Been trying to farm cg but i legit can't get consistent completions even with t2 even when doing everything correctly, should i just get my stats up or just assume that i'm gonna die and can't do anything about it?

queen scroll
#

you’re gonna spend on average 70 hours inside cg so just pump your ranged to 92 with red chins

supple fossil
#

Gonna have to figure out hm chins will get me to 92 but it sounds like a plan

copper tartan
#

Yeah you’re causing yourself a lot of pain in misery even using the bow at that range level. Your best case would be to go staff and halberd with those stats, but it’s nice to have the option of all 3 for efficiency sake.

queen scroll
#

that’s also gonna improve your times and consistency since you’ll be able to do t1 and thus better times

pale storm
#

id get the 92 ranged yeah. But if you don't want to, you'll have consistent clears at your stats with t1, let alone t2

#

I think you might be making a ton of mistakes and not noticing

supple fossil
#

I'll see what i do, thanks for the tips guys

Can always record a run and post here

#

Or just have a search through previous threads and find Bruhs breakdown of other people's videos

#

Though the tldr will be 27 different 'you were missing 21hp, should've ate fish.' And 19 'could've attacked there, wasted ticks'

#

Eating at the right time is a huge game changer. Stops you from having to panic and react on low hp when shit happens you weren't expecting

balmy idol
#

how is missing 21 hp and not eating fish a mistake? imo if you’re very practiced you should be tick eating a good amount and if you’re not you should save some eating for running tornados

drifting yew
#

you miss one tickeat and lose 8mins

#

eating during tornadoes is also bad because if you are not practiced yet it's one more thing to keep track of

#

if you are practiced you should just be attacking

#

and same thing, one misstep and you are dead if you are camping low hp waiting for tornadoes

#

lets say tickeating saves you like 3 fish worth of hp, thats like 15 ticks lost for a risk of 8 mins

#

if you die once doing it it will take a long time to be worth again

balmy idol
#

sure don’t have to tick eat, but op isn’t so new that he needs to be 90+ hp to not chance, and i’ve seen a lot of ticks lost at tornados due to having to attack boss. eating is easier

drifting yew
#

when I started on iron, I had 400 kc experience from main and had that habit as well because of the advice, once I unlearned that my consistency skyrocketed and because of that my long term kph was way better

#

and op is doing t2 preps, hardly experienced at the boss

balmy idol
#

i can see the point but i don’t really think it’s necessary advice to always top up hp, i don’t think it’s crazy one way or the other camping 50 vs 80.
not missing ticks is necessary advice

fluid finch
#

The difference between eating at 50 vs 70 is essentially 0 though?

#

You'd get a benefit from not eating at -21 if you went all the way down, tick ate a hit and camped augery while eating to full, sure. Is that likely to pay off for someone that's asking for advice? Not rly ;/

drifting yew
#

it's just good advice for the people having questions at cg. It's not molgoatkirby that is in need of cg advice

fluid finch
#

^

#

Even if it saves you one run, that's huge in comparison to the ticks you could've saved if you risked it and went all the way down

#

If you're speedrunning, sure, it's shit. But people asking for advice aren't trying to speedrun, they're trying to improve consistency. There's no reason not to eat when you're missing hp if consistency is the goal

balmy idol
#

i guess to me it seems like the question isn’t about dying with food, it’s about running out of supplies and still can’t complete. would be nice to see a vod, but sounds like problem is almost certainly missed ticks not chancing self too much

drifting yew
#

you'd be surprised how many learners die with half an inventory of food

balmy idol
#

just saying given he said “doing everything correctly” i doubt his issue was running into stomp with 50 hp and ah should have been 70

fluid finch
drifting yew
#

without trying to be rude, but he is most likely wrong on that like many others have been before

fluid finch
#

That's wasting supplies that didn't need to be used if the panic didn't happen

pale storm
# balmy idol sure don’t have to tick eat, but op isn’t so new that he needs to be 90+ hp to ...

this is exactly the mistake a lot of people make. I don't expect you to change your mind - most people don't. For anyone else reading this though I'll say that eating fish to heal up during the fight is the very best way to improve at CG, and doing the opposite is imo ridiculously harmful. This point has come up a lot and sometimes people give it a try after malding for a bit and notice how good eating is, and sometimes they do not. Either option is fine with me, but eating food is really really good in pvm.

fluid finch
#

And I agree if he was doing everything correctly, but no one is doing everything correctly and still failing consistently, even at those stats

pale storm

yeah i guess that’s fair. i read thru your other post and i can kinda see how always being max hp means one less thing to worry about without much loss in return.
what i usually do if trying to play safe in last few % is eat up right when tornados spawn, which times it perfectly so i can wait for tornados to get close to me and then start running. it isn’t very hard imo but i can see how it wouldnt leave u on the highest possible hp which could lead to mistakes

