I'll be waiting for next gen GPUs

#

And maybe something on the 7000X3D

stark bobcat
#

I'm sure this is excluding shipping tho

ashen spindle
#

mindfactory has it at 159

#

ah darn meeting is over early now I have to work instead of just listen to weird decisions

stark bobcat
#

I hate when Mindfactory has a sale for thermal paste for 1€ and then ask me to pay 10€ in shipping

#

🤣

cursive summit
#

Can't they just, idk wrap it with the CPU if you are buying them together?

#

What's even the good paste nowadays

#

I still have a tube of Grizzly Cryonaut

stark bobcat

Didn't read since I can't afford it right now anyway

fair gull
#

on a tech related note i might score a dl160 g8 for free

wheat plume
#

Apple only remove something so they can sell a replacement

No jack? Buy Airpods
No charger in the box? Use Magsafe
No physical Sim card? No idea what Apples replacement will be

I predict Apple will start offering eSIM plans soon

fair gull
#

i predict they wont

#

cause apple watches had esim for ages

#

in basically all countries

wheat plume
#

Hmm

cursive summit
#

WINDOWS

fair gull
#

esim imo is just a smart move in general

cursive summit
wheat plume
#

So Apple are ok with a bunch of people not buying their newest flagships because they cannot get an eSIM plan in their country?

fair gull
#

ya so bluescreenview and check why it occured

cursive summit
#

Yeah not the first time

#

Typically it's AMD's drivers

fair gull
#

so

wheat plume
fair gull
#

its not windows but amd being shite

cursive summit
#

Will check wtf does registry say

ashen spindle
#

yes for the third time its only the us models that are esim only

reef patrol
wheat plume
#

Hmmm ..idk

#

Makes travelling harder also

fair gull
#

2 models

wheat plume
#

And a lot of business people travel

fair gull
#

nano and esim

reef patrol
#

No - eSim should have been standard - GLOBALLY 😛

fair gull
#

or dual esim

ashen spindle
#

it really doesnt make it harder, it makes it harder if you have only a plan that sucks for other countries AND the other country doesnt have esim providers

fair gull
#

how does esim make traveling harder

reef patrol
wheat plume
#

If the place you are going doesn't offer a temporary eSIM plan

thick elk
#

The problem with e-sim it shifts all the shittyness to the phone manufacturer instead of the provider.

fair gull
#

those providers will have to support it cause apple

thick elk
#

Apple too bad, we don't support provider x

reef patrol
#

It's such a simple change though.

ashen spindle
#

yeah providers arent wanting to lose all apple customers so they will have to offer it

#

for once apple forcing a good change

#

that should have already been a thing as mansen pointed out repeatedly

fair gull
#

ya

#

esim is a nice thing imo

cursive summit
#

Yeah event viewer tells me literally nothing why the PC just bluescreened

thick elk
#

Still it does have some drawbacks, mostly because e-sim is device attached, so switching devices could be hindered.
Another thing is providers could negotiate stricter limits with phone makers.

fair gull
#

fuck event viewer

#

that shit is as useless as my grandma on a pc

reef patrol
#

SIM cards haven't been used for their full purpose for a decade and a half in most countries. It used to store your contacts to move between phones, it used to have simple apps for topping up your payment plan and provide settings for calls and such (what we now typically do through phonecall codes and * #)

They just contain a bit of unique information. Exactly what a phone has been able to do for so long at this point with no meaningful issues.

fair gull
#

sim cards hold 2 infos in 99percent of the case these days and nothing more

#

well 3

#

a pin

#

super pin

#

and the sim id

cursive summit
#

What am I supposed to make of this Lul

fair gull
#

esim has a simid and well u have ur own lockscreen pin

#

that small sliver doesnt tell me shit

#

cause u removed all the good info

reef patrol
fair gull
#

like the bsod u selected

#

the other modules loaded

#

their addresses

cursive summit
#

Where am I exactly supposed to look here to find anything about why this thing crashed

#

The kernel thing was red, so I guess it just had some inner exception and died

fair gull
#

just send me the dmp file

#

@cursive summit apparently firefox.exe crashed it by calling NpReadDataQueue in Npfs.sys

cursive summit
#

How did you even find that

fair gull
#

by analyzing the dump file

cursive summit
#

So, is this just like a random error?

