its so oversaturated

#

Apple always oversaturates

shrewd thicket
#

idk what this guy did in post

cursive summit
#

People think that's why apple is good

shrewd thicket
#

thats not the apple look

pale sigil
stark bobcat
#

I can understand why sadly they are too big for my liking

shrewd thicket
#

oversaturate

#

AHHAAHA

stark bobcat
#

woulda snapped one up in a heartbeat if they were smaller

shrewd thicket
#

Apple always has a very natural tone

cursive summit
#

I don't even own a single samsung device

pale sigil
#

The Samsung S8 Ultra is great but needs to be cheaper imo

shadow minnow
cursive summit
#

If I wanted to go for good photos I'd buy Pixel or Sony

shrewd thicket
#

sometimes it goes too natural

shadow minnow
#

Especially in like forests

#

It goes to brownish

#

Which well forests are brown

#

But sunlight in it tends to be not as much as iphone thinks

shrewd thicket
pale sigil
#

I wouldn't be so aggressive about IPads if it was still their A chips and not M1

stark bobcat
#

once the next gen releases

pale sigil
#

Snapdraggon need to catch up with arm big time.

cursive summit
pale sigil
#

and tbh Samsung can fuck off with their other chip shit

cursive summit
#

So no, I don't

shrewd thicket
pale sigil
#

The only device ill ever suggest from Apple is IPads.

#

They dominate for a reason even with the shitty price tags.

shrewd thicket
#

i hate how they use SD in usa and exynos everywhere else

cursive summit
#

Yeah I don't really care even they are good, it's Apple

#

Fuck. Apple

pale sigil
stark bobcat
#

why exynos so shit tho

shrewd thicket
pale sigil
#

Fuck apple indeed but im not going to let that change value for money when it comes to IPads lul

cursive summit
pale sigil
#

im not saying its bad

cursive summit
pale sigil
#

im saying the value isn't there.

#

i was considering them

shrewd thicket
pale sigil
#

but its stupidly priced

shrewd thicket
#

no they should be improved

stark bobcat
#

have you used one recently

shrewd thicket
#

android has great potential, i mean android literally has a desktop mode built in these days but its basically unused

#

there is literally native dex but no one has used it like wtf

pale sigil
#

I love android but i also hate it.

#

Its so messy at times and as said isn't remotely designed for tablets

shrewd thicket
#

it used to be good

#

my nvidia shield k1 was the shit back then

pale sigil
#

tbh i used to be one of those people who cried but its IPS Retna.

#

But it makes a difference what they do.

#

Especially HDR

#

When i compared a Samsung tab next to an IPad pro a few weeks ago i kidna felt a little shame xD

#

Mainly because i used to scream about the screens being old and poo vs budget stuff.

shrewd thicket
#

retina is crazy when you get used to it

pale sigil
#

Don't get me wrong, i wish they moved onto new tech though.

shrewd thicket
#

makes me crave high ppi monitors but no good ones exist

#

not for gaming anyway

pale sigil
#

IPad pro uses mini led

shrewd thicket
#

4k@240 and 4k ultrawides can't come sooner

stark bobcat
#

me when almost blind and cant spot the difference

#

lol

shrewd thicket
#

miniled ipads look good

#

and oled ipads are rumored to be on their way

stark bobcat
#

one thing I find kinda funny tho as I get older I crave new tech less and less at this point I ll just wait for refurb m1 Ipads to be affordable and buy one of those

pale sigil
#

I dont like refurbs

#

or second hand, never had a good experience.

#

:/

shrewd thicket
#

i'd rather get second hand than refurbished

stark bobcat
#

hmmm I've not been burned yet tbh

shrewd thicket
#

i've always had good experience with second hand actually

stark bobcat
#

but it might happen

shrewd thicket
#

but i think the type of second hand market we have in the netherlands is actually really good

stark bobcat
#

german second hand market is kinda ass people ask wayyy too much for what they have

#

so prices shift upwards

#

I've had 1 good deal tho 2nd hand wacom cth-680 for like 20€

wheat plume
#

see what I mean

#

it doesnt look like an OLED screen

#

there is backlighting right??

