As far as BG is concerned, it's mostly a shift in the focus of the story. The main driving power behind the past two games - the literal series it builds on is relegated to a small side story only truly accessible by picking a non-canon background,

BG3 is also incredibly linear, whereas you had a lot of freedom of movement in the first two games.

So it's like the game is rendering at 16:9 and squishing it into 4:3.

In settings I have it set to 1280 x 960 (4:3) but I really don't think the game is actually rendering at that.

I can def understanding games like Telltale's The Walking Dead only supporting a single aspect ratio since it very heavily relies on setting scenes up in certain ways and so it's easiest with only a single aspect ratio (I have never seen if it supports more than 16:9 so I might be wrong here). While on the other end mostly action games like Doom should be easily able to let you pick any aspect ratio you want within reason.

I have a tiny bit of experience with Roblox studio and there there are two ways of making UI elements. One is by fixed pixel amounts meaning that a certain element will always be 100 pixels wide and 40 tall or whatever you set it too (I never understood why someone would pick this one it just seemed restrictive for few good reasons) and the other one would dynamically adjust it to take up a specific amount of free space on the screen so that it would be the same size proportionally on any aspect ratio.

Obviously that is HIGHLY important for Roblox since people play it with so many different phones that often have different aspect ratios.

Oh and about the one where an element will always be x pixels tall and wide that is of course extrmely fucky when it comes to different resolutions. It makes it tiny on a 4k screen or if you make it on a 4k screen it might be huge on a 1080p screen.

This is of course how those old 'pixel' games like Fallout 1 and 2 works hence why when you increase the resolution everything just becomes more zoomed out and small.

And you can only zoom in on a 4x scale.

Been playing this lately. Pretty good game and you can play as a pretty girl on a fantasy adventure.
But it's still quite a basic metroidvenia style game.

Crimson Desert is going to be a singleplayer RPG from my understanding. At first I really did not care about it because it looked very mundane and boring. But the recent Gamescom gameplay reveals had massive improvements. The game looks very fun and actionpacked now. With destruction and physics which is something we rarely see these days.
My problem with CD is that it still looks way too close to real life. There is very little fantastical things present here other than giant enemy monsters.
