Ok, tell me this then:
- Sharding as you call it can split a singular place, dungeon, zone into many copies that exist. This way 1000s of players can kill the exact same mob in the same X,Y coordinate but on different shard.
- True Open world mmorpg only has 1 copy of a zone. One singular mob can only be slain and no additional copies of that zone can be loaded.
This is the difference between sharding and zones
