Started with Skyrim, and liked it, but since I got the X360 version I grew bored of the combat after completing all the quests and exploring the map, it was the first real open world game I played. I found Fallout 4 to be rather disappointing, after seeing what F3 and NV had to offer. My presumption was that the games would evolve, but instead if really did feel like it shifted backwards narratively. The dialogue options were so lacklustre, then F76 came out and we all saw it
It all gets worse to me when you start factoring in that many other games have come out either advancing open world, graphical, and combat mechanics whilst Bethesda really has felt like they fell behind on all sides.

Uh, as far as my experience was concerned it still had load screens
Between specific areas
You can remove load screens in previous games where they originally were by copy pasting the external cells into the world space
But that taxes your hardware a lot more
