My local gamestop tried to stop me from buying FFXIV back in 2011.

#

I had cleaned my room and found an old giftcard froM Gamestop that was expiring

#

it was a 20$ giftcard

#

I went in there, and for 15$ bought FFXIV 1.0 Collectors Edition

#

Guy at the counter kept trying to stop me

#

Was a fantastic purchase. duck_sip

orchid prism
#

Think my best purchases have been the BG2 collector's edition in a random bookstore or the Civ 1-4 CE collection box in a supermarket in the boonies

#

Or maybe the WoW 15 year statue at half price when GameStop was closing in Denmark.

still spire
#

That is a good deal on BG2 CE

#

It saw a huge spike in value after BG3 release too if sealed

#

Doubt yours is still sealed though.

feral ferry
#

Well, that was perfectly normal back then

#

Since then VA agencies and unions made sure that VA's are perfectly reasonably compensated

orchid prism
#

That's about it

still spire
#

Nice

feral ferry
#

Game development companies nowadays seem to think that VA's are starting to get paid too much havo

#

Poor Telltale

#

Hasn't this company been somewhat cursed?

#

I remember there being bankruptcy woes a year or so back

#

Then was there an acquisition or something and that went not well?

orchid prism
#

I thought they were dead years ago ngl

still spire
#

They fired the employees who are trying to unionize

#

They also tried to pay them way less severance than their legally supposed to

#

Like multiple laws were broken during their firing

feral ferry
#

It's finished?

#

We finally done?

fringe salmon
#

No the ftc could break it up after still

#

They are trying to get it cancelled but idk how likely but would be via court and that would be after closing

#

Would be funny if it closes and then has to be broken up though

small comet
#

still dont really see why all those comissions are against it

hardy merlin
#

Antitrust? Microsoft is getting hella big, and they also mentioned about wanting to buy Nintendo and Valve

small comet
#

they sure arent the biggest in the gaming space

#

they should go after others first then

fringe salmon
#

consolidation is bad for consumers and those agencies are supposed to represent consumers

#

what else is as big as this?

small comet
#

all i see as a consumer is a win for cloud gaming and a future of maybe good acti/blizz

fringe salmon
#

what others are worse that they should go after first

small comet
#

trying to find the graph

vapid lintel
fringe salmon
#

if you think about embracer and such, maybe, but thats different since those arent as big as MS or have very narrow focus like only on games

#

embracer having more tiny studios doesnt really enable them to do anything

#

(and I also dont think they should buy more, it's also bad)

small comet
#

so conglomerate + infinite studios = ok

fringe salmon
#

no I just dont think it's worse than MS+ABK

small comet
#

i think it is

fringe salmon
#

both bad

hardy merlin
#

I'll just say, that companies don't usually have wiki pages dedicated to their scummy anti-consumer tactics https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embrace,_extend,_and_extinguish

"Embrace, extend, and extinguish" (EEE), also known as "embrace, extend, and exterminate", is a phrase that the U.S. Department of Justice found was used internally by Microsoft to describe its strategy for entering product categories involving widely used standards, extending those standards with proprietary capabilities, and then using those d...

fringe salmon
#

but embracer doesnt have things like hardware they make that can be used to lock out consumers or make bad deals from it

#

also if the argument is ftc should go after them, sure, these agencies arent limited to one case at a time

#

but the argument should then be they should ALSO go after that instead of saying it should be done instead or prioritized imo

hardy merlin
# small comet

btw, this is only Sony's Entertainment division, whole Sony is way bigger than that

small comet
#

yes

#

its also only microsofts game division

#

its a purely gaming focused graph

hardy merlin
#

Ah, makes sense

small comet
#

actually game studio focused to be exact

#

but yeah personally i dont feel like itll be all too bad

#

also cant see microsoft locking all games to xbox or such

fringe salmon
#

but the point is, they have the option to make it worse but dont offer the consumer anything in return that needs them to own the companies

