I'm sure this is excluding shipping tho
mindfactory has it at 159
ah darn meeting is over early now I have to work instead of just listen to weird decisions
I hate when Mindfactory has a sale for thermal paste for 1€ and then ask me to pay 10€ in shipping
🤣
Can't they just, idk wrap it with the CPU if you are buying them together?
What's even the good paste nowadays
I still have a tube of Grizzly Cryonaut
it says free shipping
Didn't read since I can't afford it right now anyway
on a tech related note i might score a dl160 g8 for free
Apple only remove something so they can sell a replacement
No jack? Buy Airpods
No charger in the box? Use Magsafe
No physical Sim card? No idea what Apples replacement will be
I predict Apple will start offering eSIM plans soon
i predict they wont
cause apple watches had esim for ages
in basically all countries
Hmm
WINDOWS
esim imo is just a smart move in general
So Apple are ok with a bunch of people not buying their newest flagships because they cannot get an eSIM plan in their country?
ya so bluescreenview and check why it occured
wasnt the esim only models us
so
Is it??
its not windows but amd being shite
Will check wtf does registry say
yes for the third time its only the us models that are esim only
US only.
And yes - eSim should have been made standard a decade or longer ago.
And a lot of business people travel
nano and esim
No - eSim should have been standard - GLOBALLY 😛
or dual esim
it really doesnt make it harder, it makes it harder if you have only a plan that sucks for other countries AND the other country doesnt have esim providers
how does esim make traveling harder
Countries with providers who don't support it.
If the place you are going doesn't offer a temporary eSIM plan
The problem with e-sim it shifts all the shittyness to the phone manufacturer instead of the provider.
those providers will have to support it cause apple
Apple too bad, we don't support provider x
It's such a simple change though.
yeah providers arent wanting to lose all apple customers so they will have to offer it
for once apple forcing a good change
that should have already been a thing as mansen pointed out repeatedly
Yeah event viewer tells me literally nothing why the PC just bluescreened
Still it does have some drawbacks, mostly because e-sim is device attached, so switching devices could be hindered.
Another thing is providers could negotiate stricter limits with phone makers.
bluescreenview
fuck event viewer
that shit is as useless as my grandma on a pc
SIM cards haven't been used for their full purpose for a decade and a half in most countries. It used to store your contacts to move between phones, it used to have simple apps for topping up your payment plan and provide settings for calls and such (what we now typically do through phonecall codes and * #)
They just contain a bit of unique information. Exactly what a phone has been able to do for so long at this point with no meaningful issues.
sim cards hold 2 infos in 99percent of the case these days and nothing more
well 3
a pin
super pin
and the sim id
esim has a simid and well u have ur own lockscreen pin
that small sliver doesnt tell me shit
cause u removed all the good info
Windows kernel crashed or panicked.
Where am I exactly supposed to look here to find anything about why this thing crashed
The kernel thing was red, so I guess it just had some inner exception and died
just send me the dmp file
@cursive summit apparently firefox.exe crashed it by calling NpReadDataQueue in Npfs.sys
How did you even find that
by analyzing the dump file
npfs is an actual windows driver which if memory serves just makes devices acceasible to the HAL
id prob run a chkdsk with the /f /r /x options on the c drive or whatever ur os is and maybe do a repair install of win10
aka upgrading to the latest win10 even if u already have it
that way files like that get properly replaced
u need to update win10 anyway vexx
ure running 2004
not even 21h2
Optional updates are not really optional
This?
thats a quality rollup
wat, NtBuildlab literally can’t be wrong
then they haven’t updated nt in 21h2
so why does the system settings show it different then
19044 to begin with
not 19041
because the dump generator uses NtBuildlab
which is initialized with a static string
bruh why cant they fetch values dynamically
anyway vexx just upgrade to 21h2 again to make sure sys files are fresh and good
I don't recall why but I did have a lot of issues recently
Now I completely forgot why
Oh yeah windows update wouldn't install
It'd start installing update, cancel it at like 10% and reboot
I had to go through like 20 different microsoft websites to find a fix
I sure love reinstalling windows at least that fixes everything most of the time
Something about registry iirc
i need to reinstall
windows update broke itself ages ago
it just boots into recovery after each failed attempt
i only had 1 broken win install
which was from xp to 7 to 10
started acting up after some upgrade where it crashed due to some nonexistent file
as in it mentioned a module that didnt exist
only time i gave up
AirPods Pro gen 2 arrive 30th Pog
Doge also got them I think
Then you both need to stop
Outlook autocomplete feature is kinda cool, since it’s pretty good usually
Issue is, it would take me longer to swipe up there than it takes me writing the stuff lol
You need to stop

Or you will be stopped
And stop
man I wish I could be stopped
I just purchased a Wooting 60 HE and then after I purchased it said upgrade to the lekker spring Linear50 what is that? please help lol
yes its springs so you can mod the switches yourself
Are they better than what cones stock? And thank you very much for the quick reply 🙂
thx e1
im excited!
wow! thank you Slayr!
oh, they added an outline to where the notifications show up, instead of nothing being there when there are no notifications
no matter how waterproof your phone is, probs should not be taking it into salt water...
Yikes
Even the rugged ones are freshwater only
You need something with a depth rating for salt
yep..
do people honestly do that? no normal phone is waterproof its water resistant for a short period, not with mass pressure and certainly not salt water....
I just saw the size of this chonky boi....
prepare to not be able to roll back down your sleeves
Ehhh... modern iPhones can last like six months underwater in a lake and not die.
im sure youd love to use your 1000+ dollar phone for longer than that though
Well you're supposed to dive and grab it. It can't LIVE underwater 😛
dont think so, assuming the lake is not salt water?
They are only rated 2 metre 30 minutes, may last longer but still not designed for high depths
2½ meters is not uncommon for a lake.
I'm not talking about going fishing on a boat. I'm talking dropping it off a boat mooring or while bathing.
