Mine were around $1 800 a pair
yes unc turns out when you measure your room and buy $2000 speakers it does actually just sound good
whats ur point 😭
That's certainly not a given though kiddo
Stop thinking high money = destined to be good
You called me unc lol
😭
😭
unc is not NEARLY as bad as kiddo
Nobody thinks kiddo is bad
talking about the neumanns
Yeah though they are good not because of the price but because of all the evidence backing it up
let me hyper-specifically rephrase it JUST for you....
turns out when you have the budget you can afford expensive speakers that sound good
I listened to B&W speakers at a demo room in a store and it did not sound good. They were genuinely $20 000 something
kiddo isnt weird unless you make it weird 💔
It's my birthday today so I'm allowed to be a cranky old person
how old are u
im assuming the guy is like 30 calling a teenager kiddo so i mean
up to you
26
maybe when minimum wage isnt significantly below the poverty line in my state ill pick up some nicer speakers 💔
i feel like someone here is chronically online
how you guys doing tho
26 is not unc btw
u must be around that age, issokay bro
need to be 40 to be an unc
35
im 18
Great speakers can be had for pretty cheap nowadays thankfully. I recommend Erinsaudiocorner on YouTube. He measures and tests a lot of speakers
i take it back
Lmaooo
why should 25+ year olds always be at a bar?
probably because the typical age range of people on discord is like 15-18
and ive been going to bars since i was 13 it's just a normal thing non unc people do
not really a lot of people in this discord are above 18
yeah ur cooked
no im just slavic
this is not normal btw theyre not supposed to let u in
oh
nvm
I started Discord when I was 16. Am I just supposed to quit now and spend the rest of my 20s in a bar
makes sense
At what point is it like not acceptable to be on disc, like 22? Lmaooo
according to this information yes you should always be in a bar when looking for social interactions
I'm 18 so we chillin
whatever age your able to get outside and actually meet real people
you can do that at any age
what if you can't drink alcohol (for religious reason)
hey so you havent seen us roads
order a hot chocolate
i cant leave my neighborhood without getting run over by 6 lanes of lifted trucks bae
lot of bars have em
I love the idea that just because someone happens to be on Discord in this exact moment means they NEVER do anything else and never go outside
Lmaoooo
That's funny
I have work and college, so what I'm on disc an hour a day or something
lol thinking US roads are bad is possibly the hottest take I've seen, have you seen Dubai's roads??
one sec my food just got here brb
i mean people drive in the bike lane
Pft yeah I'm going to be walking down the street and be hit with 3 Ferraris and a g wagon
what am I seeing unfold here
idk bro
Nothing related to pc_gear
can we please ban these shits
clearly LMAO
went from IEMs to headphones to speakers and now cars
can't wait for Thieaudio Hype 4 mk 2 reviews. Might take a while though.
Though this doesn't seem much like a car hobby discussion but more like an «American whining about large cars» thing
dubai roads means walking 2 hours to get to a nearby mall
Keep chasing that unicorn buddy. I'm rooting for you
i dont see a problem with this one
they arent parked like dicks
lol
TRUEEEEEE
- the ford on the right looks like a ranch/work rig
the lifted ones built like that r the main problem 30% of the trucks here are lifted
I recently saw a lifted cybertruck
Ayyy my crinacle zero blues just showed up
i was just trying to show a size comparison to like a honda fit
I have no clue how one was able to do that
lifts are fine if they arent excessive
i see this nonsense on the regular with a bull bar
yeah thats stupid
and all i think is that if i get hit by that im fucking dead
time to unbox and spend 30 minute listening to music with it
fun fact if youve ever wondered if they struggle to get into those trucks yes they do
but a 2-4 inch lift is perfectly fine and very much so functional depending on the trucks use case
nah any actual work truck here is just a regular truck
like the ford on the right here?
yes
bash bars should require a liscence
yeah that looks like its got a 2 inch lift
because of the bash bars bro
its probably a ranch truck
then they can apply for a bash bar and provide their ranch as proof as to why they need it
or you could just not
@wispy blaze did you see the gr gt and lfa successor
we shouldnt need a specific license to modify our cars/trucks 😭
joe's nepo son does not need a bash bar when all he does is go to frat parties
hey so if the modification is dangerous maybe you should
nah
what is considered dangerous then?
that could be spun in many ways
when you lift a truck with bars without a mansfield bar it becomes dangerous
or any non complaint design
literally any other car is designed to stop things from being pushed under the hood
the bullbar on that ford would lineup with a compliant design 🤷
the gr gt is a hybrid tt 4L v8
what happens if this hits u
cybertruck
oh nahh what is that
its a long boi
i dont know how to feel about the rear end
he ugly I will tell you that much
but the gt spec looks mean i like that
always gotta get the grand touring trim!
The literature reviewed in this study indicates that vehicles fitted with bull bars, particularly those without deformable padding, concentrate crash forces over a smaller area of vulnerable road users during collisions compared to vehicles not fitted with a bull bar. Rigid bull bars, such as those …
heres the lfa replacement
why cant they stop making the hybrids ugly?
they havent announced what engines in the lfa replacement
xiaomi somehow makes nicer looking cars LMAO
does it still sound like a robot farting
probably nothing to care about
it just made the usual ev hum
brother
WHAT is THAT
cant wait for the Xiaomi SU7 to come to EU markets
wtf i saw this video of it with this artifical exhaust feature
and it sounded like shit
slated to come like 2026-2027 right?
im gonna buy a honda fit'
yeah thats prob just in a specific mode
last good car
yeah, ill probably cop one once im back in Serbia
thanks carthrottle
my corolla xrs is gonna keep kicking until i simply cant get parts for it
its too fun to let die
but its also too rare to get parts for cheap 😭
yeah, apparently they fixed the brakes on the SU7 Ultra, now they use really massive extremely overspecced Brembos LMAO
lmfao sounds lovely xD
cant complain about having overspecced brakes 🤷
yeah, early prototypes used kinda tiny brembos for the power they can output, so they fixed it.
aside from maybe cost
thats good
First time actually trying iems, they're definitely different
heard roblox car games have better car sounds than this
I'm used to my Sony xm6 and my wf xm5 earbuds
just make sure its a good seal
Oh yeah it is, Im using the smallest eartips and it still feels a little tight
you know it's a good seal when you have that fishbowl effect in your ears when you talk
funny because it's true
they make a "pop" when you pull them out
exactly
The occlusion effect yeah. I kind of hate it tbh
I also massively dislike it
I have been spoiled by airpods transparency mode