#

yeah... its not as dark as the bezels

pale sigil
#

all i see is reflections

wheat plume
#

well yeah

pale sigil
#

and is the memu even amoled black

wheat plume
#

yeah, the android system settings is AMOLED Black

pale sigil
#

also it wont be as dark as the bezel

wheat plume
#

Unless Material You tints it slightly?

pale sigil
#

different blacks exist and lighting conditions matter and brightness

wheat plume
#

my phone screens gets as black as the bezels on full brightness

#

on all brightness

pale sigil
#

also in general all amoled screens are different

#

idk, but like when im using discord black theme it almost matches up with the bezel but if i put my light on the bezel bounces light

wheat plume
#

discord amoled also makes the screen black as the bezels

pale sigil
#

what phone is this

wheat plume
#

Mi Note 10 Lite

pale sigil
#

that explains it

wheat plume
#

?

#

what

#

this phone is half the price of the Pixel 6A

#

so the screen cant be as good, youd assume

pale sigil
#

I mean pixel has more dpi

#

higher nits

wheat plume
#

I use my phone mostly under half brightness xd

pale sigil
#

the note 10 is 430 nits and 398 dpi

#

dpi still effects how it looks

#

i mean nits

wheat plume
#

hmm

pale sigil
#

why does the pixel only use gorilla glass 3

wheat plume
#

I think it might be the Material You tinting the window

#

Cause the accent color is sage green

#

and this is greenish tint

#

ok.... its got to be the theming

#

in the other screenshot, its a blueish accent color and yeah..

pale sigil
#

Whatever glass Apple use on the IPad is so good.

#

Prob gorrila glass undisclosed lul

#

not had a screen protector on any of my IPads

#

none and ive dropped them against anything you can think, metal, brick etc

wheat plume
#

The iPad glass has to deal with pens and shit

pale sigil
#

one scratch in 7 years and you can not see it

im on about none pencell ones :p

It looks like NVIDIA won’t be going the AMD way anytime soon. Team Red is widely credited for being the first consumer chipmaker to adopt a modular design, a significant shift from the monolithic approach both its competitors are still leveraging. The RDNA 3-based Radeon RX 7000 GPUs are said to be based on a …

#

@ashen spindle thoughts?

#

A bit of a weird move from Nvidia to go monolithic for 2 more generations

#

If let alone this gen is going to bring massive power succ increase, I can't even begin to imagine how much more massive the power draw will be for Ada-next to be competitive against AMD using 2 GCDs or more

ashen spindle
#

meh for consumers its not as relevant as for enterprise

cursive summit
#

I think for consumers it should be relevant

#

Nvidia if they won't be able to leverage high enough perf increase from moving to a better node, probably 3nm, they will most likely suck even more power again

crimson wigeon
#

THE SUCC
doesn't matter, gotta have that RTX

ashen spindle
#

you can just take your design make it chiplet and suddenly its better

cursive summit
#

Like AMD should probably be miles ahead in performance and power efficiency by the time Nvidia reaches 6000 series

crimson wigeon
#

Yeah just slice it into chiplets pepeg

astral haven
#

It's still monolithic

cursive summit
#

That's not what I said

#

I meant Navi 4

#

I am well aware AMD is moving to chiplets but only single GCD

pale sigil
#

I kinda wanna go AMD for next gen.

#

Purely for Linux

cursive summit
#

However chances are next-next gen AMD will have multiple graphical dies, whereas Nvidia is reportedly stuck with monolithic, again

#

It'll be hard for them to compete I imagine

#

Weird, AMD kicked Intel's ass in CPUs, and now they are kicking Nvidia

#

What a time to be alive

#

But Intel recovered, hope Nvidia does too, competition is wonderful

astral haven
#

Also anything chiplet can be made faster monolithic

cursive summit
#

Faster isn't power efficient though, is it

astral haven
#

Dual gcd is just a demonstration that AMD wishes to cede the high end to Nvidia and Target price

astral haven
cursive summit
#

I am really scared RTX 5070 will be sucking like 500W whereas 5090 is like 900W just to compete in power

cursive summit
#

Anything I can read up on regarding that?