Depends how acidic the lake is :/
yeah i mean it would survive the dip just 6 months unlikely xD
Sigh... I'll grab the video 😛
No mansen I understand it can
Try Setapp for 7 day for free at http://stpp.co/MacAddress
I'm sure you've felt a pang of anxiety when holding your phone on a boat or dock; that when you drop it, it's over. But we discovered that there might be some hope. A Vancouver woman's iPhone was rescued 6 months after it plunged into Harrison Lake. All thanks to a local diver and impro...
It's LTT but the science is sound.
But not where I live
There's a local lake that isn't that clean and it destroys phones in just a few days
hol up, the new Apple watches only last at least 18 hours??

is that not pure shit for a smartwatch?
It's a watch. You're expected to put it on the nightstand charger every night.
Mine lasted at least a week before needing to charge
I always kept it on overnight to monitor my sleep and report it to me in the morning
what watch is that?
ah garmin yes i did think it would be
Who else has over a week and aod
i mean they are watches but not the same, this comes up a lot but both have pro/cons
I think my impression of Garmin has been ruined by their shitty car GPS things
Sure
But everything the watch can do without a touchscreen my Garmin can
The only thing I wish it could do is display emoji in texts 🤦♀️
yeah if it works for you its awesome, I was on smart watches from moto360 days so i adapted to battery life early on.
My galaxy watch 4 is great for me, I just drop it on charge when i have shower to top it up
The whole working without phone is another great thing
You don't need a phone at all
i never got the appeal of apple watches though, looks awful in my opinion. Much prefer a watch looking watch xD
Syncing heart rate and sleep online directly via WiFi
Being able to set up on a computer
Apparently the pebbles do that too, but they don't have depth ratings or even water resistance
the new one looks horrible ahah
i liked my pebble watch back in the day, it was reveloutionary
OLED is not the right tech for a watch imo
Rlcd best, ePaper acceptable
looks damn nice though
Especially the minimal purple and black face I had applied
Hows the direct sunlight visibility lel
amazing
Put it in direct sunlight and you'll see
I have, I went walking a lot with it to track my progress and heartrate and shit
and I never had issues seeing the screen
🤷 rlcd is something like 20x brighter in direct sunlight
ePaper is like 40
And you get 24/7 always on display
No having to shake your wrist to wake it up
You can check it discretely in meetings lel
I forgot if mine had AOD or not, didnt use it though, id prefer to just tap the screen or move my wrist up to check
24/7 aod for 2 weeks
ill be honest ive had no issue with sunlight legibility with GW4
microLED is the end game though, that would be the next future leap
Suprised there is not a pile of eink watches
Nobody really watches videos on them
Eink isn't that fantastic for watches since it requires complicated driving circuitry
https://twitter.com/NVIDIAHPCDev/status/1568313414463766529 damn isnt grace coming next year? surprised they already talk so much about it
Check out our top sessions covering all things #GraceCPU, starting Sept 19th. #GTC22
Thought it was already seeding?
Besides they already have the dpus which use the same cores basically
uhh thought I had seen someone talk about 23 release but cant find that on my timeline anymore
@MLCommons @nvidia @intel Intel here is using AMX INT8 instructions on early software.
Also if it wasn't public before, NVIDIA stated Grace is coming out first half 2023.
just weird to me to have public sessions about it when its only seeded to some that probably know best how to use it already
The day microLED gets per-pixel lighting is the day I am awaiting for
What
Another BSOD
I did update windows yesterday
I don't frequently have bsods
Now it's 2 in a row

I would strongly recommend grabbing a second harddrive and installing a fresh copy of Windows and just seeing if that BSODs as well "untouched"
Don't have one
I'll be building a PC later this year, probably
So I'll just delete everything and start this PC anew when I move to the other one
Any old shit drive will do.
Don't have one
😔
Not even bluescreenview can tell me what the bug check is
Yeah I have no clue how to read this thing
No clue wtf happened
The only thing I know is this https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/bug-check-0x13a--kernel-mode-heap-corruption
WHAT
Fuck off windows
Might be time to install Windows on top of uh Windows and cut your losses.
It's easy anti cheat that's causing it

I just did the same thing that crashed it the first time
Start EasyAntiCheat
Damn not only it's useless, it also crashes your PC
Oh it's the same thing causing blue screens as I had pepe laugh
Well when I went to fix it windows wasn't booting up properly anymore so reinstall it was
I am kinda scared to reset windows
I do remember doing registry hacks at some point
To fix issues that happened
I can't recall at all what they were, but I'm scared to make them appear again
Maybe your registry hacks weren't actually as beneficial as you thought
Hey if not for them I wouldn't have been able to even install Windows updates
They kept cancelling and restarting
Found one of the websites I visited
It actually took a long ass time to fix this
microLED is per pixel lighting :), miniLED is what you thinking about or I misread.
A project ive been keenly aware of for MicroLED was meant to be finished 5 years ago but has had so many delays its a little disappointing , its now finally at a producible point but not higher enough peak brightness nor consistency so will probably be another 5 before its really in the consumer hand let alone at a viable price point. I know Samsung and Sony already have some forms of microLED panels out but I havent seen those specifically.
The tech is very promising though, after seeing it first hand it really is the end game for many generations of displays.
In this video, we will take a look at Appel's new A16 Bionic SoC, compare with the previous A15 Bionic and try to figure out what has changed with this new generation. We will talk about CPU, GPU, NPU, the Display Engine and the ISP. Of course TSMCs new 4 nanometer process N4 is also part of the discussion.
Follow me on Twitter: https://twitter...
I think right now the issue with microLED is that the MicroLEDs have a less then stellar yield, then a highly precise machine needs to move them onto a substrate where they can be tested to see if the microLED is actually working, at which point you need to swap it out and test again. This process is what makes microLEDs expensive
oh its extremely expensive, company here has gone a different approach using sapphire crystal to significantly reduce cost which when it works will be a good leap forward but its had a few set backs mostly due to running out of money.