#

CoD on gamepass doesnt only work if they but ABK

small comet
#

well apparently it does

#

otherwise it would have already happened wouldnt it

#

gamepass isnt new at this point

#

and actiblizz is clearly not interested themselves in adding games to gamepass

#

not like only microsoft can reach out for such deals

fringe salmon
#

yeah and if ABK just did the numbers and gamepass wasnt worth it for them, then microsoft needs to add a better deal or make gamepass revenue better

hardy merlin
#

idc about EA, Ubisoft or T2
But I sure care about what Microsoft is doing, mainly because I am a PC gamer, and they want whole PC market for themselves, close it just like console ecosystems and proprietary to their solutions

small comet
#

or actiblizz wants to retain a better way to manage userbase in their games

small comet
hardy merlin
#

Notions about buying Valve are making me worried though
And they could get enough money to do so easily
I hope not, but who knows who gets to run Valve after Gabe

small comet
#

i think microsoft controlling something as big and widely used as directx is way more scarry

still spire
#

We'll see I guess, but yeah, it could go all to shit

fringe salmon
small comet
#

so take control away for that

#

not the studios

#

the studios already use it anyway

#

especially actiblizz

vapid lintel
fringe salmon
#

that was just one example, having more studios enables more of that so it's better to just block one thing instead of saying do that but split away every other part of the company

hardy merlin
small comet
#

thats the real issue

#

they wont just switch to vulkan or something

fringe salmon
#

I just dont think it's hard to see how the second biggest company on the stock market behind apple maybe shouldn't be allowed to swallow up everything they want

hardy merlin
# hot spire valorant?

It's more of a tactical shooter than hero tbh, it's not like you can play around however you want, more akin to CS than TF2
Also - Vanguard -.-

hot spire
#

i mean tf2 comp is like cs and valorant

fringe salmon
#

yeah but tf2 comp was never near as big as the casual part

orchid prism
#

To be fair I don't think TF2 ever had an eSports powered marketing engine.

#

Unlike say... Overwatch where they tried to force it through lots of money

hot spire
#

tf2 was alwats second seat to cs

#

the third seat behind dota and cs

severe compass
#

CS and Dota have more solid separate teams don't they? IRC the problem with TF2 is that Valve's own team are able to shuffle between projects as they desire. This means even though TF2 was still popular, and making money the development team still shrunk down to like 2 guys

hot spire
#

all of valve is like that

solar lily
#

I don't recall if the rumour that #SaveTF2 made them hire externals for the meantime was true or not 🤔

There's definitely an uphill battle to get anything regarding TF2 comp done, from Valve's perspective they need to rebalance/redesign weapons so none of them are banned in comp which is not a process that was achieved over the course of two years let alone achievable in a shorter period of time that we need now. From the community's perspective they're not going to find any ingame mode viable unless it has the same classlimits set-up, for better or for worse regarding certain playstyles (Demoknight...)

#

Valve really should've pumped money into the tournaments anyway regardless of whether 'you can play ingame like you can in community comp', but I dunno how executive decisions like that work in that corporate structure

hardy merlin
#

That's the point, they should focus on comp but on casual, there's almost no multiplayer FPS games that focuses on casual community
Valve could happily chooch out new crates with hats, new maps and new events, and they would still have made money from this, and community would be happy
Meet your Match was the first TF2's step to grave

fringe salmon
#

Quickplay was first step to death

solar lily
#

I'm not sure whether there's any correlation between game population and developer-run servers as compared to games with only community-run servers

fringe salmon
#

It killed community servers which then killed communities hosting events and all that

solar lily
#

I mean maybe you got a point that if quickplay was never introduced then the news tab of teamfortress.com would have a far larger number of community event announcements

is scoreesports sponsored by valve or something? I swear every time I get a cs2 video from them it's them gas lighting people into thinking cs2 launch is fine and people should accept a half finished game at launch

ebon osprey

i mean its a finished game

its not as good a game as csgo was, but as a game its fine now

could be alot better but thats how things go

ebon osprey

crystal juniper

no it wouldn't starfield got destroyed in early reviews

ebon osprey
#

sure

#

but the betas were already an order of magnitude more finished than starfield is now a while after launch

crystal juniper
#

i mean it's fine if your definition of finished is the game can be played, but I don't think most of the community looks at cs2 as a finished game, even most of the people who are defending the cs2 launch are saying it just needs time and updates to be in a more finished state

ebon osprey
#

its not as featurefull a game as csgo was

crystal juniper
#

i mean cs go didn't launch great either, it was pretty rough at first

ebon osprey
#

sure but this is miles better

crystal juniper
#

being better than a horrible mess doesn't mean it isn't a mess as well

they could have easily delayed it and kept cs go until cs2 was more ready

sorry no

crystal juniper
#

sorry yes

ebon osprey
#

theres 1 remaining game without ring0

#

if you want ring0 go play faceit

crystal juniper
#

i'd honestly rather kernel anticheat than the current system

#

yeah kernel sucks but it's better than the alternative

ebon osprey
#

just because everyone else is being unethical doesnt mean you should too

#

if you want to play cs with kernel anticheat, faceit has you covered

crystal juniper
#

unethical?

