denuvo is pretty much environment dependant , isnt it
how does denuvo relate to needing a MS account
yes I'm talking about it forcing the MS account, which is a drm but not one that cares about the environment so it being on the deck doesnt change anything
then why cant you use a microsoft account if you run MInecraft Bedrock on Linux if it only cares about having an online account or not
also they are not the people who make windows
what?
xbox publishes it and some british team makes it
oh, the playground crowd
likely nobody on the dev team ever touched anything about windows
well, DX12
I also doubt they were part of the crew that makes DX versions lol
designed for windows by the people who make windows
I was referring to this
ahh
Yeah. Like logging into a google account on firefox instead of chrome. It works that way.
You are prompt with a log in. You provide credentials. And thats that.
I still have to play moon crash
I’ve heard it’s a better version of deathloop
Well yeah it does share elements from jt
I think it was also their experiment before making deathloop
Whereas deathloop has like one solution, moon crash has many
So in a weird way deathloop doesn’t really have any replay ability
Is that a prey spin off
Dlc
Ahh
You can also put hats on them
They’re basically immersive sims themselves
Never tried em personally but I seen people play them
They do look good
Very player choice dependent
Every mission has like a handful of ways to kill your target
If they do vary
Yeah
Would keep good interest
You can change his load out per mission
Ah okay
Interesting
There’s a lot of meta progression that helps with replaying levels
And getting new achievements
Minx always goes hard af with her video thumbnails
Krinx"
But it’s very immersive sim in the way of like key NPCs will reveal Intel that lets you sneak in somehow and gives you more opportunities to kill your target
Interesting
The game will tell you when you’ve overheard these kinda of Intel but you can disable the pop ups
Like in the first mission of Hitman 2016 a security guard misidentifies you as a certain NPC so you can put 2 and 2 together, find this other NPC, disguise yourself as him, and meet your target privately as the other NPC
Though I wonder what about the rest of game
Or
Interesting
Now that you know this NPC is meeting your target, maybe you can plant a bomb on the NPC or ambush them while they’re alone
It’s really open ended in terms of how you deal with your target
I mean sort of
There’s a variety of locations
But it’s basically an immersive sim murder sandbox
Oh sandbox okay
Of course the most coveted achievement is usually the silent assassin + suit only
That helps quite a lot
Silent assassin meaning you’re never spotted, no bodies found, no evidence left behind, only target killed, and suit only meaning you never changed from your suit
So that’s like the full stealth thing
As you complete more challenges you gain mastery rank of the level. And every mastery rank unlocks new things like starting locations/disguises; item pickups; starting weapons/gear
Item pickups basically let you smuggle in extra items and large guns you can’t smuggle in on yourself
Btw do you guys recommend gamepass on pc?
It's 99p for trial
≠ free
Just did the Xbox live gold exploit and got 3 years of game pass ultimate for about $72
So what
It is a steal
Even probably at $10
Could spend $120 for two preorders or get to play a bunch of games
Yes technically not owned with subscription model but tons people trade in old games anyway
Only game I’m probably gonna buy full price is God of war ragnarok
To be fair lots of crap out there now
So fair enough
I probably would have not preordered halo had I known the campaign would have been such a wash
Cough cough, ||saints row||
So we made a book about Steam Deck! In preparation for Steam Deck launching in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, we wanted to introduce our new customers to Valve, Steam, and Steam Deck. So we made a small book – it’s about 50 pages, and we’ve translated it into Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and English.
Fuck yeh
Steam Deck 2 is basically confirmed
And even more possibly
Did anyone have doubts on valve making future steamdecks? It has a big market and AMD APUs are just getting stronger and stronger which means more 60fps capable games.
We know that there will be a steam deck 2 and we also know there will not be a steam deck 3 xD
given they already previously talked about things they will do different in a future version, no not really any doubts
yes but this is Valve
they drop projects and move on
THis seems to be the exception <3
which means this paper means as much as them saying it earlier so still same chance of them dropping it
They just can't count to 3 that's what we know, they will stop at 2 and maybe do a 2.5
xd
If the deck had an OLED screen I would have picked one up but I can't go back to LCD on things like this sadly.
Maybe deck 2 will have this option and that will appeal to me
considering most people bought the 512GB Deck, means they might increase the base price a little more
but that was back when the preorders started and we didnt have tests to show that SD cards are almost just as fast to load games from
so maybe that skewed it a bit
Depends on the game I guess though, as the deck is limited anyway it's not going to make waves of improvements as it's got bottlenecks in other areas than storage
price will go up because costs will go up and the stronger chips will cost more
yep
This game is one of the soulless releases I've seen in a while and If Volition wants to blame the fans for not supporting the brand than they should look into what they developed and ask if it's worth even a few dollars. Thanks for watching!

