imagine having money for a GPU that cost as much as a good used car xd
I don't like them either. They feel clunky
i hate mounting them its painfull
I had the Liquid Freezer III and it was horrible to install
painfull???
i got the iii
first install was kinda hard but then i was made aware of the easy method
this one is suck ass
A good used car here costs right around 10k bro 😭
sucks i guess
im not even gaming fuck this AIO
I'm going go get the Noctua 5080 which seems to have an amazing fancurve out of the box
its sucks
It's ok though, small drop in the bucket for me, plus it's already made its ROI with the amount of actual work I've done on it.
Funny that my most expensive pc paid itself off in the shortest amount of time
Please don't tell me you want to buy this
No lol I’m not crazy
he already have one
made in usa sounds scary
If I shell out for a made in USA it’s usually for the warranty if I’m being honest
A box that does nothing audibly different from their $100 ones aside from injecting placebo differently into your brain
Made in USA = $$$$$$
Sure it's nice, but man the labor cost here is insane
Crazy pricey
It's for people with too much money and too little sense
id trust asia more
Personally I'd be embarrassed if I owned that because I invite someone home I'd always image there's a small chance the person knows how stupid buying it is
Lmao
90% if stuff that is made in the USA is just assembled in the USA anyways LMAO
There's a speaker brand in my country that makes really good speakers but what they write is funny and sad copiun
«Conceived in China. Raised by you.»

like everything
«Born in Norway»

Eugh

Born in Norway doesn't even make sense to me. Arguably they are born where they are built. Assembly = sex (China), fully assembled = birth (also China)
It's more like a Norwegian family planned for and requested a Chinese surrogate mother and adopted the child from China
LMAO REAL
The thing about China is that everything is so close to each other in the factory towns
You can get plastic pellets from a refinery and then go down the street to get them injection molded in another factory.
Gang the artisan mousepad came
🔥
I’m enjoying my xsoft
sticks so well to the desk comparing to mid
Yeah I got a 99 mid
I definitely see what they mean by super high stopping power after trying it haha
I had xs zero and imo too soft
Same
My xsoft zero is now a keyboard mat
And I main raiden soft
I literally bought xs s and m
Cuz I got good deal and didn’t know which one to get and sadly no returns
The xsoft was fine until I went to glass pad for a year
After that I couldn't stand xsoft
Raiden soft is nice
Glass pads are nice, if you wear long sleeves
I would still be maining glass had I not developed my tremor
Loooove glass pads
Tremor + about 2 year break from kbm made glass too difficult for me 😭
Rip
Bro is unc frfr
Ima give glass pad another go i think
Nice nice
My mouse control is quite a bit better than when I first came back
Nowhere near pre injury but should be able to use glass again
Lel
Do you always have to wear a sleeve?
nah
i have an ac unit in my room and usually so long as its on i dont really need one
with acception for the very hot humid days
but also, most of the time i would just wear a hoodie instead of a wrist sleeve
I’ve been using glass for quite a while but I still find xsoft really nice
Crinacle just released his first source gear product, and as well as being one of the most powerful portable DAC/amps available, it also performs excellently in both subjective and objective testing!

Remember when not that long ago, people were putting weights in their mice?
Remember when people were putting balls in their mice?
Except there was good reason for ball mice, weights, have never been a good idea.
Resolve reviews the new Meze 99 Classic V2. In this video he goes over the differences between the V2 and the original 99 Classic, and compares it to the Fiio FT1 and a number of other well-known closed-back headphones.

A horrible, audible dip that you can't properly fix with EQ
Makes the headphone an instant non-buy to anybody serious enough about high-fidelity
yeah
It's there on Gadgetry Tech's measurement as well so it's not a unit or rig thing
who thought that would be ok
And he said it's audible to him as a shortfall in tonality
sad
The Meze Audio 99 Classic V2 is an iterative upgrade to the original 99 Classic headphone which has sold for many years now. Although it looks similar at face value, the differences are quite profound. Thankfully Meze Audio kept the price of their latest headphone in line with the original model, while also making several improvements. In thi...
Timestamped
At least it's a dip instead of a peak
This (Sony MDR-Z1R) is much worse than a dip like that
Destructive interference with the resonance frequency of the headphones themselves probably.
Really only a problem with headphones though, larger things that aren't made of stiff or dense materials tend to resonate at lower frequencies than smaller and stiffer things.
a lot of times it's usually just measurement artifacts. The reviewer would usually listen to that frequency to confirm if that dip is real or not.
As long as it's consistent and not a resonance eq can fix it.
It's not an artifact
oof
It shows up on Gadgetry Tech's measurements as well sadly
I end up going to a bunch of isolated test tones and manually setting my EQ for a flat volume on every tone.
It shows me how bad hearing loss is. LOL
@viscid bison I forgot https://wallhack.com/products/sp-005-awakening
My mouse reminding me how old and abused it is... New one on the way. (Also had to resolder the left click twice because I kept breaking it.)
ABS realyl does wear poorly, and the soft-touch stuff wore even more poorly.
my friend got an awekening sora for his first glasspad lol
yuhh I got mine but don’t sweat it, there’ll be many of these overhyped drops from WH. Hopefully they do a collab with Little Thunder, her art style(s) is primed for goon pads. Check out her Insta, I think you’d like
Damn that bare spot! Nicely done
congrats and I'll be sure to check it out
yeah bare spots on both left and right sides, and super shiny on the left and right click, and the wheel rubber is shredded too
And why I'm here.
This Gigabyte Avia Osmium from 2013 is in need of new key caps and stabilizers. The switches are still perfect and the 1 kHz polling rate and anti-roloover is nice.
I'll use it at the office.
But the 80HE is going to be a massive upgrade.
pretty sure those are ABS keycaps, based on what happened to the D key.
or they're just PC
they're white plastic with black paint.
or dye sub, or whatever? I have no idea. Not the greatest.
Saving the planet by not being wasteful ❤️
Admittedly, I can't claim that I was being noble about saving the planet for my motivation to not be wasteful. I'm just generally not wasteful.
I bought two sets of keycaps for the 80HE. (BOW and WOB PBT doubleshots)
I'm going to have mostly the BOW for alphas and the WOB for the rest on the Wooting 80HE white case.
And then use the inverse of that for replacements on this Osmium.
Both keyboards get a custom colorway, no waste. But I only just now thought of the planet.
The Pro X Superlight 2 DEX is here to replace dead mouse.
I didn't think that I'd feel so much of a difference in response but the weight savings is noticeable and enjoyable.
what did you have before if a gpx feels light?
G703 weighing in at 90g.
And X Superlight Pro 2 DEX is 50g

