I think that overall consensus is still that of what was year ago - you have to swap to desktop mode to change something, you have to install custom Proton version, install Windows libraries in prefixes, running scripts - while it's already long gone... Heck, I didn't even felt like installing Proton-GE on my OLED, Experimental just gets the job done
But yeah, target audience doesn't want to play 95% games, they want ot play ALL the games, and especially new, e-sport titles, so anti-cheat comes into play...

If I am really into a game I'll grab it again in the evening. Stand-by just works.

If it were for me they should have doubled down on teamplay, help / promote smaller community tournament, finding fixed groups to play with and so forth. The casual competitive scene was a real differentiator.

For me there are different drawbacks depending on the platform.
For video, they kind of force you to one subset, they force you through their crappy clients / internet / drm requirements.
For Music same as above minus the drm.
For games GamePass it simply not being compatible is reason enough but in general my consumption of them is such that they offer poor value.
I do wish the availability of tv-shows outside of streaming was better and for music the pricing given a moderate music library I actively use, purchasing all is simply not viable.
For those mostly the high seas it is.

Whatever TV show is not available on Netflix without VPN I just download it, same with movies, I refuse to pay for anything more than Netflix (and Amazon Prime but only because it's €10/year)
For music I use Tidal, but for a lot of songs I have to sail, because they are not available, even if I wanted to buy them I simply can't (damn you Avex!)
For games only Steam and GOG, should GamePass work on Linux I guess I'd get 3 months or so
And I won't be trying to get around artificial roadblocks, when sea is open for sailing