Never tried that when I had my Airpods Pro 2
Is it the mode that takes in and plays audio it captures to make you hear your surroundings?
yup
and it does it with surprisingly low latency too
like you dont even notice it at all
I kind of want to buy the $8 Samsung earbuds Sharur has been shilling and then measure and EQ them to perfect channel balance and tonality just to see if they are a big deal or not. I said I never want earbuds again but these cost less than a pitsa so I'm tempted to try
costs less than a loaf of bread even
LMAO
Yeah it's a very safe buy
mmhm, I wonder why crin hater likes it
huh!?!
He says the upper treble is the best he has ever seen or something
But they have channel balance issues and a bad pre-EQ tonality
The Samsung earbuds that Samsung plasters "tuned by akg" all over them?
So it's basically a no-buy imo if you don't have a way to measure your own units to correct the channel imbalance and EQ them
Samsung eo-ia500
From acting superior then sometimes hating on crin based on the thumbnail of his vid
The Samsung EO-IA500 are the best sounding and measuring earphones money can buy, and only cost $8. This is the ultimate audio blackpill and will be hard to swallow for many.
Samsung EO-IA500: https://amzn.to/3LuQZzq
SpinFit W1 EarTips: https://amzn.to/4iHRt1Q

Ohh, yeah thought you meant the akg ones lol
He's the most dangerous kind of troll. The kind that is genuinely quite knowledgable and mixes real knowledge with trollish exaggerations and flaming
troll intent detected, opinion rejected.
I don't need to listen to what he has to say. The graphs show a lot of EQ potential. So I'm interested
And they are very cheap and (supposedly) comfortable. Hard to argue with that!
uhhhhhhh, uhuh
I would be interested in getting measurement gear anyway
711 couplers can be decently cheap. Less than $100
mmm, that changes things
Iems hurting one ear just something at first? I'm using the smallest eartips too, just feels a bit tight and uncomfortable, figured it'd be something id just get used to
I said that when I got my first pair of IEMs, I did not get used to it
The discomfort never went away for me either
Anddd this is why I bought the 40 dollar iems rather than the 300 dollar ones lol
It's only on the left ear which is funny
Normal, our ears are never perfectly symmetrical
Figured that was the case
You could try getting a smaller tips
If the smallest tips there is like an S, XS tips from third party could fit
Squglink. Do need to learn how to graph but tldr if the line match, it sounds somewhat similar
Something you could try is foam tips, works for me but every ear is different.
are there any mice with comparably good firmware and software to wootility or qmk/via/etc? I'd like a mouse that allows me to do custom things like these do
as in an open source mouse, or a mouse with goated software?
just goated software would be fine
ive been wanting to do something along the lines of a binary trigger for m1 for a while
but nothing other than AHK seems capable
Endgame Gear has good software but they do not have web compatibility, nor can you use wine on linux which is kinda sad :(
Finalmouse has great web software, but the hardware can be hit or miss, and is generally overpriced
Orbitalworks has web software that is pretty good with macro support from what I remember. I use my Pathfinder as my main mouse for casual use/gaming, and my zeromouse blade when I wanna go all out for aiming
all of these mice are onboard memory
also WLMouse mice have web software too, pretty decent, gets the job done
Mice have very similar software across the board with generally the same feature set, some just have less than most and either have web based or not.
Not a single one i would honestly be able to highlight over others that offers something unique or cutting edge (i guess this is inherently from the fact of not much innovation is happening with mice in general)
i currently have a pulsar x2 crazylight and the software is just dismal
The new Audio-Technica ATH-ADX7000 has arrived during a landmark year for audiophile over-ear headphones, but does it find it's footing among so many excellent 2025 releases? Join Resolve as he digs into what this one really gets right (and wrong).
Check out Listener's written review: https://headphones.com/blogs/reviews/audio-technica-ath-adx7...
I'll prop look at this as a very bloated and dark headphone lmao
Wobbly response beyond 2k. Meh
Yes HD490 is the better headphone
is it true the hifiman edition xs don’t really need an amp these days for most of the sound quality? (on windows desktop)
my audio codec is a realtek alc4080
That completely depends on what you are currently using. If there is enough headroom and if the noise and distortion generated by whatever you listen from is inaudible
so the problem isn't the "resolution" but more like the distortion and noise i get from my motherboard amp/dac?
motherboard dac is fucking dogshit in almost all cases
just get apple dongle if you are US
and ur set
im eu so..
okay and if i dont get enough volume then i'm gonna need an amp? because i'm wondering if i'll need an amp for the most sound quality or if not
aaah alright then, thanks a lot
ima buy the hifiman xs and a dac and see if i need it or not
never tried to eq
and honestly im not too sure about this i mean i like to listen to rock which could indicate i do i guess
lol ig you'll find out when you get your stuff
what do you currently use to listen to music
Well audible distortion, a not flat frequency response or audible noise floor doesn't help sound quality either
?????
But getting an amplifier that doesn't do any of this is no issue. I've never had any apparent audible issues with my own motherboard audio
have you ever tried a dac before lol
Yes
which one
RME ADI-2 FS, Schiit Bifrost 2, Apple Dongle (the European one), and various built-in solutions like what my speakers and headset has
and you're saying that your motherboard audio is better or as good as any of these?
When measured it surely wouldn't be, but I never heard an audible noise floor or any distortion with the few ones I've had. I can't really say if they all had flat FRs since a -1 dB roll-off at 20 kHz wouldn't exactly be easy to hear
I dunno what type of motherboard you are using