That looks edible
just like tidepods very tasty
so much accessories
are those... stickers with a hole pattern
what
these
grip tape
I don’t think it’s that uncommon for griptape to have slight dimples and patterns for extra grip
The white dots on it are just printed design though
I have done that to my 5090, scary but fun
I might shunt mod it to get even more voltage out of it
but not my founders edition card though, probably some gigabyte 5090 or something
Well.. My 5700xt is now a legacy gpu https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/gpu-drivers/new-amd-driver-snubs-radeon-rx-5000-6000-gpus-with-latest-updates-also-disables-usb-c-functionality-on-rx-7900-series
It's lacking hardware for some of the new vulkan extensions (mainly av1 but I'm not sure if any of the others have a hardware requirement) but you'll still get regular driver updates
Guess I can't "enjoy" BF6 properly then with my hardware, the Godot editor in the Portal SDK only renders exploding vertices in the 3D view.
Unsurprisingly, works perfectly fine on Linux
what you got?
6700 XT
Bf6 ran OK on my 5700xt :p
Yeah performance is fine but I'd like the editor to render correctly
like this fr
running decent on my 6900xt
avg like 170-180fps
some maps i get 220-250
1% lows are like 120 tho 💀
1440p with balanced dlss
no FG?
No
not horrible
I usually play BF6 at lower FPS than that, usually I do 120FPS rofl
cauz 4K with DLAA looks heavenly.
overkill settings as well
Yeah mines all low
Whenever I upgrade next itll be to do 240 stable on 1440
1% lows of 200+ would be nice
Or even better
wonder how my pc would do if i werent using high graphics
Nice
tbh BF6 still looks very good on low settings with DLSS performance
yeah it does
No wonder they have an RTX 3060 as a minimum spec
yeah im not exactly complaining
GRANTED
i did need an fps config to get this fps
on 1440
otherwise id be getting 100-150
Oh?
User.cfg for Frostbite or an Nvidia control panel thing?
turns some things down further than you can in actual settings
although i had to turn 1 thing back up because it made the bloom way to bad
that setting did give me like 20-30 more fps off tho
fr33thy runs a paid optimization service for pc's alongside free game cfgs (when games allow it)
nice
thats cool
They should name it blitz or Beep
3I/Atlas, an homage to our new alien overlords. Or something long and confusing that monitors tend to have
ofc dell raised the price on the monitor I want by $80 today, I sure wonder how much the price will drop for black friday
10 dolla
It's a deal to them
It’s still cheapest on amazon de but it was a bit closer until yesterday
480eur for the aw2725d on amazon de and about 630eur on proshop and dell in sweden
Is there a hardware difference between the 60v2 and 80? I’m planning on buying and enjoy both formats but just curious if one has more features than the other?
No

Anybody up for a challenge? Looking for a mouse for under $100 CAD. I play FPS games, I personally prefer a heavier mouse as I have shaky hands and I’m bit twitchy. I find the weight helps keep my hand steady. I do enjoy having a thumb rest on it as well. I use a palm grip and enjoy the shape and feel of a Corsair M65 Ultra Wireless. (I got it for $50 CAD by RMAing a Katar XT Pro).
G502 or HoF Tactical comes to mind, for your specific requirements
Thanks I’ll look into it