#

What

fair gull
#

npfs is an actual windows driver which if memory serves just makes devices acceasible to the HAL

cursive summit
#

HAH

#

DISCORD .EXE IS A SCAM URL

fair gull
#

yes

cursive summit
#

So what'd be the fix for this

#

Do nothing or mess with premissions or something

fair gull
#

id prob run a chkdsk with the /f /r /x options on the c drive or whatever ur os is and maybe do a repair install of win10

#

aka upgrading to the latest win10 even if u already have it

#

that way files like that get properly replaced

#

u need to update win10 anyway vexx

#

ure running 2004

#

not even 21h2

cursive summit
#

Uhh I think I have my updates?

#

Huh

fair gull
#

system info

#

that shows build

ty

fair gull

cursive summit
fair gull
#

huh

#

bsod literally lists the build wrong

#

good to know

cursive summit
#

Wait if I already have 21H2

#

Why is it "optional"

fair gull
#

thats a quality rollup

misty saffron
#

wat, NtBuildlab literally can’t be wrong

fair gull
#

it literally says 19041.1

#

nothing else

misty saffron
#

then they haven’t updated nt in 21h2

fair gull
#

so why does the system settings show it different then

#

19044 to begin with

#

not 19041

misty saffron
#

because the dump generator uses NtBuildlab

#

which is initialized with a static string

fair gull
#

bruh why cant they fetch values dynamically

misty saffron
#

appended there in compile time

#

because it’s irrelevant to a person debugging

fair gull
#

anyway vexx just upgrade to 21h2 again to make sure sys files are fresh and good

cursive summit
#

I don't recall why but I did have a lot of issues recently

#

Now I completely forgot why

#

Oh yeah windows update wouldn't install

#

It'd start installing update, cancel it at like 10% and reboot

#

I had to go through like 20 different microsoft websites to find a fix

stark bobcat

I sure love reinstalling windows at least that fixes everything most of the time

cursive summit

Something about registry iirc

misty saffron

Found one of the websites I visited

It actually took a long ass time to fix this

tropic nacelle
# pine zealot The day microLED gets per-pixel lighting is the day I am awaiting for

microLED is per pixel lighting :), miniLED is what you thinking about or I misread.

A project ive been keenly aware of for MicroLED was meant to be finished 5 years ago but has had so many delays its a little disappointing , its now finally at a producible point but not higher enough peak brightness nor consistency so will probably be another 5 before its really in the consumer hand let alone at a viable price point. I know Samsung and Sony already have some forms of microLED panels out but I havent seen those specifically.

The tech is very promising though, after seeing it first hand it really is the end game for many generations of displays.

ashen spindle
mild dome
#

I think right now the issue with microLED is that the MicroLEDs have a less then stellar yield, then a highly precise machine needs to move them onto a substrate where they can be tested to see if the microLED is actually working, at which point you need to swap it out and test again. This process is what makes microLEDs expensive

tropic nacelle
#

oh its extremely expensive, company here has gone a different approach using sapphire crystal to significantly reduce cost which when it works will be a good leap forward but its had a few set backs mostly due to running out of money.

Not a problem now with FB funding a bucket load xD, following the development for so long now its been interesting seeing it develop

ashen spindle
#

So the Odyssey G8 which is another QD oled monitor is coming in Q4, it only has micro hdmi and mini DP ports instead of normal size? also doesnt have the same hdr 1000 and also no g sync ultimate like the alienware lol @fickle ore might not be worth to wait for that

cursive summit
#

How good are those mini LEDs compared to IPS and VA?

#

And obviously how expensive are they in comparison

#

I saw an Asus Pro Duo which I have been scouting for a while now got a new version

#

Ditched the OLED display for mled

#

Good riddance, methinks

mild dome
#

MiniLED only does the backlight, and require an lcd panel (IPS/VA)

If you meant microLED then microLED in theory has all the advantages of OLED, with greatly reduced burn in, bright displays ( as LEDs are more efficient the OLEDs)