Not a problem now with FB funding a bucket load xD, following the development for so long now its been interesting seeing it develop
So the Odyssey G8 which is another QD oled monitor is coming in Q4, it only has micro hdmi and mini DP ports instead of normal size? also doesnt have the same hdr 1000 and also no g sync ultimate like the alienware lol @fickle ore might not be worth to wait for that
How good are those mini LEDs compared to IPS and VA?
And obviously how expensive are they in comparison
I saw an Asus Pro Duo which I have been scouting for a while now got a new version
Ditched the OLED display for mled
Good riddance, methinks
MiniLED only does the backlight, and require an lcd panel (IPS/VA)
If you meant microLED then microLED in theory has all the advantages of OLED, with greatly reduced burn in, bright displays ( as LEDs are more efficient the OLEDs)
One claim online said 5000 nits was possible
Also with pixels being more tightly packed could get away with lower resolution looking really good
It was this boy
Yeah it uses Mini LED
For some reason only on mid-range models
I just checkd it yesterday and it has hdmi 2.1 bc no g-sync ultimate, so it allows 10bit colors at 175 hz 1440p?
Or maybe the AW already does that
sure I guess, but you can get that with dp 1.4 anyway
its just weird they only have mini/micro connectors
like who tf has cables for that
dp 1.4 has bandwith for 1440p 175 hz 10bit color? Oo
Yeah it has minidp which is weird but hdmi 2.1 isn't mini
but there was no mention of vesa mounting
Ultimately it comes to that lol
Micro HDMI 2.1, Mini DisplayPort 1.4 und USB-C.
Lol ahh yeah it's micro hdmi 2.1. Weirdf.
granted they wont have overdrive issues even without gsync module since its oled
just weird to not go for it on a panel thats going to be high end
But they'll have included one in the box, if it slots into gpu. Tbh I'd rather have hdmi 2.1 than dp 1.4
@ashen spindle I disagree. Current g-sync ultimate module is bandwith limited to dp 1.4. Your AW Dell for example can do max 144 hz at 10 bit color. But dropping the g-sync they can add hdmi 2.1 which allows 175 hz at 10 bit color.
no I use displayport so I'm not limited to that
Huh?
hdmi 2.0 has 18gbit iirc and dp1.4 has around 30
so the bandwith for dp1.4 is enough to not be limited
I fail to see the issue
I might be wrong but according to, you're limited https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/comments/tsv23i/alienware_aw3423dw_qd_oled_what_refresh/
I'm lost, I don't understand what you meant
one sec
dp 1.4 max bandwith is 32.4gbps
to drive 3440x1440 at 175hz with 10 bit per pixel you need 31.21gbps
"If features and specs were living things, the AW3423DW would be the gaming monitor equivalent of a supergroup. It features a 34-inch ultrawide-screen display and an impressive 3440x1440 (2K) resolution. That resolution can run natively at 144Hz with 10-bit color or overclock to 175Hz if you stick with 8-bit." From AW QD-OLED review.
so I am getting all I can, the gsync module is not limiting it for the dp port, only if you use hdmi
No cable runs at 100%. You gotta account for encoding loss
Encoding Scheme: 8b/10b
But check on your monitor
Does it actually run 1440p/175/10 b?
That's easier haha
I mean the gsync module comes with a dp 1.4 requirement and there's no method to translate the VRR over cable to hdmi right now.
Tho Idk if they upgraded the module lately
you know you dont need hdmi for variable, you just obviously arent using the hdmi VRR in that case
oh you mean for the samsung
uhhh I know there are newer gsync modules, idk what they all do or if they are waiting for displayport 2.0 to use them
I'd still get gsync compatible or gsync or whatever it's called on their site. Basically worse gsync or lower range I guess? Just not the "ultimate" version. Hehe.
I mean they are presenting the monitor and it doesnt have either of those
only freesync certified
also yes its 8 bit but I also cant set it to 10bit so idk if my driver is working as it should
Ahh yeah.. ."The screen is certified under the AMD FreeSync Premium scheme though."
not that I'd need 10bit the last time I couldnt see a difference between 8 and 10bit on my previous screen
put hz to 144 then u can 10bit, test it
well yeah but I used to be able to set a custom setting basically overclocking it or at least trying, now I cant even try that and let if fail or not, it just doesnt save me setting it to 10bit
is there an online site to compare 8 vs 10
No idea. Afaik looking at shadows or shades of gray/black is best for that
TLDR; I guess it's a choice of AW Dell gsync-ultimate version or Samsung with shittier gsync but 10b colors at 175 instead of 8+frc dithering... Tho you may be able to get it on Dell aswell if you use CRU to save some bandwith..
well only a choice if you can see a differences otherwise its a clear option to go for AW
Unless it requires a 10 bit monitor to see differences in such a test?
Verify with 10bit 144 mode 😛
thats what I did
Oh
Anyway, no pricing yet so I'll get whichever is cheaper 😄
if you can even get the samsung one in stock lol
also how are electricity prices looking in your area out of curiosity
didnt ask you though
english is a funny language
How so? Probably getting owned soon. Currently 6 cents/kwh but I'm moving in a month and I can't transfer the plan eventho it was supposed to last until next year. Hehe. But prob gonna be in the 30-60 cents/kwh range.
Need to burn a lot of wood during winter`!
heh well set an extra 50$ aside for the screen power then perhaps xD
Oof yeah OLED. 50 per month or year?
idk just a random number dont actually know how much it would be
Yeah lots of ppl will be paying like 800-1k€ /month for electricity for this fall/winter
Gonna be .. epic..
god bless having a flatrate for another year that wont change price
and by then solar is installed
very lucky timings
Nice! I would too but decided to move anyway. Idk if you have District heating in germany but new place has that so not heating via gas or via electricity. Should be atleast a bit cheaper. Still gonna be like 200+€/month tho. Now I pay 30€/month heh.
Yeah it's quite nice. I have one in my place I bought. It's 10 years old tho so idk if I should buy a new one with better efficiency.
Eventually have to calculate.