"That said, the question is: do we really need a 1000Hz monitor? The simple answer is NO. 1000Hz is just too high to be perceptible to the human eye. There are debates about whether refresh rates higher than 240Hz or 360Hz are even beneficial at all, but for most, these aren't. A 1000Hz display is therefore pointless, but that's not the only concern, since reaching 1000 FPS is the most challenging task."
Awful journalism that reads like a Reddit post
Should I just ignore this entire website?
maybe 😭
Are they wrong?
i mean the human eye cant perceive more than 30fps anyway
oh ye mb
He confidently says it's too high to be perceptible to the human eye without providing any argument
It reads like your average Reddit post whenever high refresh rates are brought up with no understanding of how motion performance works
I'd put forth that it's on the manufacturer to prove that such extremes do matter, to counter basic common sense that it doesn't
What do you mean by matter
im sure that it will be easily noticeable compared to the refresh rates we have today
I'm looking forward to the BlurBusters blind test that will hopefully shut these websites up about this stuff
As in, perceptible
I personally can tell the difference between 60hz and 90hz, and if I really focus I can even see the benefit of 165hz
I know for myself that I cannot see the difference at anything greater than that
im sure you can
It will always depend on what the refresh rate it is being compared to is. 1 000 Hz will not look different from 950. But it will look different from 240
At Gamescom we had a 600hz monitor that was running at 600+fps and it looked fine, but if I didn't know it said 600hz on the box then I would never have guessed
That was LCD, wasn't it? It's the biggest difference on oled
No, I don't think it would. Not to my tired, old eyes
Was it running the ufo test or a game? It's easiest to see with the blurbusters test where the speeds are set instead of super variable like in gaming
if you spent enough time between all the media sources you can cherry pick some useful info out of wccftech, but generally not the first or best one i would read anything from.
It's best read several and come to your own conclusions always, especially if you doN't already have the proper locations locked down.
Is wccftech one of those websites Quin dislikes
A game, because that's.... the point
Of course, but blurbusters will be more immediately noticeable for people that aren't sure what the difference is meant to look like
This past weekend I played Detroit: Become Human.
When I started the game up, it defaulted to capping the FPS at 30. I was like "oh hell nah" and maxed it out to being capped at 60fps.
This is far less than my computer could run it, but did that matter? No. I enjoyed the game tremendously, and after leaving the settings menu, never once thought about refresh rate.
Most people clearly do not understand what the visual difference is between high and very high refresh rates which is why they simplify it all to being «smoother» even though the point at which the image stops updating in a stuttery manner to our eyes is at around 100 Hz or so on oleds
I didn't enjoy the game that much because it makes you do menial tasks all the time like lifting a wine bottle up, taking the cap off and pouring it after pressing various button combinations
We might not "see above 30 fps" but we are very sensitive to frame pacing, and jittery frames where things display between 45 fps and 120fps, for example, will still throw us off heavily.
It's a far more complex topic than just frames per second.
The fact of the matter is that increasing refresh rate over a bare minimum suffers from diminishing returns. For me, that line is very securely before 240hz and probably below 120hz
yes cause eyes dont work like monitors or cameras
but mark..... big number go up, monkey brain happy
i need more hz
Smooth and consistent 60 fps is much better than jittery 90-240 fps
480hz not enough
There are diminishing returns but as non-Wooting Mark said they curve really far
My 240 Hz oled still has noticeable blur
Yeah, this is something I've been noticing more recently as an OLED enjoyer. VRR flicker is noticeable and outside of a competitive title, I'll take a stable 60 FPS just to avoid the flicker.
60 FPS with good frame pacing, at least for me, is fine for a story game... which is pretty much all I play these days.
Yeah, the VRR flicker is real, even with GSYNC/Freesync and a strong card.
dont use VRR
The VRR does reduce tearing though.
i got no tearing
my front side button is mushy 🥀 its so over
At 4k resolution, with RT and Path Tracing in Cyberpunk, I definitely need VRR enabled.
(Or I need to disable RT hehe)
ended up getting a fiio k11 for about half the price of a new one, hope my aliexpress cable for my headphones comes soon
Just vsync at those high refresh rates
The next slot to display a frame is so soon..
goated
although i still got some weird audio issues on windows
maybe gotta reinstall
@hazy fiber genuinely the VV3P stays king imo
Not without PMM mod kit 😭 I use Crazylight now
no clue, why would that matter
It's probably bad if he does
no comment on that, but if you care the earlier response is the experienced answer i can give
Wccftech frequently reposts other people's stuff.
They don't really offer much value.
Legit might buy the mini later this year and have two VV3P
One for gaming and one for grinding
there is already 780Hz OLEDs LMAO
lmao why?
what is a real resolution then?
1440p+
720p is deffo a real and legitament res
no
then just say high res
1080p is considered high res idk man
at least in most industries its considered high res
1440p is usually considered ultra HD
??
?????
Ultra HD is definitely 4K+ marketing term
ye
1440p is like Quad HD or 2k
720p*
Not 2k!!!!!!!
then there is 2.5k which is the 16:10 version of 1440p
Crt monitors got so many pixels
2,5k is a much better term for 2560x1440p
2k does not fit it. It's brainlessly applied
I'm not saying the marketing is technically correct but it is advertised as 2k occasionally
Sadly...
Looking at BenQ
are we okay with 5 and 6 k
«true» 4k is a 17:9 resolution
But since most consumer displays are 16:9, the resolution is slightly different horizontally
Yeah cinema it's 4096x2160 and at 16:9 it's 3840x2160 so sub 4k
That's why UHD works as a name
thats why i call it 3.75k
I call it 3,840k
do you call 4k 4,096k
Yes

meanwhile no tips
oh wow that's actually in good shape

Huh, a more relaxed hd600 for $100.
Also I might get hd560 or something similar as a beater headphone.
Something for me to bring around without much care especially since it's very close with hd490 just with different treble.

