I can either play with friends, spend an hour or two taking down a particularly difficult fort, get the riches. Only to have xXChuckleFuck69420YourMomXx roll in halfway back to the NPCs to turn in our hard earned rewards, while they're spamming all manner of bad language and spending 2-3 minutes ruining an hour of otherwise very enjoyable content.
Want to make PIRACY fun? Give players actual escort content. Ship thing from A to B. Expect to get attacked.
Or flip the coin - Have players join either side.