We're talking air right?
well this house isnt a one family house so its a bit tricky, cant just put one in that would fit for most one family homes lmao
Mansion? 😄
lmfao I wish then I could probably just afford to do whatever
also district heating is a thing but not extended to this place just checked
uhhh need to check but I think it was around 6 cent
lucked
nah its just a gas flatrate since that makes it 10 times easier to calculate prices especially with multiple apartments
5.5 cent
and runs till september 23, so we wont have to worry about prices heh
uh, wait just july, still good though
Nice. Use that savings to buy intel stock!
so I can lose it all
Nope 😄 Will double atleast!
10 bit is used for HDR IRC
no thats hdr10
My monthly costs went up a bit. Paying 1100/2 € mortgage per month, and 300~ for electricity (heating + utility). But no more rent. That was 850€ total/2 between the lady and I.
that seems alright, obviously no clue about cost of living differences etc. for your place
Yeah should be fine. Only 200€/month interest atm.
depends, probably will have someone who knows more about it to come out next year or so and check what works, if air/water or some mix
if you're buying a water-air heat pump, don't get a monobloc. Get a split
oh its gonna be a while before anything does happen
Yup
This is why either company winning is bad for all of us
ehhh sure they can hide zen1 in 9xxx name technicaly but at least you will know that somehow
would prefer something better but at least there is some logic to it
and hopefully a bit consistency for some time
Here we go, again
A nice catchy title "Intel Arc GPUs could be canceled already"
Which website? Techradar
So, somewhat reliable
Might be something worth reading

Yes, prominent leaker
More like always wrong
I don't see Intel cancelling Arc
Rumours from far more reliable sources were that Intel has already prebuilt all the Arc GPU chips
Why would they not release the product
Also in case of laptops there is good reason to give a refresh with an older core a new number.
It differentiates between older models and newer models using older cores, there is really nothing wrong with the later as long as they are properly marked.
they could have slightly different sku's when recycling cores, for example higher frequency, another thing they could do is move them down the stack. so this year's ryzen x8xx may be next year's x6xx
Especially with newer nodes not getting any cheaper, it makes perfect sense to continue to manufacture older architectures on older nodes for some time.
The same people who defend this say intels naming scheme is too confusing lmao
And if Intel did this, people (probably including you) would say "wow this is crazy, Intel is trying to trick consumers by selling old chips as if they are new gen, this will encourage laptop manufacturers to rebadge old designs as new design just to trick the customers who don't keep up on the details"
Intel's naming scheme has been a mess for different reasons, with multiple naming schemes running at the same time. While arbitrary, at least you can decode the new AMD scheme pretty easily, and it's somewhat unified.
To the average consumer they will just look ryzen 5 7xxx and that should be a fair reflection of how amd sees the cpu in their product stack for that year.
I will add that the naming scheme for amd is somewhat akward as it won't take too long before they have to jump to an extra digit.
Thinking about it I fihnd it somewhat hard to create an universally better naming scheme.
Only thing I would change is add a - between the model year and the segment.
So 7-640u instead. especially going to 2026 that would be 10-660u
The new amd naming scheme seems done just for OEMs like Dell so each year sounds like a new CPU.
Its pretty bad, there are issues with the current logic but it is very close to being great so they should have left it really
can anyone help me with my double movment ive tried everything it just doesnt work
Start by heading over to #archived_fortnite_double_movement
ok thanks man
It's not just for oem sound, it's so they can reasonably keep older cpu cores on the market, without people thinking the laptops themselves are old stock.
Yeah I mean it's easy to rebage
I will grant you rebadging can be problematic, for example if they make a big leap in igp performance but the cpu core slots in somewhere else, or if you are missing big platform features.
Still I think it is somewhat reasonable at times to have the older chips as a more budget option at times.
While keeping your performance tiers somewhat clear.
To me the actual naming scheme itself does not matter much, as long as its somewhat easy to decode and is internally consistent. Which it is, so I have no problem with it.
Intel has 12000 1200, pentiums, celerons all on laptops. Still it's not that bad most of the time, and one thing they definitely do better than amd is stick to naming schemes.
Denial, bargaining, acceptance
I don't think we should be ok with this regardless of who does it
Especially when it is specifically designed to decouple technological generation from chronology
I personally am perfectly fine with it, it's just their 2023 lineup designated with nth line-up. It still clearly dedicates a digit to the actual cpu core generation. Unlike with previous generations where the odd numbers were an older cpu generation. In that sense I personally find it an improvement. The most important thing is that they should finally stick to one scheme.
You know like Intel has done?
what I think is better is that this is hopefully consistent, whereas intel has some logic behind it but then one generation has randomly G7 at the end, the other generation has a P
You can't complain about Intel doing the exact same thing then defend amd saying not only will they be doing the same thing, they will intentionally be making it in a way that will intentionally make it more confusing
First bit is tier, (i7,5,3,9)
Next is generation (nothing for first gen, 2-12 for following)
Remaining characters are the specific product code where higher is better
G3,5,7 are part of the remaining characters and happen to explain that they have the new graphics engine
You aren't required to check those numbers to find the actual generation of the product 🤦♂️
Hey now - That's MY job. 😛
Confusing to who exactly? the power user who reads the reviews?
The average consumer who knows nothing about generational improvement, and just wants to buy a recent laptop with a certain performance tier?
Assuming AMD is sort of consistent here the average consumer can be reasonably good at seeing okay a 7640 is faster than a 7530 sure the later may use newer cores but would still perform less.
If they were called 6600 and 7600 instead, being sold at the same time, the former being a refresh I still think as long as AMD is acting in good faith which I assume they generally will here, it may be clearer to them.
Does it really matter in the end what cpu generation it is as long as it's faster / slower in general use?
Ah that's the problem
Companies don't act in good faith
People within a company can try
But companies as a whole will not
Any argument relying on a company acting in good faith is inherently flawed
Sure, but it would be rather self-destructive to market your slower product as faster. I can see little reason for them to do so.
Lel
It would make them more money
Like the problem isn't gonna be amd here
The problem is oems will take advantage of this
...You have been replaced...