astral haven
#

You need two serdes whenever you're going chiplet to chiplet

cursive summit
#

Serdes?

astral haven
#

Like how could you possibly gain any sort of efficiency advantage by increasing the distance between compute parts?

astral haven
ashen spindle
#

nvidia had patents for mcm in 2004, if that would just be the solution it would've been done earlier

#

even for cpus amd said chiplets worked great for them but not the best for all situations

#

because its not the best for everything

astral haven
#

Yea
The mcm GPU war will be fought above 500w that's for sure

ashen spindle
#

do I want to see cool tech because wow fancy? yea absolutely

#

but I rather just see the best product possible

astral haven
#

My room is hot
The mcm gpus will not help with that :(

ashen spindle
#

put your gpu next to water tank, heat it up and power an ac that way

#

ez infinite energy

astral haven
#

I don't have enough room for a big enough water tank

ashen spindle
#

put gpu outside the window and wall mount it

astral haven
#

If I open the window, my room will be even more hot

ashen spindle
#

drill hole through the wall for the AC and put the cables into there as well dogekek

astral haven
#

Hmm do I really need my deposit?
Yes
Yes I do

ashen spindle
#

and back to chiplets: could also be like amd now that the lower tiers are monolithic and thats all they had leaked so far

astral haven
#

What

#

Higher number is lower tier

#

31 is chiplet, 32 is chiplet 33 is monolith

ashen spindle
#

yes I mean lower tier as in performance lower not numerical family

astral haven
#

Oh I misred you right

ashen spindle
#

so 5060/70 might be monolithic and 5080+ could be chiplet

#

or they do that for quadros or server stuff first only

astral haven
#

I really hope that 90 tier only becomes chiplet just like before

#

Make 3090 and 4090 the exception

ashen spindle
#

they need a new name

#

3090 ti exists now as a normal gpu

#

titan is a mess

#

quadro is dead

astral haven
#

There's a titan still?

#

I thought titan died with Quadro?

ashen spindle
#

well quadro is official dead, titan just wasnt used for ampere

astral haven
#

Suspect they are just keeping their options open

ashen spindle
#

wonder if evga are going to have to label their next KP edition as fire hazard havo

astral haven
#

Just like the back of every Quadro?
And the 480?

ashen spindle
#

nah due to the power connectors lmao

Fuck GitLab. Requires an account for basic functionality (searching literally anything), and is a fucking JS disaster.

#

To make it even fucking worse, you can't even use the old trick of searching it via site:XYZ.XYZ, since it's not fucking indexed.

#

Even if GitHub isn't FOSS, at least it fucking works without JS and doesn't require an account to search for issues or code. Like genuinely, I get "oh well FOSS is important11!!1" but jesus, sometimes this makes me wonder if it really is.

#

I'll still prefer FOSS over closed sourced stuff, but not if it's gonna be like this.

slow garnet
#

I'm talking about searching on an existing FOSS repository on gitlab.com. I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say here.

All of NVIDIA’s top-end GeForce RTX 30 series cards have dropped well below their MSRPs. The GeForce RTX 3090 has dropped from $1,499 to $1,299, 14% off its official MSRP. It features 10,496 FP32 cores paired with 24GB of GDDR6X memory via a 384-bit bus and a boost frequency of 1,755MHz. The RTX 3090 features …

pale sigil

The tracking, algorithm, some Netflix content and downloads are nice though

#

I also love the auto download feature based on the algorithm

#

All praise the algorithm

It knows me to well pepesweat

shadow minnow
#

Can’t relate

#

Same with Spotify or Apple Music I can almost never find something good

#

Maybe I am the problem havo

#

I mean sometimes it recommends a good series but it’s like once in half a year

chrome estuary
#

apple music was definitely garbage for it.
at least i had no luck with it.