The joys of disposable income
well keyboard has to move down a solid 10cm now so I suppose I’ll have to get a new desk aswell 👍
My last keyboard was a Anne pro II and I upgraded to a wooting 60he is that a w or l
Anne pro 2 was pretty nice at the time. But yeah the wooting is better in almost every way
guys i just pre ordered the wooting 60he v2 as a person who mostly plays fortnite was it a good decision or nah?
also should i get the viper v3 pro or the logitech gpro x superlight 2?
I’ve got no idea about Fortnite but the Viper V3 Pro is an absolutely brilliant mouse.
Which one
Hedd D1
That's too much bass for you? That's what I call bass-shy
That little bass sounds unnatural to me
ok thx
Both mouses are amazing. Only issue I have with razer is that their software is super bloated
whatver shape you think is more comfortable to you.
both are good, but it really comes down to your preference with the shape
I prefer logi just cause I hate Razer software
Viper V3 Pro easily
@hazy fiber
If you care about battery life the superlight should be better but other than that they're both fine
If you get the superlight you beed to replace the stock feet though
If you don't really care about battery life at all the xm2w 4k should be better
And if you want something cheaper you might be able to get a lamzu maya x for a decent price
Fuck yeah, I was given a pile of Unifi APs for free and one of them works 😤
Which ap
It's sooo good battery wise
It makes my g703 look so bad battery wise
I just dumped my literally worn out G703 and moved to the new x pro superlight 2 dex (because naming skus need to be ridiculous) and am very happy with it
But what's the deal with the feet?
They're all AC Pros (4g/5g)
Not bad
I prefer Zowie. No software needed, solid scroll wheel (had two Deathadder V3 Pro get the same scroll wheel issue within a year). Built like a tank, and the IMO best ergo shape there is on the EC. Very good glides.
Got a number of these scattered around the house, has been flawless coverage around the house and garage for years now. Just wish they had PoE switches when I was building my home network, now they do though. Just waiting for the right time for upgrade.
Yeah I've found them really reliable and effective. PoE is wonderful to keep things clean too.
copying ny setup i see
I regret the lr :p
Pro is better apparently
Do you also have a cloud gateway max and a usw lite 16 poe?
im looking at a DM pro max
Isn't that kinda outdated now?
wut lol no
Oh that is the new one
yes
It's really expensive
yeah but it also covers all my needs in 1 swoop
the DM SE could have also done POE for me but id rather have another 1.5gbps routing capacity
Hm. Cloud gateway max and a switch does the same
Sdd tray
and since i wanna invest in some cameras soon the dm pro/se/pro max are a way better optioon for me
i get 128gb ssd and 2 3.5" bays
i think the ssd could be swapped if im brave enough to open it
Gateway max has an ssd slot. Works fine. Low power consumption as well
eh the low power isnt smth im interested in really as the DM pro max also idles at low power
But with spinny drives?
They will never idle with cameras
Cloud Gateway Fiber has built in storage. And 10gig in, 2.5gig switch
And when writing?
read line 2
22tb?
Also a Nas then
actually i havent checked if it can be used as a nas
i know the NVR works for the cams
no i want high res
their cams can do 4k (i want 1080p prob)
and a few rooms
- balcony and maybe front door if i can get a nice angle
With 4 cameras I have data back till 24th oktober on a 1tb ssd
2 g5 bullets 1 g4 instant 1 g4 doorbell
Doorbell actually goes back to sept 6th
So uh.. 22tb is very much overkill 🙂
24th only
but that gives me hope i could do a month on 4k even
i also overbuilt before where for 2 pcs and like 3 phones or smth i has a usg-4-pro, 24 port switch, 2 APs and such
that setup i used for like 6yrs or so
but i also never reached the max use until i moved to to NL and can do more stuff now
I believe they have a storage calculator
yeah i could do a month in 4k
also nice to know they have a calculator
good to know for when im done with building a nas
The UniFi smart doorbell (and chime) is really cool considering it's actually locally hosted/stored unlike basically every other mainstream option
TFW people unironically buy a Ring doorbell
thing with unifi is that you need either a UniFi Cloud Gateway or a UnifiProtect NVR
8?!
There's a couple of options indeed.
true
Too many tbh
i have a corridor i need 2 in alone and a bigger room i calculated with 3 in here cause its really shit to get good angles to see much
I am tempted to add UniFi Physical access control to all the outside doors of the house
I.. Just use keys
Why are you surveiling your entire home?
2 outside, 1 in the kids room and the doorbell.
need to keep in mind their context that they may not live in the best neighborhood.
To catch on video all the whacky shit his cats do
real
And all the nasty shit they do themselves :p
if the LPL taught me anything, every type of physical key can be bypassed in seconds
I'd be very uncomfortable with cameras in my house
For a very skilled lockpick yes..
and that is scary.
He's almost inhumanly good with picks.
Just having something that can survive a kick is more important than a pick. Very few burglars actually have picks. Most are doing mule kicks. (unless you're dealing with padlocks or bike locks)
The best defense is to not be the most attractive target
and if you care about pick resistance, then being bump and rake resistance is enough
because virtually zero burglars are master picks
I already use metal doors and door frames LMAO
the police cant raid my house through the front door if they tried LMAO
and yeah, not profiling your belongings (and therefore not being attractive as a target) is obviously the real key
The window it is then
true that LMAO. but they all have glass breakage sensors on them.
That's why I don't live on the ground floor - ain't no way some thief who is too lazy to hold down a real job is going to climb all those stairs
But in most regions the burglary attacks are:
- mule kick, walk in, close door behind
- drill the lock
- window entry (this is more rare than you think).
.....
way down on the list are rakes/bumps
and virtually nonexistent are pick attacks
garage door entry is also a thing
folks that gap them in the hot months are vulnerable and shouldn't do that
around here, we had folks with small children (like 4 or 5) who would send their small children to squeeze under gapped garage doors and then hit the door opener in the garage, then mom and dad would drive a van into the garage, close the door, loot the electronics and jewelry in the house, load the van, open the garage again, and drive off with the munchkin kid.
folks thought they were okay with small gaps in the doors... If a child's head can fit, they're vulnerable.
I just let the HVAC fan run every 30 minutes instead of keeping a gap in the garage
and it leaves no signs of forced entry, and doesn't make noise or take much time, so neighbors and passers-by don't notice
yes
actually cause idk how they do some shit while we sleep
I have bengals. I have no clue how they do some shit they do when I watch them do it.
My anxiety feels this
I hate living on ground floor
After 2am my cats pretty much settle till around 4:30-5am and they snuggle up to me. I know because I sadly wake up every hour or two
well having lived in some pretty shitty flats that did get broken into we had someone climb up to our balcony and get in through the door up there that someone left unlocked and we had someone attempt to crowbar one of the downstairs windows open (unsuccessfully)
Wlmouse phantom @viscid bison
at first I thought not another WL with a furry dongle and then realized the lack of holes. If only I could read mandarin to make sense of the specs; looks nice though
why is my dongle mad at me
Looks like vv3 tbh
so it has voice recognition, hey furry mice... make my sniping better in BF6
Viper/GPX/Maya X
my steadying is left shift
in what game?
bf6
wait no
mb not aim steadying
rangefinder (on sniper)
the rangefinder keybind is B iirc
not left shift
by default
yeah and so is fire select
unless you messed up your bindings
only when you arent ADS
when you are ADS it will be used for changing the range
or using the laser rangefinder if you hold it
i was so confused why my smg kept switching to semi-auto
while ADS
yeah, you press B while ADS to change the range of the scope
ik that
i changed it to shift so it would do thst automatically when i steadied the aim
and whenever i swap to a different gun (aka an smg) it keeps switching between semi, burst, and full auto whenever i sprint
ok so, you need to change the binding to just set rangefinder and not change fire mode/set scope range/set laser rangefinder options
ngl i might not use the rangefinder cause i cant hit shit with it 💀
I like to use the laser rangefinder
allows me to hit pretty consistent headshots
esp when you go to like 200M+
ive used the sniper for maybe.. 10minutes out of my 20h of playtime
the Mini Scout (based on The Q The Fix) is very broken in BF6
no, most maps in BF6 favor a very aggressive sniper type playstyle lol
except maybe blackwell fields and firestorm
grind(or pay) for the Mini Scout and the 10x scope, the ADS is so fast you won't really need the rangefinder. Just spam and the kills will come
idk maps by name, i just queue and scroll till it starts lol
I love the Mini Scout
although they are 100% going to nerf it
even though the only issue with the Mini scout is that it has no sweet spot, that is it's only debuff
and it doesnt do as much damage as the other snipers past like 200m
yeah I can't decide if it's better than the PSR, both pretty good
but you trade that off with a very fast ADS, movement, and fire rate
it's like the SVK but its an actual sniper which makes it broken LMAO