...prepare for reassignment...
Only if amd allows them to rebadge existing stock, which I have seen no intention from amd of doing.
Again
Even if they do, it will probably be moved down in the stack
a ryzen 7 may become a ryzen 5
Please 🤦
Nah I didn’t mix em up, but I did not know micro-LED was going to start and end with per-pixel, now I am even more excited
All I know is that it’s been stupidly expensive to make until now I believe
Also where have you seen it first hand :0
Modders be praised
@ashen spindle thoughts on 1 tb or 2 tb for gaming storage for the next 5+ years?
2 tb should be plenty
You can have like 20-50 games installed
Yeah sure, but I only ever play like 10 max. Just wanting to hear the perspective for expected game install size bloat in the next 5-10 yrs
Wouldn't call it a double standard - just really bad arbitrary moderation.
Aren't we allowed???
idk 2 tb usually costs the same $/gb and sometimes is a bit faster so might as well go with that, you'll need it if you dont want to uninstall games at some point
I have a SSD and a HDD, and just swap games in and out if I don't want to uninstall. A lot of games I simply plan on playing once, and practically archiving
WHO TF AT GIGABYTE DESIGNED THIS SHIT???
Boris - Talking about the "Normal" fan curve in the UEFI
I found a dirt cheap i9 11900k build with RTX 3080 and 32GB RAM. The only problem - it overheats. I find out why.
Fixing an overheating PC requires patience. But that is no problem for Dr. Boris with hammer. The i9 processor in this Aorus Model S is a powerhouse on its own producing more heat than babushka's oven, but putting that next to a RTX...
I imagine Nexus Mod's mods are too lazy to review all materials. I imagine it's a lot of work
how do I check fan speed in windows?
all the website recommend some really dodgy looking and named software
this is a chonky ass GPU cooler...
you mentioned you use wireless earbuds, you wanna swap to headphones?
A gigabyte prebuilt PC with an intel 9th gen (I think) and an RTX 3080
But, put into a Fractal case and given an AIO for CPU cooling
The massive block on the GPU is from the original case
11th
i9
yes
All browsers send data somewhere
also its not a sample
My friend's mind is blown when she learned that Chrome works on Linux...
Just asked if Extensions work too
I always knew 6.1 inches was the perfect size~
I think its borderline too large
You prefer a clean 6 incher?
more around 5.5-5.8
👍
Sick of the l o n g phase
Honestly I'm sick of notches too
I love my phone because the camera pops up
just want something that isn't too unwieldy to use one-handed
so just move it down with keyboard
wasnt it like last week we talked about moving a window with keys
try to resize and it will go back in bounds
moving with keys also should snap it back to the bounds if you end movement outside
yeah I did that xd
;-; the reg hack to move the taskbar to the top doesnt work anymore
Beautiful
There isn’t such, it’s all personal preference
And usecase
For people like me who use their phones for everything the bigger the phone the better
Easier to type fast, better for watching movies and games and such, more battery life
Well yes that’s too big
But when buttons are bigger it’s easier to be accurate even with speed
As long as left and right thumb can reach everywhere on the kb
With just one hand it’s different, there smaller phones are better
For me depends but usually still type normally
Not for me
If you could go to a new word by swiping over spacebar when swipe typing would consider using it
But meh
Idk when do I use it, sometimes I use it but idk why
I suppose when I am lazy
Does anyone know the diff between OptiPoint and OmniPoint? 🤔

FSR 2.1 vs DLSS Comparison in Cyberpunk 2077

#FSR #DLSS
Ngl weirdly I like the whole concept of instead of a single image, show an entire sequence side by side
So you can stop at any point and just compare the image quality
Youtube
Yeah yeah compression
There's no point in showing single images, since neither really have any trouble stationary
They could literally have done this with a gallery and clips.
But then it wouldn't be on youtube
So FSR 2.1 still has massive ghosting.
Uhh, it shouldn't?
Oh shit that's blatant
pretty sure FSR2.x comes with its own TAA which I doubt CP implemented so I don't think the comparison is valid since its not a native implementation
It's basically a game of wack a mole until it's gone
If it's what the player is seeing surely it's "valid" at time of testing 😄
not if you compare official implementation vs modded
Dlss has it it's just getting harder and harder to find since the folks working on it are cracking down
for that games sure, but not as a comparison between the tech in general
This is testing for a specific game though.
Same is true for dlss tho
sure hence I think its not a good comparison for the technologies and the video isn't really pointing out anything so it just compares it saying its fsr vs dlss
In CP2077* yes.
The fact that Nvidia spent more of their own engineer time making dlss good on cdprs engine is more a testament for Nvidia rather than a valid excuse for the comparison to be invalidates
dlss does
only in performance mode though
I guess that's just implementation in CP2077
there has always been noticeable ghosting in dlss if you wanted the frames per second
so yeah
Again no
yes
There are always some situations that create ghosting
that's what i'm saying?
But in some games the ghosting doesn't happen
everything i've played so far had ghosting
With my optimized settings in ghostrunner the ghosting was gone
that "some" has to be a couple of games
Most games should have a combination of settings that will make the ghosting go away
But again the same is true for fsr afaik
Holy moly something is going wrong with my phone keyboard, I cannot type correctly for the life of me
would be nice if that nvidia plugin that basically implements all 3 solutions was better so it could just be used instead of separate implementations still
What?
That's just a functional block diagram
nono
These aren't the actual plugins for unity or unreal
These are sdks for imbedding it in your game engine
hence I wish this was better so streamline could be used and you always have all options
🤷♂️ it's plug and play with unreal
sure but plenty of other engines that dont have it
The only relevant engines are unreal, unity, cry engine, source, and proprietary
It's not coming to source, it's already in unreal, unity, and cry engine.
All that's left is proprietary...
unity is taking fucking ages to get them implemented, did mention that to one of them at devcom lmao
and yes proprietary is a big one still, decent ammount that only have one if at all
like cmon they can't even name AMD by name in the graphic...
