bro
damn it
What are you doing step-bro
ignoring this. I just want my internet to be better. also starlink is supposedly going to be in my area in 2023 but i'm pretty sure it said that last year for 2022
Why is Starlink not available in the U.S
Wouldn't that be literally the first place it launches
it is, just not my little corner
So anywhere from Washington, Oregon through Dakotas towards the Hampshires, Pennsylvanias and New Yorks, there is no Starlink?
They only launched it in Texas or what
nah, northern indiana has access to it

Starlink!
That's why I said right below it that I wish I could get some.
Put pre order in
Otherwise the date will keep pushing
Buddy has had it for over a year
And the site still says the wait is 2023
is it worth it?
it's 110$/m and i'm not sure what it'll be like down where i live.
I assume you can cancel it if you dont want it when it comes to you, but with how far out it is, might as well sign up I'd say
You buy the dish though 0
It's like 400 bucks

Are there any tryhard VM users here? Cause I got a question; I'm just trying to figure everything out and the thing I don't understand is I installed a potentially malicious program on my VM and windows defender of the VM detected it as a virus BUT also windows defender of my machine, the host. Is that possible or am I fucked?
Windows defender of the host can't quarantine it so I'm guessing that it can only detect viruses running on the VM?
But from what I've read, the host antivirus shouldn't be able to detect anything unless it has spread to the host machine?
As far as my fairly limited VM knowledge knows, viruses can't normally spread from your VM to your host machine
Especially if you are running something like hyper-v
Yeah, that's what I'va also read but that would mean that the hosts antivirus can detect viruses in the VM
I'm running VirtualBox
It might be possible since the antivirus scans the memory and stuff
And some kind of memory bit matched with Windows defender's threat detect
What's the location identified as?
1980€ for 4090 tuf in stock yes or not?
It's under the VM's storage
Then it's likely nothing serious
Just get a normal fucking gpu lol
Bexin and normal don't pair
Sad reality we live in
Also another thing is, the hosts av detected the virus after I reset windows on the VM to test if viruses could remain.
Since, to my knowledge, the VM runs on sandboxed memory which doesn't transfer back to the main host, it should be fine
what file did the host flag? if its the vm file its likely just that it can scan the vm file from the outside
.
thats the path not the file
Sure
The file and path are the storage of the vm
yeah the .vdi file just means it found it in the vm, it did not spread
Yeah I don't think it's anything bad either
https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2022/10/ransomware-crypto-miner-and-botnet-malware-installed-using-patched-vmware-bug/ though there are vm issues so make sure to always run the latest versions
Windows defender did do something cause the vm crashes as soon as it runs
I do, I've read that too.
It crashes cause it's quarantined
yeah it tried to put the vm into quarantine so the file is likely messed up
According to Defender
Yeah
Unless you need that file just get rid of it
VMware does rollback snapshots at times however, I dunno if Vbox does as well
Check if you can roll back
I think there might be a setting or way to prevent defender form scanning the vm file, otherwise add that to exceptions or it will just do that every time
I didn't make a snapshot
Anything important on there?
Yeah i'll look it up, I didn't even know av could detect viruses in a vm especially not windows defender 😄
Defender isn't bad
defender has been good enough since win7 that everything else is basically just a money scam
especially since win 10
Nah, I'm just testing stuff. It's my first time using a vm so don't really know what I'm doing
Eh start over ig
A lot of false possitives tho no?
not really
Yeah I will
most false postivies are ones that are not a virus but basically spam, or someone didn't sign a program correctly which in most cases is the devs fault
some rare exceptions to those but you'll have some false positives with everything
bc if you wouldn't have them you would instead have more missed postives lmao
Defenders false positives are usually HackTools or notavirus for me
Good to know!
Yeah ahhaha
It's been a while since I've ever had a genuine trojan
Just don't go to the deep end
And have a proper AV
Including browser plugins that protect from BS
Wym proper antivirus?
defender is a proper AV
I use defender and I have malwarebytes to scan sometimes
I never needed anything but defender
But then again I grew up with xp without av so I know how to avoid trash
Some AV suites are actually really advanced nowadays and it's worth to get a dedicated AV suite
for what
For ransomware remedy, reverting malware damage changes, etc
you can do all that by doing basic computer hygiene for free
Cloud based detection isn't always up to date, I imagine if Defender lets ransomware through, you're ducked
Some AV suites detect ransomware that has begun its payload and will protect the PC even if the firewall didn't work
you dont need an AV to make backups
No offence but if u get ransomware you are either old or computer illiterate
Or there's a major ransomware attack worldwide
😄
also wtf do you mean if the firewall didn't work, you mean if some state sponsored hacker targets you out of everyone in the world and uses some ISP level exploit to get into your router?