but any motherboards I have tried have all LF's boosted and Left and Right seperation is abysmal
Can't say I ever have
chill bro
obsidians
it’s nice, i just got my adapter today too so i ca n plug it into my amp
you use glass pad?
No I like my big desk mats
aight ion wanna hear it then 😭
jk
Are you gonna use a sleeve or nah?
Where would I find ss eartips for iems? Just Amazon? I'd use the same tips as my xm5's but it looks like they actually have a different connector for the ear tip.
I like spinfit tips
Is there a standard tip connector for iems? Or does it completely vary between them
IEMs are generally are all the same nozzle diameter. good luck with the tip journey. id recomend looking at azla xlastec. they are tacky and sit on the outside of your ear canal instead of going deep like spin fits.
Sweet thanks, I will take a look at them
Azla Sedna earfite lites are also decent ones too
how does the ultra ice switches compare to DCF?
Other IEM that has similar ish treble tuning as Hype 4 mk2. Much more expensive though.
If I'm smort with ali deals, I could get the Hype 4 mk2 for ~$350. Which makes it a really nice deal to me.
Can i eat em
If you like my ear wax, sure for $400
just got this guy last night
nice
How is it?
love the griptape, and the clicks feel really good compared to the model o-
how much was it?
230 CAD im not sure what that translates to in USD
np, i can exchange, ty
man i gotta sell mine
whys that?
prefer the width of normal superlight
skinniest mouse best mouse
I did not like the griptape with my superlight but that was first gen so maybe it's a bit better now
razer griptape >>> whatever the fuck the original gpx had
that shit was disgusting to touch
its not great but it does feel much better than nothing on the model o- i had
i like the razer one so much im gonna actually keep it on the mouse and ask razer support for replacements
any griptape I've gotten with my mice has been kinda ass
cicada wings are nice but my white ones stain pretty easy 😂
i usually rip mouse griptapes off in a few days
I'm just rawdogging my mouse right now
straight plastic
doesn't even have a grippy coating
too much grip is bad
The last two griptapes for the last two mice i tried (stock ones) have been pretty nice
that was me a bit ago i didnt hate it but could def deel my finger gliding sometimes
maybe im just too new to the griptape scene, any recommendations? im willing to try different ones
i still am with my hitscan hyperlight, that coating is grippy enough
no reason to spend more if you like them already, unless you want some for when they start to wear out
like I said I like the cicada wings, grippy and thin aswell, doesn't mess with the shape much
I haven't tried super many varieties though
I'm not too familiar with aftermarket ones, i bought a few for my Aerox custom when i had it, but they wear and tear fast, before that i bought some set locally from a brand i don't really know, those wore fast too.
let me see what the name was, so you can avoid it
from what ive read online, the cicada ones megas talking about and pulsar griptapes have been the best for people
I thought no coating would be awful but it's been pretty fine, colder right now though so I'm not sweating much, might be worse when it gets hotter out
Corepad, absolute ass quality, never buy
thanks guys ill keep those book marked!
youre right ill wait these ones out for now
the one cloth pad that isn’t just black rectangle and of course I stain it
question for hifi enjoyers here : is the topping dx1 a good DAC for it's price ? (also if you have headsets recommendations ...)
Although iems are nice, I may just order myself a hd 490 pro instead
Yeah, I wore the iems for an hour and then swapped over to my xm6's afterwards and the xm6's were just a much more enjoyable experience
reviews look to be pretty favorable and afaik, Topping know their shit. I'm thinking of trying one of their interfaces as an all-in-one solution. As far as headphone recs, too many to mention and I'm also looking for something
Pulsar supergrip
6 months in and they are still super grippy
And all they need is a gentle wiping with a damp microfiber cloth to revive the surface
The key is to not use any strong solvents like Isopropyl or Acetone
are they good for sweat?
if you just need the dac portion of it then you can get the same quality from a dongle
Very good, they actually get grippier with moist hands

They discovered holes on a mouse?
Wonder how many people will see that never having seen the wrath of the lich king cinematic
Judging by the comments quite a few
@warm rain DS2 ahh cinematic
probably gonna need one of these for such an ice cold mouse
ai slop aint topping ds2
It's good. It's a completely transparent device (flat frequency response, noise and distortion below audibility). But I'd only go for it if you want the ability to adjust the volume with a knob from a device on your desk. If you don't need the extra power or usability I'd just go for the American Apple dongle

00:00 Introduction
00:48 Notes on the screen
1:03 How would I describe the sound?
Huh, IEM that supposedly beat others until $70 range for just $10
Why does it stop at $70?
From his words.
Could be more, I might grab it since it's like $8 at my place.
Silly imo
It's silly because it implies there's some inherent difference in earbuds that are under that price versus above
It's just more price = performance nonsense
umu
I guess it has a nice treble which makes people like it more. Otherwise, it's very similarly tuned with others.
ayy, at least I can view it like a cheaper zero 2, cause that's like $5 more at my place.
Noooooo - XS have shitty headband
maybe i should try EQing my xs
Of course
any good EQ recommendations or should i just do it from my music player
Do it from music player, it's whatever
Equaliser APO with the Peace GUI addon is the standard because it has lots of features
And lots and lots of bands for PEQ though for eggshaped hifiman headphones I am often very happy with just 3 to 4 bands
not super interested in tinkering a ton so i'll try to find some settings i can copy and call it a day
Are you doing Equaliser APO?
It's fairly easy and it's set and forget
And now you can load the Oratory preset (and others) in the program itself without having to manually enter it

