Personally switched from a hd6xx to a hifiman he400se, biggest benefit for me was comfort, just could not get the 6xx to be long term comfortable.
Also the difference in base rolloff is quite noticable
Especially if due to bad comfort I was forced to have a bad seal / low clamping force
At some point went for thicker pads and tried to compensate in eq but it just wasn't good enough.

How deep the cups are matters a lot and that was a big fail for me on the 6xx, He 400SE's are not perfect in terms of comfort but still a lot better.

Within 6 months the seller has to proof it's user error, after that until an age you could reasonably expect the device to work it's the other way around.
A colleague recently got warranty denied on a chromebook with a broken screen, according to her no physical damage but still got denied after 7 months, had to pay € 70 if she wanted a broken laptop back or pay more than it was worth in repairs.
So things definitely are not perfect here.
She does not seem to be the type to lie about it and her case seemed reasonable.