I only use it past 300m
250m and below im far more consistent having it zeroed at 100
For the very first time, we’re sharing an exclusive first look at one of our own creations: the grell OAE2.
In this video, Jermo Köhnke presents an early production model of our newest open-back headphone, designed for pure and emotional sound.
Engineered in Germany, the OAE2 unites exceptional craftsmanship, modular design, and our unique F...
hmm, depending the freq, I might like this.
~500 euro.
I had the first one which was horrible. The tonality was really bad and worst of all it was hard to get satisfying results with EQ because of how much the sound would dramatically change based on how the headphones were worn. I sold it within my first week
And no there was zero sense of speaker-like soundstage/imaging. It just sounded like a bad headphone
Hmmm I shouldn't be spending more money but like...
@amber beacon cameo
My Burson amp popped out the magic smoke, anyone got a good suggestion for a Focal utopia?
schiit mjolnir
same driver config as Astral but with branded driver.
very very similar tuning to astral. @abstract warren your prev iem now got a cousin with BMW
at $450... Hmm, not sure about the price.
How’d the pro end up turning out?
similar, but more full bodied fidelity imo with added power, but thats probably bc they fit in 10 drivers in there.
10 driver is nice
Should I upgrade my tops to the pro
in the coming year?
they will have a slight different tuning, but honestly you might have better quality if you saved for MK4s if you wanted a better upgrade path
might be more of a side grade
my left IEM broke for my OG top which is why im not using them anymore, but i miss them so much
@plain schooner TL;DR they will be good, but going from Top to Top Pro wont feel as impactful as going from a non Top IEM to the pro
if you wanna drop on a pair I think saving for the MK4 makes sense
It’s gonna be a while yeah
A YouTuber a follow made a “tier” list of iems
its basically for the tuning: Astrals --> Top Pro --> Monarch Mk4
thats how I discovered the OG hehe
@plain schooner
fuwee, monarch mark 4, unobtanium for me
damn looks sick
yeah im personally torn if i would go MK4
top matches top pros faceplate but the bottom red/gold/purple is sick af
I really want that MK4 rumble mode tho
I wonder what they taste like
you should try the tea pros
great crunch experience
I will if you kindly donate them to my possession for testing
for sure
I’ll probably upgrade to the Mk4 sometime next year
whaow! where is this from?
rawinput setups part 2
pinguefy said your setup has too much stuff on the desk to play fps on😭

oh boy loll
they are awesome peeps glad to see my setup there
atleast they gave it s tier
compared to optimum
il give crunch when mango he come out
ill wait a lil longer
it's okay, you'll come around
i got this in my cart rn
nice nice
thats probably the best price you'll get
bro consoom more you need dac+amp and cable
no no, that's all you need
he already has those, (one included with IEM), and the DAC+AMP being the first item at the top
Soon™️
ig lekker v1s will do for now
One should be shrouded in engulfing darkness before they can witness the spark of the light piercing through.
im a bit dense what u say
Mangohe good
better be
Crunchier than raptor v2, magnet infused with crunchy material
You’d be better off with Beyerdynamic DT1990s v2 or Beyerdynamic 990 pro x or Beyerdynamic dt 900 pro x you won’t have to deal with any of the discomfort you get in your ears with IEMs having hard plastic in your ears they Beyerdynamic sound way better and have a wider sound stage and gives you a more immersive and realistic sound and you really feel like you’re in the game and they are very light and forget they are even on your head and can hear yourself when you’re talking so you’re not yelling really loudly compared to IEMs which isolate all outside sound.
i dont really mind the feeling of having iems in my ears as i use airpods a lot and currently also using iems
i also prefer to just not use headphones
Iem is fine comfort wise, although i main headphone at home I still use IEM when my ears misbehave.
Also like. Beyer treble could be horrible for him
You should try the 64 audio U12T heard those are the most comfortable IEMs out and you can scan your ears and get them custom fit to your ears so they fit perfect not too big not too small and don’t fall out and have no sound leak cuz the seal on them is really good and increases the noise cancellation on them.
dude those are 6x the price of the iems im looking at
im not even buying it rn over a $20 potential extra discount
those headphones are double, almost 2 and 1/2 times the price of the astral iems
I bought a demo aw2725df because proshop offered 20% extra discount, I could return it if the aw2725d I was originally planning on goes crazy low during bf
pray half the pixels are dead
Wouldn't say beyerdynamic is what I would be recommending either, there are much better headphones for less money. Beyers have a weird curve and are super bright
if i didnt have a budget for what id spend ill ball out but theres a reason i selected astrals
Beyerdynamics are usually very outdated recommendations. Especially DT990 etc.
Lol
Would still be cool to try it someday
that is an ear piercing treble holyyyyy
Yeah and good luck fixing it with EQ without just doing a wideband lowering that includes surrounding frequencies which might hurt overall tonality by lowering ones that aren't too bright. It's a headphone I consider unfixable. Probably mainly popular due to amateur studio YouTubers or gamers and the wide availability
I personally mainly use HD650 most of the time, probably my favorite 'standard use' headphones that I can plesantly use without an EQ
I also have Audeze LCD-5, but those were exorbitantly expensive lmao.
I would just EQ the LCD-5 and never use the HD650 again
Well okay realistically I would just sell the overly expensive headphones and get something cheaper
Or maybe buy two 8341A
well it was already bought, lmao
and I like them so they are a keep
what headphones do you use
They are quite sturdy thought.
Hd490 pro
i got the sennheiser HD 560s
but its a love hate relationship
Mine is all love, can't go a day without 10 min music listen with it
It's right on my preference lmao
i'll give yours a try one of these day
the hd 560s feels like cheap fucking plastic on my head
and sometimes gives me jaw and head pressure
some sennheiser headphones have very high clamping pressures yeah
From the graph, imagine hd560s but with more refinement and an option to give it bass through a headpad swap.
although I dont get that on the HD650, which is nice
maybe mine not broken in yet
only had it for two months
they do have a break in period.
like 7 motnhs ?
Gonna get 560s someday. I wanna use it as a beater headphone
for me it was more like one year
you can probably speed it up with a headphone stand
hopefully you have a better experience than me
im switching between iems and this and having a rough time
some days
560S better imo. Btw you can lower the clamp by pulling the headband a bit. Though don't blame me if you do it too hard and it snaps
yeah feels cheap and probably would snap it in half
right now im trying to find dual head band
the plastic is pretty good, as long as you arent unreasonable with the force they wont break
true
if i snap it i have another reason to buy a new pair of headphones
just use a hammer on it
Meze Empyrian time
dual headband is very nice, my LCD-5 is dual headband and its the most comfortable headphones I have.
no one remembers what happened to logitech gxp
and it weighs less than 500 grams