#

okay i guess this conversation isn't going anywhere

ebon osprey
#

like if you want to deal with nonsense, valve leaves it open for the other systems to take over

severe compass
#

Kernel level means that any hole in the anticheat could lead to someone's entire PC getting got.

crystal juniper
#

yes i'm well aware of the issues with kernel

ebon osprey
#

and heres the advantage of not including it in the base game
if you want it, you can add it

crystal juniper
#

i don't disagree, but i also think the gains outweight the losses - either option will make one group of people angry/annoyed

ebon osprey
#

again if you want kernel anticheat in cs2, you can have it, and im pretty sure its free?

severe compass
#

Also if the company ever decided it wanted to, it would be able to immediatly perform malicious actions on their customers, like mining all their data

crystal juniper
#

yes myall i know

severe compass
#

Valve should do what Bungie did
Just sue the cheaters :D

ebon osprey
#

actually there is one major problem with the system, valve does make bank from the cheaters already, stimulating the steam marketplace (yes im aware of 3rd party, still a ton is done on the marketplace)

#

but they do ban an incredible amount of cheaters

#

over the past month valve has likely banned more players than valorants MAU

crystal juniper
#

at this stage cs is already propped up by gambling to a major degree

ebon osprey
#

obviously

crystal juniper
#

and also player behaviour

ebon osprey
#

no it is a statement about how big the game is

crystal juniper
#

yes, hence player counts

ebon osprey
#

which is very important

#

valorant is like faceit

crystal juniper
#

that statement literally means nothing because a game with more lax anti cheat and higher population will obviously have higher bans as a default

ebon osprey
#

yes
but its a different scale

crystal juniper
#

alright then

ebon osprey
#

again if you want low player counts and ring0

#

you can have it right now in cs2

crystal juniper
#

you could argue the opposite side of this coin too just as effectively

ebon osprey
#

super easy only as inconvenient as all ring0 are

severe compass
#

Has anyone tried a cheater shadowban that just puts them into games full of bots, or other cheaters?

ebon osprey
#

that requires a ton of extra servers

crystal juniper
ebon osprey
#

and yes the system does try to put cheaters with other cheaters

severe compass
#

They can't run the bots on the local machine?

crystal juniper
#

for league of legends and it made the game awful lol

ebon osprey
#

sure but that would be easily noticed

#

people hate the behavior score because it puts toxic folks in with cheaters

#

but for that matter i never ran into anyone blatant
at least not after reviewing the demos
sometimes you just gotta understand that the skill ceiling of the game is intensely high

crystal juniper
#

riots latest one is hilarious though. They pushed toxic/banned players to the games 'for fun' mode as a penalty until they played enough games to get back into ranked - and now people are saying it's destroyed the for fun mode with people purposely dying and losing games there

ebon osprey
#

shocker

severe compass
#

No I just realized the best anti-cheater weapon

unborn spruce

That game is like $60 and has one of the most rampant cheating problems I've ever seen in a game.

#

Afaik something around 40% of the playerbase uses hacks.

Or at least that was the report done by averaging like 300 games across regions using wallhacks and looking for obvious hacker signs. (Players communicating visually through walls, flying, etc etc)

Good to know.

severe compass

Eft is nore down to a lack of action

Cheaters feel safe cheating knowing the dev team can't do much

ebon osprey

Maybe the single most brain damaged hack to stop.

ebon osprey

unborn spruce

Roommate plays EFT constantly, he found a fly hacker 2 days ago.

Another 5 days ago.

ebon osprey

but no its not that easy

unborn spruce

Bro please if you can see a player yoloing at like 600m/s while everyone else is doing like 5m/s then you have yourself a hacker.

ebon osprey
#

thats only true for a glitch free game lel

#

which is fiction

unborn spruce
#

And that somehow implies you can't use simple pattern recognition to delete hackers?

#

Lmao no.

ebon osprey
#

pattern recognition isnt that simple

unborn spruce
#

It... really is.