reef patrol
#

Yeah... no kidding. The weekly discovery just throws more of what you listen to most at you. No variation or attempts to push you out of a comfort zone. I'm always forced to sit down and use the "song radio" feature on things I don't listen to often to get any actual new things.

chrome estuary
#

ngl, the best luck i've had for discovering music that's roughly what i like is SiriusXM

#

however the few stations i listen to like to repeat for a few weeks or longer of course like normal radio does

shadow minnow
#

I just haven’t had good luck with no matter what

#

Though acoustic chill Apple Music playlist is pretty good

chrome estuary
#

yeah fair

cursive summit

YTMusic has amazing discovery playlist

A lot of genres

And a lot of collection within those

Like it takes into account your most listened genres

#

And a lot of categories within them

It's really really good

fair gull

almost like collecting peoples data has good and bad sides

cursive summit

I don't recall though when I listened to romance or sleep music

fair gull
#

no i mean as in

so they can recommend stuff u dont know

and if u just listen to a song it autogenerates a list of stuff u will prob like

shadow minnow
#

Taking photos with this lens is getting too easy

#

Almost boring

final flame
#

I mean if you want a challenge try doing stuff on film

#

or phone cameras work too

shadow minnow
#

I mean full manual is just more fun

#

But this Lens has so fast autofocus I have no reason to do manual focus and there is just no limit, don’t have to even look to what I am taking a photo of

#

And also zoom range means not having to change lenses though it’s f4

vocal cipher
#

ok canon lens

#

I saw

shadow minnow
#

RF24-105 F4 L on EOS R5

vocal cipher
#

how heavy is it?

shadow minnow
#

It’s actually light

#

Compared to 70-200 especially

#

Like 600g

vocal cipher
#

I was thinking of tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 but the weight always made me not

#

it's almost 1.2 kg though

shadow minnow
#

Yeah the 28-70 f2 looks really nice to me but it’s 1.5kg

#

Which is just

#

A lot

#

But the autofocus of this lens is so fast

#

Compared to the non zoom rf ones

vocal cipher
#

but for zoom lenses I guess f4 is more than enough as you would probably be outside

shadow minnow
#

Eh I mean I wish it was less just less is too heavy

vocal cipher
#

yeah f4 to f2.8 makes too much difference in weight

shadow minnow
#

And especially to f2

#

Though that would be less range too

#

Still almost 3 times the weight

#

I wish all lenses were this fast, almost as phone focus

vocal cipher
#

but I am sure having zoom lens instead of prime makes you take much more photos

#

that's probably more important

#

There were so many photos I didn't try with another lens, or I didn't take at all because I only had prime lenses with me

#

so having f4 is better than f1.8 or f1.4 🙂

#

if you are lazy as me

vocal cipher
#

or felt the need to have a faster focus

#

and people praise canon focus the same or even better

shadow minnow
#

I mean almost the same but fast moving animals on 70-200 were pain today

vocal cipher
#

never used canon

shadow minnow
#

I kinda like full manual with manual focus too

vocal cipher
#

I only had that problem with sigma 150-400mm

#

but it's thirdparty lens

#

do you do bird photography?

shadow minnow
#

I mean honestly I didn’t use to do photography as much before, just my father does it as a job as well so has lot of lenses I can soemtiems try, but rn as I am back in Slovakia after months in uk I am trying it a bit more. I want to try bird photography next week since know one place with lot of birds of prey, falcons eagles and such, but so far mostly just did buildings and general landscapes

#

For which my most used lens was 35mm 1.8 usually

#

But aparently cannon should release 35mm 1.2 this year but the price probably won’t be nice

vocal cipher
#

1.2 would be a leg and an arm on rf line

#

at least it's something for life though, more reasonable to invest in glass than most of the other electronics 🙂

shadow minnow
vocal cipher
#

probably 🙂

shadow minnow
#

That one is like 3000 $

#

I wonder if the focus is also as fast

#

The ones that didn’t have variable zoom were slow

#

Or well slower

vocal cipher
#

the focus problem would be the weight of the glasses in that thing

#

I never used it but only can speculate

#

it's massive

#

they would need much stronger focus motor for it

shadow minnow
#

Well there probably will be a strong one but how strong

#

I would imagine the one 24-105 has is rather strong

vocal cipher
#

That's the thing, I don't think they would have a different motor for just one lens