Something like being in a network that got compromised by something like wannacry back in 2017?
"much of WannaCry's spread was from organizations that had not applied these, or were using older Windows systems that were past their end-of-life"
Just update your os
Not always all ransomware is patched out before it can spread
Every computer literate person I know has never had ransomware
Yet
and they probably never will unless they become senile
Who knows, maybe one day there will be some major ransomware that'd propagate through google.com domain and spread through networks
That'd be pretty fatal
Sometimes being computer literate doesn't protect you
the day that happens it's over lmao
I have my doubts
You might want a dedicated suite even on the edge case that something bad happens
if that shit is on google.com I promise u the AV company also won't know about it
there is a massive difference between some unknown local protocol for printers that nobody uses and finding and exploit in HTTP
That's why some suites literally have built in systems to stop malware that bypassed the detection sequence
and even then, do a backup, dont store passwords in a textfile and you just wipe it if that somehow were to happen
no need to pay for any AV
I prefer to not waste the money I could be using to buy food
Eh fair enough
Last I heard javascript exploits are pretty notorious
I've used malwarebytes to remve a virus on my friends pc before
yeah so you need to have a massive unkown exploit AND get into the google servers to infect people from google.com
malwarebytes goes hard 👍
gl getting even one of that
One of those happened with wannacrypt
Let's hope google's servers don't get hacked though
which part happend with wcry
"massive unkown exploit"
I thought that was just over SMB
if they hack google servers they are competent enough to fool the bum AV
It's a pretty unknown exploit if the only people that know about it are the CIA
ok that was in relation to Js or w/e else google uses on the website
Not really if the AV suite keeps your PC in a perpetual sandbox
also getting ad/scriptblocker is also cheaper than an AV and helps against more than just compromised javascript code
so why do you need an AV for that?
if you just want a VM put it into a vm
sure AV suites can offer something, I just dont see what they can do that you can't also get for free
Is VirtualBox good btw?
yea
I think it's more emotional, the target consumer doesn't know how anything works. So I think most would rather pay for an av that does most things than look into free options.
Security feels more secure if you pay for it
I said it
😄
yeah but if you go to sandboxing something that wont be a 1 click solution either way
yeah true
Tbf if a full top-end AV suite was free forever, who wouldn't want to get one
I mean at that rate why still use an AV suite
what does it offer me above just using a VM for putting it into VM
Ofc, but a good av without 20million adds and shit programs that it installs does not exist
It does
but yeah if it existed everyone would wan tit withou a doubt
?
- Download Kaspersky Total Protection Suite
- Send false packets to their activation server
- Activate a lifetime account for free
Best AV suite in the world for free
I heard about that, does it actually work?
ok but what does it do, I still dont see what I'd get from it
ok
What I most like about it is that it somehow encapsulates Windows into a sandbox and will revert any malware damage if the cloud based firewall didn't work
so it does vpn, I'd rather use a different vpn for privacy reasons and also vpns dont protect you from what most people think it does
adblocker, ok, why not just adblocker plugin that works better, what do they call the sandbox thing you talk about
The only of the extras I use is the password manager honestly
But mostly I like that whatever happens the PC will be fine
They have up to date cloud database that covers nearly most old and zero-day malwares and also has passive protection after that
you still havent told me what that feature is so I cant look what it allegedly does
like what does it do above windows rollback
I think it falls under this one?