🤷♂️ Nvidia only helps out huge devs on proprietary engines
You know full well that's for legal reasons
why if they name intel
Ark team is probably happy to get publicity from nv and probably gave permission
fsr is open source and all on gpuopen, how would they legally not be able
Trademarks
The code is open but they can't use the name in this commercial setting
(probably)
well and if you dont push it, why make it in the first place
?
even if they help a dev to implement stremaline, wouldn't mean they suddenly have to help with implementing fsr and xess better, they could still focus on only getting dlss to work better
is there a good service to autotranslate srt subtitles?

yo has anyone had experience putting the 60he in a custom case? im gonna try it bc if were being honest the original case is kinda dogshit. I also ordered some new keycaps. any tips on how to not fuck it up? I never tried to mod any of my keyboards / building a custom one.
Submit or request a review of a case by adding a comment or posting on discord

must've been the first wave of gaming laptops so to speak (pre-2010s) which were power inefficient af running a 2020 release AAA game
https://twitter.com/IanCutress/status/1569233082212818944 nice of them to confirm RPL only exists because MTL is delayed lol
OK sorry reconfirmed this.
#IntelTechTour : PRL only exists because MTL wasn't going to be ready on time. RPL dev started 2 yr ago. GPU RTL and IO RTL hasn't changed from ADL. 41% improved MT perf of RPL over ADL, 15% ST, based on SPECint207.

Placeholder pricing for RTX 4090 is here Australia becomes the first country to list upcoming NVIDIA RTX 40 graphics cards. Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3090 Ti GAMING OC Gigabyte models are now confirmed by first retailer in Australia. The SKU models have become known thanks to the other retailer from Vietnam. So, not only are retailers […]
So, unaffordable
But they've been shifting the 90 model to be more and more the workstation model
placeholder price you should know that
nobody has the price yet
Well yeah, nobody will until Jensen opens his kitchen oven on a livestream
i know some of those words
next inel cpu only exists because the one after that is delayed
its chiplet based and only some parts from the current gen changed to keep costs low and make it something they could actually make in just two years
and based on one spec test its 40% better multithreaded 15% better singlethread
Why use PCIe x8 though
Half the bandwidth
I mean if they are using PCIe 5 then it's still a full PCIe 4 even if halved
So, I guess it's fine?
Wait until he finds out about the rx 6400
But is it even a cost cutting measure
Can't you disable certain lanes straight off the BIOS?
So how, logically, does it make sense to only use half the lanes
The 6400 has 4 lanes - yes this is a cost cutting measure
no its because the 6400 was only ever made for laptops originally
easier to make pcb, easier to reuse chips for other things, 8 lanes is more than enough since we are barely at a point where x16 on pcie3 gets maxed
I know about the part where going from PCIe3 to x8 or x4 to even PCIe 4 gets you maybe 2-3 FPS max on top
So the bandwidth doesn't really matter
But don't these things cost like, pennies? The PCIe lanes?
So it's really not about cost savings when it comes to materials
thats only on some cards and even then 2-3fps max as you said
oh no it costs a lot more
Still the cards themselves come with a full slot though
easier to make means less complex routing means easier to validate which makes it cheaper etc.
the length of the connector is just pennies of the material cost
well not directly, it depends on what card, idk how the difference is on nvidia vs amd with faster memoty vs infinity cache, idk how much comes from signal integrity being harder etc.
technically though unlikely it could also be that they only had room for x8 lanes on the gpu die or else some other part wasn't possible to add
while it obviously is saving costs, I would guess its more of a result rather then the reason for it
yes
you can already see this in other cards that don't have all the lanes
obviously needed otherwise it wouldn't fit into the x16 slot on boards lol
afaik devices with smaller interfaces can still be put into bigger slots
Don't the x4 M.2s fit into the x16 slot?
yes
So in theory you could add an x4 connector for M.2s to your GPU and the rest of it is just useless solid plastic to provide structural support
its structural support also in cases of a x16 slot that only has x8 lanes active, they are the ones away from the locking mechanicsm, so you need full length connector or it wouldn't work
you'd either have a connector that doesnt fit into the locking mechanism or not get a connection otherwise lmao
I'm just suggesting you use x4 connector just for the pins
And the rest of it is plastic
It'd still be the typical x16
Just only 4 of those pins are actually there
Rest is just plastic
I mean you don't NEED to lock the pcie device
you want to route a ssd through the gpu huh
Oh and
Has the PCIe power delivery improved since PCIe3 at all?
I had a 1050Ti that supplied itself from the PCIe itself
thankfully not
would be even more expensive to jump specs otherwise and more troublesome
Do people care for this?
Controller has cameras
its a leak not a reveal
Lol what
$1,500 price tag
Why??
Quest 2 is so damn popular cause it was 400$ for the longest of time
People will genuinely buy one for 1.5k?
because its not the same market
thats why its the quest pro and the quest 3 comes a year later or so
*300
Now it's 400
basically we know a month before meta connect event that the leaks for how its made what it has etc. seems accurate
thats all
Is it possible to download just a single folder from Github rather than the whole repo?
y
i guess so, but it probably requires some wieldy git commands. easiest is get entire repo, and keep what you want
or just google it and use the first result that shows you a website to download it
or use SVN to clone it
I want to download a eq preset folder from a repo without cloning the whole repo cause it's like 2gb large
have you tried googling for a solution
have you tried just downloading the files
id assume its not too many if its eq presets
Google drive?
have you tried restarting your computer?
wouldnt u know
1 google later
i already found literally a tutorial
but why google when u can ask here
Same here
second google result also works well a lot of times

No
Depends how good it is doesn't it?
It's not officially released yet so no confirmed specs.
It is more aimed at the commercial market not casual consumers. It's way more likely to be bought by businesses as time is money, if it does what they need it to do and does it better than their current setup it doesn't matter if it's £100 or a £1000 more it's time saved overall.
Much sleeker device so easier to manage day to day taking off and using for fatigue.
Better lenses, better display, more convenient charging system and what looks to be a significant improvement in tracking of controllers for more precise work.