Oh
characters:: Robbing bank
also characters:: HOW TF WE GOING TO PAY RENT AND STUDENT LOANS????

a company makes a better model of their highly successful device? no fucking way
Im pretty sure with these what it is is they reteanslate to different languages and back into English several times. Usually.
I like SteamDB calculator
tells me how much of my life I wasted playing games
since 2019
that’s not a lot

Hhhhmmm
what is the missing platform?
Chrome OS probably
thats never going to be on the list
letseee... my platform hours :
15 thousand hours sounds about right but I don't know how you get there with only 3 thousand and 170 lol
oh its only been counting the platform hours since 2019
eeeeeeey i'm old
Valve and Steam is officially half my life

I swear if I didn't have the originals on Xbox, I'd grab them immediately.
I really enjoyed the first one, don't recall playing the second one though. It reminded me of stubs the zombie, that was another classic from that time.
which within the USA we are legally allowed to do this so them doing this is probably illegal by robbing us our rights to make backups
if this stops us from doing that*
Being allowed to make "backups" and "playing them back on other devices" are not the same.
Also - Nintendo lawyers 😄
Nintendo do not care if you are legally ok to do that, they will stop you anyway
They have taken down plenty off legally sound videos .-.
Fuck Nintendo.
They are just as scummy if not more than EA.
They also happen to make solid games.
nintendo lawyers don't mean anything 😛 they often act and operate with japanese laws
@orchid prism also yes we are allowed to play our own backups and copies on other devices. This was already argued and defended in court, such as the case with VHS players and such as those are playback devices and such.
it's distribution* that can be illegal.
Also yes. nintendo Lawyers have illegally bullied people who did not push back, and cannot push back, removing them their rights to various things such as parody, fair use, and fan art works.
illegally within the USA*
This will change once we have Small Claims Court for copyright/fair use
Good luck with that.
cause then us normal people can pay 100-200 dollars and force nintendo to pay thousands of dollars in lawyers fees to STFU
not sure what you mean as luck is not needed. its already a set and done thing.
Uh huh...
its been so for literal decades.
Denuvo hasn't been around for that long. Again - Good luck with that.
lol this goes beyond and further than denuvo. they don't trump laws.
so, again : no luck needed.
And again - Good luck getting Nintendo to remove Denuvo from your games, so you can emulate them.
Genuinely.
eh, wont really need to. Denuvo is trash.
people will find a way to remove it or if someone with enouh dosh : take them to court for it.
when has Denuvo ever been an issue in circumventing?
Since always - Only some games get cracked and often after half a year or more...on a platform where there's actually a large interest.
and some games get cracked in less than a day.
Depends on which team is doing the cracking, and if they, like. Gotten arrested or disbanded in that time frame. But aye, sometimes it takes some time. Switch is a large platform of interest, same emulated. I genuinely don't think there's going to be much issues.
Anti-piracy always gets defeated unless its some pure always online thing but those kind of games aren't geared for backups or pirating anyways.
until private servers*
like. it just doesn't work and it harms the normal consumer, as is shown : making backups.
no one wants to rebuy 60 dollar games
btw am ignoring gifs, that's not a conversation or anything
it's also rather rude too. I'm trying to actually talk and such but, like. Idunno it's like someone shoving crap in their face or mouth and smacking instead of actually saying words.
drm that stops emulation would not infringe on being able to make backups, you can use them on the switch again then, if they brick emulators thats not breaking the backup or its intended usecase
Neither is screaming into the void that you have a legal right to make backups of your games and that Denuvo has no legal right to prevent you from doing so (and so on and so on)
Go ahead and grab a lawyer - Beating your chest isn't going to change anything 😄
I never said I was going to go and do that.
Exactly - You weren't going to do shit all. 😄
Maybe if thats what Mansen ever once said but that wasn't in any of their point in the matter.
and? so? does that change that I have rights?
Yes - Your rights are worth shit all if you can't enforce them.
thats not how laws and rights work Mansen.
That is EXACTLY how laws work.
by that logic disabled people don't have rights
They don't - Unless someone actually stands up for those rights in practice.
(Feel free to stop tagging me at any point)
we live ina society where people can fight rights for others that they all equally share.
yeah but until someone does exactly that a law doesnt meant shit
and if its not super clear its harder to find someone who wants to try it in court
aye but, still, they have the right even if they don't actively use it at that moment or if another at a later point has to do it for them.
And, yes, at the end of the day Laws and Rules are enforced by force. But those that project the force, the nation, is the one that gives us these rights and we have them until it is taken away.
nobody said they are being taken away just that it doesnt mean anything if they not enforced
the duck was making it sound like they aren't there at all but that could be me misreading them. but, I disagree. They still mean something even if not enforced now. They can enforced in the future and damage penalties multiplied.
yeah so they meant something once its enforced, not if its not enforced xD
but yeah. Prevention software for emulators would be different than anti-backup measures so probably no legality issues there.
No I'm just pointing out that no amount of screaming is going to stop Denuvo from being in your games, unless you successfully sue Nintendo.
"muh rights" only works if you actually have enforcement.
Sure but no ones screaming.
Uh huh... could have fooled me 😄
Saying you have rights or pointing them out isn't screaming
Im just trying to stay factual here. Not rally some cause or something
Im not even using caplocks lol
And thats probably where this problem stemmed from : thinking i was screaming or yelling or putting up some fuss
But like, there isnt to indicate that lol
Other than annoyance at images thrown around earlier.
But thats all there was.
All I see when I scroll back up is you repeatedly mentioning your so called rights, and no way of actually enforcing them in any meaningful way. If that doesn't come off as screaming into the void I don't know what.
But I don't really care either way. For arguments sake 😄
thief
then thats a fault that you just want to interpret anyone pointing out facts is just.... screaming. Which I guess you need to look at a mirror and do some self reflection or something.
I liked it
there's like 4 of them
@willow quiver well besides the Thief Series, there is Dark Messiah Might and Magic
the most modern one, idk about the olders
it's a great PC classic for mid 00s
was probably the best looking source engine game too for its time
is really good
it even has
FOOT!
good kickin power
and being source : can have fun with mods or console commands.
like make everything slow mo or what have you.
Don't expect elders crolls open world
but the levels are still fun
yeah sleep deprivation does messy things to your brain. def don't do that. Don't be dummy like me and do that a ton at an early age and mess up your head @willow quiver
i love this
I call this a joke
But frankly after losing the FIFA license EA will be less than relevant
its already called out as fake
how would EA lose FIFA license?
Lmao
Good riddence. Now they'll have to make a.. idunno... FAFA(tm) and crap put more loot boxes in the shape of soccer
EA didn't lose FIFA as much as they didn't want to pay hundrede of millions in licensing fees a year for it.
They paid a billion, BILLION dollars every four years.
Will another scourge on european children finally be eradicated?
Probably not
They just call it something else an maybe someone else makes a fifa game with the name or not
One can dream
can anybody suggest me a good mouse pad, my dpi x in game sens is 840 and mostly play apex legends
and the mouse is logitech g pro superlight
EA may have paid a billion for it but it was their biggest income and lootbox income
Oh hey its like that thing everyone said was bad could happen happens :V. Kernal level anti cheat... should be illegal. Like legit rootkitting vulnerabilities.
and valve games had known unpatched RCE's for long time, you'll always have things that are made unsafe and will be abused
Tbf
How would one even enter the system
Like you'd have to distribute the ransomware somehow
dark souls 1 2 and 3 had RCE issues that were only known a couple months ago and forced them to take all pvp server offline
Big oof
Those were opt-in though.
Can't really opt out of Valorant's anti-cheat and still play the game.
I mean the opt in was you playing the game while being connected to the server lol
invading pvp counted too iirc
Exactly - You could opt out of that and still play the game safely.
not really opt in if default is doing nothing xD
Ehh.... pedantry. There's an element of OPT'ing whether in or out 😄
either way, was just an example, csgo was not opt in
Can't really avoid those on-bootup kernel level anti cheats. So the danger is a lot more pronounced and widespread 😄
CSGO doesn't have kernel level though?
no but just like dark souls RCE which can do almost the same
Fair.
Wasn't this confirmed fake
That EA sucks? No
Amazon is not going to make a bid for Electronic Arts, sources tell CNBC's @DavidFaber. Shares of $EA surged earlier on a report citing a "rumor."

