Morrowind and Oblivion are two core memories.

I bought Morrowind at a whim, and it got me into modding games hard. It came with a second CD which was all of the game files and a REALLY robust world editor.

Oblivion was the first game we had to buy a GPU to run - And it was my younger brother who got it not me. It was one of the last cards that were both released as both PCI-E and AGP (yes - that AGP), and it lasted all of one day.

I installed it and played Oblivion all night long, and when we turned the PC on the next morning, the card had shat the bed and gone into full rainbow ASCII mode on POST.

So I had to continue playing it using ... noblivion? or whatever it was called. Some super, super low end PC mod that turned Oblivion into a really shitty experience visually but it RAN. Never completed it till years later on 360. Never finished the expansion - so waiting for Skyblivion to see that one through.

Starfield has got to be one of the most dissapointint launches ever for me. Even worse than cyberpunk being a broken unplayable mess.

Cyberpunk underneath all the bugs, crashes and bloat was still a game made with heart, the developers really did care about what they were making. It simply suffered from leadership being unable to keep it directed in a steady course. This also meant Cyberpunk could be fixed after release.

Starfield on the other hand had no heart. At every moment it just felt like the writers, coders, modellers, engineers, and leadership was just phoning it all in. 1000 planets all the same empty wastelands bereft of content, a story that about exploration that didn't want to explore anything, a severely out of date engine from Morrowind that clearly needs to be replaced, renaming Skyrim's Dragonborn to 'Starborn'. You can't fix these issues, there's just a fundamental lack of care and ambition.

I was actually hoping Starfield would be a financial flop to force Microsoft to push Bethesda onto Unreal Engine

A huge part of the problem is that bethesda in general does not listen to feedback or criticism and think their shit don't stick. Skyrim being such a big hit has given them brain rot going forward.

Sadly that seems to be the case. Skyrim was good for its time, but each subsequent Bethesda game seems to have been walking backwards rather then forwards. Everyone else has completely leap frogged Bethesda's formula

Skyrim was a mixed bag, some upgrades, some downgrades, but overall a solid game imo.

Fallout 4 improved on the gun gameplay and I think settlement building is a neat idea but otherwise it's just such a flawed game. It's one of my favorite games and I play it a lot thanks to modding but as a vanilla experience it leaves a lot to be desired. Fallout 3 and NV are much more enjoyable vanilla.

However now, they somehow made a script that kicks people out of the game

And I wonder, the timing is peculiar, cause just a few days back there was an Easy Anti-Cheat fiasco about RCE exploiting

War Thunder is after all, running EAC as its anti-cheat

I don't suspect it's possible to write a script that kicks people out of the game without some kind of RCE