$400 earbuds = value king is the dumbest thing I have seen all month
gotta get the dough with the fouls
from his review, the bass is not that much. But I don't care about bass.
do you like the ow60 budget friendly keyboard case

Idk what that is
yes it is the cheapest case
No opinions
Anybody that can recommend a wrist rest for the Two HE other than the Silicone rest from Wooting? I was looking for something like the G513 palmrest but that is unfortunately not sold seperately...
huh, another IEM that I might like, EPZ K9
it's $300 though, at that point I might as well save up more for Hype 4 MK2 cause it extend better on the treble.
I have a g513 palmrest in my closet xD
Come pick it up you can have it
I opened wootility today and all my settings were turned back to default till I updated the firmware and then they auto went back to the settings I had. Do I have to open wootility everytime for settings to be active?
No
no?
I was on team split never got a role though.
Maybe the kids aren't alright.
Offspring reference 👀 👀
do I bite the bullet on 300+ dollar 32gb ddr5 ram for my build because idk if I can justify that much for ddr5 even though i need it because of my ryzen lol
Do it. Buy it off Newegg (they've extended their return to the 31st of January) so worst case if it goes down then you can return it. But if it goes up more you can feel good about yourself
good to know, yeah ive heard prices are gonna have another spike next year so ill probably risk spending more if I wait
Mmm, my new eartips is going to arrived
always a fun day
would probably go hard with this keyboard https://www.coalkeybord.com/keyboards/tx65
@viscid bison @hazy fiber
anything but viper v4 mini

i just speedran(if that's a word) a video of the old version and the ergonomics look pretty bad. I do like the design though but given that it's limited, it'll probably cost twice more than it should
hell bent for leather yee haaw
mmm, just imagine old paint
kk
Yes I am crazy for sitting a empty keyboard case on my desk to see how it looks
I doubt anyone can read it that blurry, but uh just for safety
Fuck my monitor cable needs to be longer
The leather is so tacky lol
PU leather
1300 mice and they couldn't use even real leather, just slapped polyurethane
Bru
Not sure if I want to rebuy my keyboard or finally try out the Wooting 80HE
What best mouse you guys rcm for claw grip
Lamzu Maya for mine and also the Sora V2 as backup, but not a fan of how it sounds; loudish clicks and feels cheap in hand compared to Lamzu imo
I really consider about finalmouse, lamzu, beastx what you will choose
my friend really likes his maya x
Lamzu, BeastX and Finalmouse in that order. I think all three are good options for claw but the FM Qc lottery is real
One does not put Finalmouse and "good option" in one sentence together
BeastX is just Finalmouse but with better QC and prices
yuh I wonder how it'll hold up for people with acidic hands 🫣
So lamzu is the best for claw grip?
Because i really like how beastx look but idk beastx good or not
BeastX really good mice
Viper v3 is also good
my copy was perfectly fine and felt pretty good, but I definitely won't be buying another soon. Far too many good options out there
People say that Beastx will have its paint peeling and become rough after a while of use. Is that true?
not the best, just what I prefer. I'm only placing the BeastX second as it was first gen, with holes on the sides and felt kinda bad to hold. I probably shoulv'e gripped taped it. Just go with BeastX
I'm not sure
Must've been much older ones, these days it's practically a non-issue
Btw Is the OP1 8k mouse good? I've heard many positive reviews about it.
Keep in mind it's not leather, but PU leather
So basically a dense foam with plastic foil glued on top and leather texture stamped on
Acidic sweat will eat through in a flash
Yup, is good
fortunately they're only selling 1,337 units. Less complaints to deal with lol
xm2 8k should also be a pretty good claw shape
Did OP have good wiredless mouse?
endgamegear makes both shapes in wired and wireless and yeah both should be good
a hole-less WL mouse launching in 2 days. And again with the furry dongle
hello, what are we talking abt
mouses
kat
Nop, I'm on good ol' Dav3
I like this colorway though
Would match keyboard
IT HAS A DISPLAY
cause i was gonna ask if you were able to change the settings of the mouse through the software
but idk if thats possible on linux
WL make the best colour combos imo
my friend tried for his OP1 8k v2 and had no luck
ah the 54H series is how they achieve dual 8k
Doesn't look like
ratbag doesn't have support, not sure what would be other software for Endgame
I showed my friend the arbiter godzilla pads and he bought one the same minute I posted the pic
I bought 4 mousepads this month the addiction is rubbing off on him
Looking to buy a new mouse that has good side buttons and a good scroll wheel. I have 18x8 hands and my aim grip is a mix between palm and claw grip. I currently own the G Pro x Superlight and the Viper V3 Pro. I like the shape on both of the mice but I hate the side buttons on the G Pro x Superlight. There is nothing wrong with the Viper V3 Pro I just want to try something new. Any recommendations?
maya x
Ty
Ty
Furry dongle 😭 😭 😭
Its just a cat dawg
Goat moysr
Looks interesting
tuff, I think I'd go for this colourway 👀
Very cool indeed
Solid magnesium
Isn’t it stainless steel?
It's magnesium
Aight