i had a steel series one even though audio was meh comfort wise it was amazing
but its also steel series
They sound much worse than the 560S imo (and I think he would agree), but they are comfortable and luxurious
Capra strap exist if you want to add the suspension headband on 560s
😭
Lmao
you do not want to know how much I spent on the LCD-5
how much?
Hd490 is all you(I) need. Anything more headphone wise to me is a luxury
like 4000 used LMAO
usd
friend had them and needed cash, so bro sold it to me. they were lightly used and I like them a lot.
What a nice friend (you both).
Are you using an overpriced amplifier and dac too?
no not really, I am still trying to find a decent DAC/AMP combo LMAO
JBS Labs Element IV is fantastic
ooh! nice and small!
Looks nice imo, has a large upward facing knob that is both fun and comfortable to use, has built-in parametric EQ and loudness correction that you can configure all in a browser and has it stored on the device akin to Wooting's browser software
And of course it sounds completely transparent and has plenty of power
nice, I will consider!
thats 25% above msrp?
last I checked they were 4500 on their website
dunno where you got 3500 from.
last time i checked (1 minute ago) they were 2999
wait nvm im looking at the wrong headphones
rofl, happens
They have went up around 15 000 NOK ($1500) since they released for me
anyway what difference is there with these and some random 100$ buck pair of headphones on the store shelf
There is no inherent difference between headphones based on price
There is really nothing about the LCD-5 that justifies its price of course
You can easily get headphones that are much cheaper such as below $200 that you might find much better sounding
audiophiles are under some consuming virus
Though «random $100 buck pair of headphones on the store shelf» would essentially just be a guess and so many would no doubt be terrible. This is why online measurements (and yes measurements, not people just yapping) are so important and useful for finding out what is actually good or not before investing in it
But have you ever listened to oxygen-free copper cables?
Nope
Also remember about golden-plated USB cables, you don't want any interference in your digital data
my keyboard cable has gold plated usb
Ah, so it must sound really good
It is
sometimes the the inputs happen by me just thinking about them without moving my finger
Imagine not having a 2 000 pound ethernet filter to widen the soundstage, lower the noise, increase the analogue sound and tighten the bass
https://youtu.be/5KsPs91_7nc
I was challenged to test these Ethernet filters after someone claimed, “They’re better than the Network Acoustics Muon Pro.”
Since the Muon Pro is my reference filter, I had to check them out.

Oh and lower jitter of course. Always the jitter boogeyman
what the hell is this
if you want truly interference free signal transfer just use good ol optical fiber LMAO
Pure nonsense just like anything shown on that channel. His entire gimmick is rejecting the idea of blind testing to justify the supposed subtle or major differences all the various electronic devices make on the sound whether they are digital or not
Does it help with bufferbloat though
You know, after all we are still in the 90s and routers still don't have 2GB of RAM
why are there people in the comments saying its great etc
Because they are misled
Most of the audiophile hobby is just thriving on bullshit and so I don't like the idea of considering myself one
This is me fr...
I care about high-fidelity, which means accuracy. I don't care about «high-end» because high-end does not mean high-fidelity
Yes
And thousand dollar cables with random batteries attached that aren't even connected to anything
And bags of crystals attached to plugs to remove unwanted fantastical energies
They are basically just the Christian priests that show up in Conjuring movies to bless the house and banish the demon but with zero of the coolness factor or usefulness

Lol
they should consider moving to a location thats in accordance with the leylines
Build your own power grid to isolate the bad frequencies
mage summoning rituals might interfere with electric signals
It's just as bad as those people who think Bluetooth, WiFi, and cellular connections cause headaches etc
Anybody who buys this should be forced to listen to their favourite tracks via YouTube Music and $20 earphones.
This has two good audiophile cliches packaged into one
It caters to both beginners and professionals, offering flexible power options and advanced noise reduction features
The noise boogeyman
With its professional hardware and software design, it delivers a sound quality that rivals traditional analog or vinyl records
Thinking analogue formats are higher quality than digital
Me enjoying Dolby Atmos music on Apple Music via AirPods Pro 3

