ranged slayer as a rule of thumb is awful and should be avoided. Tbh if you're worried about degradation costs you're not in a position to level slayer seriously anyway beyond the bare minimum for quest reqs. The fact that something degrades shouldn't be a factor, but also if affording it is difficult that kind of implies you won't be able to afford runes for barraging either, so just come back when you can afford to do slayer properly

The only degradable I would think about is Arclight (pre TD / WGS quest.) or Bowfa if you get it pre corruption. Everything else is a means to an end, just use it / avoid the potion problem (game theory)

As stated above the eclipse atlatl does not degrade, however in the case of ranged weapons it is normal not worth uisng them at all. Melee dps with piety will be greater than ranged dps for the vast majority of all slayer. Feel free to use it for things like tormented demons though(where ranged is forced). If it is ever better than using melee do not feel bad about using it there.