#

You have a dude flying around at 600m/s and beelining toward loot through walls and skipping doors with noclip? You can very obviously see a hacker.

orchid prism

It can be. But you'd want to ensure it doesn't just automate the entire process. Gotta have a human checking footage.

ebon osprey
#

You can
A program to detect that is not easy

unborn spruce
#

💀 Bruh.

ebon osprey
#

And AFAIK they have an overwatch like system

unborn spruce

A program to detect patterns is S tier, that's like one of the things computers are best at.

#

Very complex patterns they struggle with, but simple small ones? Very simple.

#

Not everything is an NP Hard problem.

ebon osprey
#

Literally not even fully solved for handwriting

unborn spruce
#

He says, implying patterns always take the same form as handwriting.

#

Picked the worst example imaginable.

ebon osprey
#

Handwriting was one of if not the first pattern recognition programs

unborn spruce

Which might even mean something if that even meant something. KEKW

ebon osprey
#

And it's still not solved 40? Years later

#

Do you really think player behavior in game is simpler than drawing letters?

unborn spruce
#

Yes lmfao.

#

Far simpler.

ebon osprey
#

I would suggest you think harder then

unborn spruce
#

You can't really break handwriting down like you can a player activity, this is very simple to do.
Like if you can see a player is beelining toward exclusively the high value loot and skipping everything else then that's very much not a difficult pattern to isolate.

#

Only a supreme dumbass thinks difficulty in such things.

ebon osprey
#

Things easy for humans are not easy for computers yet
Handwriting is 2d sequential with a fixed set of patterns
Games are a minimum of 6 dimensions, + a ton of other 0d factors

unborn spruce
#

And that might even mean something if you can't simplify things. Fortunately we can.

#

Allow me to give you an example, aye?

ebon osprey
#

Will you admit you are wrong if the example is disproven?

unborn spruce
#

Happily.

ebon osprey
#

Shoot

unborn spruce
#

If I load into a game and kill 15 people in the first 5 minutes, all of which are in vastly different parts of the map, and I'm doing that 3 games in a row, am I getting REALLY lucky, or am I hacking?
I'm killing through walls, across mountains, in caves, on top of buildings, way outside of the range of any weapon in the game.

Doing so manually and legit takes a minimum of 20 minutes simply because of travel distance.

I can read the coordinate any player is at when they die, who kills them, what they're killed by, and where the killer is when they kill.

ebon osprey
#

OK so how do you make a computer detect those actions

unborn spruce
#

...

Is that sarcasm?

ebon osprey
unborn spruce
#

Yes that's the question, 4head. KEKW

#

Maybe you flag that as sus.

#

Because y'know, it can't happen.

#

Not without hacks or rare glitches.

ebon osprey
#

Sure but if the game thought that, it wouldn't have hit

crystal juniper
#

man at some point I feel you're just arguing to argue the point, I don't even know how this is a debatable topic

orchid prism
unborn spruce
#

Bro has ChatGPT logic, dude.

#

It's that simple.

ebon osprey
#

Again these things are definetly fixable, but it's nowhere near as easy as you would think

unborn spruce
#

Also bro has never programmed even once in his life, apparently.

#

A novice can see blindingly obvious solutions for this.

ebon osprey
#

And those solutions have issues

#

Cause tarkov isn't hitscan right?

unborn spruce
#

Yes which is why we use averaged pattern recognition.

#

Genuinely not hard.

#

Say you average the entire playerbase and it's averaging 3 kills a game, right? If you get one guy doing 25 kills a game for 15 games in a row, is he hacking or not?

#

You can legit just measure the average against new data and call it that way.

fringe salmon
#

Solutions have issues but you vastly underestimate how shit the tarkov game code is

unborn spruce
#

Have a human set upper and lower bound.

ebon osprey
#

That's an example of when someone should be automatically "overwatched"

#

But that's just having a human do pattern recognition

unborn spruce
#

No if they're killing the entire lobby 15 games in a row that's grounds for autoban.

ebon osprey
#

What if the lobby was 15 of me and 1 shroud?
That's probably the correct outcome

orchid prism
unborn spruce
#

Do you understand how statistics works?

ebon osprey
orchid prism
#

You're a very strange definition.

ebon osprey
#

I am extremely confident that I could lose 200 gunfight with shroud in a row even trying my hardest

unborn spruce
# ebon osprey I'm not, shroud is

Shroud isn't going to be getting the RNG to have every single player on the map all beeline at him every single game and guarantee killing all of them.