Just curious what stats are recommended to do t1 prep cg? I'm currently 81 attack 83 str/80 def/ 86 range /81 magic/ 57 pray/ 89 hp

uncut kettle
#

100 cmb in melees (something like 78/86/75) so you can get elite void for chinning, chin to 87-92 range, mage 80+, 70 prayer for piety

tall briar
#

92 ranged helps make ranged only like 15% worse than 82 magic with eagle eye

#

Highly recommend getting it

#

It's not because it's good, it's because it's less bad

#

I straight up think that ranged under 89 minimum is unplayable at CG
Yes you can do it fine but it's just unnecessarily make it harder when chinning is so fast

#

Let me find the pic for you one sec

#

The bow is balanced around Rigour, so at 99 it has a similar DPS to the staff and halberd with Piety

#

But with Eagle Eye you lose 3 max hits immediately, and at 92 you lose another 2

#

At 86 you lose another 3 on top of that

#

It's just so much worse

#

This chart is why I recommend 92 to everyone -- it's only half of the grind to 99 but only missing 2 max hits

#

Anyway all of that just for something that's usable at 15% worse than staff and maybe on par with mid-80s Piety halberd

spring parrot
#

heck yeah thank you i hate t2 prep cg, i have no issue grinding to 92 range to make t1 doable, any suggestions on a method to grind prayer/ range? or just do like u say and rush chins and farm prayer seperately?

uncut kettle
#

Wildy green drags and chaos altar for prayer, catch and throw chins in mm2 tunnels for range. It's the fastest range training even accounting for the time it takes to get chins.

river monolith
#

necro posting on this, but 100% train your range and mage up. Range to at least 83 IMO for max hit with eagle eye. Mage probably 80. I have been doing t2 pretty brainlessly with those stats.

#

defense also helps more than you'd think

neon temple
#

(Don't do t2)

river monolith
#

When i get higher stats I'll swap to t1. T1 is too much of a coin flip for me to have it be worth. I haven't died in over 100 runs t2. Avg time 9 mins id say. Prep usually 5:45ish hun 3:30ish

neon temple
#

Its not a coin flip if you play properly

#

You're likely making mistakes that t2 lets you get away with

river monolith
#

I mean it literally was. If your stats are not high enough you're chipped down.

#

You can play perfectly and not out dps the boss. 5+ min kills

neon temple
#

You are/were likely making mistakes that you didnt see

#

Yes that's possible but quite unlikely

serene magnet
#

Took me a while to get good at it, ~90 kills, but it was easily consistent

river monolith
#

Feel free to speculate, I was not consistently doing kills. I swapped to t2 and didn't die in over 100 kills

#

My stats were not high enough

#

Maybe if you have dex

drifting yew
#

24 fish gives you like a 99% chance to finish the kill with like 80ish stats no dex

#

t2 just makes it so you can get away with mistakes

#

which is totally fine imo if you prefer to be able to play sloppily with lower kph

#

I think you have to die more than like 1:6 kills for t1 to be worse

pale storm
#

Yeah it's never the stats that are the issue, but a lot of people prefer to try to believe that

#

The alternative is unpleasant

copper tartan
#

I’d rather wipe in t1 with a proper food prep and entering boss with > 2 mins left on the timer than wipe trying to piece together t2 and feeling rushed. 😅

pale storm
#

both t1 prep in 4:30 and t2 prep in 6:00 or so are quite consistent

drifting yew
#

I prefer making a coffee in the middle of my t1 prep, could never do that with t2

supple fossil
#

Also ditching the bow alltogether and just going melee+mage made it heaps more consistent

#

(Leaving this here in case anyone is having the same issue)

drifting yew
#

ditching bow is bad advice, you'll lose more time looking for the 3rd boss

fresh niche
#

Yeah you should still use first two weapons to save time. Its good that you’ve identified where you’ve made mistakes though so using bow should be no issue for you if you keep improving 👍🏻

tall briar
#

Using first two weapons to save time is the reason that 92 ranged is recommended

#

It makes 2/3 of your runs way less aids

dont wanna make a new thread, and this is relevant to my question:
currently at 95 cb with 70/82/70 melee stats, 63 ranged, 81 magic. I just finished MM2.

is it okay to start chinning now and get 92 ranged and start CGing, or will CG be rough for my current level and it would make more sense to keep training cb to 100 and then go get elite void and chin with them

pale storm
#

Id get 100cb, also because it will make void faster

jaunty heath
#

yeah, i feel like thats more logical, but man i dont like slayer lol
