For something like KCD you might need someone who studied history or the language, so they can more easily find appropriate translations for odd terms.

I'll say having some definitely helps.

The game needs help with a lot of things to be its best showing. Doesn't have to be game changing stuff. I remember adding some mods to make weather more impressive, dark is dark (meaning torches and other light sources matter more for you and everyone else)

UI tweaks, deeper gameplay for certain aspects.

I'm only doing non-EE since it's my first time. Trying BG1EE yesterday after beating the original felt really fresh actually and made the game feel modern by comparison. Otherwise I wouldn't have that point of reference

Apparently BG2 has mind flayer enemies that are awful and kill you by sapping your int which is why I went for 11 intelligence since they do -5 int each time. So I was at least preparing for BG2

I still think that the original American PS1 releases are the best experience since they are harder. These PC versions are much easier. More ammo, enemies have less health, and in RE1 Jill doesn't have to use ink ribbons. The American one is a more solid survival horror experience imo

The PS1 versions of RE1 differ in difficulty. The Japanese one is easier and the American one is harder. And the PC GOG/Steam releases are like the Japanese one. This information is easy to find when you look up regional differences RE1

RE2 also has differences like this for difficulty but I don't remember if 3 does

The dualshock US edition might seem the best since it also has arrange mode while keeping the original American difficulty BUT it has that famously awful soundtrack so wouldn't recommend it

@orchid prism not really relevant to you since you only play EE but I found out that what made BG2 crash a bunch wasn't actually being fullscreen but instead it was the 3D acceleration setting

Now I can open the game, quicksave and quickload without a 50% chance of crashing