If you cover it in paint
Would have to get processed in a non-reactive enviroment
Even under a vacuum it would react because of the initial heat
Yeah
Inside a bucket of paint
Unless they refinish the entire surface of it
No like, once it comes out of the tooling it is gonna be HOT
If there is any trace of oxygen in the air it will instantly react
Sure, but you can just sand stains off mostly
Yea uhh
It is not gonna be stains
It is gonna be stain
It is aluminum magnesium, what do you expect to happen
It's "stronger" in specific strength/g
anybody knows if clear mousepads exist. i have a desksize cloth mousepad and i want to put a clear glass one on top
They don't because some sensors don't play nice with it
And in general, tracking on them is worse
sad
10x more corrosion resistant to what? alu or steel and what type of steel
the aerospace grade magnesium
i hate it when companies use arbitrary numbers like this
No steel
It's AlMg
this AlMg is 10x more corrosion resistant to what tho
Probably magnesium
Uh... magnesium is hella reactive, corrodes really fast... 10x is not exactly good in this case
there's been plenty of laptop cases being made out of magnesium aluminium
Sure
Pretty sure my Thinkpad has it
Yep, those are usually lacquered or anodized
Guess what anodization is
(hint, not stainless)
I’ve had my final mouse Starlight for a while and honestly still my favorite mouse, wish I would of got it in a small though
What colorway, I miss those old designs 🥶
I am not responsible with money whatsoever

cute design
I just bought the aqua control plus mint
I still wouldn't be concerned since I haven't seen any cases of WLMOUSE products corroding
I bought 192 GB of ram before the price increase, but im lowkey new to this reselling stuff
Imagine a 5k 27 inch 240 Hz oled (with genuine BFI) 😍
I need 32” for that resolution personally. 4k on 27” makes some scaling stuff so tiny and you have to try adjust everything to be bigger
I'm happy with 150 - 200% scaling on mine
There's that upcoming proart display that's 27" 4K 240hz
More for professionals though
Probably with a price tag to match
240hz for professionals?
Yeah well most normal monitors don't look like this
professional grade color accuracy etc
aint that the same panel tho
If I were doing movie editing I'd buy a much better monitor than that
yep
editing a movie on a 27inch seems fun
and that qdoled will be pretty useless for hdr
i mean they'd use other monitors to actually edit but when they wanna check color accuracy they switch to their other display to check color grading and stuff
^ im not a editor nor do i have any experience so this is all assumptions)
The FiiO Warmer digital-to-analogue converter has heavy bass roll-off regardless if you run it in oversampling mode or non-oversampling mode. And in non-oversampling mode it has slightly less treble. Absolutely horrendous but if someone wants a dac that genuinely sounds different here you go.
its like Apple's Pro Display XDR being justifiable for some people even at the 5k price point
Speaking of rumours are a new one is coming
i'd have bought that new asus oled if it wasnt for that awful silver border
i think the oleds are close enough to color accurate now outside of super pro level cinema grading stuff
I think the biggest hindrance is unit variation and pre-calibration accuracy
RIP
asus typically have some of the best pre-calibration accuracy from what I've found, but honestly again none of that matters unless you're doing specific cinema level color grading things
for general video and youtube no one viewing actually cares if your green is 0.5% off for example
the ideal is 2 stations though. One for gaming one for editing, but lord knows getting the space for that is a pain
Imagine buying a device like this instead of just EQing
It's a shame because it looks kind of cool but the bass roll-off is completely unacceptable to me
R2R is such a meme outdated technology
Especially when ran in non-oversampling mode. That's just not how dacs are meant to be. You are purposfully not converting digital properly to analogue, and yet people think this is somehow more analogue sounding
People will look at this and call it analogue
People just love to cling to old, outdated and inferior technology like R2R, vinyl and valves (tubes) in audio
Would you recommend Fiio QX13? I don't need the EQ function, but I do want to use the Estick function. Primarily for portable use. Or should I just go with Questsytle M15i.
The performance is most likely solid on both so the main factor will be features, software, ease of use, cost and looks. I don't know much about these devices so you'll just have to pick the one you like the most in these regards
I've only had one dap before and I find it very important to have a nice and easy way to adjust volume. And the UI should be pretty responsive. Those are very important to me

That 540hz one?
It's grown on me, but I still would prefer black. If it would have been e-coated white, I would have disliked it way more
I like anodized surfaces, they look beautiful
I like the back of the monitor but the bezels are eh.
LG announced their version of that monitor for next year release, but only thing is asus are only ones doing that nice glossy black right now
everyone else using the panel is doing matte, which doesn't look as nice blacks
bezels used to bother me but i grew to like them. again if it was e-coated that would bother me
I look forward to trying out these new monitors in stores
Is this the first 5k gaming monitor?
if i am to believe this list.. yes