Pump n dump
They always love emphasizing the size of things
4 times the size, 16 times the detail
32 times the bugs
Twice as many mountains you can climb!
I beg your pardon
You can climb those mountains
Just mount a horse and go vertical climbing
4 times the size and half the npcs to stay in memory budget
And at LEAST five voice actors.

Twice the shite
I wish open world games went back to the idea bigger is not better
"bigger than ever game world" 98% of it is empty terrain walking simulator
Well empty terrain makes sense
The problem was at least with skyrim is that they forcefully populated the map with copy-paste dungeons
It does make sense that starfield has a larger map than the elder scrolls.
Still for the later I think 16km² or roughly the size of Morrowind / Kingdom Come Deliverance is about right
No man's sky did an interesting thing
Watchdogs legion did it meh
And the game got trashed not too long after
When going the no man's sky route you need to completely rethink the game you are making
Either way map size should not be something to boast about
Depends
I feel like BioShock Infinite is a little ahead of its time
i.e. the set time
yea you can travel back and forth between- oh wait nvm
I like the concept and graphics ngl
It'd be more fun watching Queen Elizabeth play the game herself
:(
@ashen lark
All PlayStation editions will come with the Exclusive Quest; no Pre-Order is required to obtain it. More information around Sony exclusives is coming soon. (4/8)
1278
Yeah it’s unfortunate but the quest doesn’t seem to be too important
It's also prolly a crossover quest
Also not nice there is one “microtransactions” but no other buyable items is great
I think I heard somewhere it’s sth with felix felicis
There really are no microtransactions
Well dark arts pack
PreOrder bonus is as MTX as it gets
And you will be able to buy it a bit later if you didn’t preorder
Preorder to get the Onyx Hippogriff Mount.
Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action RPG. Now you can take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world.
It is with the editions
I mean, eh
I don't mind it
As long as there are no shops and premium currency
So far the game's looking okay
Cut content is cut content
Well it sucks but if everything else is good I’ll survive it
Anyways I really hope I can get a GPU in February for that game
Cut content doesn't matter if it's something you don't care for
And I don't care for it
To score with your mom?
Exclusivity? Way to insult lol
Imagine using dark arts couldn’t be me
Your mom actually wanted to score with me but I am above that
That's what you want to think
That is disgusting emoji

Well go mald the copium in the corner I guess
lmao nice reverse Vexx
That’s what she did
This is what your mom told you
How about instead of intruding into a conversation with you textbook lines, you go back to irrelevancy where you belong and disappear for a day
Lol empress strikes again, Dying Light 2 crackfix
Adds support for Intel 1st gen CPUs, Windows 7, etc
better late than never
Smart
I like how we need to rely on a game cracker
To make the game playable on certain hardware
And to make it run well as well.
Almost like the devs can't do it
Better to just use kernel anticheat, pretty sure windows got something of that sort maybe with 11

