I mean compared to the netburst that came before almost anything would have been amazing
hi potato
man im thinking to buy a switch only for playing pokemon
....
and i heard scarlet wasnt that good

i wanna play on my handheld in a car
Same lol
and the streetlights flick the screen
Pokemon I've played every single one I think since I married my waifu and she gave me her 3DS to try out
meanwhile I've never played a pokemon game
Pssh fan translations of red and blue

Tbf romhacks can be incredibly good
I remember a really fun romhack lol, "offensive pokemon yellow" I think it was
The amount of cock jokes was great
It's honestly just wishful thinking, but I hope the clamshell doublescreen meta comes back
Obviously it'd just be too expensive nowadays
But double screen meta was great
Wouldn't a double screen actually be more useful nowadays than it was back with DS?
DS Ruby/Sapphire?
what's that
otherwise, yeah pretty interesting that they had a form of 'streetpass' in the form of IR communication in the B&W duology
I think I'm going too far when thinking Microsoft acquisition of Activision-Blizzard → revival of Guitar Hero → double-screen console for a new Guitar Hero: On Tour series
maybe those foldable phones might achieve something

its the alcohol
1000000%
take your backlit screen
back when companies tried to innovate for comfortable handhelds
look at the switch today
it ducking sucks
Ah, Game Boy Advance SP - or at least the later model
Also Game Boy Micro, though how useful a non-backwards-compatible console is now...
my wish will never come true
but no handheld comming back
thanks to these stupid tablets
nawh
I'll stick to my ips modded gameboy / gba-sp / original ds lite / new 3ds xl. If want something else I'll probably emulate on my vita or steam deck.
I never really got into castelvania games myself.
maybe I will try them at some point, any recommendations?
It's surprising in general how handholdy modern games are
Old titles are so much harder than new ones
Old titles were content with a smaller core audience in general. And in the space of less mainstream games there are still harder titles.
Also people simply bought less games as injusted for inflation they were expensive.
Not if you run a sweatshop in beijing somewhere
This is also why AAA focussed on recurring revenue as making enough on a single launch is very hard.
Still glad we are seeing a number of mid-sized studio's again that can make more than a basic indie game.
If you run a sweatshop in Beijing you are not getting a good product. it requires a team that actively tries on all front. Not someone who does what is asked of him.
Well, we'll see how Black Myth Wukong plays out to see if your sentence makes sense
Just because it's made in china does not mean it's sweat shop with little creative input.
It was 600 million iirc
They posted a thing online when they got their investment back
Cyberpunk made far more than 1 billion anyways so they doubled their investment at least
Konami is not dead?
i just want a game like boktai
Konami is somehow doing incredibly well lol
Hypu for the new MGS remake and especially SH2 remake
based af
I wouldn't call sotn hard just up till the end, but maybe my muscle memory of that game is too extensive
first thing to get is the basilard 😄
We got teardown now
Hello everyone! I need to take a moment to clarify some of the recent (and ongoing) actions being taken here on the Steam discussion boards. Steam has long been a space where we’ve allowed people to create the space they want to talk and discuss the game. Unfortunately, over time, discussions have grown increasingly off-topic (i.e.
Oh this didn't go down well
I've been seeing a lot of shit smearing on Creative Assembly, tf did they do
■Overview
PC games have always been subject to cheating and piracy. Malicious cheating and piracy can reduce the value of the product and lead to a loss of profit.
This presentation will explain the past background and current efforts to combat cheating and piracy.
This is the history of how the security module in RE ENGINE was created.
■Prer...
Capcom investing into in-house solutions than Denuvo?
Interesting
Absolute braindead takes though
Cheats and mods in.. single player games are a problem?
Of course they affect the product, they affect it positively
Despite all I did enjoy the warhammer games, the way it plays with magical units kind of hides the underlying flaws of their tech.
Besides devide et empire really did turn rome 2 into an enjable game.
Rome Remastered offers a nice platform for mods and such, but was made by Feral and not CA
But yea CA is not doing great.
Wait I'm dumb
Gave Skylines 2 a proper go. Really not a fan of how things unlock now.
It takes such a hilarious amount of points to be able to set up new areas with interchanges.
And all special buildings are MASSIVE.
I own the first game, still never played it, maybe I should give it a try sometime, but I first really need to finish or shelve what I already started.
Since CS2 released, we've seen some players sharing clips of encounters where hits aren't registering as expected. What do you make of clips like these from players? Are CS2's sub-tick servers working as intended?
Well, to be clear, those examples aren't issues with sub-tick servers. They show a different bug (an animation-hitbox mismatch when looking down), but the important thing is that those clips helped us isolate the specific bug and ship the fix to customers quickly. Bugs like that are unfortunate but detailed community feedback is incredibly helpful.
Is that all the article has on the topic?
Anyone got a good game for a few day binge?
GTA IV
Played it through...
Sleeping Dogs
Terraria ultramodded
Tons of good mods for unlimited hours of fun, or just bossrush and it'll be a few day binge
im so happy
I had a steam deck laying around
installed emu deck
and now im playing pokemon