Will see in October how it pans out!
Who would buy one in commercial market?
I'm rather interested
In my country the amount of "VR" places that exist you can count on fingers
I don't mean for arcades and entertainment.
Graphics design, cad work can be done on it with a very different perspective compared to 2d planes
Also it's only £500 more than the index if you assume the ballpark figure is real (doubt).
From the expected specs it looks significantly better for little more
VR is used in graphic design and CAD?
That's a bit weird to imagine
I would want to see it in action to believe
What is weird to imagine? Have you used VR before?
Of course
It's not uncommon these days to use VR for Industry, creative and even medical work.
Why not, being able to see whatever you're making like it's really in front of you sounds pretty neat
The reason I said so is cause at least the VRs I saw are just rather.. pixelated and blurry
And feel uncomfortable to use
The image clarity was lacking to me
So I do have my doubts of how you can use it to inspect your work if the device itself is nowhere near the fidelity of the human eye
For really basic CAD projects it's probably great
But in graphic design? I don't see it, I need evidence
Thats based on which VR set and the settings used. Early VR sets can get blurry indeed. But its gotten much better
Mine's a Quest 2
Blurriness is mostly with text as well* but i believe thats been improved
Aye. Check your steam VR settings on improving the AA and such
wow
quest pro leaked...
any INTERESTING vr headsets?
I kinda wonder if Deckard will get announced around, or possibly even during Meta's event...would make sense
Not yet
Deckard will prolly be the interesting one
But who knows when that's announced
Deckard announcement omegalul probably just cancelled
...idk mate
Yeah no way
They used to cancel software all the time
But they rarely cancel hardware
besides, wouldn't they stop updating the steamVR beta with features to support a new headset if that were the case?
Licherally just to fool with us
look, worst they could do is just say "look, we canned deckard a couple months back"
which seems really unlikely considering the steam deck was a huge success and...well, a new wave of VR headsets are coming out
may as well throw their names in the hat and potentially establish a foothold in that market
Clearly just waiting on RDNA3 gigacopium
that and they've already done a decent chunk of the legwork to make it
...isn't that already being produced for the initial wave of GPU sales following announcement?
Hopefully..
nah nvidia likely just started mass production and amd either did the same or will start that a bit later
timeline for production validation test was august still
Still blurry? Do you wear glasses ?
The quest 2 native resolution is definitely a massive step up from past headsets, I wouldn't say it's blurry anymore.
I got to the point I actually bought prescription lenses to slot on them as my eye sight was limiting me now!
The pro will have noticeably higher resolution and has totally different lenses.
A good idea. I was thinking maybe contacts or something.
@cursive summit is the quest able to adjust the eyes like the vive/index can? Where you can adjust where the lens are positioned on your face*
Yes
Mine can
Both distance and the orientation
I think?
Well they definitely have distance
And I think the lenses slide left and right a bit for like some extra leeway
quest 2 does not have free IPD settings like other hmds have, just some presets and software adjustment
Still blurry af but at this point it's my far-sighted eyesight I think
If peeps are saying it's good then it has to be my eyesight
your ipd might also just not fit the quest presets
Yeah the 3 preset settings for quest 2 covers "most" but some fall outside the range and it's not ideal then.
The sweet spot for the lenses are pretty big though which is one big thing from other headsets as it's easy to get a good focus.
I am short sighted and don't really use my glasses besides driving as it's not bad but on the quest 2 it was almost as big as going from SD to HD again!
It can obviously be better but at native it is very solid now, text is readable (note it's still not like a 1080p monitor here) but for everything else it's far from blurry now.
The extra resolution from this new one I would expect to be enough of a jump to bring the text ever further.
October will be interesting, wonder if valve will announce their headset at some point
https://twitter.com/NVIDIAGeForce/status/1569341255460737026 official date announcement, though it was in the last message already
I'll fix it for you
NVIDIA R&D division
Objective: #ProjectTDP
Status: sips
Time: relevant until fucked by RDNA3
I mean RDNA3 is looking very promising but no point counting it as a win yet.
Nvidia haven't exactly slept on their advantage (unlike Intel) so it is likely very competitive.
We'll see
Nvidia will probably as always claim the perf crown
But efficiency wise I bet they'll die this generation
Also mid end Radeon will dominate imo
Radeon's high end was always great perf, affordable
My entire thing is less about the performance and more just the lack of any other software or support from AMD
Its like buy a AMD card and get just a GPU, or buy Nvidia and get a little more
Heh?
what is missing that you are using
Get what more
I just want graphics cards with good performance for good prices hopium
Seems unlikely due to node change especially since it's TSMC fabricating it this time.
no seems very likely since they still using a monolithic design
@cursive summit Shadowplay, Ray Tracing, DLSS
?
all on AMD as well
RePlay, RayTracing, FSR?
The only one where AMD is behind is raytracing
But that's just hardware
RePlay is terrible can't believe you mentioned that lol
How is RePlay terrible
Does Replay even exist anymore?
think its called relive or so no
It seems to be incorporated into the adrenalin software
I doubt their efficiency would regress though it will improve.
AMD efficiency gap will probably increase a bit but not enough to say it's a big reason to get it over NVIDIA.
At least that's my educated assumption, we shall see later this year tho!
@ashen spindle the different name scheme every couple years shows the software is terrible
but its not
Ah yeah it's called ReLive now
And no it's not terrible
Iirc it might be even better than Nvidia at this point
its called relive for at least 4 years now and I've had no issues with it in the last 2 years that I used it
Ah
I am just going based off the countless post I see on r/AMD
ah yes, reddit
It's funny how contrasting reddit is
No it doesn't.... AMD has equivalent live recording and game recording with similar if not less overhead.
Raytracing is slower but rasterisation is faster and their ray tracing performance will significantly improve next generation buts "fine" now .