Screw Win11
Yeah it looks ugly
Implying other versions of windows aren't bloated
Microsoft, go suck on a 🥒
I liked Windows 8/8.1
just like with win10 you can use 11 without internet and without an account...
Not really what I said lad
You HAVE to use online while installing Windows
Pretty sure that's a hard requirement
its not
Pretty sure you can do it offline so long as you make a call
yes if you want to activate a license key obviously you need internet, how else is it supposed to check if the license is valid
Windows 11 22H2 apparently removes the option to set up the device with a local account even when your installation edition is Windows 11 Pro. Previously, the change made for Windows 11 Home users removed the option to use a local account, forcing users to set up their device with a Microsoft account. Starting with …
Ah this
You are forced to use an account, which requires internet
"In Build 22616, Windows 10 Pro installations are forcing the setup of a Microsoft account and users must have an active internet connection during the installation process."
Huh, this is also in Windows 10 now?
You mean 11
yes the point is pro allowed it without workarounds
so if pro doesnt do that anymore it just means you need the same workarounds for pro now
no
Alternatively: don't use Windows
at least not in this part
theres always react OS
yes but the point you made was wrong
@hollow sphinx Ah yes, the OS which is still in development after 15 years and is still as buggy (if I recall correctly)
How about we don't use Linux
And instead try to be vocally against Microsoft so they fix their shit
you're dreaming too hard here
Yeah I know conglomerates don't listen
How about we just use Android on pcs
Problemo solvo
To be fair though, it's not a bad shout
Rooted android or nothing
Probably would be
I think some emulators do it out the box already even
terrorizer
T3 back at it after a year

Except they do?
The EU has sued both Microsoft and Apple over anti consumer shit time and time again.

Thank you Deep Rock Galactic, very cool.

Oh jeez
VM Protect is done for
And that's a pretty respectable DRM (when it comes to protecting stuff)
It's still shit and bloat
drm
is that the ubisoft shite
VMProtect?
I don't think that's Ubisoft?
Ubisoft prolly uses it
I think EA maybe also uses it
Von Bon
You forget one thing
Some of these companies chain DRMs
I know that there were AAA titles that had Denuvo + VMProtect + one another one
twitter truly always has the best summaries of every new FF patch
@orchid prism https://twitter.com/tabletorgy/status/1563826204595355649
I'm glad FFXIV let us now finally fight the true villains: italians
962
133

The Garleans are based on the Roman Empire. Also they're referring to 6.2 villains having Italian names.
Oh... Silly Japanese don't know europe
oh its just about the name of the trial and dungeon boss
if you played FF4 you know the names
Anyone try the Switch pro Controller on their Steam Deck?
How do games deal with A and B being swapped around and X and Y
hi there, PC user who has attempted such a thing, because steam deck is a PC, grow the f*ck up
Steam's controller setting has a built in remapper for switch pro
that can be optionally toggled
👍
last time I used the pro controller on my PC, steam wanted me to choose between xbox or nintendo mode for the buttons
it was odd
that's what it means
the orientation of the ABXY buttons, either to industry standards, or nintendo's config
so that your muscle memory can apply either way
:P
The Steam settings are also the only reason I know that the pro controller has an LED ring around the right thumbstick
TBH, I find that the Nintendo layout makes more sense
where A and B are
A is the right most button to go forward, B is back mostly
I hate it because then I open up my pipboy instead of jumping
but steam ftw, we got a setting to fix that

wait no, the LED ring is around the home button
ooooo, group SD cards by game genre, not a bad idea
hi everyone! can u please tell me, if i choose is wootility controller mode, will it give me full controller mode in apex legends, i mean aim assist and other things
Alright please go to #archived_questions_answers
oo...
damn didnt think this many would want to watch worlds first race for the raids
Really?
Seems to be a common trend.
D2 was pulling like 60k+ for it
And that's not as popular
yeah but there most people care about raids
Hmm I guess
also its like 3-6am in america where most viewers are lmfao
you can craft FOR them and make lots of money from that
huh no you can just sell them for people who raid is what I mean
crafting gear is best in slot on release, food and potions are needed
I can't in good conscience approve of mods where you gut the PCB and cut it u ti pieces
Just ... Build a damn mister at that point
wasnt the handheld ps2 just the original pcbs uncut
The one above is not uncut.
I never really got used to my steam controller, it seemed like a great idea but just didn't click for me.
Prefer the Xbox controller but wish the thumbsticks were more durable!
why are we posting random yt comments?
not sure, ive been wanting a Steam Controller though, it would be nice to have the touchpads and gryo the Deck has when using it docked...probably can make use of the gyro in the switch pro controller, maybe
idk the steam controller was prolly one of valves less successful ventures just guessing tho
replicate whats on the steam deck and youve got an awesome controller
The Steam Deck controls are basically a second gen Steam Controller xd but built into a handheld
Yes just shrink it down and reintroduce the dual stage triggers volvo pls
if i can play FTL on it, its fine for mouse
Volvo
its a meme
TIL the auto-generated captions on youtube think Genshin Impact is Gention Impass
til
Huh
FMPone, the probably most decorated mapper of all time when it comes to CS
Has access to Source 2 Hammer
Doesn't make CS:GO Source 2 a thing, might be some kind of HL:Alyx dev tools
Just the coincidences are weird
Oh apparently this is S&box editor which is based on source 2
Yeah, it has been publicly available for years as part of Dota 2 and SteamVR
@ashen lark
So uh
War Thunder is introducing drones
Or UAVs, if you prefer
That's.. weird
Playable ones or as NPCs?