Yo aw2 is fucking great
Much more horroresque than Control?
AW is much more horror than Control.
Control is much more X-Files within the same universe.
LOL
Control was much more... if you stopped to think about things... much like most things in the SCP universe.
not a big fan of horror, for horror's sake. Enjoy screwed up worlds though.
RE moment
it's more about that really
and by that I mean the latter
2 1/2 unlike 2 + 2i 😉
very meta indeed
aint she beautiful
I really like that Mind Space thing
Actually feels like being kinda a detective lol
the thing is...the integrated graphics out of AMD's more recent CPUs really can run anything at 1080p
probably with low settings and getting 30 FPS
but hey, the little champ that could
pretty sure the 7000 series has 2 graphics cores, instead of the possible 8, so it's more display adaptor than anything else
was originally going to get that chip for the next build
xD
then decided that it would be a pretty meaningless upgrade from a 3600 since it's on a pretty much EOL platform
AM5 is now here and I will have a 7800X3D in my possession soon™️
or a minecraft server
...those are a thing?
right
yeah I already forgot about them
AYYYYYMD PRICE SLASHES MOTHERFUCKER
honestly though, 14th gen intel were effectively dead on arrival

barely any improvement over last gen
more heat output to go with it
AMD has been killing it at making chips you can actually put in builds
other than the whole boosting to TJ Max thing on the 7000X chips
sort of like how they marketed the 7900XTX as a "drop in upgrade"
because it was a reasonable size, didn't use some stupid proprietary adaptor for power and didn't require an absurd PSU
true
I have an AM5 ITX mobo shipping to me soon™️
backorder
paid 188 of the local for it
technically it has the A620 chipset
but I really don't care too much for the overclocking capability on the CPU
was just planning on enabling eco mode and ignoring it
The characters Remedy have from past games in AW2 is 👌
Also the voice actor for "Max Payne" is good imo.
Talk about the devil, just yesterday we talked about dual screens and DS/3DS
Switch 2 dual screen would be mega pog
I wonder if this is the really old patent these fucks are reporting on again, cause gamerant loves recycling content, fuckin trash of a site
Or is it something new
Trying to look the patent up on uspto but nothing I can see
They seem really cool yeah, I know a guy who used to work there
But I am not sure if this is just a patent renewal, cause it looks an awful lot like 3DS lol
But I am not wholly sure why the patent differs quite a bit from 3DS as we know it, or why it mentions "detachable", cause 3DS screens sure ass can't be detached
Severe neck pain scenario that 😄
This is kind of a problem
Basically old tech will just be dead cause they don't support mesh shaders lol
Intel is especially dead lol
T&L all over again.
Mesh shaders are great (enormous free quality/performance boost) for everyone using hardware ~5yo or newer.
Give it another 5 and it will be everywhere
There are plenty of people still using 5 year old or way older hardware that aren't planning to upgrade lel
1060s, 1660s, etc
I am still happy with muh RX 5700
1060 is 7.4 years old
1660 and rx5700 support mesh shaders
Previous console gen being weak warped people’s perception for how long hardware is supported
Hm, seems that Nvidia supports mesh shaders since Turing, so 1660 should support them
Yeah
super not well
I don't really bother playing shooters below 120fps or so
alchemist supports mesh shaders
Intel has been getting quite interesting
I hope the performance on Battlemage isn't complete ass
Though I am somewhat sold on AMD's AFMF so I don't want to not buy AMD
Fuck off, cunts
None of those are illegal
Nintendo lawers giving themselves a reason to exist
can't have nintendo question why they hired them in the first place
How's the perf for Barry's Wake 2?
technically any dual screen device can be split in half
Technically
gabe lookin slimmer
His brain implants sap the power they need from his body fat
If the shot was more zoomed out and he was standing he would appear fatter.
In the same month, more like
Nintendo is progressively releasing less and less first party games and prepping for next gen
So, release it in November lol, preparation for holiday season, good sales
very good for me with 6700xt. Played with 1440p high preset and quality fsr (1276p upscaled) and got like 60-120 fps, amd thingy reports 75 avg now. Switched to 4k with the same stuff though, so now it upscales from 1440p and I get only around 10 less fps, very smooth with freesync on tv
gotta note though that I have everything oc'd, but yeah the perf is a lot better than what the spec sheet might've suggested. can't play with rt though of course
60fps+ here too with 3080(10gb) at mostly max everything, quality DLSS & without RT @1440p , might turn down Post-processing to Low to see if there's a big difference
But working this weekend and loads of other stuff going on so have played like 4hrs~
@grizzled bramble @deft bloom good to hear
I'd be tempted to play but I never played Barry's Wake 1
How's that even possible I remember a ton of hype for the first one way back when
I never got into them sort of games
Like I remember it being hyped up as the holy shit this is why you need to upgrade to Vista and get a DX10 GPU game
Bloody younguns
21-30
Bitch
Oh and it was also supposed to be open world back then
Yes
ok, imma go put the baby on the fire

Ah yes
is this the switch version?
They made a switch version?
Obv I think it's a joke
But I don't see a Switch even booting alan wake 2
decided to try my stream speed. Any ideas on how to be more consistent?

