Thought it'd be fun to shoot up the entire town

Fun got killed by the absolute travesty that is their wanted mechanic

Carbon copy of the GTA V one, shit just spawns out of the middle nowhere

I kinda love how it's so easy to see how shoddy the coding is as well

If you hide, the game makes cops "forget" where you are, so they fuck off, and then instantly it alerts them to your location, so they try to get to you anyways

And it just repeats, forever

It was the most boring "wanted" mechanic I have ever seen since Cyberpunk 2077

hmm I kinda just immersed myself in the character of arthur, he wouldn't shoot up a town for no reason so I don't remember anything weird going on with the wanted mechanism

It just works in a really stupid way

It spawns cops a considerable distance away, and then they converge on the location where you were when they spawned

When they reach that waypoint, the game updates on your current location so they go there

EVEN IF you are hiding somewhere

Essentially they always know where you are, the game just gives them some "leniency" and allows them to wander for a bit, before updating your location again and they just converge on that waypoint

It's like 1990s of coding mechanic

For GTA VI I hope they make the cop mechanic a lot better

GTA V I think uses the same exact cop mechanic ever since GTA San Andreas

At least as far as spawning is coded, take a jet, get 5 stars (or I guess 6 in SA) and just fly into the sea

You can clearly see that in all GTA games the game just spawns jetties and helicopters in the middle of the damn ocean

I mean there is a balance you have to strike between realistic/good ai and something that feels good

if you can cheese any chase by going over water it gets really boring really fast etc.