Audiophiles would hate me
Because many will cling to stereotypes and outdated ideas
Wireless automatically bad
Apple automatically bad
Gaming headset automatically bad
I could fuck with a Sonos setup to be honest
Rather than an AV receiver setup for a similar price
I think the dumbest one is people who think higher hz is stupid as well
For displays?
Yeh!
What is it where people say there’s no point going past 120
I wouldn't call it the dumbest one since it's usually born out of marketing skepticism (something audiophiles need more of)
They're wrong but I don't find it too dumb
Compare it to how streaming websites or websites to buy music files from will try to sell you 192 kHz music over lower sample rates. That is stupid of course because 192 kHz isn't just pointless but it can even be harmful
I didn’t know that
So 480 Hz monitors will to many just seem like a higher but undetectable number made for marketing hype
24/192 music downloads and why they make no sense
https://people.xiph.org/~xiphmont/demo/neil-young.html
16/48 is more than enough
Good luck with reproducing analog 24-bit, not sure if it's even possible with current technology
Not to mention that people won't hear a difference between 16 and 24 anyway
And 192000 samples per second is just a waste of space
I haven't seen a single dac capable of 24 bits
The very best ones I see measured are in the 22 bit range I think
But yeah 24 bits is a waste of space anyway

I found 21 at most effective
Where 19 is already so precise to be used in cardiac diagnostics
When I download music at 24 bit 192 kHz (I only do this when I want a DSD master etc.) I downsample it to 16 bit 44,1 kHz with the slowest compression to save the most space
Well actually for 192 kHz I do 48 kHz, 44,1 kHz is for 176,4 kHz which is usually what the DSD masters I download are converted to
DSD is kind of meh as a format. But some of the masters are excellent. Always converted it to flac
I just rip stuff off of Tidal
And for some music not there there are CD rips
Most of my music is the original CD release of whatever album it is, some are a specific DSD remaster if I like the sound more, a few are modern remasters that I enjoy more than the original ones
My #1 problem with streaming is being forced to listen the most recent release of an album which is often bad sounding
My problem with streaming is that my favourite songs just disappear because of publisher squabbles
And it happened multiple time already
So yeah, I may use Tidal to find new stuff I like, but my collection is local and not touchable by any greedy music exec
This too
Every streaming site I use have inadequate libraries
And no not every artist is super obscure or something like that. Massive Attack just recently left Spotify for example and I listen to them
That was in political protest however, not a licencing issue
airpods dont support lossless tho
silly you
its just noise why would you ever get attached to somethig like that? Just go to work bro. There is money to be made and beer to be drank!

Lossless matters only 1% as much as how good the headphones are
Every so often publishers will change the metadata for something on Apple Music and it'll fuck with my library.
Usually splitting an album into two albums

so ive heard but its just a waste of data to stream lossless with wireless heaphones is it not?
Or the randomly delisting an album for a day or two to relist under slightly different metadata so you have to re-add the tracks etc
Maybe the answer is to just buy CDs again
Going to become like Hideo Kojima and wall-to-wall physical media
One of the reasons why I stopped using streaming services was because of the awful names of songs and albums. I faintly remember Black Sabbath's self-titled album having song names like Black Sabbath (2009 Remaster) [2014 Remastered] and stuff
I desperately want to be in control of the media I use. Getting to name them what I want and also to use high quality album covers etc.
Organising and perfecting them is too much fun for me to ever go back to streaming
For one thing I quite like remasters of 80s albums
When there were the times that during mastering separate instruments were assigned to separate left-right channels to make them sound more "hi-fi"
Yeah, I do enjoy hearing drums only in my left ear and main guitar only in right
Wasn't that a 50s/60s thing not an 80s thing
80s rock is full of this stuff
Beatles albums have the old school stereo mixes where everything is either hard-panned left/right or completely in the middle
Sounds fine on my speakers but on headphones not using crossfeed it sucks
I'm pretty much an album listener rather than playlists of assorted tracks, I'm probably already at the threshold that just buying the albums from local music stores would save me money.
Even if Apple One is included in my cellular contract until my renewal next September.
If Tidal wasn't 2.5€ with my brother's student discount I'd probably wouldn't use it either
I used to buy albums and then just rip other stuff as 320kbps MP3 from Google Play Music
Back before they killed that service.
I used to buy albums digitally but that was a huge huge mistake. Now I just download for free which is the wisest choice
I've lost access to downloading several of the albums I bought years ago due to licence issues etc.
You will own nothing etc.
My collection is some Final Fantasy XIV albums (although those are Blu-ray discs with a network transfer function for 320kbps MP3s), the first 6 DragonForce albums, and the first 4 Steel Panther albums.
Totally not a PC gear conversation
Most of my physical collection are vinyl records, not CDs... even if one vinyl record is about the cost of 5 CDs
I sold my vinyl records
I have a decent vinyl collection and none of them have ever been played 👀
I have a decent little one also, except I play most of mine
I buy CDs and rip 'em to my NAS. "Ownership" is nice.