@ashen lark
So, apparently we are getting Asian focus reworks
Next expansion coming already lol?
Must be nice to have central heating in your lawn.
franckfurt server gg
Yes
Anybody play world of tanks?
💀
what did he say tho
Joke, woosh
I really want a VR headset so I can play liminal space horror maps in it ....
There are a few amazing ones for Half Life Alyx
But yeah
VR horror sounds intense
Okay then mixed reality
Or vive
Some people are also selling their index headsets for less than the original price if one can afford it
never gonna sell mine
Well not everyone uses it enough
One of my irl friends got an index just this week and I'm so jealous
But deckard soon
ye
I'm very intrigued about this new VR console the rumors mention
Is Deckard a standalone like Quest? Or one that needs a computer like Index?
standalone is the rumor
Wait you can feel shit with the Index????
Oooo hek
Idk if this person has an index
But he mentioned the force feedback when touching things and the index seems to be the only one that can do this
Me when I make my Bluetooth connected vibrating butt plug appear as a sound device to windows
Xd
generally you don't need a vr headset to touch anything
discord users are usually unaware
Lol
Uh it is the controllers
You can use them on a vive as well
hey far fetched question here, anyone in here play destiny 2 with a wooting keyboard?
i got a warning today for using "automation or skill augmentation"
and i think its because of the keyboard's gamepad mode functionality, because you can use that for XIM devices
which is forbidden in destiny 2
yep but thats more a problem for a therapist i think instead of this server lol
see thats the thing, im not even using my keyboard to play the game
its just connected to my pc while im playing on controller
FNAF movie has surpassed Mario at the box office opening
Lmao insane
FNAF has that kinda pull?
I had no clue
The reviews are terrible but I guess doesn't matter
It also has the pull for people that just want horror movies
Mario didn’t have a popular genre that it also covered
i want to see dune 2, but i still need to watch part 1 :S
and then get an ornithopter lego set
Isn't it out next year? Can't take you that long to see DUNC in the meantime.
I mean if it's even worth seeing
I've read the books up to five, and man does the story go to shit and that's even before the son took over
Just wait till you get to the part of the story where they have specially developed sexual witches who can cause instant desire with just the look at a character and completely mind control them
But no actual magic, it's all manipulation through mental manipulation and body language
Eh that's all past the first book.
The movies are still only covering the mail story, not all the fun times after it.
Like turning into worm hybrids.
Yeah...
Man it devolved fast. First book was pretty fun, second had some interesting ideas.
Then it just got weird. Really, really weird.
spoilers :p
yeah.. so i have a few months 😄
3rd March of 2025?
Don't have both 😦
Lol what annoyed me was seeing the trailer for part 2 while I haven't watched the first when I was at the cinema
I closed my eyes and tbh I forgot everything so it worked

Gaslight yourself into not believing second part of the movie is already in production so you'll have a nice surprise once it releases
thats unfornunate
I want to see part 2 because IMAX
they gotta make imax more popular in EU
lol it's a complete rip off
still a "who cares' amount of money
lol
for a better experience when watching
It's not though
I have a 65'' 4K OLED with great HDR, and a 5.1 surround system, real speakers, no soundbar / HTIB, but actual full size speakers and calibrated for my room.
Watching movies is fantastic
Incredibly immersive, far better than any Theater I've been too
have only heard good things about 70mm imax
Bad contrast, blurry image
what kinda cinema u visiting
The normal kind
70mm is equivalent to 18k
cs2 really need to fix its fucking competitive rank system
Or don't
was lem in csgo - got silver 5 in cs2 and I’m going against globals that got put in silver because they played with friends
shit is super enjoyable and a lot of fun
Just put it down to rest
Yeah it’s just barely worth playing right now - might need to pick something else up until everything is fixed
if they banned analog, theyd have to ban controllers LOL
anyone playing BF2042? we should get together and do some squads 😄
Anti cheat not compatible with my system, and really does not seem like a game worthwhile to boot onto windows just to play.
Possibly to be released somewhere after beyond good and evil 2
Urobutcher?
Ah Madoka Magica
The anime didn't wrap up the story?
I feel sad I never actually finished the series
I only watch anime with waifu, and she didn't like the series
I quite liked it, was really interesting, didn't pick it up after waifu refused to watch it
Alan: No kidding, didnt think youd get them done this quickly
Alice: On occasion, I can perform all sorts of miracles, my dear
Alan: Oh reallllyyyyy?
Alice: Welll, you seemed to think so last night
I remember when that happend in the madoka movie 3
huh?
people watch madoka?
idk but surely that conversation is from madoka since its posted right after that chart
Im binging this YT Channel and watching his alan wake playthrough

From the sleepy small town diner and old lakeside cabin, to the dark forests and decrepit mines, welcome to the game that has always embodied creepy and comfy for me!

