But once you drag yourself to the research required, you have unlimited power, iron and copper.

And then it starts taking off.

You do need to cheat a little to unlock nuclear tech early, or be stuck with really bad steam power production. But I personally don't really care, since I already need a mod to start on Vulcanis 😄

Mod. Vulcanis is one of the planets you go to as part of the expansion.

It's essentially a lava planet with giant worms.

But it has everything you need to go through progression, if you're stubborn enough at first.

Requires a lot of semi careful gathering and crafting, until you have endless metals flowing from the giant lava pools.

It makes the normal starting planet kind of weird to land on. You're essentially non-combat till that point, and suddenly land on a lush, green planet with all metals including your first taste of Uranium 😄

The planet is divided up into sections. Each one protected by one of these guys - They're essentially a DPS check. If you can't kill it, it regains HP.

And then keep an eye on your pollution overlay, and clear out any nests that are affected, so they stop attacking.

You can wall around the entire thing with two layers (there's a gate piece of railroads), put up machine gun turrets and add another train wagon that carries ammo, so it refills them every time it comes by.

Keep in mind that pollution is dynamic, based off of your production. So you may want to push those nearby camps out, so you're not suddenly surprised. 😄

And if you have the setting enabled where they can spread and make new camps, you'll want to wall everything. Cause they will creep up.

Learning the basics of signals is going to help a ton. And help you ramp up train usage drastically.

I learned this decades ago in Railroad Tycoon, but the basics are the same. Once you've mastered this, you can even go further and have dynamic train stations controlled by computers. So trains will dynamically go to a specific station and grab stuff, then deliver it, based off of what's piling up one place or is needed somewhere else.

So you no longer have a coal train. You have a fleet of identical trains, that get told to pick something up based on logic.

Arcade is... when song is actually mapped properly it's amazing, everything just clicks, it's so nice

Hot take but EGS deals were proving to be monkey's paw wishes long before they stopped giving out that kind of funding.

Xbox and/or Game Pass deals were largely bad but an EGS deal was probably the worst form of exclusivity. I suspect Apple Arcade is probably worse but I only recall Fantasian being exclusive for a while.

Any indie developer that took those deals absolutely knew what they were getting themselves into. Sure, the funding might've helped short term cash flow but it's a market where customer is king.