there is one 70hz monitor
Exciting. Now to hope for a 240 Hz oled model
I've given the tang sancai noble + 7hz divine for a while now. It fixes what I hate about the IEM and genuinely makes it a nice daily driver. Not as nice as hd490 pro cause I still think the tuning doesn't feel natural to me and also metallic sounding, but it'll do when I'm sitting.
Prop gonna buy a different cable cause the default cable suck ass when walking. Also wanna do the same upgrade to my 7hz Zero 2 cause it'll prop have the same effect since it's basically the same tuning.
@round lagoon I’ll give you my jds review in roughly 2 weeks
Danke
Will be interesting going from hi mode on ifi zen dac
Maybe something that I buy after steam frame (late 2026 to early 2027).
Barely took any time at all for it to arrive, he got it done in basically record time and got it shipped for free with 2 day ups shipping
no, LG made a 5k OLED before Asus did. albeit its an ultrawide
Haven’t tried it yet but I’m already a fan
I think it was the Ultragear GX9
When I say 5k I am referring to 16:9
5120 x 2880
sure, then its a first
Exciting times for monitors
yeah, im pretty sure Asus is using that one Samsung Panel that was showed off at a trade show not too long ago
it has eerily similar specs
Is this oled
yes these are OLED panels
5k 240Hz is going to need something like DP 2.1 UHBR20 which no display controller exists that has a UHBR20 capable displayport
and you still need DSC even with UHBR20
What?
even now there are only a couple of displays that actually support DP2.1 UHBR10/13.5
Isn't my PG27UCDM UHBR20
That's what it claims
Full 80 gbps bandwidth
And yes I know 5k 240 Hz would require DSC. That's fine
huh, looks like they do exist now, nice
thats nice
I'd be fine with it just being 120 Hz as long as it has a powerful motion blur reduction technique built-in to the display like the CRT one made by BlurBusters
Asus ELMB works well , but it requires a 240Hz panel to achieve because every other frame needs to be a black frame
it is realistically the only way to reduce motion blur on OLED due to how us humans percieve motion
And so can decrease motion blur even further
What mean you?
The LG CX/C1 do not work like this
they dont do black frame insertion?
And they have less blur at these modes than 240 Hz oleds
They do not halve the maximum refresh rate of the display
They are 120 Hz screens that can do blur reduction at 120 Hz so you get persistence of something equivalent in the 300 Hz range
It's rolling scan BFI afaik
As opposed to framerate capping BFI (not sure what it is actually called)
its like traditional BFI, insert a black frame every other frame
which is why with this kind of BFI it halves your effective refresh rate because half of it is used to render black frames
LG C1 at 120 Hz without BFI
With BFI at 120 Hz
This is the old shittier Rtings test but it's still quite a nice difference
ok so it looks like the LG CX TV has a 240Hz effective refresh and it just uses normal BFI like all the others. I saw test videos and it clearly shows a black frame being rendered every other frame.
😕 isn't BFI just an improvement if you can't actually achieve the native res? Doesn't make sense to me for 120hz native to look worse than 60hz interlaced w/ black frames.
it uses like 75% black frames at 50 and 60Hz and 50% black frames at 100Hz and above
Ah so it's 240hz with 120hz of input data and the other half black frames. Makes more sense.
LG CX/C1 does rolling-scan BFI
It doesn't turn the screen off between frames
It's like this
That's why it does BFI better than any other modern oled. It's a superior technique
But LG abandoned it in their TVs. C1 was the last to have it. And they have never done it on oled monitors
iirc on the C1 TVs turning it on increased latency quite significantly
It's still fine imo
The bigger issue was imo how dim the display got
It also reduced brightness too
Higher brightness is needed for more powerful BFI
But many modern OLED TVs can peak at 1500 candela
And get like 250 candela with 100% white pixels
Halving the persistence will halve the perceived brightness
Should still be doable
125 candela for a TV is pretty bright in my opinion
I can't wait for the RTings review of the 60HEv2...
I know they've got an order, and they placed it early in the campaign, so it should be shipping by now... No idea which one though... 🕵️
I'll go steal it from their hq in montreal
I'll break in
Prevent the review from happening just to spite you
Moumou would be mildly disappointed in you
Actually i'll offer her the 60hev2
Also can't you just look up by shipping address

They have their address on their website
Ya know
It wouldn't be very stealthy of them to order it directly to their HQ...
shrugs
they probably did so tho
Check it i bet they did
Pay me and i'll drive there and strap a camera to moumou

everyone ive talked to that is from canada hasnt recieved yet 😔
what iems is everyone using here ? trying to buy my first pair and doing a bit of research but dang there’s a lot!
Custom
7hz Divine and Meze Alba. I recommend 7hz zero 2 as your first pair
But my 3 favorites that aren’t thousands of $ (in no particular order) is the Sennheiser ie600, crinear daybreak, truthear x crinacle zero: blue2
I’ve heard decent things about the Diablo and divine but haven’t gotten my hands on them yet
Other than the last, the other 2 is a bit too much lmao unless the person has $$$ to burn.
Divine is very similar with zero 2 but has very good separation
The daybreak is under $200
I dig it after putting it tang sancai noble. Otherwise it's okay.
I managed to get a pair of daybreaks for $100 during a sale a while ago
Still a bit too much for a first pair. But anything below $50 like zero blue 2 and salnote zero 2 is fine.
Shiii people spend hundreds on crappy gaming headsets. You don’t know dude’s financial situation.
Waow, to assume people have $100 on demand, in this economy???
@quiet patio do tell us your budget.
Dude was just asking for what we use. He didn’t put budget.
i started off with truthear x crincile zero:reds to feel out iems and then moved onto the kiwi ears astral which i got 2 weeks ago
Im sick, my reading comprehension bad
shii i mean i assume a decent pair would be 200-500. i was thinking no more than 700/800
My daily is a custom Fir Audio xe6. 100% not a beginner IEM. But it’s for sure my favorite piece of audio equipment.
Apparently him 😂😜
😭
Still don’t know if i should get Astrals or not
It's a fairly neutral and safe set. Imo yeah.
If you wanna aim to the current year's top, you can try Xenns top pro.
ahem @abstract warren you have been summoned
^Varedis can tell you how good it is.
Im somewhat a bass slut
What sound profile are you looking for @quiet patio
Bassy, neutral, v shape, Harmon, etc
More easier to answer: what are you using currently and do you like it/what you like about it?
True
new to iems completely, i currently am using the artic nova pro wireless headset
I started on tea pros
s o j u
Kidding
A decent/good/great pair can be had for $20
First were the the kz s10 or wtvr
So a bassy iem without that much brightness will do
I’d hate the nova pro. Peaks at 6-8kHz. Looks like it’d be pretty shouty.
I'm using one since March, it's not shouty at all, very good all around actually.
Give me a TL;DR
So xenns top pro will do still.
I have no idea what’s happening rn
Somebody asking for what iem we use cause he wants a first pair.
Ok in all honesty what’s the best wireless headset mic combo I be walking around my apartment too much on call to use wired (well aware of the compromise in sound quality that makes)
he wants to know about iems
like over-ear
Imo Astro A50 Gen 5 with EQ
I would say with a budget of $700/800, I would probably stick to the $250-500 range, unless you want to go to the kilo buck territory. Two cheaper IEMs that have gotten a lot of love this year for comp FPS/general music listening/SP games are the Kiwi ears astrals ($250-270), Xenns tea pro ($350) and my personal favorite being the Xenns Top Pro ($499, follows similar tuning as Astrals)
If you’re looking for wireless gaming headset, the Audeze Maxwell is probably the best audio quality you’ll get out of a gaming headset
Ah true I remember looking at those
@quiet patio I would also listen to a few videos regarding tuning and try to see which aspects do you like/want (are you a bass head and want a lot of bass, do you like more emphasized/spicier treble etc)
I recommend the Astro over Maxwell (I own both)
Maxwell 2 is coming out soon. Leaked by Audeze on their website accidentally. Probably Q126 after CES in January would be my guess
Nova Pro honestly, it's very light and comfy, you can walk around your house all day and no fatigue, has mic and its good.
Astro has had more time to bake with its features and you could EQ it to sound good. But out of the box, the sound accuracy of astros aren’t fantastic.
I agree that Maxwell sounds better without EQ but after EQ I like the Astro's sound more + they are noticeably lighter weight with a more consistent sound on your head as well as a better microphone
ooo sounds good, the xenns pro been mentioned quite a bit for sure. time to look at videos
you know what they say, you can EQ sound, but you can't EQ comfort
The wireless range on the Astro isn't as good as the Maxwell though. Depending on the size of his apartment and how many rooms he passes through he might experience drop outs with it where he wouldn't with the Maxwell
I can give you a few videos that compares all 3 (Xenns tea pro, Xenns top pro and astrals), I think also the original Xenns Top is worth looking at if it’s available in your region but might not since I think it’s discontinued with the new pro version
good luck on your journey!
I lose connection if I sit on the toilet while turning my head to the left
😭😭😭😭

