Pawns are side-characters that players design and equip, you can then share them and if someone "hires" them, you get all of the experience from those other players' adventures
It's basically a leveling tactic, like a daycare center in pokemon

a lot of other consoles may "run" games but have to implement a lot of specific HLE for syscalls only that console has OR do a lot of low level reverse engineering due to specialized hardware. nintendo basically always used off the shelve mcus or later cpu/gpu combos with arm