#

One claim online said 5000 nits was possible

empty wren
#

Also with pixels being more tightly packed could get away with lower resolution looking really good

cursive summit
#

It was this boy

#

Yeah it uses Mini LED

#

For some reason only on mid-range models

fickle ore
#

Or maybe the AW already does that

ashen spindle
#

sure I guess, but you can get that with dp 1.4 anyway

#

its just weird they only have mini/micro connectors

#

like who tf has cables for that

fickle ore
#

dp 1.4 has bandwith for 1440p 175 hz 10bit color? Oo

fickle ore
#

but there was no mention of vesa mounting

#

Ultimately it comes to that lol

ashen spindle
#

Micro HDMI 2.1, Mini DisplayPort 1.4 und USB-C.

fickle ore
ashen spindle
#

granted they wont have overdrive issues even without gsync module since its oled

#

just weird to not go for it on a panel thats going to be high end

fickle ore
ashen spindle
#

im talking about not having a gsync module

#

not the cable

fickle ore
#

@ashen spindle I disagree. Current g-sync ultimate module is bandwith limited to dp 1.4. Your AW Dell for example can do max 144 hz at 10 bit color. But dropping the g-sync they can add hdmi 2.1 which allows 175 hz at 10 bit color.

ashen spindle
#

no I use displayport so I'm not limited to that

fickle ore
#

Huh?

ashen spindle
#

hdmi 2.0 has 18gbit iirc and dp1.4 has around 30

#

so the bandwith for dp1.4 is enough to not be limited

fickle ore
#

??

#

hdmi 2.1 is 48 gb/s

ashen spindle
#

I fail to see the issue

fickle ore
#

I'm lost, I don't understand what you meant

ashen spindle
#

one sec

#

dp 1.4 max bandwith is 32.4gbps

#

to drive 3440x1440 at 175hz with 10 bit per pixel you need 31.21gbps

fickle ore
#

"If features and specs were living things, the AW3423DW would be the gaming monitor equivalent of a supergroup. It features a 34-inch ultrawide-screen display and an impressive 3440x1440 (2K) resolution. That resolution can run natively at 144Hz with 10-bit color or overclock to 175Hz if you stick with 8-bit." From AW QD-OLED review.

ashen spindle
#

so I am getting all I can, the gsync module is not limiting it for the dp port, only if you use hdmi

fickle ore
#

Encoding Scheme: 8b/10b

#

But check on your monitor

#

Does it actually run 1440p/175/10 b?

#

That's easier haha

fickle ore
#

Tho Idk if they upgraded the module lately

ashen spindle
#

you know you dont need hdmi for variable, you just obviously arent using the hdmi VRR in that case

#

oh you mean for the samsung

#

uhhh I know there are newer gsync modules, idk what they all do or if they are waiting for displayport 2.0 to use them

fickle ore
ashen spindle
#

I mean they are presenting the monitor and it doesnt have either of those

#

only freesync certified

#

also yes its 8 bit but I also cant set it to 10bit so idk if my driver is working as it should

fickle ore
#

Ahh yeah.. ."The screen is certified under the AMD FreeSync Premium scheme though."

ashen spindle
#

not that I'd need 10bit the last time I couldnt see a difference between 8 and 10bit on my previous screen

fickle ore
ashen spindle
#

well yeah but I used to be able to set a custom setting basically overclocking it or at least trying, now I cant even try that and let if fail or not, it just doesnt save me setting it to 10bit

fickle ore
#

Ahh, hmm.

#

god what a mess. AMD's equivalent.

ashen spindle
#

is there an online site to compare 8 vs 10

fickle ore
ashen spindle
#

ah found a repo with gradient videos

#

yeah I can not see any difference

fickle ore
#

TLDR; I guess it's a choice of AW Dell gsync-ultimate version or Samsung with shittier gsync but 10b colors at 175 instead of 8+frc dithering... Tho you may be able to get it on Dell aswell if you use CRU to save some bandwith..

ashen spindle
#

well only a choice if you can see a differences otherwise its a clear option to go for AW

fickle ore
#

Verify with 10bit 144 mode 😛

ashen spindle
#

thats what I did

fickle ore
#

Oh

ashen spindle
fickle ore

Here we go, again

#

A nice catchy title "Intel Arc GPUs could be canceled already"

#

Which website? Techradar

#

So, somewhat reliable

#

Might be something worth reading

#

Yes, prominent leaker

#

More like always wrong

#

I don't see Intel cancelling Arc

#

Rumours from far more reliable sources were that Intel has already prebuilt all the Arc GPU chips

#

Why would they not release the product

thick elk
#

Also in case of laptops there is good reason to give a refresh with an older core a new number.

