New city, better traffic control, a few tile mods to eliminate the "tax" since I don't need much more than like 1-2 extra tiles

I think the problem with my first two cities was that my taxes for commercial and industrial were like 15%+ and no companies wanted to settle there

Rn they are at 12% for all non-residential and 10% residential and it's been booming

We can definitely agree that the tile tax is not the best approach to "making CS harder"

And that's why I disable the tax by unlocking all tiles on game start now. Also lets me put small villages where I want to start off, not in the same exact tile every time.

It's all about balance. Everything has a steep investment cost, so you are usually better off importing/exporting till your demand can fill at least half of its capacity

Garbage takes a lot of upfront investment, since you need to do more than just store it. You need to burn it for power, or recycle it in various centers, which are not cheap to run.

It downloads the whole game... and then launcher downloads some random files to it
Sometimes it's 200MB, sometimes it's 10GB

Steam has some really cool local network functions and it's a huge pet peeve whenever a game has large downloads in an extra launcher