Not very unmanned now, is it
People are not happy
Scout drones are fine, they are real part of modern warfare
CAS drones, or attack drones, literally everybody is against
Planes already make tank gameplay dreadful
Drones are just tiny planes
but like.
what vehicles do they have thats modernized enough for there to be drones?
In that game?
like I knwo they have the early abrams and others
Type 10 is new enough
what year is that again?
Type 10?
yeah
holy shit I didn't know War Thunder came out with post 2000 vehicles
I don't know the year for that
2007
I legit thought they kept it 80s maybe early 90s max.
wew
nice
That's like, 2019?
Oh, sorry Challenger Black Night
Black Night's literally a demonstrator vehicle
2019 prototype
So it's brand new, 3 year old tank
Literally a new tonki
They are going super modern
please just don’t fuck it up like mafia 3
The grind super sucks but the game used to be genuinely fun. but it's a mater of knowing which tech tree to go down for non-shitty vehicles to actually have vehicles to have fun as oppose to vehicles that you actually want to play.
for how much longer are they gonna milk ac?
For instance the french starts out as the worst ever. like. unplayable. But if you survive that hell : you become unkillable monster with the next vehicle LOL
SUBSCRIBE to Catch all the Theories! ► https://goo.gl/kQWHkJ
Theorists, would you ever work in a mortuary? That is EXACTLY what happens in the aptly titled horror game, The Mortuary Assistant. Well, that and trying to stave off demon possession. You know, the usual. Today, Austin is going to explain how a demon may be LESS of a threat to you t...
yep....
I knew that place was an OSHA violation nightmare
I always wonder why bethesda dropped the ball with DLC in fallout 3
OA is so easy to do as soon as you leave the vault and provides really solid equipment for the mid to late game
I mean... OA gives you the best power armour in the game AND power armour training, which is locked till power armoured enemies are the main things you'll be fighting during questing and as such, suits are plentiful

Operation Anchorage?
I've only done one quest passed Escape! and that's The Power of the Atom so I have a place to dump my shit
at level...3
It sheds light on the american - chinese war
Lore wise it's a treasure trove
As a gameplay thing.. eh
I'm not knocking the DLC, I'm knocking the easy access to a suit of T51b
you know, the armour you'd normally scour the waste for 3 keys to unlock?
Lukewarm take : Bethesda never picked up the ball as far as DLC goes.
"Expansions" are always off-map new areas with no interest in improving the base game experience whatsoever.
Infamous origin of the paid DLC microtransaction.
eh
agree, apart from Broken Steel
Broken Steel expanded the Brotherhood v Enclave war
main story expansion
I was more interested in the China v America thing
FO3 in general for some reason was not difficult of a game at all
just turn on the news
Eh... I guess. I would argue they sold a patch to a lacking basegame plot and experience as DLC 😄

In FO3 you can do some ridiculous shit
yep
Like beating enclave power armour soldiers to death with a shovel
xuanlong AR easily carried me through to level 30
especially since ammo is so plentiful and chinese ARs to repair it with are so...common past level 15 or so
I even did the stupid discount thing for Pronto in Paradise Falls where you give him 20 chinese ARs in any condition for a discount and better inventory
why an AR you can easily get in the early game is that solid and reliable into the late game is beyond me
Doge, FNV wasn't any better
Scaling in these games was always their weakest part
.308 ammo should never be so plentiful
Wait is dead money the one with the annoying guy in rags?
AHH
The grand opening of sierra madre casino, I think that's what it was called
That DLC
yes
I really didn't like it, for some reason they went full spooky scary ghosts
I thought it was refreshing and fun
having enemies that will just come back up unless you full on dismember them
I do it really low level, so a knife spear and police pistol are usually enough to get me through
anyway
back to OA
I mean the lore is pretty good for them
Here's the story of how hundreds of thousands of FAKE Pokémon toys were almost snuck in the United States. Unfortunately for the culprits, the counterfeit toys were caught at US Customs. Here's how one of the strangest smuggling scandals in Nintendo history went down!

