I would just be concerned that the future use of Linux for gaming can then be compromised by using tech/APIs that Valve simply can't ship for licensing reasons. I remember installing Proton-GE to play Stranger of Paradise due to the proprietary codec used for the pre-rendered cutscenes. Adjacent to this, Rosetta 2 on macOS doesn't support AVX/AVX2/AVX512 instructions set due to licensing (thanks Intel).

Maybe I'm wroing here but Intel in particular were a little anal about it back in the day. Plus Rosetta 2 for any x86 app doesn't support AVX/AVX2/AVX512. The game porting toolkit might but that's also for porting games to macOS, not running old x86 apps that won't get ported.