#

It differentiates between older models and newer models using older cores, there is really nothing wrong with the later as long as they are properly marked.

#

they could have slightly different sku's when recycling cores, for example higher frequency, another thing they could do is move them down the stack. so this year's ryzen x8xx may be next year's x6xx

#

Especially with newer nodes not getting any cheaper, it makes perfect sense to continue to manufacture older architectures on older nodes for some time.

astral haven
#

The same people who defend this say intels naming scheme is too confusing lmao

And if Intel did this, people (probably including you) would say "wow this is crazy, Intel is trying to trick consumers by selling old chips as if they are new gen, this will encourage laptop manufacturers to rebadge old designs as new design just to trick the customers who don't keep up on the details"

thick elk
#

Intel's naming scheme has been a mess for different reasons, with multiple naming schemes running at the same time. While arbitrary, at least you can decode the new AMD scheme pretty easily, and it's somewhat unified.
To the average consumer they will just look ryzen 5 7xxx and that should be a fair reflection of how amd sees the cpu in their product stack for that year.

#

I will add that the naming scheme for amd is somewhat akward as it won't take too long before they have to jump to an extra digit.
Thinking about it I fihnd it somewhat hard to create an universally better naming scheme.
Only thing I would change is add a - between the model year and the segment.
So 7-640u instead. especially going to 2026 that would be 10-660u

tropic nacelle
#

The new amd naming scheme seems done just for OEMs like Dell so each year sounds like a new CPU.

Its pretty bad, there are issues with the current logic but it is very close to being great so they should have left it really

vivid steppe
#

can anyone help me with my double movment ive tried everything it just doesnt work

crimson wigeon
vivid steppe
#

ok thanks man

thick elk
#

It's not just for oem sound, it's so they can reasonably keep older cpu cores on the market, without people thinking the laptops themselves are old stock.

tropic nacelle

Yeah I mean it's easy to rebage

I will grant you rebadging can be problematic, for example if they make a big leap in igp performance but the cpu core slots in somewhere else, or if you are missing big platform features.
Still I think it is somewhat reasonable at times to have the older chips as a more budget option at times.

#

While keeping your performance tiers somewhat clear.

astral haven
#

You addressed none of what I said btw

#

In fact you basically proved my point

thick elk
#

To me the actual naming scheme itself does not matter much, as long as its somewhat easy to decode and is internally consistent. Which it is, so I have no problem with it.
Intel has 12000 1200, pentiums, celerons all on laptops. Still it's not that bad most of the time, and one thing they definitely do better than amd is stick to naming schemes.

astral haven
#

Denial, bargaining, acceptance

#

I don't think we should be ok with this regardless of who does it
Especially when it is specifically designed to decouple technological generation from chronology

thick elk
#

I personally am perfectly fine with it, it's just their 2023 lineup designated with nth line-up. It still clearly dedicates a digit to the actual cpu core generation. Unlike with previous generations where the odd numbers were an older cpu generation. In that sense I personally find it an improvement. The most important thing is that they should finally stick to one scheme.

astral haven
#

You know like Intel has done?

ashen spindle
#

what I think is better is that this is hopefully consistent, whereas intel has some logic behind it but then one generation has randomly G7 at the end, the other generation has a P

reef patrol
#

Hey now - That's MY job. 😛

thick elk
#

Confusing to who exactly? the power user who reads the reviews?
The average consumer who knows nothing about generational improvement, and just wants to buy a recent laptop with a certain performance tier?
Assuming AMD is sort of consistent here the average consumer can be reasonably good at seeing okay a 7640 is faster than a 7530 sure the later may use newer cores but would still perform less.
If they were called 6600 and 7600 instead, being sold at the same time, the former being a refresh I still think as long as AMD is acting in good faith which I assume they generally will here, it may be clearer to them.

#

Does it really matter in the end what cpu generation it is as long as it's faster / slower in general use?

astral haven
#

Ah that's the problem

#

Companies don't act in good faith

#

People within a company can try

#

But companies as a whole will not

#

Any argument relying on a company acting in good faith is inherently flawed

thick elk
#

Sure, but it would be rather self-destructive to market your slower product as faster. I can see little reason for them to do so.