Doubt the same goes for Alan Wake II
cause Control barely runs on Deck
Control barely ran on my PC
I managed to somewhat stay about 60FPS on medium settings
it was ok for me for the most part, cause its third person, those games always feel sluggish anyway
huh?
If Control is anything to go by, Northlight is seriously impressive
That game feels like one massive lore deep tech demo
Considering the 1st is from 2014, and looks this good
I dont doubt it
o
mhhh i still prefer 16s graphics for this years games
yeah I hope avatar does the good surprise and puts them back on the scene
16s?
FF16
oohh
yeah
BG3 and AW2 are the best games this year
FF16, maybe avatar has a shot imo
and as a game it's better too, while I liked ff a lot in the end it wasn't really that good
also, that mission in Control thats usually limited to Playstation, I was able to follow a guide to edit the exe file and unlock it on PC
That mission with Kojima voicing it
16 had nearly real time rendered cutscens from the quality of the looks, I still think graphics wise it's a better piece than AW
rest I agree, good game but had some misses on parts
insane take, unless you're comparing ps5 graphics only
even then it's insane
I mean I'm looking at videos of it and it kinda looks like what RE2 remake already could've done
hah nope
watch the 2 digital foundry videos on it, or better yet, play it yourself on a 4k oled tv
might play it at some point but so far it looks very good to me, just not the best I've seen this year
it literally is the best looking game this generation
and not going to compare it on 4k if I dont have 4k that's just silly
well the df vids are mostly 1440p, comparing the ps5 and pc settings
wish I had a 4090 or something so I could try path tracing and such, but yeah it's a marvel to look at even without. funny enough the rt off setting still has rt in it
RT in some degree has been around for years before RTX even in real time rendering
does anyone play geometry dash

I don't care much for GOG myself but I know a lot do
lol
Myselfg, I just think Steam or GOG, I own the games about the same legally anyways.
Life's hard for Linux gamers, it's either-or
- Support company which heavily invests in Linux gaming ecosystem, but once it goes under your games are gone
- Support company which gives you DRM-free ownership over the games you buy, but doesn't give a flying F about Linux gaming
A lot of games on Steam are DRM free
Also, it was said years ago, but Gaben was asked about what would happen if Valve were to go out of business
He said they'd release offline patches for as many games a they could, as for the rest they'd offer downloadable servers for years afterwards for people to claim their games
Of course online DRM was a lot less...fucky over a decade ago
I mean we'd never really know if they'd followed through in case the worst happens
Thankfully Steam's own DRM is very easy to circumvent. It's when game devs and publishers add their own it becomes troublesome.
Not sure, if Steam went down I might be done with PC gaming at least
Yeah, but still there will be a lot of games which will get under ;-;
I can't see it happening before I die, I may only be 34, but I don't know if I'll live to be super old, not a healthy kinda dude, we'll see. 😛
Well I know we can't really discuss it, but there's always the Johnny Depps famous movie franchise way of doing things in case of the worst
The thing is, I'm not sure why they bother with DRM
Cause I am pretty sure DRM doesn't add more sales, definitely not more to cover up the cost of Irdeto's massive bills
It's a bit weird that they bother
Cause a pirate wasn't going to pay to begin with
DRM just... costs them more
Steamworks DRM is fully optional, but it's more of an option for suits in game companies to keep them calm and certain about Steam than a nuisance for gamers or a barrier for pirates
And Valve fully knows this
Same thing with Epic's EOS, as easy to circumvent as Steamworks
Well if anything a barebones DRM like Steam's is effective enough that you can't just copy and paste files across PCs and they will just work
Aka shareware
And that's enough to dissuade what, 99% of consumers from pirating?
You can, you just need to copy both files and manifest, and you can run the game on the other PC, given you run through Steam account with that game
About circumventing it it's a matter of replacing 2 files
I won't say which, I don't want to get bonked
Indeed you shouldn't, but probably most of us know how to
But yeah, 99% of people won't be able to circumvent it, and that enough for Valve to advertise it as "reliable" DRM
I just inherently think that DRM is a flawed concept that some executives came up with
But stats do not back up its usefulness
Like, I think Denuvo was like 100k a year at to implement or something?
Do we really think pirates will be dissuaded enough to buy a 100k worth of profits, after steam share and etc, to cover up the game devs DRM costs?
I say they do not
Emulation is an even far worse type of DRM to implement cause I think there the effect of DRM will be even less
Not only you expect for pirates to buy the game, but also the console itself
People from poor countries will not do that
DRM, imo, is just a flawed concept
Yeah, DRMs are a moot point, but it keeps suits happy and asleep at night
But some do start to see that DRMs are unnecessary, Bandai Namco has already ditched Denuvo, Capcom won't be using it for future releases and removes it from current ones
Not like Nintendo hasn't sold like 140 million Switch consoles already and some few extra sales from people that instead just emulate with stolen hardware files will give them much more profits
Capcom is instead pursuing their own DRM which when you think about it, makes far more sense than feeding Irdeto
IIRC Both Bandai and Square's suits said they'll be ditching Denuvo
Bandai has removed Denuvo from most of their games, and Tekken 8 is supposedly releasing without Denuvo too
And about Capcom's DRM... They already tried with RE8... And how that ended...
RE8? Didn't that get cracked in a few days
Yup
Not only it took a few days to remove it (with Denuvo in tandem)
It was also cause of many bugs on release
Thing is Denuvo has a really bad name, so bad that even suits seem to notice this
They now try with Nintendo, but while Nintendo said they will allow it, they won't be using it
DRM in general has a bad name
Nintendo prolly realized that DRM is just kinda useless
You need to buy into their platform, at that point you prolly have money
They patched out easy software homebrews, only the hardware ones are left but they are expensive and dangerous
Like, if a person emulates on PC, they weren't going to buy a Switch anyways
I bought a Switch
To get on Nintendo's nerves
I can say that all games I've bought I am emulating fully legally and in compliance with DMCA and DSM
Ah yeah that makes sense
I have 2 switches, one mariko "legal" one and one software jailbroken
One of them doesn't get used as much, can you guess which one
Switch OLED imo is really dumb
Bad hardware backed by a really good screen that's wasted by flawed performance of the SoC
Switch 2 I am 100% buying early
If there's the odd chance that a software jailbreak is discovered
Imma be honest, my Switch lies down and collects dust until there's time to dump a cartridge
I much more prefer emulating games on Deck
Joy-Cons are really uncomfortable to hold after longer time, as I have bigger hands ;-;
I have a Nintendo Pro controller but yes joycons are trash tier
Oh yeah, I prefer playing 3DS and DS games on these consoles
But Deck is more comfortable to me than Switch, and suspend function works just as well
Eh, it takes like 30 seconds, you can get used to it
Besides, as DX12 and Vulkan are getting more popular we will be seeing these in more and more games
Oh, I don't give a flying F about graphics, I'm all about those mechanics and gameplay
I may be 25yo, but I was raised on Pentium 3 PC and clone of a clone of a Famicom
Thing is yeah, I do agree with you to a large extent, but PSX level of graphics on a game like Scarlet and Violet are hard to excuse
But yeah I have been replaying Pokemon Legends Arceus and imo people gave it way too much shit
It's a really really fun pokemon game
Scarlet and Violet, bad performance, stuttering and terrible visuals aside, is actually a really fun pokemon game
And tbf Pokemon is all I care about from Nintendo so, I am fine with the last 3-4 Pokemon releases
They lived up to the fun
On Joy-Cons - yeah
But I've put ~120h into BotW and ~200 into TotK, on an emulator, but still
Last Pokemon game I've played was Pokemon Emerald on DS
And I've paid a lot for that cartridge ;-;
Newest ones were Gen IV for me
Only docked on my big 55" LG OLED here
Emulation prolly makes a lot of Nintendo games a lot more fun cause of better performance though
I have 1080p monitor too, I'm not really "compatible" with bigger resolutions, besides 1440p for work
5x?
Oh, ok
I'm still using YPbPr and SCART cables to TV
PSX and PS2?
PS2, and what's more funny, the only way to connect my PC to TV is through YPbPr, HDMI chip in TV is cooked
I dunno where's my PS2 nowadays but its AV cable died on me years ago, and the few chinese knockoffs of the original never worked
Tbf the hardware might be dead, it was an old slim
But emulation of PS2 is still far better than the original
given the right mods and texture packs out there
without those things emulation is just as good as an original PS2
Dualshock 2 controllers were.. really meh
I remember them being comfortable, at least in my hands
But those rubber thumbsticks do not survive long, at least 3 units I had had theirs rip
Yeah
I kinda like it as gimmicky as it is and I never could figure out how slowly I had to release to not fire
Definitely worth going through the trickery to get the DS3 working with analog buttons with PCSX2
Death Stranding 3?
given his intentions of how big MGS3 was supposed to be he had to scale down a lot and scrap some ideas
the fight with The End i.e. was supposed to last for days, not minutes
i was basically running around with the stun gun and whenever i knew where he was i was sneaking up on him
making him shaky all the time