#

that would cost so much more in production

shadow minnow
vocal cipher
#

it has their strongest motor probably but is it enough for f2

#

all I wanna say is it might not be as fast as the fast focus canon lenses

shadow minnow
vocal cipher
#

oh, about focus motors, I am in love magnetic focus of sony

#

the lenses make sound when not used, feels like you can break it as the elements move when shaked

shadow minnow
#

I love the focus of this lens compared to any other I tried, it’s like magic, can’t feel anything moving

vocal cipher
#

but when it's on a camera, the focus is soooooooo smooth

#

you should try 35mm f.18 sony

#

buttery

shadow minnow
#

Well I don’t have any Sony camera

#

But the 35mm 1.8 cannon lens kinda sucks in terms of focus

#

It’s great

#

But only has a small motor

#

So focus is slow

#

Or well not as fast as this one

vocal cipher
#

is it the rf one or dslr one?

shadow minnow
#

Rf

vocal cipher
#

oh, I thought Rf would have been fast

shadow minnow
#

Well the more expensive ones are fast

#

But this is one of the lower line

#

So no water resistance

#

And only small motor

#

While the better ones have motor around the entire lens and some eating of water and dust resistance

vocal cipher
#

it's an expensive hobby, but we are used to that I guess...

shadow minnow
#

Well when you also use the cameras for work it kinda makes it more convenient dogekek

vocal cipher
#

I wish I did

#

I have so many interests, but none for the subject of my work

#

Banking - Finance

#

I hate banks

#

😄

#

at least keyboards are useful so... silver lining

shadow minnow
#

I mean I don’t use this camera for work but I also didn’t pay for it since it’s not mine but well it’s owner does dogekek
Atm just trying the 70-200mm f2.8
It’s 1.5kg but nice for animals

cursive summit
#

work

#

shadow minnow

No I am not 15 nor younger

#

And as I have mentioned before

#

It’s not mine

#

But my father’s dogekek

#

Who uses it for work

#

Not that I have never “worked” with one similar camera when more people were needed to take photos during one event.
But that was like twice and mostly videos/livestreams

cursive summit
#

This is a weird sentence then lul

shadow minnow
#

Yes I have said I don’t use it for work but my father who owns it does

my father was a teacher so no fun for me 🙂

#

Though f1.8

astral haven
#

Well
It's not for my a74 I'll give you that hinr

shadow minnow
#

Oh so for some camera with a smaller sensor?

astral haven
#

Yep

shadow minnow
#

Makes sense then

astral haven
#

Still has 12.6 stops of Dr and 80 megapixels but is pretty insano specwise

shadow minnow
#

But probably not the best for low light dogekek

#

I kinda wish this camera was even better ngl

#

It’s not bad

astral haven
#

12.6 stops of dynamic range lol

shadow minnow
shadow minnow
astral haven
#

That's actually probably better than your camera

#

And more importantly it can take 1 second exposures handheld without blur

shadow minnow
#

Mine is 11.7

astral haven
#

Sure this camera can't hit a million iso
But it has 8? 9? Stops of ibis

#

Small sensor can move around muuuuch more precisely and stabilizes alot better

shadow minnow
#

Pixel size though I would expect to be smaller but apart from that it’s probably better in some of this stuff. But ngl o never heard of steps of dynamic range before

astral haven
#

Dynamic range stops is the measure of quality of the camera

shadow minnow
astral haven
shadow minnow
#

Hmm sounds good

astral haven
#

And photographic dynamic range is the most important spec on an image sensor lmao

#

Here's an 8 second exposure (f22 so ignore the diffraction blur)
You can see a microscopic amount of motion blur but that's 8 seconds handheld at 80mm

shadow minnow
#

Oh hmm yeah it is important, I mean it’s not much worse on r5 but I did have cases of having to take HDR photos

