I will say - What little gameplay there actually is - Looks fun. It's just a shame it's incredibly incomplete and shallow. You basically need to want to play Tarkov with spaceships.

But it just isn't what they promised...years ago. That would be ready...years ago.

It's vaporware.

It's a bit like EVE's many, many attempts to branch out and do new things. But the basegame is still there when projects fail. That isn't really the case with Star Citizen. The core is still in shambles 😄

You'll be spending weeks, months just doing basic grinding shit. And then something cool might happen for a day or two.

I remember one of my corpmates from Romania. He played on laptop and multiboxed a whole small mining fleet by himself. He'd play on his laptop with those clip on monitors on either side.

Just a bunch of small windows, so he could task the mining ships with moving around, while his combat ships were on the main screen.

It made WoW "as a job" feel like a vacation in comparison 😄

And you can so, so easily lose a month's worth of grinding to a bad encounter with another player or NPC. Cause there are almost no safeguards.

Skins is definitely one of Vintage Story's weak points. No fem/masc options, and their "seraph" lore, forces some odd looking skin colour options.

But mods do help here somewhat I guess. One server I know has a full on D&D esque race selection system. Orc, Elf, Kobold and so on.

Unironically me in my VS Arctic survival challenge game.

One of those where restarting 10-20 times before you have just enough to survive and progress is to be expected. 😄

VS currently only punishes cold, not heat. So you're basically stuck being an inuit on the ice flows, hunting bears and foxes, travelling south to find taigas that have just enough pine trees and cattails to get you started. You will eventually have to move south to do agriculture and such.

I'd definitely recommend primitive survival. It adds a bunch of early game QoL that just makes sense. Like fishing traps. Kind of depends how vanilla you want to go in terms of QoL mods.

Could also add things like the carts mod, so you can eventually craft a small hand dragged sled, to move stuff more easily. Or the mod that lets you carry a chest in your hands, or put it on your bag (to make moving things easier)

I don't mind dying because I can re-craft 90% of what I lost. sort of the only way to safely split it would be having a device that just does TOTP and literally nothing else. like no internet, phone, sms or anything. then you have the pw manager everywhere else and thus due to complete separation it would indeed be safer.

I will just not invest into splitting it that much especially with the added convenience. there is technique to make pw+totp in 1 vault safer by for example peppering passwords. this means you somehow mark accounts (or do it everywhere) where the password autofill is incomplete. it needs you to type in some extra text (the pepper) to be valid.

Boss AI was abysmal, you could defeat them by just jumping on a higher ground
Cars phasing through each other
Problems with models and guns being stuck to people's hands
Not to mention the same people models at the same time near each other
Straight up suicidal aggressive cops
Curb-surfing, railing-surfing, you could go under the ground through some holes in the road
Not to mention AI detecting you through the walls
And that's just what I remember

So yeah, 1.0 was not really fine

But they fixed a ton of it in 1.2

I completed it, didn't notice any of those issues (or them being fixed later) So... yeah. It was fine.

The story didn't change. And I had one - one case where I needed to load an autosave in the entire playthrough 😄

Enemies had levels, you had level up, get better weapons, all that fluff
Now levels give you new stuff to play with and weapons and enemies are adjusted to your level

Oh you leveled up and picked something that wasn't specifically for combat? Enjoy having enemies be tougher than before. Great power curve!

Yeah that's essentially half the update. Rebalancing the progression (and making the new area fit in about Level ...65-75 ish?) and adding a lot of small quality of life.

Horses also changed. You can build a stable (after beating a boss) that lets you upgrade their stats over time to the full maximum by handing them flowers.

You have to simmer the bird in like 70C water with just a few other mild flavorings like lemongrass, so that so meat will just cook very delicately, fat will melt out slowly and it will create an amazingly flavorful broth
Then take the bird, quarter and put under the broiler for max 10 minutes, so that so this gelatinous skin with melted fat will get all nice and crispy, you can cover it with a glaze made out of soy sauce, honey and chili
Then take 3 cups of broth and boil 2 cups of rice with it, and serve with light cucumber salad