never killed a single person in any MGS game except 5
I wish analog buttons were still a thing and developers made more use of them
can't say the same about Splinter Cell since the missions always involved liquidating someone
i was fine with them, but there was so much tomfoolery you could pull off
i.e. the rolls when in prone
or the stickers on the boxes
wait mgsv controls were amazing
and god damn, did i love the anime waifu stickers on the cardboard boxes

Paz was a pain in the ass tbh
i mean the game tried its best to describe the plot without Peace Walker
but i get the point
the whole zombies shit was weird tho
and Skull Face
oh...
yeah, i remember now
totally forgot it was her
that one was kinda questionable tho
but the plushie foxes, god damn
Wooting should adapt a plushie fox as their mascot, ngl

Which one? Peace Walker?
Oh
I kinda liked MGSV
I heavily disliked you have to wait a lot of time for item development
After some time I was so frustrated I said "fuck it" and made a mod which reduces deployment time and cost
Many studios show that DRM doesn't increase sales at all, and infact is a net loss
However, as said
Suits hate the idea of people getting their game for free, even if it costs them money

I'll check it out
lua injection is easy, but it's a pain in the ass to modify certain values to make it work, and Fox Engine is unnecessary fussy
That being said, Nyumi, if you find any bugs with the mod, let me know, I may finally come around and fix some of them, like the one with the water pistol, I spent so much time on it but I couldn't replicate it
I loved when in endgame I wanted to farm S on missions, so I just deployed with water pistol only
Whenever I see videos like this, it's always funny how cherry picked it is. It also makes me wonder how fresh the Windows install is.
Best comment I saw was "And in another 10 games, they would keep crashing on Linux, or run at half speed, or not boot at all"
Overall games on Linux work quite worse than on Windows
But still it's a miracle they work at all
Yeah and it’s getting a lot better but for performance Linux isn’t doing anything better or worse really
Any difference that improves it by using a translation layer can be done on windows too that’s not the OS making a difference
Sure enough, and in many cases it's just as simple as swapping DX's dlls