Illegal Pokemon toys: Gotta catch them all!
Steal*

Hold up
We should be happy there are no deviant or furry perks in fallout
Cause that window would be mad
Inb4 starfield is just furries
ya'll aren't making any sense
also cannibalism is pretty deviant and has been a traditional trait.
Hell there was a perk icon planned that was kicking a pregnant woman. That they cut out at some point in development.
Fallout is literally all about being in a world that gone all fucky with society broken or trying to be rebuilt or humanity just straight up gone that requires re-learning, re-teaching- and passing along what morality you can for those that'd give a darn. And taking out those that don't.
All the while discovering the past society and people were as fucked up if not worse in some regards.
You got your plenty of raider gangs for sure. Got your cults and super mutants and android dopplegangers.
But you don't have whole countries and nations fighting anymore : they already did it and are dead. Now fights are small scale.
You don't have corrupted corporations screwing people over : they all dead and whats left is their corpses and their consequences.
Fallout is all about deviancy. Maybe not in 4 where they railroad your character and your choices don't matter.
I think the funniest shit is that the karma hit from eating the baby is more than rectified by wiping every Pitt Raider...because they all turn hostile
free loot
free rad immunity? yes pls
also that's a mod, base game never had that option
you need evil karma (and the cannibal perk) to get the option to feed upon that succulent tender meat
and when I left The Pitt, I had neutral karma
I got all that evil karma by feasting upon the corpses of those idiot outcasts who decided to get between me and all the loot they wanted me to get for them
Bro every fallout game is about factions at war with each other
Yeah but instead of countries actively creating shit like tanks, power armor, nuclear weapons, firearms, etc... It's just the sad remnants of humanity bundled into factions that fight each other over scraps of what's left.
Enclave and brotherhood can make power armor and vertibrids
Ncr has armed trains
Most factions can make guns and bombs.
Karma was such a dumb design.
You'd get bad karma from looting dead people's belongings as though some godly being looked over you and whispered to everyone what you did.
And characters clearly considered evil by the broad community would still punish you.
Depending on what you coint as canon after bethesda voight the IP and changed everything*
But even with the Brotherhood and Enclave and oddmen like House : the size of the conflicts is smaller compared to many years of all of the world at war.
In 3 enclave can build PA and vertibrids.
Aye
Though the enclave is suppose to be on the west coast iirc.
In one of the newer pnes they suddenly end up on the eaat side
Again it depends on what you count as canon. Not many like the changes that bethesda did.

