XIM did that, but iver time they've added new functions. Special macros that for example cancel out recoil entirely making your weapon a laserbeam in addition to the aim assist from pretending to be a controller. It also allows full auto which isn't an issue on D2 nowadays thanks to the new option but for other games it can still cause problems.

asio is only really used with pro audio/recording interfaces

I got an old 2015 asus rog laptop with a 980m in it here and the thing its a 5kg boat anchor of a thing
did quite a lot of travelling at the time and wanted something to game on
but yeah its more of a luggable desktop than a laptop in terms of user experience

I managed to soak it with beer at one point which killed the keyboard/trackpad so I have to use usb keyboard and mouse with mine too
the kb/trackpad sucked ass on it anyways
credits to asus for actually making the kb/trackpad module insulated from the actual guts of the computer though

Microsoft wanted Infinite to be a massive live service game, larger then all others. However they seemingly refused to pay for the resources needed.
343 leadership finally had some good story ideas, but then had to deal with pulling those ideas into a live service model, and then had to release the game on PC plus 4 Xbox SKUs. Then you add on the massive engine work needed to make the game function as an open world. This all comes to a head when 343 NEEDs more employees in order to develop the engine, but can only hire contractors, and a global shutdown due to a pandemic makes it a chore to coordinate them.
This probably results in a lot of finger pointing at MS, and most of the fingers being pointed to 343. 343 Leadership probably felt kneecapped trying to make such a massive game on a budget. So the leadership just gets sick of it and leaves.

The contractors working on the engine eventually had to leave when their shot term contract expired. Due to the contract being short term most of the contractor's time was spent learning the engine, with only the last stretch being used to actually develop it.
I don't recall if the contractor's left because they were sick of it, or if MS never offered to renew it due to new blood being cheaper (on bean counter paper at least), or there being a law that contractors after a certain time period needed to become full time employees which MS was avoiding.
