They lose aggro yes, so I imagine you're wondering about if they will wait at the ladder for you when you go back in.
They will resume their wandering around, but you just may get unlucky and they will still be close enough to the ladder to attack you the moment you go back down

dks never become tolerant if that's what you're asking
the videos you're watching are probably just waiting behind the root to let the kings wander around in hopes that they'll move far enough from the ladder to get in without prime/supreme aggroing on you
though you can safely drop supreme aggro by safespotting rex, topping up on prayer, and x-logging
so you really only need prime to wander away