FSR is pretty much on par with DLSS now at 2.1
Yeah recording wise they caught up
FSR's great especially now that they do easy to implement open source
RT perf is just on its first generation now, so slow
Just like RTX 2000 was
btw you know that its not called shadowplay anymore but nvidia share
because thats how people now it
Ngl that name is amazing
and sounds better tbh
I just enjoy my Nvidia GPU's , I gave AMD a shot before my 2070, was not a good time
We all have different experiences
5600XT
ok but that's just as valid as saying thats in the past and drivers on both side are different and nvidia could fuck up just as well now
5000 series cards are a mess
if you gave amd cpus a chance before zen you are on bulldozer and thats not even remotely the same lol
But they have not fucked up for me.. I could care less about the possibility
I always root for the underdog, but RDNA1 is ass
Performance is great
But stability, drivers? Not at all
and thats fine, but very different from "lack of any other software or support"
I hope someone would trade this RX 5700 for an RX 6700
@ashen spindle I yes Ryzen for CPU side, I am not against AMD just against the GPU's from past experiences
Fair enough
But don't hold grudges for a prolonged time since hardware always improves
yeah I'm saying it's the same though, you can expect something but based on rdna2 we can also already expect more on gpu side
doesnt really make sense to base it on an older generation instead of the current one
/shrug my 5700xt works fine
I always do because when I upgrade its not just the price of the card, I am spending another $200-300 on a waterblock for said card
My RX 5700 sometimes works fine
Most of the time
Then it just crashes the drivers
Cause fuck you
@cursive summit lol see that is what scares me about them
That's just 5000 series
It's infamous for terrible stability
I hadn't heard about such things from RX 6000
Let alone the upcoming RX 7000 shouldn't have it
ok but if we pretend its cpus, then you would be saying Zen2 is going to be really scary because bulldozer was bad, despite zen1 being out for 2 years
currently you are afraid next gen has issues because previous gen had issues despite current gen not having that
5700xt was bad at launch but significantly improved, i have a few friends who had issues at launched but no more.
That's not to say you won't experience issues but to be honest pre RNDA2 really can be seen as the pre Zen era of CPU.
AMD had no cash for GPU, Zen was the gamble so GPU budget was cut and finally that gamble paid off and they have been increasing budget significantly to fight on both fronts .
RDNA2 launch was solid (ignoring pricing haha)
RDNA3 will likely be better.
RDNA2 is a pretty great product
They made great strides on GPU design
And now they are doing overtime on drivers
And boy they are doing amazing work on drivers
+100% perf in some cases is insane with just a driver update
RDNA was finally a move away from GCN which was a lot of the reasons for issues, it was a huge change for AMD and on a shoestring budget.
It's impressive but honestly they should have delayed it and fixed all the launch issues but it's in the past can't fix that.
Remember, it wasn't truly RDNA
It was a weird half amalgamation of GCN and RDNA
RDNA2 is the one that was completely different
And RDNA1 was just shit at start
Here in the US, 6000 series cards were almost double the price of Nvidia, so it was not a move. Not sure how it was in other parts of the world
That was most of the issues, it had to have a lot of changes driver wise for it all.
It was essentially the Zen launch at that point
that's just not true
maybe in your local store idk
@ashen spindle Yea Microcenter the cheaptest eletronic store in the US
Even though I live in Europe that sounds highly unlikely
show me an example
@ashen spindle Best Buy had none in stock, Amazon was all scalpers, Microcenter was the only place outside of buying a bor you could get one
you could also buy them from amd directly
Here on UK it was cheaper when stock was in and they were more often.
No one should be saying buy X brand for GPU.
It should be when both are out with their cards you should check relevant benchmarks for your games and see which performs better and get the cheaper one unless X has a feature you really need/want
Yea now @cursive summit I am talking about during lockdown
Yeah during lockdown AMD suffered
When the cards launched and the time after, not now
But now they're cheaper
yeah obviously, but miners payed even more for nvidia cards so them being cheaper makes no sense
it wasn't like that in any part of the world
Fam wtf are these prices, 999 for 6950XT
Brand loyalty is stupid for corps of this scale, I will pick AMD if they are on par but if it's below I will go NVIDIA.
AMD provides more for the consumer as a whole over the years due to it being the underdog it HAD to be nice in the market with open source tools and features.
If AMD gets full dominance like Nvidia had then it would also do the same as Nvidia did.
I got cockteased
See I would buy from Mindfactory, but they don't ship to other countries
Unless you are a company
I have a 2070.. I buy gaming cards
Unlike in U.S typically every European retailer has to list a price with taxes
So the price you see is what you pay without the delivery, obviously
That's why I get cockteased by amazon.com and their tiny prices
They aren't tiny, just pre-tax
that doesnt change that for him after taxes it still would be 1500...
RTX 3070 is finally normal priced
@cursive summit but I am a watercooler I am not sticking a fanned up card in my pc
Oh no false alert
Only reason I stated $1500
Some mongol put 3060Ti as 3070Ti
Dude trying to pull a slick one on a dumb person
Just buy a reference AMD board and pay less overall.
AMD seems way simpler to buy a waterblock for assuming it's a reference board.
in that situation it helps to have friends from germany
gl getting a refernce card at a better price xD
you should get some
I mean yeah it's silly to buy now if you held off so long you may as well wait a month or two to get Nvidia or AMD as both are going to be big jumps FOR RRP If you pre-order fast
I am chilling on my 2070, I want a CPU upgrade if anything. Games like Hell Let Loose and Squad suffer on my 2700x
Also best rule is to never buy the flagship, buy the second tier card (assuming your budget is fine) as you just lose SO much money for very little change.
^^^
rn flagship cards are very well priced it seems
How're Finland's gas and electricity prices doing?
flagship cards are always a decent price... if next gen is around the corner xD
I mean are they?? No way a 6950xt is worth €1300
you can get them for 999
it s 900-1000€
on mydealz I have seen it for 900
amds store just hasnt changed prices since release despite pricecuts for AiBs
Ah I missed the other screenshot haha.
I'd still say it's pretty poor value for money, better than launch but €900 will get you a better card from NVIDIA or AMD when they launch their cards shortly.