Anti-Ransomware (Windows Only): Monitors your PC in real-time to identify activity that matches ransomware behavior. This enables suspicious activity to be blocked instantly, stopping ransomware attacks from locking you out of your machines.
ok so you using some sort of placebo feature
and password manager you get safer and for free, without having to fake an activation
all I could find is what you can do with windows restore points already
I'm not sure what is "placebo" about identifying an undetected virus, containing it, and reverting all damage without the need of windows snapshots
Cause let's be real, even if you had a windows snapshot, if that ransomware kicks in half of the time it'll be encrypted
so that kaspersky rollback magically can unencrypt it?
because if not then it just stores an additional backup of things
It rolls it back before encryption even begins
because it notices that but doesnt notices the virus? because if it would it would just stop the virus
Well it does both I suppose, if any damage actually happened it contains the virus and then reverts all changes
soooo. what does it do over having defender running with having backups/restore points
It has bigger and more frequently updated database than defender, better detection than defender and is less ass to actually work with than defender
Along with a lot of other features
Defender just quarantines absolutely everything all the time
Kaspersky actually doesn't do that, it runs the malware, sees if it's malicious, if it is it gets rid of it, if not but it falls into the database, it notifies first
A lot easier to work with
Defender has this annoying habit of quarantining files and then keeps quarantining them even after you tell him to stop doing that
that sounds wrong
clicking on allow item is all you should need and then it allows it
Not here
Especially with KMS (Key Management Services)
Windows just hates KMS
Quarantined, allow, quarantined again, allow, quarantined again
feel like thats not really a valid complaint if thats all you are having trouble with lmfao
I just hate working with defender
It's way too aggressive for user comfort
Plus I like having the extra automatic protection on top of a basic anti-virus
which I feel are just placebo since you cant explain to me what it actually does
Could you please watch some sort of a test where the AV in question was put against zero-day malwares and ransomwares and see how effectively it deals with all threats?
It's far more effective than Defender, although Defender is solid enough
then link me something, I'm asking for what it does on top
ok so based on that channel looking into windows defender just use that and the folder protection feature and you're set and then just rollback if something happens, which I would want to do anyway after I get hit by something because if its a new thing who knows if it also goes around the minirollback that has ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Eh fair enough
Defender's just fine for most users
I guess if you live more on the edge you might want something more
if you live more on the edge you live in a VM anway so you reset the entire image
I have installed Minecraft mods from pretty shady sites and no viruses
Yeah that's the scariest thing
If it's not on 9minecraft or planetminecraft or whatever it's called, I just do without it
Used to use those two sites and more number Minecraft before I knew curseforge existed
you underestimate how quickly malware is discovered nowadays
and sigged appropriately
I do not, no
I am aware how within hours at times they are documented or even before they are released
But in a fantastical scenario where everything goes wrong, I want to be protected
Single point failure is never protection
You're counting on one software to prevent and resolve data loss
Just no use compuder and wear hatfoil
9mc is so shady man
Idk why anyone uses it
I used to not know alternatives, and some mods could only find there
only leaked version of paid mods lol
No there was one or two mods that were only for older versions oficially but somehow one of the shady websites had them on newer.
But that was back in 1.12.2 times when I was making a huge custom modpack
Thanks to Ali from the HevORT's community for this EPIC caption :)
Looks so weird
Hey Guys, i love the LED from GamestateIntegration in CSGO on my Logitech G910 is there something similar on the 60HE?

They already made a variant of that Win10 unbloated version for Win11?
I am... interested
I wonder what important features do you lose by unbloating Windows
Updates?
updates, MS Store apps usually, potential drivers that would be downloaded by updates,
Im not sure if you lose the store in this one, but most Debloated Windows I see, you do lose it
Ghost Toolbox! (Add or Remove Windows Store and Much More!)
So you can keep it
Support UWP Games / UWP Apps (ex. Forza/GOW/etc, etc) , Updatable (can update to latest build Windows 11!) , Window update can be paused until 2077!
Huh
Sounds like a lot of effort but probably worth it considering it will be ran off an SD card lol
It's also really really light weight
I'm rather interested of trying it out on a VM or something like that
Would it not be logical for me to use the windows 10 version tbh
Ayyy
Apple nerfing their old products
A story as old as Shrek
In past has been proven false
And actually I remember my iPhone 6s Plus getting faster 5 years after it came out with software updates
Only real case of apple slowing down stuff was when people genuinely had their phones randomly shut down because of their battery
Besides that, why AirPods Max is not an old product, and has no replacement yet
Why would they slow it down when AirPods Max 2 don’t exist
And AirPods Max are pretty sure bigger profit AirPods Pro
how would I find out where TF the website if getting questions from? I have the html file, and it works offline, and I can search the source code
I cannot fucking find where its pulling the questions from
I even copied the html file to its own folder to see if it was using another file to get them, but nope, still works
Ive hunted the source code and cant find shit
Depends on how the website is set up - You will most likely not find any of that in the output html. Cause we use PHP, ASP and such these days to compile HTML 😄
its a standalone html file though
and it works offline, so the questions must be contained in it somewhere
Search for sentences and words?
