Firmware updates exist for a reason. They're regularly released to fix bugs, improve performance, and add features. For example, after version 2.11.x, they released the switch selector, which improved accuracy and overall keyboard performance. So I don't really see why anyone wouldn't want to update their firmware. One of Wooting's main strengths is constant firmware and software updates

That specific "ghost hover" around 1.4mm to 1.5mm is a classic symptom of magnetic or sensor interference. Because the Wooting 80HE relies entirely on Hall Effect (magnetic) sensors, anything throwing off the magnetic field in that exact spot will make the keyboard think the key is partially pressed. 
Since it happens with every switch you put in that slot, we can safely rule out a broken switch magnet. Here is how to isolate and fix the problem, ranked from easiest to hardest:

1. Check for External Magnets (The Secretlab Effect)
   Is your keyboard sitting on a metal desk, a magnetic desk mat (like the Secretlab MAGPAD), or near anything else magnetic (like wireless chargers, phone mounts, or a magnetic headset cable)?
   • The Fix: Pick up your keyboard, move it entirely away from your desk setup (try testing it on a wooden table or even your lap), and plug it back in. If the hover disappears, your desk or desk mat has become magnetized.
2. Force a Manual Recalibration
   When the Wooting boots up, it measures the baseline magnetic field for every slot. If something was off during boot, it saves a bad baseline. 
   • The Fix: Open Wootility, make sure the up arrow slot is empty, and then plug the keyboard in. Once it boots, push the switch firmly all the way into the socket. Go to the Wootility settings and look for the Troubleshooting / Calibrate option to force a clean reset of the sensor baselines.
3. Check for a Dual-Magnet/Loose Magnet Situation
   Sometimes a magnet from an old broken switch can slip out of its housing and get stuck inside the keyboard case or wedged under the switch plate. If there is a stray magnet sitting near that up arrow sensor, it will constantly trigger a 1.4mm read.

   If you try moving the keyboard to a completely different room/surface and force a recalibration, but it still hovers at 1.4mm, you likely have a defective Hall sensor on the PCB. Wooting’s customer support is incredibly good with warranty claims for this specific issue; if the steps above don't clear it, they will likely replace the PCBA for you. 
   Give the "different surface + replug" trick a shot first—did that change the depth reading at all?

If you like a deeper sound, go with the Keytok Nova. UFOs can get quite harsh once the lube dries out after a couple of months, and you can't really open them to manually lube. They also aren't the smoothest switches, as they're very tight to the point where you can feel slight friction when pressing the keys

you need to use a camera app that gives you more control, and then lower the exposure

it'll help eliminate the blurring

alternatively, put OBS on your computer, record the gameplay, use a phone to record mainly your hands with the screen visible in frame, and then sync the two sets of footage up in an editing program