unborn spruce
#

This is normal.

ebon osprey
#

People routinely stream sniped the crap out of him
At least they did 4 years ago

crystal juniper
#

This isn't that complex a topic. If it was so hard to implement then games wouldn't have smurf detection easily done via detecting basic things that stand out from the norm - yet games do have smurf detection so it's not hard to understand that these things are easily doable with basic programming

unborn spruce
#

^

ebon osprey
#

The number of games that implement that can be counted with a single set of digits

unborn spruce
ebon osprey
#

And the number of games that have implemented those systems without complaints is zero

crystal juniper
#

alright he shifted the argument again, i tap out

unborn spruce
#

Same.

ebon osprey

If you are gonna bring up a new point, expect it to be dismantled too...

unborn spruce
#

You scored -1000 social credit with everyone, I think.

#

That whole thing was a level of GPT hallucination I didn't think a human was capable of. I mean outside of stuff like flat earth.

ebon osprey
#

As much as you dislike being corrected, if you can't prove your point, should you really still think it's right?

#

The ad homenim is not proof that I'm right, but it's incredible evidence for it...

unborn spruce
#

Dude you tried arguing against things that're not only already existing but common in computer science.

#

I have literal reality on my side, you have... nothing.

ebon osprey
#

So you claim

#

I provided counterexamples

unborn spruce
#

Anticheat exists, sir. You didn't provide shit.

ebon osprey
#

name one anticheat that is flawless

unborn spruce
#

Flawless isn't important to the original point. KEKW

#

Nowhere did anyone claim anticheat or computer pattern recognition was flawless, you said that and then pretended we all said that.

ebon osprey
#

If a trillion dollar company can't do anticheat properly

#

What makes it easy?

#

OK how about this

unborn spruce
#

I mean are you assuming pattern recognition is perfectly black and white? Either it's hard or easy and nowhere in between?

ebon osprey
#

Try to find an anticheat system that people aren't complaining about

unborn spruce
#

You do understand that difficulty is a sliding scale, right?

#

Like it's not binary.

ebon osprey
#

Definetly

unborn spruce
#

So why would anticheat be immune to that...?

#

Some things are just much simpler than others.

ebon osprey
#

sure

#

But anticheat is complex

unborn spruce
#

Some anticheat is remarkably simple and easy.

ebon osprey
#

Anticheat that doesn't work is easy sure

unborn spruce
#

So except for when it does work? KEKW

ebon osprey
#

When does it work

#

Again tarkov does in fact have anticheat
it's just not good

#

Same for pubg

#

Same for cs2

#

when does it work?

unborn spruce
#

Ok so let's use the example of Smurf prevention because it's brain damaged.

#

In a game with an ELO system, you can check the average kills per player of an ELO, say 1200 ELO players get somewhere in the order of 7-16 kills per game. If you find someone scoring 45 every single game then you know they're in WAY lower of an ELO bracket then they should be, so they are therefore hacking or a smurf, you can be more sure of this by checking things like account age or hit accuracy.

#

That is very much not hard to do.

ebon osprey
#

if I can find a counterexample, would you admit you are wrong?

unborn spruce
#

My dude I'm not going to admit I'm wrong when you keep moving goals.

#

If you can actually have a debate where you don't move goalposts every 3 messages then maybe.

ebon osprey
#

Speak for yourself, I asked for an example

ebon osprey
#

If it's easy, an example should be similarly easy to provide

unborn spruce
#

There's the core logic you could use.

#

Depends how you want to implement it.

ebon osprey
#

so if I can find a flaw in that logic, in fact one that is pretty central for a smaller game, would you admit you were incorrect?

#

Again I'm fine with any human in the loop system

#

The problem is you can't leave it to computers alone

#

And for a human in the loop system you need recording which is also not trivial

unborn spruce
#

Having a flaw doesn't mean the entire logic doesn't work.

#

It means it's flawed, not inherently broken.

#

Guy talking about how Chess.com does anticheat.

ebon osprey
#

chess is less variable than even handwriting

#

And chess.coms anticheat is really not great either

unborn spruce
#

Oh no forgive me, Chess is just an NP Hard problem that you literally can't compute before the universe dies.

crystal juniper
#

I feel like this is why it's always talking in circles with carmonben. You bring up one topic, he finds the smallest negative or issue with it and automatically jumps to "therefore your entire topic is bad and wrong" despite the fact that something can be both correct and have negatives at the same time

ebon osprey
#

So you claim

crystal juniper
#

but do carry on, i will go back to spectating

unborn spruce
ebon osprey
#

But the core of the argument is its easy

#

And as of yet no example has been provided

unborn spruce
#

So you claim.