Lel

#

It would make them more money

pretty sure FSR2.x comes with its own TAA which I doubt CP implemented so I don't think the comparison is valid since its not a native implementation

It's basically a game of wack a mole until it's gone

not if you compare official implementation vs modded

Dlss has it it's just getting harder and harder to find since the folks working on it are cracking down

for that games sure, but not as a comparison between the tech in general

reef patrol
#

This is testing for a specific game though.

astral haven
ashen spindle
#

sure hence I think its not a good comparison for the technologies and the video isn't really pointing out anything so it just compares it saying its fsr vs dlss

reef patrol
#

In CP2077* yes.

astral haven
#

The fact that Nvidia spent more of their own engineer time making dlss good on cdprs engine is more a testament for Nvidia rather than a valid excuse for the comparison to be invalidates

misty saffron

I guess that's just implementation in CP2077

astral haven

Not in that specific scene

It's what corner cases did the engineers catch

there has always been noticeable ghosting in dlss if you wanted the frames per second

Again no

that "some" has to be a couple of games

Why use PCIe x8 though

#

Half the bandwidth

#

I mean if they are using PCIe 5 then it's still a full PCIe 4 even if halved

#

So, I guess it's fine?

stark bobcat
#

Wait until he finds out about the rx 6400

cursive summit
#

But is it even a cost cutting measure

#

Can't you disable certain lanes straight off the BIOS?

#

So how, logically, does it make sense to only use half the lanes

stark bobcat
#

The 6400 has 4 lanes - yes this is a cost cutting measure

ashen spindle
#

no its because the 6400 was only ever made for laptops originally

cursive summit
#

Quintosh you're clever

#

Why use only half the lanes

ashen spindle
#

easier to make pcb, easier to reuse chips for other things, 8 lanes is more than enough since we are barely at a point where x16 on pcie3 gets maxed

cursive summit
#

I know about the part where going from PCIe3 to x8 or x4 to even PCIe 4 gets you maybe 2-3 FPS max on top

#

So the bandwidth doesn't really matter

#

But don't these things cost like, pennies? The PCIe lanes?

#

So it's really not about cost savings when it comes to materials

ashen spindle
#

thats only on some cards and even then 2-3fps max as you said

#

oh no it costs a lot more

cursive summit
#

Still the cards themselves come with a full slot though

ashen spindle
#

easier to make means less complex routing means easier to validate which makes it cheaper etc.

#

the length of the connector is just pennies of the material cost

cursive summit
#

So it's all the wiring that's the bulk of the cost

#

Roger...

ashen spindle
#

well not directly, it depends on what card, idk how the difference is on nvidia vs amd with faster memoty vs infinity cache, idk how much comes from signal integrity being harder etc.

#

technically though unlikely it could also be that they only had room for x8 lanes on the gpu die or else some other part wasn't possible to add

#

while it obviously is saving costs, I would guess its more of a result rather then the reason for it

stark bobcat
#

you can already see this in other cards that don't have all the lanes

ashen spindle
#

obviously needed otherwise it wouldn't fit into the x16 slot on boards lol

stark bobcat
#

afaik devices with smaller interfaces can still be put into bigger slots

cursive summit
#

Don't the x4 M.2s fit into the x16 slot?

stark bobcat
#

yes

cursive summit
#

So in theory you could add an x4 connector for M.2s to your GPU and the rest of it is just useless solid plastic to provide structural support

ashen spindle
#

its structural support also in cases of a x16 slot that only has x8 lanes active, they are the ones away from the locking mechanicsm, so you need full length connector or it wouldn't work

#

you'd either have a connector that doesnt fit into the locking mechanism or not get a connection otherwise lmao

cursive summit
#

I'm just suggesting you use x4 connector just for the pins

#

And the rest of it is plastic

#

It'd still be the typical x16

#

Just only 4 of those pins are actually there

#

Rest is just plastic

stark bobcat
#

I mean you don't NEED to lock the pcie device

ashen spindle
#

you want to route a ssd through the gpu huh

cursive summit
#

Oh and

#

Has the PCIe power delivery improved since PCIe3 at all?

I had a 1050Ti that supplied itself from the PCIe itself

stark bobcat

# cursive summit People will genuinely buy one for 1.5k?

Depends how good it is doesn't it?
It's not officially released yet so no confirmed specs.