Fascinating.
the site has turned off the ability to right click too, I could see if I can disable that for a while

Appdata
In a lot of the games enabling XeSS gives you less FPS
Local
Why on earth would you enable it
yes if you set it to ultra quality
simple, it uses functions not sped up enough by other hardware
amd only has the DP4a not the XMX instructions so on a rdna2 card it uses the slower algo

Sup, i cant place order on the website, it just sends me back to main page
did you figure it out yet?
nope....
care to share the file? 😉
not allowed i guess?
ye...
ok. also look in the scripts tab, there might be some nice webpack compiled stuff in there.
i assume you checked the webworkers and network tab
service workers*
check the file source and read through it? there should be a reference somewhere to something that handles questions
and none of it is text wrapped
turn on wrapping
I can see all the functions where it checks if the answer is correct and the one to get the final score at the end and the one that shows a popup if you get it wrong
or.. open it in an editor with an auto formatter
that would be the content of an html element as text
o
step through it with a debugger
oh right
thats a weird way to console.log 😉
those error make it look like old as shit :p
yeah, theres a shit ton of Netscape and IE references in the code
well..9
LOL
oh navigator means browser in code
ok
is there an eval or base64 decoding going on? 😉
huh?
hey i’m trying to pre order the 60he but the pre order today button doesn’t do anything. Is that a website issue or an error on my part?
same here actually, I just tried it
pls help i love this bird i want my bird so bad 😢
Join us online November 10th at 10 am Pacific to watch the unveiling of our next-gen server processors. #AMD #TogetherWeAdvance #datacenters
intel investors are shaking
Careful we have Linux stans
To them everything works because using user unfriendly OS is a good thing
were your windows closed? if not the cloud might come in and steal your local OS
I've re installed steamos in case previous issues were borked install
No xess on steamdeck yet ig
Does Deck do dual boot?
It's a pc
yeah same lack of instructions on the apu
and quality isnt better than fsr either so
Maybe intel is gonna update it like amd and Nvidia did theirs
Not looking very promising for performance on the deck tho
I mean it was never going to be something that just flat out beats fsr on all platforms
still think with more tuning it can make it so people might chose that over DLSS or nvidia does something like opening up parts of DLSS for other vendors
SteamOS doesn't properly support it so it's a pita
Rn steam os is a recovery image
Lovely
haha true..
Palit GeForce RTX 4090 GameRock from one of our community members … Should he be worried? 🤔

one mighty bend lmfao
When you are that thick it bends itself
Interesting how 3rd gen Ryzen is on top and first Raptor lake part is less popular than a 12400f
7600X is the most popular new Ryzen part and that's less popular than even Ryzen 5 5500
Wew AMD's launch wasn't very successful
really? amd is showing higher revenue and they have higher margins
Steam OS is so shit omg
for investors this is successful, just not a totally sweeping victory
The higher revenue part seems to come from increased 5000 series sales
5800X3D is getting sold really well
so you can sell 5000 series despite intel launching next gen
sounds like a good thing
Yep
and intel is having lower margins
Wish that 7000 series had a landslide victory over Raptor but it's not to be just yet
Maybe in another year prices will go down on next gen components
disagree, its a decent option so people can use am5 and beta test if the platform works till I need to upgrade
Not even, b650 is the platform you are gonna use and it's very significantly different from x670e
Holy shit that's a disaster
Cheapest am5 board is actually 170
I didn't realize that the boards were out
I thought we were still waiting on cheap boards
I mean, 170 isn't that much to ask for a good quality board
Assuming they are all good quality boards
But it's not a good quality board
its 50 above what they said the boards will start at
And that
The bigger problem is the min cost is still screwed up by the whole needing to use ddr5 situation
Literally not
13700k + ddr4 is still faster in game than 7900x
And a 13700k + motherboard is cheaper than a 7900x alone
doesnt it with ddr4 still lose to the 5800x3d most cases
That's why I said
Not amd is hot trash
Am4 is good, am5 is garbo so far
it definitely is awkward that its a new socket (and it needed to be one) vs intel currently in the mixed ddr4/5 option
and socket longevity is not important to many
but they also had to transition to ddr5 and lga
Yeah
They only needed to go lga
They could have kept ddr4
Or ya know do a dual generation?
no because then they would have needed a entirely different IO die with ddr4 memory controller, zen5 most definitely only will be ddr5 so that would have made issues with boards
I had an i7-5820K ran it with DDR4 OC:d and upgraded to an i7-12700K with DDR5 now
you mean make it still work on AM4?