#

Or well

#

3 photos to get auto merged

#

Mostly wish sky in background

#

Cannon EOS r is better at it aparently

#

Cannon EOS R aparently has 14.1 steps

#

Yet it’s way cheaper than R5

#

Half of the price basically

astral haven
#

And you have to use the same measurement rig and same noise floor for your measurements

shadow minnow
#

Why is EOS R so (relatively) cheap when it has so many steps?

astral haven
astral haven
shadow minnow
shadow minnow
#

Especially since it’s not on the list you linked above R5

astral haven
#

The eos r is between 10 and 11 where the r3 is between 11 and 12 with my a74

shadow minnow
#

Hmm iPhone 12 Pro Max aparently has 14 from what Google says

astral haven
#

Lies

shadow minnow
#

I believe it

#

Like I had cases where it seems to have better dynamic range than R5

astral haven
#

No

shadow minnow
#

And R5 is pretty high up with steps

astral haven
#

Photographic dynamic range excludes hdr

#

With hdr you get to add your exposure bracketing to your photographic dr

shadow minnow
#

Idk if the phone uses exposure bracketing tbh in the claimed 14 stops or not

astral haven
#

My camera does 4 stops of hdr in camera for example for a total of 16 stops of Dr
That's tied with the arri Alexa and Sony venice

astral haven
#

Currently sensors are electrically limited
The iphone has a 12 bit backplane which is physically incapable of more than 12 stops
Generally capable of 10 max for a 12 bit backplane but the iPhone is more like 9 probably

#

Our cameras are all 14 bit backplanes

#

If you want more bits you need a phase one or hasslelblad

#

The phase one is off the chart lmao

#

And at the bottom there is the xs max

shadow minnow
#

Well yes

#

But I wonder about the newer phones too

astral haven
#

The sensors are pretty much the same

shadow minnow
#

Not really there have been some actual improvements and ability to shoot in more bits

#

Especially for low light it’s way better than before

#

And the pixel size got bigger in general

#

More element lenses

astral haven
#

Nope

#

Low light capability is all software imporvements

shadow minnow
#

I am sure I have heard 12 pro max had a bigger sensor than previous gen

astral haven
#

Improved stabilization, denoising

#

None of that is counted into photographic dynamic range

shadow minnow
#

1.9um pixels on 13 pro max
1.4 on xs

astral haven
#

5 on the a74

#

And my other camera has a pixel pitch of 3 microns

astral haven
#

Tho it is 12 stops without hdr

shadow minnow
#

4.39 on R5

#

6.58 on R6

astral haven
#

The long story short is with current technology, medium format can do 16 stops of Dr
35mm can do 13
4/3 can do 11
And 1 inch can do 10

#

Anything outside of that rule is using processed images and thus is not going to be accurately categorized by this test

shadow minnow
#

Hmm R5 seems to be 35 makes sense

astral haven
#

Check the charts
There are a few phones in there including the masters of dynamic range, the old pixels

#

This time without the useless parts of the page

And Valve might do a stream or sorts, which they haven't done before

Another benchmark of Intel’s upcoming 13th Gen Raptor Lake processors has surfaced in the form of a Geekbench 5 result. I should be more specific

I want to get a 5800x but also I'm s little excited for the new Ryzen chips, if it's only 15% it can bugger off tho

junior ore

aye thats not much a big deal

cursive summit

Why are their prices so much less than ours

#

Or is it cause they don't have local warehouses that import directly from factories so we have to get it from U.S first

ashen spindle

what why would you think they are taxless

I'm saying that price is simply not having tax added to it

because taxes differ from state to state

Yep
You pay tax on checkout

cursive summit

That's not how that works in Europe though

it pretty simple

i assume its based off wherever your billing address is

only got the btr3 when it's battery started dying not knowing if I could fix it

astral haven
#

Tru
But driving er2 ain't gonna happen

#

And er2 is bae

thick elk
#

Most I have used it for is a hd6xx

#

which is perfectly fine

astral haven
#

Ye

#

But the 6xx is efficient

#

the dongle can drive 6xx easy

shadow minnow
thick elk
#

that adapter does not do bluetooth

astral haven
#

Neither does the e1da

thick elk
#

that's what I used it for, iems tucked under my shirt.