New feature: Added support for AMD HYPR-RX. Read more about HYPR-RX here.
Enhancement: Added support for 1600x900 screen resolution
Bugfix: Fixed a bug that prevented the Ally from recognizing 8K 60Hz external monitors
HYPR-RX being supported is interesting
Lol, good question
NG update, Creation Store 2
Starfield I bet took all the resources to finish up so they just ignored all side projects
Still, DXVK is way ahead of D3D9On12, which is funny
On one hand some nerds reverse-engineering DirectX onto Vulkan with some help from Valve
On the other Microsoft, natively implementing DX9 on DX12
Old Test Drives can straight up mess up newer Windowses to the point they can't even boot anymore
And old XP surprisingly does have patches for SMBv2 and SSD/NVMe support, I was shocked
Especially so, given Vista didn't got those patches
Sierra being gone is very sad
the funniest part is that win11 21h2 gets less updates than all of win10
Nyo, dead for years
They were absorbed by Activision in 2008, so in a way, Xbox do own them
Didn't Ubisoft buy Sierra

Solution: Controller DRMs
We truly are living in 2023
just gotta hope they approve more stuff now
ye but fighting gamers are kinda affected too
otherwise you only got stuff like mousetrap
How long till there will be PCBs/modules you stick onto official Xbox Controllers and will emulate inputs just like cheating devices?
would be possible but quite a lot of effort
more likely we will see xims or somethign with harvested xbox chips
hope sony copies that
You're right
Still, I'd love to see a game genie you stick onto a controller

FSR3 supported woo
Why is FSR2 and 3 specified, but under Nvidia it's just "Xess and DLSS support"
Which versions
Well DLSS3 exists and that has frame gen
If FSR3 is supported.. is DLSS3 supported?
I wonder if the fact that AMD is hardware agnostic means that some devs will just not bother with Nvidia's proprietary solutions
"Oh Intel has their own... Nvidia has their own... just do AMD's cause that works on all stuff"
This also might be the first time I've ever seen rebar mentioned on a spec sheet
Not yet, but they have an upscaler

it relies on jumpscares though ;-;
yeh xd
that's not horrifying
that's just a ton of headaches
horrifyingly bad headaches
me after writing a paper and having to proofread it the next morning
yeh .-.
I write drunk and read hungover
my spelling errors, shit sentence structure and really outlandish logical leaps only compound the headache

that drunken mental gymnastics
I find I shoot my ideas down before I get them on paper
I don't do that when I'm drunk
and I can rework them so that they do work when sober
the process is stupid and convoluted, but it gets me some solid papers that I otherwise wouldn't have written
What else do you expect from a person named debil
the most brilliant individual you'll never willingly speak to
dang this bourbon is actually quite drinkable
given that a go
AI doesn't really comprehend and writes pretty much useless crap
what I write is too specialised to make that work
I also just hate AI and enjoy not violating academic integrity
because I don't want to get kicked out of uni and possibly have my undergrad stripped from me
and yes, they can actually do that
I am trying to avoid that
that would be bad
would make me very sad
:(
it would also make it harder to get a job cause they will just think youll use AI anytime you can
no, it would mean I just have no undergrad...
and can't get a job in the first place
true..
and because it was stripped from me
most unis would never take me on again
I would be shut out of academia for the rest of my life
💀
:/
and my life would become stupidly short as a result
Im shocked mine is still going tbh
Legion GO releases tomorrow
Why are all the handheld settings UIs ontop of Windows so freaking ugly?
this is the better one from them all tbh...
Why is Linux ugly?
🤔
Lenovo want you to buy games from GamesPlanet website rather than Steam so they get a cut of the money
I never mentioned Linux
Linux can look ugly, especially XFCE by default but I think default Gnome and Pantheon desktops look AMAZING
and deepin looks pretty neat too by default but I dont like that aesthetic overall
also, the Legion GO's FPS mode... that requires games to support dual input right? cause the right controller uses mouse and the left uses controller input....I think
Dont some competitive games ban simultaneous input?
just spend a few weeks rtfming and you'll be able to change color of window borders, its easy bro who needs windows
I've been observing the progress (or lack thereof) of linux for like 20-30 years waiting to see if it'll ever change and make something widely useful of itself
but I don't think they ever will, the gatekeeping ballache of using it is a badge of honor for its neckbeard userbase
its sad cause its the closest thing on PC windows has to a competitor, but they just don't have what it takes
Fair enough
"Baffles voice actors" -> they don't get paid insane rates
Like, sorry VAs, but your rates are actually rather insane
why is it that when people get fucked over corporate greed its the people that gets blamed and not the shitty corpobro practices
AI TTS is getting more realistic anyways
And you don't have to pay 300$ or whatever for each hour of VA's service
More like.. input prompt, get a recording within a minute, done
yeah, it doesnt really bother me that voice actors are out of jobs. it makes the budget for the actual game bigger
Voice Acting is an important piece of the game
I guess you play more multiplayer games
i enjoy story games too
I mainly do singleplayer so voice acting is really important
But yeah VA's do want a massive chunk of money for voiceovers
Not too sure why a VA really deserves more money than an expert level programmer?
when AI is at the level of real voice actors, they are out of jobs
So idk, 30-40$ per hour or so?
Both people invested tons of time into their craft, arguably a programmer far more so with a degree and everything
that's the thing, it won't
not yet
Yet one of them gets to work 9 to 5, paid a pretty decent wage but in the tens of dollars per hour
Other works whatever times, gets paid like 300$ an hour
even with work its still gonna sound robotic
by the time it sounds reasonably natural they'd may as well just pay the fucking voice actor
id give the AI 1-3 years and itll sound like a real person
i dont really care if a voice actor is saying it if AI sounds 1:1
I mean it can sorta do that already, but those clips are pretty much all pre-rendered
and tweaked a lot before its released
having it generated on the spot like that is next to impossible without human input tweaking the weird uncanny stuff in there
for now
the way ai is devoloping
its gonna be 1:1 im pretty sure
but its gonna take years
yeah its not like we have any power to stop it until its too late
when every piece of entertainment media is written by AI, graphically generated by AI, voiced by AI and reviewed by AI
i think ur not thinking logically if you think people are gonna stop the development of AI just because the people needs jobs, if it earns the companys money its not gonna get stopped
Not necessarily
right but, studios and corpos in the entertainment business are already bleeding money over making horrible movies nobody really wants to watch
you think things will improve for them if they try watering down their already garbage media with AI crap

