#Methods to optimize Shades of Mort'ton?

obtain remains after you've finished a trip - bring your melee gear (including salve) and the slimmest amount of utility items you can spare to maximize inventory space - i'd probably skip thralls, for instance, maybe even spec weapon too because the coffins drop some

#

bring explorer's ring even though you're not using thralls because you can drop it when you're done cashing in and can shift gears to gathering remains

#

don't bother with the zealot zombie bones - you have to bring enough fally shield charges/prayer pots to get through a trip assuming you won't loot any so they don't save inventory space, but they do waste time running out of the room and to the altar and they require you to hold a key on you instead of just cashing them all out instantly

Get flaemtaer bag before getting your oil, makes constructing really chill + much faster than killing shades.

i believe you can tick manipulate burning the shades, though i don't know for sure and haven't done it

I liked using the flamtaer braclets to speed up the sanctity

i seem to have lost my shades setup completely 😅 here's an attempted recreation - 3 empty inventory slots are supposed to be more keys but I only had 20 in bank. I'm not sure if one ppot is enough to fill up inventory + coffin - maybe bring a second first trip for safety

#

actually i might have just had gold coffin equipped and not brought the fire cape

there's kind of a feedback loop at shades where initially it's kind of a pain but pretty quickly you gain stuff like a flamtaer bag, a silver/gold coffin, and a surplus of keys and it becomes pretty chill. the sacred oil loop is pretty disconnected from the shades/keys loop, you just need it to make the logs

#

you don't use "gear" at any part other than killing the shades - for sacred oil gathering you build the temple, not kill the mobs

#

the first thing you should do is do temple trekking/burgh de rott rumble on the hard route until you get the mort'ton event to kill a few fiyr shades though, otherwise you have to kill a bunch of low level shades first to get your first silver key and that takes a while

#

make sure you never use all of your keys! you can use all of them in your inventory if you have some banked but if you don't you kind of have to start over (though it's easier because you'll probably have the bag/coffin)

As a tip for slightly nicer gameplay at a slightly less efficient gathering I would only collect the remains during a trip you can burn at once

using flaemtaer bracelet is a really really good move. i believe my inv setup was just flaemtaer bag, hammer, an extra bracelet, swamp tar, then a buncha oil to convert. then graceful + craft cape + mory legs.

i got 512 pyre redwood logs before even starting gold shades, just so i wasnt interrupted by swapping inventories to get more oul. worst case you get a few more than you need, you can also get oil and just not convert the logs if you care about not dropping them at the end.

for actual shade collecting, just bring your best melee setup + your best coffin, frafrabowa's setup & key looping is def solid, just put in whatever upgrades you have!