It is more aimed at the commercial market not casual consumers. It's way more likely to be bought by businesses as time is money, if it does what they need it to do and does it better than their current setup it doesn't matter if it's £100 or a £1000 more it's time saved overall.

Much sleeker device so easier to manage day to day taking off and using for fatigue.

Better lenses, better display, more convenient charging system and what looks to be a significant improvement in tracking of controllers for more precise work.

Will see in October how it pans out!

I am short sighted and don't really use my glasses besides driving as it's not bad but on the quest 2 it was almost as big as going from SD to HD again!

It can obviously be better but at native it is very solid now, text is readable (note it's still not like a 1080p monitor here) but for everything else it's far from blurry now.

Just like RTX 2000 was

ashen spindle
cursive summit
#

They renamed shadowplay?

#

Why is everyone still calling it shadowplay then dogekek

ashen spindle
#

because thats how people now it

cursive summit
#

Ngl that name is amazing

ashen spindle
#

and sounds better tbh

vivid vine
#

I just enjoy my Nvidia GPU's , I gave AMD a shot before my 2070, was not a good time

#

We all have different experiences

cursive summit
#

What card

#

5700? monkaS

vivid vine
#

5600XT

ashen spindle
#

ok but that's just as valid as saying thats in the past and drivers on both side are different and nvidia could fuck up just as well now

cursive summit
#

5000 series cards are a mess

ashen spindle
#

if you gave amd cpus a chance before zen you are on bulldozer and thats not even remotely the same lol

vivid vine
#

But they have not fucked up for me.. I could care less about the possibility

cursive summit
#

I always root for the underdog, but RDNA1 is ass

#

Performance is great

#

But stability, drivers? Not at all

ashen spindle
cursive summit
#

I hope someone would trade this RX 5700 for an RX 6700 dogekek

vivid vine
#

@ashen spindle I yes Ryzen for CPU side, I am not against AMD just against the GPU's from past experiences

cursive summit
#

Fair enough

#

But don't hold grudges for a prolonged time since hardware always improves

ashen spindle
#

yeah I'm saying it's the same though, you can expect something but based on rdna2 we can also already expect more on gpu side

#

doesnt really make sense to base it on an older generation instead of the current one

halcyon moss
#

/shrug my 5700xt works fine

vivid vine
#

I always do because when I upgrade its not just the price of the card, I am spending another $200-300 on a waterblock for said card

cursive summit
#

My RX 5700 sometimes works fine

#

Most of the time

#

Then it just crashes the drivers

#

Cause fuck you

vivid vine
#

@cursive summit lol see that is what scares me about them

cursive summit
#

That's just 5000 series

#

It's infamous for terrible stability

#

I hadn't heard about such things from RX 6000

#

Let alone the upcoming RX 7000 shouldn't have it

ashen spindle
#

ok but if we pretend its cpus, then you would be saying Zen2 is going to be really scary because bulldozer was bad, despite zen1 being out for 2 years

#

currently you are afraid next gen has issues because previous gen had issues despite current gen not having that

tropic nacelle
#

5700xt was bad at launch but significantly improved, i have a few friends who had issues at launched but no more.

That's not to say you won't experience issues but to be honest pre RNDA2 really can be seen as the pre Zen era of CPU.

AMD had no cash for GPU, Zen was the gamble so GPU budget was cut and finally that gamble paid off and they have been increasing budget significantly to fight on both fronts .

RDNA2 launch was solid (ignoring pricing haha)
RDNA3 will likely be better.

cursive summit
#

RDNA2 is a pretty great product

#

They made great strides on GPU design

#

And now they are doing overtime on drivers

#

And boy they are doing amazing work on drivers

#

+100% perf in some cases is insane with just a driver update

tropic nacelle
#

RDNA was finally a move away from GCN which was a lot of the reasons for issues, it was a huge change for AMD and on a shoestring budget.

It's impressive but honestly they should have delayed it and fixed all the launch issues but it's in the past can't fix that.

cursive summit
#

Remember, it wasn't truly RDNA

#

It was a weird half amalgamation of GCN and RDNA

#

RDNA2 is the one that was completely different

#

And RDNA1 was just shit at start

vivid vine
#

Here in the US, 6000 series cards were almost double the price of Nvidia, so it was not a move. Not sure how it was in other parts of the world

tropic nacelle
#

That was most of the issues, it had to have a lot of changes driver wise for it all.