--------------------------...
But astros have such a crap headband. After an hour your head be looking like this.
my point still stands, just choose which one gives you the most comfort.
It's the Maxwell that makes me feel like that, not my Astro
IEMs solve that problem
And custom IEM’s solve the fitment problem some universal ones cause
Yep but they introduce other comfort issues to me. That's why I'm a loudspeaker chad. 10/10 comfort
If custom ones cause comfort issues, you need to get new shells with updated molds.
I haven't tried custom ones I was referring to non-custom
Ahh
tyyyy

Yeah I’m not a huge fan of some universal ones. Can never find the perfect tip and when I get close, the tips have some noticeable affect on tuning.
No doubt they would solve a lot of comfort issues
I’d also take a look at getting a DAC if you don’t have one already, you can get a cheap dongle adapter for under $100 or something in the $200s to start (ifi zen dac v3 is a nice starter), but hoping you find what you’re looking for
Spinfits and comply foamies are the only tips that work well for me. I think by far the most painful tips for my ears are Dunu S&S (which people rant and rave about.
If he doesn’t care much about added features, the Apple dongles work perfectly fine. That’s what I typically use for things that don’t have a built in amp.
by chance do you have any info on ZiiGaat x Fresh ? (was going to be the first i was gonna look up)
I’m more experienced with Xenns products, but I would try getting a tuning graph for them (using squig to compare IEMs) to something you’re looking at
i think i will have to get one
You can do something as basic as an apple dongle or a Fiio KA11 or get a desktop DAC with more features, so you’ll have a few different avenues to look at
What Mouse you Guys been playing with? Any recommendations atm?
Been using an X1 V2 lately
hitscan hyperlight and razer viper v3 pro
Im still on Sora V2. Bought Sora x Vaxee but i kinda like the lighter Mouse more
If you want the best clicks, so far nothing I’ve tried has beaten the beastx series opticals if that’s something that interests you
You mean the beast clicks
Sora V2 seems excellent still, i wouldn't change tbh. Seems like you have small to medium hands and that mouse is roughly 39g.
But if you really wanna try something else, Mercury Ultra, F1 V2 or U2 V2 mini.
They also have one of the best Softwares right?
Like what Mouse is the Wooting in the Mice Section
Their software is pretty good yeah, I think they have both a PC version and web based but I’ve been using the web mostly
If you’re into fps and want the best clicks id say beastx series (tried Maya x, VV3 pro, DAV3, Ulx classic, beastx pro, Stormbreaker max cf) and none of the clicks really come close to their magnesium counterpart
Green looks much more appealing here due to the much smoother treble
Logitech Trackman
I'm going on a plane ride and then a 10 hour bus ride pretty soon which makes me very sad that I do not own noise cancelling headphones. I'll just listen to the ambience of being in a plane and a bus
If I buy a nice pair of ANC headphones like Bose Quietcomfort Ultra 2 I'll be completely broke out the month
Okay nevermind I just bought the ||Airpods Max||
Shoulda got the Sony’s
XM6?
I've had the XM3 and then the XM5 but the XM5 was so uncomfortable I had to return it from a hotspot on top of my head
I’m on the 4 but yeah they’re great
Huh! There ya go
Only comfort issue I have with them is sometimes kissing the inside of the cup with my ear, but not bad
I haven't tried the XM4 but I think they are almost the exact same as XM3 physically
I think the Airpods Max has quite a bit more room for ears, not that this is really a big issue for me. I felt that the Quietcomfort Ultras I had before were big enough
I’m sure the maxes are great, I’ve always wanted to try them. Only got concerned by the price and weight
I'm unsure of what to make of the performance
They seem to measure very differently rig to rig. I think it's because it's doing dynamic equalisation on every individual's head
But they have incredible distortion performance
Any thoughts about AOC AG276QZD2? Looks like a quite nice Oled
Oh right, also not being able to turn them off made me really 👀
So I never have to turn it on or off? It just notices when it's on your head?
If I recall correctly there is no off button, and I think it goes to sleep when it detects a magnet or something in the special bra/case it comes with
Oh that thing. It's stupid and ugly
Hopefully the Airpods Max 2 doesn't have to rely on that
i kinda wanna pick up the AirPods Pro 3's
Yeah that part was a dealbreaker for me. Seems like an unforced error
i really need to wait for a sale
i'm still rocking Sony xm3's
They just had a sale
The xm3's and xm4's were genuinely the pinnacle of sony headphones lol. I had the xm4's and now the xm6's and honestly besides the noise cancelling, there's not much of a difference
ye
just slightly sad i didnt get the 4, but honestly, my 3's are still splendid
though i guess i could swap the ear padding sometimes
they start flaking
Rip
i mean, i wore them near daily for hours on end...
summer to winter
i feel like they are allowed to eventually
My XM3s made my ears sweat too much
Replacement pads for xm3 are easy to come by
i know
Official ones?
Still on sale on linsoul aliexpress. But no more 11.11 or Xmas codes
No 3rd party ones like dekoni
I imagine they change sound a lot
how is this a sale
they are more expensive then from Kiwi Ears
i mean would be cool buy
Idk about the leather ones, the suede one did. Suede was more comfortable for daily for me, but less isolation and anc