Or make the iodie support ddr4
then you have a separate IO die they cant reuse that ads cost and complexity etc.
No
but lets say it would support ddr4
Current iodie, dual ram support
would you then want to see am5 boards with ddr4 support, that only support zen4?
since zen5 wont be using ddr4
Why not?
isn't the current io die once again reused for epyc or chipsets? would that work if we add a ddr4 controller?
Nope and nope
Small iodie is only used for consumer and business
No server use
And the chipset is designed by asus
and promontory is not a reused io die this time?
Promontory means it's asus
...ok, this is freaking neat https://youtu.be/f5YWXrZdNpA
The US Army has selected the XM-157 to work along side many new weapon systems including the X-M5 NGSW. This new optic from Vortex has a feature that ranges and calculates your exact hold to achieve first round impacts. The hold is displayed within the optic. The technology is incredible and we're excited to bring you this review.
00:00 XM-157...
would the ddr4 controller still fit on the io die without increasing its size?
ranges the target, calculates drop and puts an overlay on your optic to show you where to aim
Yes
how do we know that
Because Intel has done it
And their ddr5 controller is better so it wouldn't be a performance problem
no I mean I know its possible to add it, but could that die add it without becoming bigger
Would fit #🐸│memes more
Nobody cares
Unlikely at best
Mean
Intels controller is fewer transistors
So yes it's fully possible
idk I think the fact you would have a new socket and you could only use that for one generation with ddr4 then would make it really awkward to market
I think it would obviously be better right now for performance/$ but in hindsight I dont know if it would be better
So they just need to support ddr4 for their CPUs for 2 years
Big woop
Move memory controller to the motherboard
As it was in the old good times
Issue solved
Now motherboards can support ddr2 if they want
Why
and given that the IF clocks are now more decoupled from RAM speeds, is that just a general improvement or does that come from making use of DDR5?
Genuinely though, moving part of the memory controller to the board imo wouldn’t be such a bad idea, if it could communicate with cpu no matter the type of ram it has.
General improvement obviously
Ddr5 just forced them to do that
it would likely kill every cpu because your latency would make it trash
Typically you'd want to cram more things into the CPU just for speed reasons
Then become apple
even speed of electrons is not infinite
Move ram to the cpu
Which is the opposite of chiplet
Unironically going to happen
Well we already have ram on cpu kinda
I see the future of systems on a chip a big reality
Sapphire rapids has hbm on board
Instead of buying parts you just purchase an entire AMD branded system
More margins for AMD
But also l1 l2 and l3 cache
(I know it’s not actually ram)
look at CDNA3, that's basically everything on cpu, its like a datacenter APU
or I guess mi300, cdna3 is one part of it
why
Why not
because for gaming its worse?
I like the sound of AMD making a fully ready system that you can power up and use, no need to handpick RAM, coolers, motherboards, SSDs, etc
so a steamdeck in 2 generations
I don't doubt that will be the direction they might be heading to
I'm thinking something like current embedded systems
you want an apu that has everything on it
Basically
One can hope that will be something we head for
is a ddr4 pc better than a ddr5 laptop
depends
PC is better than laptop
ram is but one component
GPU and CPU matter a lot
could be an amazing laptop and a shit pc, you need to know the other parts
pc is better in this case
howver, the pc has aio cooling
That's just another positive towards PC being better
while the gpu for example has the same name, laptop parts are using less pwerdraw so its worse than its pc counterpart in name
cause im planning on the xmg oasis thing
Unless it's a cheap ass AIO
What on earth
do you need the laptop as a laptop to carry around?
