The gameplay loop is fun, the battles are fun the story is enjoyable

People will give up everything just to feel safe
Nowadays parents won't let their kids go outside without a phone so they can have constant contact with them
Some go even further and install GPS apps on kids phones so they can monitor where they are in real time
So why bother to go through all that?
Just lock the kids inside a city, so they are always close

But while Fortnite is churning out new content constantly, Infinite's roadmap was way behind even on release
You can't just make the live service game, add little to no content to the game and expect it to be a Fortnite competitor

You need to commit while releasing a live service game
Sony almost did with Concord - everything was almost in place, just little to no marketing so little to no hype, and lack of public response testing, because come on, I don't think they had even one character designer on team 💀

Widowmaker's booba in Overwatch and Vindicta's feet in Deadlock are things that bring people in, no matter what you want to think about it