A Portal parody ...
gosh damn this game is small
Wait till you look at older games in the KB
Half-Life is the granddaddy to every modern fps
Eeeeeeeehhhh no?
Its based off quake and shares plenty similarities
Which was a fully 3D fps game.
But Half Life was newer and did some things much better
Like. The big influencers is Doom and that covers your early 90s with fake-3d shooters, boomer shooters.
But then years later you get to quake for your full 3D
And then you get games like Half Life and Serious Sam
Where they expand upon it the same formula but slightly different
But you dont really get that modern FPS u til you get to Medal Of Honor
Which is where you get your iron sights
Your blood vision health
And all of that
How do I make the TV not cut off edges over HDMI?
Of course in the mix and in betweens you have successful but "awkward" shooters like Golden Eyes and its refined sister game : Perfect Dark as well as the Turok Series.
that a CRT?
You'll need to go into your GPUs control panel and shrink the output.
Or see if the TV has a similar shrink option.
Go through its settings menus or various buttons on remote until you find the one that adjusts how the picture is (4:3, 16:9, etc..) and cycle through them until you find one that doesn't have overscan garbage
No
I'm on switch
But this happens on ANYTHING connected via HDMI on this TV
ah
yeah your TV will have a range of supported Resolutions and your Switch will have a range fo supported resolutions.
whats your TV's model? does it support what the switch is outputting?
Either your TV has an option like NHG explains above. If it doesn't you're SOL.
Only if you can't fix it on the TV end should you adjust on the computor
is your switch set to 480, 720, or 1080?
This TV is 1280x768 resolution
set your switch to 720
The same thing happened on my Xbox 360 back in the day
it might have auto-switched to 1080
How?
go to the settings in your Switches menu
there should be an option under Display or TV Settings
it's probabyl set to "Automatic" but manually change that.
Also its 2022. You can find a 1080 TV for 20 bucks nowadays so I recommend tossing out the old TV unless it's a rare CRT HDMi or such. Looks rather thick which was why I asked by, idunno, could be a plasma lol
Bravia's are usually pretty good CRTs.
Oh! haha. The photo made it look like it.
honestly I don't know the brand name
Wouldn't a Sony CRT be a Trinitron tho
Well their LCDs are also not generally bad. Sony's Bravia series typically has the best input.
not all Trintrons are great.
what u are looking for is called overscan
yikes plasma
Thicc boi but not cry
That's not really that thicc
Crt*
thats not crt
Yeh I said it's not
oh shit. is this TV set to 720 i or p
good
the energy ud save with a modern tv over what looks like plasma
nah thats not plasma
ud be glad u bought a new one
just an old LCD
sure looks like plasma
none of my old lcd is that thicc
the 2 plasma i have are
Plasma TVs typically had certain bezels around the edges and were always "boxy" in shape and design in terms of edges.
That's the ugly kludge workaround and not a real fix since you're still losing picture out in the border, but oh well
I've seen plenty of thick early 00s LCDs like those.
but it does have the bezel and boxy design
maybe its the camera angle but its hard for my eyes to see it.
Yes
A fuck ton of bezel
yeah high chance its plasma then
looks like 4 or 5cm
does it weigh a billion pounds?
Yes
It's heavy af
ye
I've lifted a modern 32 inch tv
And it's far lighter
that's not the point, its how fps were presented and its story told
has nothing to do with the tech
lcd screens arent heavy either
they don't have CCFLs and inverters and bunch of stuff
sorta? it didn't tell much of a story in the same veins as others before it. It told a story unfolding around the player as they go level to level which was how others did it.
Older ones most def have some heft to them. The big ones anyways.
noone else had done it like half-life did before
that's not true at all.
fps pre half-life was you started on a level gun in hand and that's it
it is though
lets go through it then, starting from 1998
but first lets define the "it" and what exactly it is that Half Life accomplished that you are saying as a first or grand staple*
BTW I'm not denying the greatness and influence of Half Life*
it's a superb game
also I was wrong : Medal of Honor came in 1999 and I thought it was 97
the classic fps style like doom, quake etc with discrete levels, keys to open new segments etc was the formula everyone copied until half-life came along which introduced things more like you'd see in a movie or show, it set up the world with a whole nother emphasis on enviromental storytelling and narrative and also "levels" that (almost) seemlessly transitioned into one another
like one continous line rather than broken up segments as in what's now called the boomer shooters
Okay, thats very well defined.
and the stuff HL introduced is what the vast majority of fps games made since has adopted in one way or another
Well, based off ones I've played and know about : you have Dark Forces back in 1995 which was story telling FPS with sequential story telling , cinematic openings/endings, and levels that fit one to another rather than like Doom/wolfenstein of dump and blast everything. Even if Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series you pretty much just blast everything and complete your mission objectives.
And then there's System Shock in 1994. You cannot deny that one.
Dark Forces was great but it still followed quite a doom-like setup with separate levels and finding keys/items to progress
system shock also great but its not quite an fps in the same regard as these other games
its massively different yeah and mix of genre
but
it fills your critera better than Dark Forces does
first-person yes but there was quite little in the way of gunfights or combat overall
which yeah Dark Forces is more traditional but it still has the story aspect, less on the enviornment story telling aprt though
aye
more like. FPS-RPG-Survival.
sure they all had story in one way or another, but its how it told that story that set HL apart imo
Well one that fits your bill is.... bit of a sin to say it but Trespasser LOL
mostly joking but in some ways not.
FPS that was very heavily environmental story telling focused
even if it was a buggy trash rushed game
trespasser tried some novel stuff yeah, but yes it bombed quite badly because they never had the time or budget to finish it
am back
They had the budget. the problem was time. They ahd to rush it for Jurassic Park 3.
so tons of cut content, rushed development, and very lacking in bug fixing.
if they had more time : it would have been the Half Life 2 of 1999/2000
anyways back to topic
uuuh letsee... not Hexen... not rainbow six.... not turok...
Well there's the Dark Force/Jedi Knight sequels still.
Quake 2 I don't recall if that had much in story telling or whatnot.
I legit can't remember Unreal's singleplayer stuff.
System Shock 2 came afterwards in 1999
which lets be real still was being developed for some time before that year
So yeah honestly thats pretty much it and yeah Half Life would be the top in those regards if you don't count System Shock series or the Jedi Knight ones
But I would say in terms of modern stuff : Medal of Honor started more fo the trends you see in current shooters than Half Life. Mainly because they keep copy-pasting it for the past 20 years.
I think it peaked at probably CoD 2
anyways. Half Life was certainly extremely solid. Even fi ti was originally going to be a quake mod.
tense moments, good challenge, not-so-hell platforming which in those days was pure hell for other games
there wasn't a lot of enemies but there was a good diversity and all of them unique with different AI.
And, yes, amazing environment building and story telling.
quake 2 and unreal largely followed the doom formula
yee, not surprised. those were more popular for the multiplayer because that was the new hot thing.
half-life practically killed off that style fps entirely for over a decade
Eventually we get some cool stuff like Deus Ex
and some odd ducks like Deus way back
more about FPS, but it is a FPS and does have shooty in it 😛
you can ignore all the stealth and hacking and just go loud and fuck shit up.
Ehhhhh...
