Some people say it's good to pick Freedom's Flame, because flame weapons are hella useful in caves

its a bit tricky to recommend something that works for everyone, they all kinda have some great stuff and some filler depending on what you like and your playstyle

the gear I end up using the most comes from democratic detonation, chemical agents, polar patriots, urban legends, servants of freedom and viper commandos

demo detonation is kinda op compared to most of the others tbh, adjudicator is good ar, eruptor and crossbow super powerful, grenade pistol is great, thermite probably best grenade in the game, armors are great

chemical agents got gas grenades and drone, both very strong especially against melee heavy factions, servants of freedom got pocket fatboy, laser gun that slowly kills you as it does more damage and portable hellbomb

My only personal gripe with Hollow Knight is the challenge stuff. Like the boss rush DLC and stuff like the flower thing.

That was just too hard for me, and I didn't like how it unlocked "more" ending.

I think with this approach they follow the soulslike inspiration.

As in, on your 1st playthrough you are more likely to do an easy/fast ending, which is usually not the best lorewise because all the bad things will repeat in time.

But a more definitive ending is hidden behind some secrets, more actions and challenge.

It stops being a game, and becomes a job.
