I started with a 1700 overclocked and then swapped for a 3700x for £100 more and then swapped a 3700x for a 5700 at £40 after trading in.
Sadly that's where Am4 ends for me so I will wait until Zen 5 3d I think now and see if Intel or AMD is best and jump on whichever it is.

Problem for AMD was no motherboard vendor gave a shit as AMD was abysmal so they assumed it wasn't worth the hassle.
AMD also being tiny at that point had significant hurdles to overcome with a completely new platform.