Hello I need a new mice I broke my middle click on my pulsar x2h and I need to change any advice
Scyrox v8
buy a new x2h if oyu like the x2h
X2H Crazylight
isnt that like the most mid ftip mouse
Xtrfy mz1
It's not a fingertip mouse
It's new light version of X2H
37g
I like it but i want to try a new one Same shape or smaller
The X2H CrazyLight is an ultra-lightweight gaming mouse, boasting an astonishing 37g weight. This one any good
???
its a brick for a ftip mouse
If you like X2H shape then yeah, get X2H Crazylight. Same shape, just lighter - 37g instead of 54g and newer sensor.
Any better
if your pockets are deep and dont mind a cable zaunkoenig if not gwolves has been making really good fingertip mice for a while
Shape wise I dont care I got a lamsu thorn before and Its not the Same shape at all
Any link to see
guys he lasted a total of 14 minutes
AirPods Max good
I love my pair
Just don't wear them for more than 12 hours at a time
don't ask how I know LMAO
oh yeah im def considering them once my xm4s die
yee they are excellent!
Werent you the guy that bought an 80he and then returned it.
Cuz You were gonna be too broke to pay rent
Now you say you're gonna be too broke to pay rent by buying airpods max
stop buying things you can't afford its not good for you
this is a good advice, I have also made the mistake of buying expensive things that I don't really need. I can afford them, but they definitely take a big hit out of my wallet. My problem is that I love technology, but I have to learn to control myself with those expenses.
it becomes more of a dopamine addiction than anything at some point
true, I'm trying to ask myself every time I want to buy something tech whether I really need it or if it's just to show off that I have it.
Most of the time when I have it, I later realize that it doesn't make me that happy.
as I thought it would
Only when I open it; most of the time I don't even use it.
but it's part of the maturity you acquire over the years, to realize that.
Xm6 superiority
Don’t the airpod max have like surprisingly good sound profile
I've heard they're not dissimilar to HD600, which would be pretty swell
I don't like them very much, too bassy
Airpods max so heavy and also getting pretty old have no doubt they'll release a new version at some point soon
Any type of airpods are too big for me 🥀
No
They are like ok as far as ANC headphones go
Which isn't exactly a high bar
Underemphasised upper midrange which can be improved by a setting on iOS
they very good for hitting people
It's still more underemphasised than I'd like
It kind of looks like the Dan Clark Corina
holy fuck, what the fuck is this IEM (Letshuoer Embers)
Would probably sound boring
And weird
@quasi field when did you get into audio?
Yesterday
yes
2020 or 2021
i think it was 2023 for me, I still am getting used to terminology and the technology and interfaces
i know just super basic stuff
but it's fun
A lot of the terminology when used to describe sound is just subjective as well and therefore not necessarily accurate or meaningful
good to know
one of the most confusion part for me is "You need a good dac to get 100% of the IEM/Headphone."
That's typically nonsense since good dac often refers to unquantifiable (not real) metrics. Getting a transparent dac or amplifier costs almost nothing for a consumer these days and has been so for a while. It's a solved part of audio. Entire communities and companies exist on feeding into placebo and eliteism
And people will attribute things to dacs and amplifiers that they simply do not do such as soundstage
waow, so it's just a placebomaxxing
Dacs and amplifiers can of course actually sound different but it will come down to things such as built-in EQ which changes it on purpose, or genuinely just performing poorly like the FiiO Warmer, or poorly matched output impedance but this is never a real thing with all of the devices with super low output impedance which is most of the ones I see people have
I got downvoted on Reddit for saying the Topping L70 can run a Susvara to 117 dB SPL since people want to clutch to their fantasies
moondrop blessing 3s it is
Hmm. Does this mean I can just need to be obsessed over something that can be measured like cirrus hump?
I hope you enjoy it!
thanks
i realized i needed iems cause im getting a perm today and over ear headphones bad for perm
I don't know what the Cirrus hump refers to but if it's anything like the «ESS hump» then no don't worry about it. Being measurable does not make it audible
Human hearing is really bad. It's easy to design electronics with any metrics far below human audibility
Distortion has to be very bad for it to be audible for example
You can find out yourself how sensitive you are to distortion
https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/on-the-distortion-of-cirrus-logic-cs431xx-based-devices-a-comparative-review.63038/ This is what I meant
TL;DR / Changelog
[5/20/25] Eleven DAC/HP amp combo devices adopting either the Cirrus Logic CS43131 or CS43198 were tested, and seven of them were found produce the distortion dubbed a "Cirrus hump." Based on measurements from multiple sources (including this review), a list of...

There's a listening test in that chain where it was found to be audible so it's not good yeah
the nice part about airpods max though is that they sound consistent.
idk what was up with my XM6 but they always sounded super inconsistent
sometimes they would sound super bassy and sometimes they would sound way too bright
its high key annoying, not sure what their adaptive EQ is doing there.
Inconsistent seal?
might be, but I have short hair
and I dont wear glasses
and the earcup is sufficiently deep.