im talking about games not movies
games aren't very profitable either apart from the biggest studios
and mobile freemium scams
i wasnt talking about movies using ai, im talking about how gaming studios are gonna use AI voices instead of real voices. i dont really care if movie studios are making trash movies
you should care about your games becoming trashier though, and that's very much been a thing for years now
there's no way this will make things any better for anyone but investors
games are not gonna become trashier because AI voiceovers are coming + i dont buy games before doing research about them
Thing is with AI, you lot are forgetting that AI can be trained
its one of many things that will be used to speed development time up and water down the quality
What VAs should be doing is actually training a model for the next months with various voice inputs so it can perfectly replicate their voices
companies these days care about one thing and that's pushing their turd out their door as quickly as possible so they can get to work on the next turd
Then you release that model, and you can license it out for companies to use
i couldnt care less about games. i only play taq shooters and from software games
and some other games
well keep living in denial that shit like this will ever affect what you like then
Suddenly, you don't have to personally partake in VA sessions, it's easier for developers to get the lines, and your voice is now available globally so, higher coverage
Can sell your voice so much more
AI is not a replacer, it's a tool
i wouldnt call it denial
Like, instead of wasting days working on a single project, outlicense a model that replicates your voice that will be bought and used by tens of projects
It's just stonks
I mean, we've seen the dumbing down happening everywhere in society in the pursuit of fastest possible profit, its not like the gaming industry is any different, and no your favourite genres of games will not be spared
Indie devs will always be there to save the day
And Kojima
Cause that lad refuses to be normie
and from soft
Trials Evolution?
Don't people still play that somewhat
https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/10/steam-deck-officially-hits-over-12000-games-playable-and-verified/ Happy @fading spade noises
indeed <3
I noticed that they keep processing older games to categorize them, at the moment only less than 20% of my library is unknown .
They even marked Sonic CD as playable
anyone play League of Legends on 60HE? How do you handle F keys to spectate other players?
if you are spectating, whats the issue with hitting the fn key and the number?
that's actually not a bad idea
i don't use F keys
Contractors tend to get a much higher hourly pay especially on very short term contracts because they aren't getting additional benefits like job security, a consistent paycheck, insurance, etc. Once you factor these in you'll very quickly realize why a sporadically employed expert voice actor is payed more for their time then an salaried expert employee. To add on top if the studio REALLY thought the cost was soo high, they could've gone with cheaper amateurs, or even asked their expert programmer to do the voice overs, but we all know why they didn't want to.
With SAG-AFTRA, pretty sure that something like a cheaper amateur is ceasing to exist
Everyone is getting paid what they call a "standard rate"
im not spectating, I use F keys ingame to look at other lanes quickly
icic, yea not sure
probably use Fn then
alternatively, since league has less active buttons, you can bind camera to 1,2,3,4. Leave 5 for ward
cant take my hand of the mouse
and then use mouse buttons for items
isn't fn resting at thumb position?
ah i guess its different for qwertz layout
right hand thumb
If they're a part of the guild and your a major studio then yeah you'd struggle to hire a voice actor for pennies with your billion dollar budgets
No but seriously, a smaller game studio can still find cheap amateur rates by looking for people outside the guild, and once again They can use internal employees to do the voice overs if the cost of a professional actor is too high
that very very rarely turns out well...
The AI used in that video game didn't turn out very well either
To add: The voice actor's work is rather sporadic. So yeah they get a big up front payment, but they might not get work for another few weeks. IF you want to get a voice actor for a "smaller" rate, you can hire them on as a salaried employee
thats why unions like SAG-AFTRA are negotiating for profit sharing clauses
that way the voice actors work is an investment in the financial future as well
instead of just investing their labor into the portfolio of the bourgeoise
One of the frustrating things when people say "What YOU think Y should be payed as much as X!"
Usually X is a "more important", though unrelated role. What frustrates me is the question is never asked "Why should Y starve so the CEO can buy another mega-yacht he's use once in a blue moon?"
Any games you guys would recommend
I hear fortnite might be good
ima start playing it once that new season comes out
heard it gonna be the old fortnite type

