I watched a bunch of vids on youtube but for whatever reason all the instructions I found were too confusing for me to follow. I accidentally stumbled on the method I'm using in the vid I attached but it's different from the yt tutorials. It's definitely faster than not using any method at all but my xp rates are lower than the wiki rates w/ tick manipulation. If anyone can give me some clarity I'd appreciate it. Ty

Very first thing you do in the video is place a trap without like bark or something to tick manip, so it can definitely be improved upon
There's a good git page that explains retrap setting techniques, sec
You're also knife logging unnecessarily
Just chain the lay to picking up the next trap
Can see the chaining between traps here
And bark to start ^
Yw
You have reset enabled in menu entry swapper, you have to disable that if u want to be able to 3t at all, traps gotta say check when u left click/hover over them
Great shout. Changing my settings now, ty zer
Ah yeah, I forgot runelite does that nonsense by default
MES trolling people as normal
So I guess I've been tick manipulating but not close to peak efficiency. Ty u both for the help
the main problem here is you can't 1t by resetting traps so its kinda bad to learn
since 1t is really good and even less clicks
i prefer gems over bark but they're both good
just focus on 3t/1t for now and then add in bark or gem later
What's the benefit of gems?
+1 click +1 inv slot
Ik neither of those rly matter in this situation, but still
can adjust if you fuck up and can preclick
idk it was easier on my brain
yeah it doesnt matter so why mention it
can take multiple if you fuck up
Ah yeah true can't stack multiple barks without the interface can you
Good point didn't remember that
In the clip you started the cycle with chisel + gem, would it still have worked if you started with knife + teak?
I'm confused as to why you have both in your inv
yes
knife teak is for when i fuck up chisel gem
ignore that for now its just tech for later
sorry for the confusion, for reg 3t (to go into 1t) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsfJIHGhlwA&t=1s&pp=ygUVZnJhc2VyIHRyYXAgcmVzZXR0aW5n
this is the best guide imo
I see, ty for clarifying. preciate ya
1 extra tick to react
With bark you need to same-tick click bark + trap
Example full-length video with gems + knife-log

I got around 735 chins that hour, though I think you can definitely get up to 750-760 if you don't make as many mistakes. Probably my favorite skilling method! These are really fun to use in ToB (range role), ToA (Kephri), and of course Kree'arra.

This is very complicated. For now just always use knife-log
Once you get good at chaining and feel comfortable, then time to add gem/bark tech
Explaining this will require going through the Data Dependent guide
It's definitely worth doing long-term but for now keep it simple to learn the main mechanic (chaining)
Ahh nice ty
trying to learn this with knife-log, once I have traps down...
is this right for 6t?
to initiate adj to trap:
tick 1: check trap
tick 2: wait
tick 3: wait
tick 4: knife + log
tick 5: move
tick 6: place trap
basic lay trap:
tick 1: knife + log
tick 2: move
tick 3: place
and then struggling with the chain a bit
to initiate adj to trap:
tick 1: check trap
tick 2: wait
tick 3: wait
tick 4: knife + log
tick 5: move
tick 6: place trap + move to next trap
tick 7: check trap
tick 8: wait
tick 9: place
I think visual indicators helps a bit more rather than trying to count ticks
as soon as you see the trap disappear knife log
When your character bends all the way down during the chain click trap in inv and move
well trying to practice with visual ticks so trying to get the right action at each tick for now
I thought character animation can be off sometimes?
Not really? Maybe with all the hd/animation smoothing plugins these days idk
There wasn't any of that or visual metronome when I learned it and the above helped me with timing
so the wait for trap to disappear and then knife down helps
still a bit stuck on the chaining though
are the place trap and move always same tick?
yes
its way easier to help if you record what ur doing and show
for me when it came to learning 1t trap resetting biggest hurdle i had
was not understanding that I move immidetaitely
Also how do you do 2 actions in 1 tick, place + click tile, feel like I'm way too slow for that lol
I'll record next time I do a run, it won't be pretty
i think u are allowed to do that though
i kept waiting cuz i thought u had to but u just are able to kinda like emptying multiple pouches in 1 tick
u can lay trap and move same tick i think
itll come with practice took me like 2.5hours to learn how to do
but its hella worth it and makes chins alot more fun imo
Not just "can" but "have to" if you want to chain
In a 30 minute session I hit 2 chains successfully, still need practice with it tho
@runic harbor plugin "tick manipulation helper" is kinda busted for learning chins
has a tick counter over ur head whenever u place traps or knife log
if u place a trap on 1 it insta places
to chain u gotta do that and move on the same tick
yeah honestly makes it braindead, cannot believe this exists lol
you can just use that and brain off 3t endlessly
how does the plugin work?
i installed it but nothing happend no options
does it only work when ur engaging in knife log cycle
or some form of tickmanip
yes
it supports herb-tar, knife-log, and bark
still needs gem support iirc but if that's added it'll be beans
dont think so, i just randomly found it in plugin hub
It doesn't work for mahogany log tho lol
If I fletch my teak I gotta turn off plug-in until I mess up the mahogany lol