It was essentially the Zen launch at that point

ashen spindle
#

maybe in your local store idk

vivid vine
#

@ashen spindle Yea Microcenter the cheaptest eletronic store in the US

cursive summit
ashen spindle
#

show me an example

vivid vine
#

@ashen spindle Best Buy had none in stock, Amazon was all scalpers, Microcenter was the only place outside of buying a bor you could get one

ashen spindle
#

you could also buy them from amd directly

tropic nacelle
cursive summit
#

Interesting, Microcenter has 3090Tis for 1099$

#

Must be those stock clearances dogekek

vivid vine
#

Yea now @cursive summit I am talking about during lockdown

cursive summit
#

Yeah during lockdown AMD suffered

vivid vine
#

When the cards launched and the time after, not now

cursive summit
#

But now they're cheaper

ashen spindle
#

yeah obviously, but miners payed even more for nvidia cards so them being cheaper makes no sense

#

it wasn't like that in any part of the world

cursive summit
#

Fam wtf are these prices, 999 for 6950XT

tropic nacelle
#

Brand loyalty is stupid for corps of this scale, I will pick AMD if they are on par but if it's below I will go NVIDIA.

AMD provides more for the consumer as a whole over the years due to it being the underdog it HAD to be nice in the market with open source tools and features.

If AMD gets full dominance like Nvidia had then it would also do the same as Nvidia did.

ashen spindle
cursive summit
#

I got cockteased

cursive summit
#

Unless you are a company

ashen spindle
#

idk same price elsewhere

cursive summit
#

Lol what

#

Since when

#

These were 1200 just yesterday

vivid vine
#

That is just too much for my taste

#

After tax and a block would be like $1500 pepecry

cursive summit
#

It smacks your 3090 just saying

#

That is with taxes

vivid vine
#

I have a 2070.. I buy gaming cards

cursive summit
#

Unlike in U.S typically every European retailer has to list a price with taxes

#

So the price you see is what you pay without the delivery, obviously

#

That's why I get cockteased by amazon.com and their tiny prices

#

They aren't tiny, just pre-tax

ashen spindle
#

that doesnt change that for him after taxes it still would be 1500...

cursive summit
#

980$ is a pretty fair price

#

1500$? Yeah no

#

OH

ashen spindle
cursive summit
#

RTX 3070 is finally normal priced

vivid vine
#

@cursive summit but I am a watercooler I am not sticking a fanned up card in my pc

cursive summit
#

Oh no false alert

vivid vine
#

Only reason I stated $1500

cursive summit
#

Some mongol put 3060Ti as 3070Ti

vivid vine
#

Dude trying to pull a slick one on a dumb person

tropic nacelle
#

Just buy a reference AMD board and pay less overall.

AMD seems way simpler to buy a waterblock for assuming it's a reference board.

cursive summit
#

Don't buy anything

#

Not right now dogekek

stark bobcat
ashen spindle
#

gl getting a refernce card at a better price xD

cursive summit
#

I don't have friends from germany

#

Uhh

stark bobcat
cursive summit
#

Pretty sure this one's reference

tropic nacelle
#

I mean yeah it's silly to buy now if you held off so long you may as well wait a month or two to get Nvidia or AMD as both are going to be big jumps FOR RRP If you pre-order fast

stark bobcat
#

I mean europe is having a cost of living crisis and massive infaltion

#

it depends

cursive summit
#

Yes we are

#

And we're fucked

#

For now at least

vivid vine
#

I am chilling on my 2070, I want a CPU upgrade if anything. Games like Hell Let Loose and Squad suffer on my 2700x

tropic nacelle
#

Also best rule is to never buy the flagship, buy the second tier card (assuming your budget is fine) as you just lose SO much money for very little change.

vivid vine
#

^^^

stark bobcat
#

rn flagship cards are very well priced it seems

cursive summit
#

How're Finland's gas and electricity prices doing?

ashen spindle
tropic nacelle
ashen spindle
stark bobcat
#

on mydealz I have seen it for 900

ashen spindle
#

amds store just hasnt changed prices since release despite pricecuts for AiBs

tropic nacelle
#

Ah I missed the other screenshot haha.

I'd still say it's pretty poor value for money, better than launch but €900 will get you a better card from NVIDIA or AMD when they launch their cards shortly.