Asian Mobile game by the developers of Genshin Impact
It's actually fun this time around because it's way more F2P friendly and the combat is turn based
I know what the game is. The name is what I'm caught up on.
Ah
don't they have like a competitor making honkai impact
seems kinda confusing to me
They made Honkai Impact as well so yeah
Ratio is a pretty common name lol
its a word not a name last I checked
Where?

Star rail has something about a train in space so it’s not a word salad but makes some sense

Wild Hearts? Are they sure? Won't Xbox set on fire just by trying to start this game?
I kinda started frequenting Football Manager 24 forums and it's really funny how they keep releasing the same game every year
The purported "improvements" apparently don't even work and make the game buggy
But tbf, it's a really good time sink, I like it

How weird
Why does a singleplayer visual novel have always online DRM? I swear the chinese are crazy 😄
sexism in asia is something else isn't it
its like one step from women being tradeable commodities
Dose it have paid unlock?
Who knows. I am fully expecting there to be some kind of adult content DLC you can buy to patch the game outside of Steam. Seems to be a running thing with these games to make them possible to sell on Steam.
Yeah but SP games with IAP are always online so you can just cheat all the unlocks

Steamdrm is a joke at this point
I use offline copies of games to prevent mods from breaking mid saves
And it's so trivial to copy the install, drop in like 3 files and it works
Yeah same. I keep all of my Paradox games and similar type of games in a sandbox of sorts. Cracked and all mods from the workshop turned into local files just in case.
Cause I will absolutely take 3 months break and go back to an existing save - Which is nigh impossible without going to such extremes.
Yep
Paradox games include rollback beta branches for exactly this purpose 😦 no need to crack
The GAME does. The mods do not.
right, Steam is a bit behind with workshop functionality updates
Oh god no, no
Silent Hill Ascension, ladies in gentlemen
I was expecting something.. TellTale but online voting system?
This is ass lol
Why do we know the outcomes
The whole point of interactive series is to pick options based on intuition and experiencing the results no?
The whole enigma of what will happen is why horror is a thing lol, and why you could make really good interactive series with that concept
This just looks god awful, you can just choose for all characters to die lol, and voting costs money lel
everyone should have just given up on this style of game after Immortality
Still waiting to see wtf did the polish company do to Silent Hill 2 Remake
Having some hope that they didn't fuck it up, there's some solid talent there to make SH2R a good game
Silent Hill five's talent is incredible, but the developer is untested and questionable
Why is Konami always giving me reasons to doubt
wow so cool, can't wait for the 18 loading screen checkpoints needed to explore it all
@ebon raft lets move here since its game not tek
also cs2 has felt soo much smoother for me
there was incredible microstutter in go, even tho everyone else is stuttering like mad, my pc is smooooooth as silk
Yeee
Well it’s tech in a game
Anyway CS2 feels worse for me since I didn’t have a stutter in GO
rip
And I have stutters in 2 if I’m playing on native resolution
yea in just a week of playing ive been able to replicate my most insane flick i hit in go in 6 years
cs2 is alright
although I do find myself missing more headshots than I think I should
afaik there is a bug where the models don't align with the hitboxes, idk if that's been fixed or not
So I play downscaled at 2592 x 1080 (24:10 version of 1080p)
I know they’re doing their best to fix it
and ive been watching back my screen recordings, i absolutely do not deserve half of the headshots im getting lmao
so the bug still is there, that'd explain why I kept missing so many headshots, damn
Nothing lands
at this point tho i dont think its a bug
I’m just bad
i think they are grabbing the mouse position from the frame you render but the click is subticked to the moment the game receives the input
the normal rifles feel worse to me
Spraying feels incredibly off
especially the ak
so your bullet effectively travels back in time by your frametime
in csgo you had to lead by 1/tickrate
and like its such a small difference but it makes a difference in a game this tuned
my nade throwing ofc also super leveled up, i never bothered with binds so i never really could pull stuff off besides mirage's ez pz smokes and a few left clicks
Peeker’s advantage is also hilarious
CS2 is shit and dead
i dont think its as severe as people make it out to be
Go back to Valolrant
I also feel like deathmatch rounds became far more dense with people
the pro matches are different, but i still wreck anyone going long at my rank
Yeah they seem a bit populated
Behind you with knife out
welcome to CS:GO deathmatch
I don't remember it ever being that bad
you probably last dmmed in a lull in go
right around operations it got that bad normaly