Qudelix-5K thonk

#

I heard decent stuff about Qudelix over FiiO

astral haven
#

I heard it was rather unflat

thick elk
#

a bit too expensive for my tastes at least but it's eq support is a great thing to have

astral haven
#

Also more expensive than the btr3k and gets slapped by the 5

thick elk
#

I wouldn't say gets slapped, it depends on what you value

astral haven
#

Only advantage is smaller and built in clip

thick elk
#

software side being better as well.
And I would call those advantages pretty big unless you really need a louder output or something.

astral haven
#

Eh
Fiios app works fine on the btr5

#

Maybe if you like ess sound go 5k?

cursive summit
#

I wonder if I snatch an iFi Go Blue instead, that should be pretty good

astral haven
#

But I really don't like ess sound

cursive summit
#

Quality costs

astral haven
#

What you got that is that good that needs driving?

astral haven
#

No but like
$80 vs $200
You can get some real good iems for that price difference

cursive summit
#

I don't like IEMs

#

Headphones is my thing

#

I have really good, probably top end TWS'es and honestly, I'd rather headphone

astral haven
#

What headphones then?

#

Not that you can buy anything good for 120 but still

cursive summit
#

Currently 371s but I'm looking into replacements

#

Closed back only

astral haven
#

Iems

cursive summit
#

Nah

astral haven
#

You want better sound that's your option

cursive summit
#

I need something with good sound, soundstage, imaging and build quality

astral haven
#

The ndh20 is good but it's only microscopically better than er2xr with good seal

#

You won't get both soundstage and imaging closeback

#

The only soundstage you get is from the audio itself

astral haven
#

Lel
That's gonna cost way more if you want imaging

cursive summit
stark bobcat
#

Closed back ewww

cursive summit
#

I am already in love with my heads

#

K702s are seriously, top notch shit

#

I was listening to Tame Impala yesterday and the shit I heard was making my head spin

stark bobcat
#

I use sundaras and they ok

cursive summit
#

Just my closed backs for when I need to not invade someone's privacy are breaking

astral haven
#

The ndh20 are very solid

#

And they run well on the btr5

stark bobcat
#

I honestly prefer iems for when I am in public over ears simply are too chonky

astral haven
#

And really for the price you get better sound

#

It costs a lot to get tips, but less than it does to get good cans...

cursive summit
#

I have a few bias, comfort and medical concerns for why I can't get IEMs

#

I used to run nothing but IEMs for a few years, they always broke on me within 2 months

stark bobcat
#

Honestly idk any closed backs that I really like

astral haven
#

About $150 to get all the tips and the iem, then try them until you find something you like

stark bobcat
#

The only way I have ever broken any iems was using them while cross country skiing

#

Getting snow on them

astral haven
#

Dekoni is what I ended up with for my baby ears but the westone work better with larger ears

cursive summit
#

For 150$ I would probably just rebuy K371s or just try out DT770s

stark bobcat
#

DT770 are meh

#

Have them only use them very rarely now

astral haven
cursive summit
#

Trust me lad, I can't wear IEMs

#

I already have my TWSs that I suffer with

astral haven
#

The ndh20 is super good
That 10% better quality is definetly noticeable
Much better sound separation than the er2xr
Soundstage is still closed and the imaging is basically the same

#

If you can't go iems and you can stand the worst cable to grace mankind, then it's not a bad option

cursive summit
#

I find that surprising cause I saw some reviews saying the cable was not bad

#

Also it looks pretty aesthetically pleasing

#

It cannot be worse than HiFiMan cables

astral haven
#

It is the jankiest noisiest cable I've ever had

#

The coiled cable is fine but still noisy

cursive summit
#

Are you one of those types of people that proclaim silver superiority and only buy premium cables?