it first matters what you need it for, moving it around or would it stay in one place
i mean
maybe i need to move around with it
You'll get better performance with an external GPU vs the laptop watercooled
idk
And it'll give you more laptop options
if you dont plan on making use of the laptop by using it to travel etc. the pc will be the better option
if you want both you could do as suggested, get a cheaper pc and laptop but with external gpu, so if you travel and want to game while on the way, that would be a midway
Well the point of egpu is no PC needed
was thinking of better cpu on the desktop
Why not get a powerful NUC and pair it with a portable 13-14" 240hz display
Still carryable
Cheaper than laptop + PC if you need significant amounts of storage
eGPU isn't expensive though
Literally same cost as that watercooling laptop kit
Just needs a spare GPU
external chassis does add cost, its not just putting the gpu outside on the desk lel
Correctamundo
Problems with egpus?
Delay isn't a problem
Don't remember hearing them having many problems
i kinda wonder something
You are just limited to 2-4 lanes of PCIe 3
Speed falls quite a bit cause of that
can the logo of the idcooling zoomflow be removed
Of what
an aio
Ignore the aio
i wanna remove the id cooling logo off the aio
You don't want to deal with water if at all possible
Only AIO that is worth bothering is Arctic Freezer II or NZXT Kraken 73 if you are more hip
If you need the laptop, get a laptop with thunderbolt or USB 4 that is as cheap as possible
Should be 1k us equiv
considering getting the liquid freezer ii 360
Just get a cheap air cooler, aio is not helpful for most modern CPUs in games
but theres no rgb on pump
its bothersome to clear
clean
Aio is more bothersome to clean lmao
i mean
aio just need to remove the thing and wash
the radiatio
radiaot
No PC
no need for RGB
it sucks
but air colling need remove the heat sink and all that nonsense
no you dont need to remove the heat sink to clean it
unless you like idk, spray it with dust yourself
air coolers are a lot less work to maintain than water
u have a point
tho aios do look neater
Not if you get a solid side panel
and not to mention air coolers have height limitation
in addition, good air coolers like the noctua ones are vv expensive
water cooler cost more usually
height limitation sure, if you get a tiny case, but the AIO also needs to put the radiator somewhere
but noctuas are far more expensiver
Noctuas also aren't the best any more either performance or value wise
and even then noctuas are usually not more xpensive
even if you overclock, an aircooler would be enough especially if you do gaming and not 3d work on it or so
3000 in my currency only can get me a i7 1200kf with an rtx 3070ti
And right now, the best CPU to get generally is the 5800x3d which doesn't allow overclocking core just memory
Ok so you need to tell us what currency
yes we cant magically know what your currency is lol
tell us what your currency is ffs
otherwise we'll assume euro, like normal peeps
Or USD which ATM is the same lel
imagine thinking exposing your countrys currency will dox you
^^
You all aliens 🤢
I mean
I use CAD as my currency where I live
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700KF, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, Lian Li LANCOOL III RGB ATX Mid Tower
what almost 3000 dollars can get me
yea
WHAT KIND OF FUCKING DOLLARS ARE YOU USING
ik
CAD ain't even that bad
yes hes clearly at this point not talking about USD
bruh
its vv clear
not at all
bout somewhere there
^
I think I found it
you know without knowing the country we cant suggest a build since the local prices might be different than just the conversion rate prices
or perhaps an estonian
Tf do you even use in Finland, did you move from marks?
one of the ones who unironically think estonia is nordic
federal euro
Us baltic people only use euro
You should know that as a person with baltic roots
Keep up with your heritage, alien
I see 6900XT, I like
Why a KF processor though, doesn't Intel disable OC on non-Z motherboards?
Isn't there just an F processor
Oh that's the new Raptor lake
So I guess Intel might release Raptor Lake non-K F parts a bit later
I don't see any point going for Raptor lake if you are not going to use DDR5
At this point save some cash and go 12700F
what does that have to do with amd gpu
even when I'm trying to bash it in with too much shit at once
Or do a better choice and get a superior 5800X3D and a B550 mobo
All GPUs need good CPUs to run well
what, sources on that please
dont care about that part
I meant sources for amd gpu somehow needing a better cpu
I think they just generalized CPU bottleneck
especially why it needs two more cores, how do more cores relate to that
Planning on a z690
it's a valid suggestion he makes
but also yes, why do you think you need a z690 board?