it's about player choice in how they play. You cannot deny that. It's the core fundamental aspect of the game and it takes those into account in multiple ways from character dialoge, game mechanics, and the RPG aspects.
It's about choice - The choice not to play an old Unreal engine game in a way it really wasn't designed to handle very well 😄
You can have your choice but someone out there likely would have their own choice to do otherwise or to experiment and jsut play the game differently than they did the first time.
I'm merely pointing out that Deus Ex had a very shitty shooting experience. It really wasn't designed with the Doomguy approach in mind.
But what can you expect from a game from 2000. It was the wild west.
Aye. and thats why they don't put in rooms clogged with enemies back to back and things liek that. They knew that fully when developing the game.
And they also pushed for people to be more 'reasonable' than just kill gun crazy and such
by making it difficult to even do that.
also not all games from 2000 were experimental or had early-installment-weirdness
by the 00s plenty of good devs had their eggs properly in their basket on what to do with 3D as oppose to the mid 90s when only a few knew wtf to do.
When Deus Ex came out you had :
Quake 3
Counter Strike
World Is Not Enough
Medal of Honor
Time Splitters
Star Trek Elite Force
Turok 3
Perfect Dark
Unreal Tournament
Half Life Expansions
System Shock 2
Couple Tom Clany's
There was plenty of good stuff that wasn't "Wild West" for FPS.
it bugs me a bit I never got to play deus ex at the time hearing how good it was in retrospect
It was good after you got the bug fixes* depending which video card you had* but yes a great game.
it had some teething issues but most games did. But it was in a keruffle between three different video card APIs
It had a lot of issues but the premise was pretty solid - And it spawned a godawful series 😄
It spawned just itself 😛 I don't know anything about Invisible Wars but I hear it was simply "okay 5/10" which made it loo all the worse cause it wasn't 9999999999999999999/10 for being the ultra mega sequel to greatest game evaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar
iirc it was the issues that made me steer clear at the time
wasn't entirely easy to know whether something had been patched or not at the time either
I 1000000% playing it nowadays to experience what it has to offer cause it sitll can offer something to enjoy.
had to rely on gaming mags to tell you these things
ehh am not the one to really enjoy playing ancient games now
Invisible War was godawful. Not only was the story just not up to par (and retconned things for the sake of retconning them), it was HEAVILY marred by the PS2/Xbox console limitations. The PC version is basically a PC port that looks and runs like pure ass.
Well by the time Deus Ex came out the internet was a thing but yeah maybe not to every single home yet.
there's very few games that holds up to any larger extent
sure we had internet, but not really all the time access
oh yeah I forgot! it was a port too @_@ disaster
Definitely - Didn't even have 56K at the time cause it was pricy af. Which meant that it wasn't for two years until I got a patch that would let me save the game.
iirc we didn't move past 56K modem until 2001 or 2002
I didn't have net till AOL heh
damn. I wish I knew what I had truth be told. I can't recall what my first modem was.
The release version couldn't understand "large" harddrives, so they appeared as negative space. I could literally only play the game with a single slot quicksave. You bet I bought the magazine with the cheat codes fast cause it was SO fucking easy to get stuck in an impossible situation 8 hours into the game due to a poorly timed quicksave.
first one we had for PC was a 33.6
Deus Ex or invisible wars?
in 1995 or so
The OG.
then upgraded to 56
There was an RPG game in the mid-late 90s that the save and load feature was so badly programmed it wiped your whole drive. forgot the name of it.
but yeah. Get a copy of Deus Ex and give it a try. patched of course. May or may not require third party patches, depending on how you feel about that.
you can find plenty of mods and such to help modernize it too
I recommend try and go with a more authentic experience
and fix what needs fixing/broken
though honestly I can't remember any game-breaking bugs
I've just made peace with the fact that I missed the boat on some great classics, playing them now just never has the same impact
well yeah. dosn't have the same wow factor.
but I've played some pretty epic titles that seemingly everyone else seems to have missed out on
like terra nova
Though I had a point in time where my computer died and I didn't have the money for a long time to play anything modern. SO I had to use a shitty laptop to play old games and I grew an ability to appreciate classics regardless what time period it came from.
still have yet to come across anyone else online who played that
Terra Nova sounds familiar
strike force centauri?
oh shit, the guys that made that game made Ultima Styngian Abyss series
ooooh I see now.
System Shock. Thief.
I'm not surprised
they also did a port or two apparently
more like : super Underdog
damn. who was their publisher?
ah I see. themself and then Origin
yyyyuuupppp
self published iirc
when they did System Shock it was under Origin. So they had Lord British himself reining above them.... good for sake of highly reknown but bad in some ways. And then got worse when they got bought by EA
Granted : EA gave them financial backing but then fucked them all to rush and push out Ultima Online to beat the other in the early MMO race
had so many innovations, huge voxel open world maps with weather/day/night mechanics and various biomes, destructible terrain, jump packs letting you jump hundreds of meters up in the air, squad mates with sophisticated orders, remote drones with video feed and ability to control them, power armors with modular weapon and item loadouts like mines and remote detonators
and so on and on
still haven't seen some of this stuff in other games since, and they did it in 1996
yeah thats some big leaps.
but I think perhaps too much for back then. Too much for general consumer hardware.
that's probably the most impressive part, it wasn't all that hardware intense
back then you probably still didn't have a combine video card of both 2D and 3D
ran on our pentium 100mhz at the time quite adequately
wait its all software rendered?
yes
not sure if they ever released an opengl/hardware rendering patch for it, they had planned a multiplayer expansion for it but it was cancelled due to poor sales of the singleplayer campaign
I think I'm looking at the wrong one and its why I'm confused. I'm looking at one that says it requires 1GHz and I'm like "no wait thats not right"
like quake it released just before the release of the first commercial 3D accelerator cards
Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri is a 1996 tactical first-person shooter video game developed and published by LookingGlass Technologies. Set in a science-fictional depiction of the 24th century, the game follows a faction of humans who colonize the Alpha Centauri star system to escape from the Hegemony, a totalitarian Earth government. The pla...
this
yee
oooh yeah I was lookiing at the WINDOWS spec requirements and not the DOS.
though you still needed a video card
any SVGA 256 with at least 1MB of VRAM
Recommended is 60-90mhz pentium and 8-16mb of RAM
I'll def check out this game
I'll add it to my DOS machine and give it a spin
got an old ... I think 4 or 8MB video card
it has some old 90s tropes as well, like the fmv cutscenes with cheesy bad acting
Armor regeneration speed is dependent on framerate and will not work with high frame rates.
``` oof
wow that's a technical hurdle
not really.
this is why the Turbo Button existed
A lot of games, especially DOS ones, didn't have frame rate limiters and things like that
this was kinda late for the turbo button implementation though
so a lot of games got super screwy when played at the speed of the CPU which was always progressively getting faster and faster
nightdive apparently republished it but can't find any info on it actually being remastered
nah 1996 still would have turbo button around.
yes but it was quite rarely utilized for software released at that time
DOS was the name of the game even with Win 95 around. especialyl for those wanting to play games.
was more common on late 80s/early 90s software
your way through a level