#

Yet all you do is move goalposts to avoid being wrong.

ebon osprey
#

What examples did I not sufficiently dismantle to your liking

unborn spruce
#

All of them. Anyway you're not worth debating with, it's a waste of breath.

ebon osprey
#

Name one

unborn spruce
#

All of them.

ebon osprey
#

Name 1

unborn spruce
#

Kek
Go through the entire list.

ebon osprey
#

streamers will play against "people" on chess.com who play exactly what stockfish recommends multiple times per stream

unborn spruce
#

Look since you can't argue better than ChatGPT I'll use Phind for this.

crystal juniper
#

an example of very easy logic detection is one parameter riot uses which is inputs per second to detect smurfs. If you click too fast in league of legends it ticks a box saying you might be a smurf

ebon osprey
unborn spruce
crystal juniper
unborn spruce
#

Using statistics to remove false flags.

ebon osprey
#

if league of legends doesn't have an issue of smurfing
first of all this is most certainly a moved goalpost
but second I'd be happy to admit I'm wrong

#

But my friends were complaining about smurfing when they played

#

Has it been fixed since 2020 was it?

unborn spruce
#

And you're still implying that it needs to be flawless to be anticheat. Human anticheat isn't even flawless so idk what your point ever was.

#

The original point was it needs to be:

  1. Anticheat
  2. Fully machine automated

You pushed the goalpost into it needing to be flawless or human involved which was never the topic. KEKW

ebon osprey
#

If a company with a trillion dollars is incapable of making a system that people are happy with
How could a company with 1/1000th the resources do it?

#

Wait nope 1/100000th

unborn spruce
#

Use basic logic to work out why that point is idiotic? Oh wait you've never written any code so you'd miss it.

ebon osprey
#

again ad homenim isn't proof you are wrong, just evidence

unborn spruce
#

Too many cooks in the kitchen, having more programmers doesn't make the anticheat more better.

#

Makes development harder.

crystal juniper
ebon osprey
#

yep

#

And I don't really want to go into smurfing

crystal juniper
#

again - you're bringing up counter points that don't disprove any arguments

ebon osprey
#

That's a different issue entirely

#

Smurfing can be fixed by making your tos OK with smurfing

unborn spruce
crystal juniper
#

you weren't unclear - you just didn't disprove anything

ebon osprey
#

We have a disagreement on some facts

crystal juniper
#

it's like saying "tomato sauce is red" and you come back with "tomato sauce kind of sucks in some cases"

ebon osprey
#

I have presented some facts that are counterexamples

crystal juniper
#

it doesn't disprove the fact that tomato sauce is red

ebon osprey
#

But again

#

if the anticheat is easy

crystal juniper
#

yeah and that would be a disingenious response because you know the intention of the argument

ebon osprey
#

Find one that people don't complain about

crystal juniper
#

anticheat being easy or hard doesn't disprove that certain basic programming things are easy

#

they are separate topics

unborn spruce
#

Wym? The logistics of tomato sauce is hard, therefore growing tomatos is not possible.

ebon osprey
#

I don't think anyone disputed that pattern matching is hard

#

Only that the patterns inside of games are simple not complex

#

And that part I pretty clearly dismantled every counterargument

#

And no this argument was about anticheat

#

I don't claim that all pattern matching is hard

crystal juniper
#

your idea of dismantling is bringing up a totally separate issue with the topic then patting yourself on the back saying you dismantled arguments

ebon osprey
#

Only pattern matching on the complexity of games

crystal juniper
#

man why did I get baited into replying to this nonsense, back to watching k dramas

crystal juniper
#

have fun dismantling.

ebon osprey
#

Like you don't have to be right if you don't want

#

And I'd love to learn when I'm wrong

#

The more I learn about when I'm wrong, the less wrong I will be in the future

ebon osprey
#

Like I know aeon specifically will refuse to at least think about the steelman, and I know it's hard to do, however please consider that I actually do work to steelman your position, and I keep trying to help you improve it

#

Finding a solution to the anticheat problem in a chat about games in a keyboard discord server would be pretty awesome!

