I really hope this device fails on a personal level.
For me the Steam Deck gave a good opening for Linux gaming, other handhelds using Windows Counteracts that.
I hope Valve will open Steam OS well for OEM's and will continue to offer the better user experience, as really that is exactly what Linux gaming needs.
Hopefully we reach the point that anti-cheats will no longer be implemented in a way that blocks Linux

As far as I know it's not that easy for an oem in general.
Important things may not work / are not easily implemented.
As the sauce that makes it work is the steam client, with changing refresh rates / clock pinning and so forth. You want to be running mainline steam regardless and oems want their own tweaks.
So there is that.
Drivers generally not a problem as long as the components used are not too exotic

In general though higher vram requirements are not surprising once console exclusives started hitting.
Console games generally use more vram than ram and that already pushes it over 8gb at console resolutions.
Add to that higher ray tracing / general settings and it will baloon.
21gb is a bit much though.