Fiio JT7.
top band looks really similar to hd490 pro lmao. At least it can also fold like that.
But uhhh. Too much treble for me.
hd490 is just at my limit of treble with mixing pad, so anything higher I'll feel discomfort.
JT7 is $110
I guess, close with ft1 pro in comes to tuning but ft1 pro has a lot less dips
I feel like this better as a $200 or even $300 where they can afford to do more refinement on the tuning. Make it like, an FT2 pro.
I find that treble unacceptable regardless of price. It's lo-fi
giga shout lol
i wonder if they are better than ft1
idk how to interpret that graph thingy
It has low quality upper-mids and treble
Here's another headfone with lo-fi upper-mids/treble
Here's lo-fi versus hi-fi. Notice how the green line is far smooth with less sharp holes or peaks from 2k to 6k on the horizontal line? That's what you always want. It's more important than adherence to a target imo because bad peaks and dips can often not be fixed with EQ like the Sony has, while a smooth fr that adheres or not to anything can easily be shaped however you want. You can mostly ignore that they look «bad» at even higher frequencies like this, that's just what happens to very high frequency audio passing through ear canals
That lo-fi headphone is currently $1899 currently btw. So it is definitely high-end. I find it striking and comfortable but ultimately not good sounding and the horrible resonance (the sharp peak) it has at just above 3k is unfixable
So keep in mind that high-end does not make something hi-fi. HD560S is a much better headphone
Holyyyyy
The z1r was pretty disappointing. I still won’t get rid of them though 😊
It was both disappointing to me and not. I knew of the measurements when I bought mine years ago and so buying it was stupid of me. But back then I was still in my audiophool stage from using Headfi and listening to shitty YouTubers (Joshua Valour, Z Reviews, Passion for Sound etc.) so I was stupid enough to buy it. But that was the last bad headphone I ever bought so I guess it was a necessary step into enlightenment
I think part of the reason why Passion for Sound eventually made a video on the Z1R was because I used to tell him how excited I was to receive mine 🤔
(it took me 8 months to receive mine from when I ordered them)
We were both there together then. I also weaned myself off of both the creators (Z reviews mainly) and chasing the audio dragon.
I still love great audio but have learned to be more cautious. Once burned twice shy and all
I think Passion for Sound is a nice kind man
But I think his content is mostly nonsense
But I liked his style much more than Z reviews
Z Reviews is not funny and his videos are unwatchable
I shudder to think of listening to Z again
After my long journey through headphone shit my favorite pair is still my first - hd600
I still do use some others, but it’s hard to convince yourself that you’ve got it good when there’s bigger price tags out there
Makes complete sense
They are mostly very well controlled with a great tonality everywhere (except for the bass imo)
It's expected that so many like them
Yup, not perfect but pretty great. Also they fit my dome perfectly which is surprisingly uncommon in my experience. Don’t go anywhere and don’t clamp.
One of my favorite sounding pairs that I can almost never use is the HD25-2
I have only listened to them at stores
Absolutely clamps the shit outta my ears, don’t know how anybody can wear them for more than 30m at a time
But they sound very fun
Maybe one of the best parts of the z1r too- so light and comfy
One pair I liked fairly well but just missed for me was the Focal Clear. they’re so heavy 😩
Almost makes me want to tear them apart and try to rehouse the drivers
I think it's a high-end headphone that gets looks, comfort and build all correct which is rare imo
Focals are no-go for me sadly. The driver can't handle enough volume
Huh I never hit distortion issues on them
I have to EQ the bass. And so it's easy to have peaks into 100 something dB which makes the driver bottom out and make that awful noise
That would turn me off too, just didn’t experience it
Focal drivers clipping is a very common complaint about them
It's more likely to happen if you EQ
For bass I prefer around 2 dB above Harman
Bass has the highest energy in music usually, well above what we listen to in the more sensitive higher frequencies. And short peaks in audio can be around 20 dB above average at most I think
So reaching 110 dB+ does happen, and is why distortion measurements need to go high
I'm basic and if I do EQ it's probably getting closer to Harman and not much past if any. I mainly do it for the truly anemic pairs that I love so much like the 600 and 800s.
The way I'm listening right now as I type this would have a Focal clipping
But I agree they are quite heavy
I may have to bring them outta the closet and see if I can reproduce this horrible sounding occurence
Which ones? Focal Clear?
Yeah
Got 'em on, will give them a shot
And then do what you would consider to be quite loud but tolerable listening which is what I'm doing now. When you want to really jam out
I use a HW EQ cause I got tired of losing my APO config so often 😄
What's a good test track for this hearing damage 😉
This is a bass heavy song
But yeah I hope you are EQing otherwise you might not notice it
Yeah, just in hardware
That is a good test track 😆 have the low end EQ'ed way too high and it's not clipping for me (but is making my vision get wobbly)
or rather, not bottoming out the driver
maybe I just got lucky?
It's Focal Elear I think people complain about it the most, but that is simultaneously a much cheaper headphone and so more will have it
I've never used Clear, but I have used Clear MG
I mean, I have to imagine they're in the same ball park
phew I think I took a year off my good hearing years doing that
Maybe it's partially down to unit variation
I have experienced clipping at «comfortably loud» volumes
That's what I meant by my maybe being lucky
Who knows. Either way, I think they're solid but just a bit too heavy. Had some issues with a peak around IIRC 3khz or so, but that can be EQ'd out without too much trouble
Mostly the weight that makes me put them away
I think my ideal would be to get the form factor of the HD600 and drivers closer to the 800S. Then I'd never have to think about this again.
They are shaped a bit like consumer style headphones, Sony XM etc. but much larger and heavier and I don't feel like that works well
For heavier headphones I at least want bigger contact area like Audezes
And a better strap design
Still never got a chance to try Audezes
nor Meze for that matter
Didn't realize Aud's were heavy
I've owned two and they were awful imo
See I think the polarizing opinions kept me away
Being heavy is what they are most famous for
Well, that and the drivers right 🙂
I had the LCD-XC (closed version of X) and it weighs 677 gram
The pads are nice and plush but at that weight it doesn't even matter much anymore because it still hurts your neck
HD600: 260g
Perfection 🤩
No matter how it fits your head it will strain your neck
Yeah that's very good
Comfort is so so important to me in a headphone
Over 350 grams and I start looking at alternatives
My friend I wish you were around to discuss this stuff 10y ago, would have made better decisions I am sure.
10 years ago the choices were a lot more limited we have a lot more options nowadays
and yet the pair on my head I bought used 15y ago 🙂
I was not an audiophile 10 years ago. I was just 15
I got my first serious headphone in 2018
Phew, you ran all the way to the top pretty quick
I was on that m50x hype train, into the dt 770 pros
I'm the most happy now with my Astro A50 Gen 5. They are imo the best sounding headphones I've ever had. And they are comfortable
I've heard good things about them!
DT 770 Pro is the one I bought in 2018. I thought they were incredible back then but that was probably because every headphone I had owned prior had too little treble
The Astro?
Yeah, someone had said some kind words about them IIRC a few years ago when I last heard
I think they are excellent. I did a lot of research before settling on them
The headphones I had before that were the Audeze Maxwell. I still have that but the Astros are better and more comfortable
Keep in mind it has to be the Gen 5 (or X) specificially. There are other earlier gens and they suck
I'd always heard they were fine in early gens, but nothing to think much of. May have to give them a 👀