i have the killswitch travel pack, so i use that

fading spade

Oohhhh ... The one that makes the Deck look like some sort of IED

slim token

yeah

fading spade
#

Especially if you mount a battery bank on the back :')

#

Wouldn't want to bring that through airport security

excuse me
why are the random cases in my inventory worth $200?

nope

Man people simp hard for Elon

still spire
#

Amazingly

#

Like a decade ago I kinda got it

#

Space and all that

severe compass
#

Same, he spent a lot of money on marketing himself as "Real life Tony Stark", but I feel like the facade has come totally undone in major part due to his Twitter account

static island
#

are you saying that iron man wouldnt be weird in social media

still spire
#

Oh for sure

#

I mean I was never a simp for him, but I remember reading about him forever ago and going "Neat, at least someone is still trying for space"

#

But it's completely unraveled over the years

unborn spruce
#

I remember the Hyperloop fiasco.

#

Truly the most braindead crowd was following that.

#

And this recent fuckup that spawned from it called Spinlaunch. So many Elon style scams it's funny.

severe compass
#

The "Hyperloop" was something Elon dragged out of a Sci-Fi book hoping to convince California to delay a High speed rail network, which he knew would've eaten into Tesla purchases.

slim token
#

the way it was advertised should have been a giveaway

Which is why it's extra embarrassing for California to have achieved nothing dogekek

no

or one of the two?

barren pewter
#

and with that, completed phantom liberty's main questline

#

...very solid DLC

#

DAMN

young crow
#

||just don't call the romance characters||

ebon osprey
barren pewter
#

I swear if Mr Hands is one of them

young crow
#

no, the main ones

barren pewter
#

I haven't actually...done any yet

#

I did just enough main story progression to start the DLC

#

xD

young crow
#

not worth doing it just for the dlc

#

just search on youtube for the dialogues

barren pewter
#

meh, I was planning on truly "replaying"

#

so those kinds of romance dialogues are to come anyway

young crow
#

||yeah just don't expect much, all you get is a dialogue in the very end||

#

||if that wasn't apparent by the fact there were no related choices in the main questline||

novel umbra
#

of course they are gonna be quick as fuck

barren pewter
#

pretty much none of it meshed

#

not surprising though

#

it's hard to integrate DLC flawlessly into a game

unborn spruce
#

One thing I love about it is that everyone says Elon invented it. Mofucker no, the vacuum train has existed for like 120 years or something.

barren pewter
#

I swear there was some kind of british steam train that did it first

#

but the seals were shit and it was kinda useless

#

cool party trick for the couple days it was usable though

novel umbra
unborn spruce
#

Yep.

severe compass
#

So he not only dragged it out of a Sci-fi book, but a woefully out of date one too

unborn spruce
#

Yes exactly.

nimble current
#

its almost like the dude's always been a hack

#

but managed to make some sound business decisions a decade ago that landed him where he is now

#

where he can live out his days of his dream life as an edgy online troll

ebon osprey
#

i mean to be fair he does also throw an incredible amount of money into space, and it really seems like that could make serious money

#

dude excels at making minor improvements to existing tech, and making it scale better to end up with pretty huge improvements at scale

severe compass
#

Given how many times he's spouted crap, I believe he's simply good at taking credit away from his engineering team

ebon osprey
#

i mean abusing employees into working harder is still "making it scale better"

#

alledgedly 😉

severe compass
#

SpaceX seems to be a "broken clock is right twice a day" moment. But I think he actually believes he's gonna be king of a new Mars civilisation within the decade

ebon osprey
#

does he believe or does he "believe"
you can have a belief as a target that you wont reach
and the more people roast you for not reaching it, the more incentive there is to actually do the thing

#

to be clear i understand that would still be fraud for a public company, but laws work slowly

Yay, CS2 is dropping Mac support

I feel like legacy Mac purchasers have a good case for a lawsuit.

All...four of them

feral ferry
#

Well they are issuing a conditional refund

novel umbra
#

macOS users are eligible for a refund if most of their CS:GO playtime was on macOS and they played CS:GO on a Mac between the announcement of the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test (March 22, 2023) and the launch of Counter-Strike 2 (September 27, 2023), regardless of when they purchased their Prime Status Upgrade.

aka

any active macos player

That refund isn't quite satisfactory under EU law at least.

#

They changed an existing product in such a fundamental way that it isn't functional anymore.
