#fixed stretched, or resizable??

I’ve been jumping back and forth between the two, mostly play fixed, doing the cg grind right now and usually turn on the fixed mode hide chat plug in, after awhile I get tired of turning it on/off so I switch to resizable and can immediately tell the difference in extra mouse movement I need to do but the extra FOV is nice, i guess my question is, outside of CG when i get into more PVM is there a benefit of using one over the other? ideally I would like to just stick to one layout so any input I can get from you guys about pros/cons would be appreciated

Most people play resizable but both have benefits

#

You're the one using it, play what you prefer ultimately

I used to be a big fixed simp, but like you i switched to resizable during cg and never looked back

Resizable, but dont go too big, that's a trap. Consider the distance between your health bar/spec orb/quick pray, inventory, and the middle of the screen.

Big fan of resizable

#

I used fixed for 4 years while maxing
Moved to resizable for CoX/Inferno and haven't looked back

#

IME all older content is great on fixed, up to around 2017ish

#

After that newer content feels more designed for resizable

#

Some newer content works fine on fixed too

#

I did Zulrah/DKS/Cerb/Sire/Hydra all on fixed and it was fine

#

Later on I did some GWD and more Zulrah on resizeable and it felt very comfy

#

Just use what you like.

Yep I'm still on that client size years later now 😄
It's so good

I tried using a tiny window like that and I couldn't read anything even when I was squinting

#

Resizable but about as small as fixed, just with a hidden chat box

hollow pasture
#

^ there’s also a plugin so you can set up hotkey to open chat box. I mostly use it for olm so I know what specials he’s using

Same as your solution, just improved

Just tried it out of curiosity, as I was running something like 1260x700 something or other. And holy crap its tiny. 1440p 34" UW for context.

#

RL desktop icon included for scale

astral cove
#

yeah its really unpleasant playing on a tiny resolution on a larger monitor

tired tapir
#

This is how I usually play

wheat merlin
#

For those of you using a 1440p monitor, I think the equivalent to 960x540 would be 1280x720

lament sonnet
#

No, 1440p just lets you keep your 960x540 in a smaller area so you have less eye movement required

how did you get your bottom right inventory area to look so clean?

wtf

#

You misstype 24..?

hollow creek
#

Uhhhh idk it's pretty old let me check though

tired tapir
#

Because I dont know if Ive seen a monitor smaller than 24 in...

#

idk, 15 years?

#

More probably

hollow creek
#

Seems to be 1080p 24in

#

But ye my client occupies a decent amount of space

#

So I don't feel like I'm squinting

tired tapir
#

Still pretty much "the standard" monitor

#

So you're in plentiful company.

#

Makes sense though. High resolution monitors means pixels take up less space essentially. That size up above was hella small on my monitor.

#

Had a similar issue trying to play RS3 when I moved up to a 1440, this was before they had the option to increase text size as well as UI scaling. Straight up couldnt read anything on the screen.

hollow creek
#

Oh yea lack of scaling on UI elements sucks even if client is better

tired tapir
#

They've since added both. But their poor alternative for RL (Alt1) is just an overlay and it only works on 100% scaling, so I've got to use different presets and swap to 100% + my glasses to see properly when using the overlay for stuff like clues hidethepain

#

This second smaller window is like 9xx x 7xx? And it's basically unreadable

#

think im same as u on an ultrawide kek

tired tapir
#

Lol holy cow. No shade, but I gotta ask. Is the bigger RL window there for "scale" or do you play like that?

astral cove
#

i play like that lol

tired tapir
#

Interesting lol

#

Mine against a full screen browser page, for scale

astral cove
#

I use a tiling wm so no floating windows xd

ah

wind zephyr

Huge

astral cove
#

yeah im not sure how i could make it smaller but not too small l ol

wind zephyr
#

32 inch right?

astral cove
#

34

#

id have to like stick a bar or something under the window PES2_Shrug

wind zephyr
#

32 inch

hollow pasture
#

Yeah I can’t imagine playing osrs on anything bigger than a 24” 1080p

#

I also wouldn’t expect somebody to change their gaming monitor for it either lol

hollow palm
#

i really like fixed stretched :P

atomic arrow
#

I had a 34 inch extra wide that I gave my wife and got a 24 inch 1080p just for osrs. Scaling is waaay better and I can finally see the tiles I click on.

#

ive always played resizeable the biggest tip I ever learned about enhancing reizeable experince was from a inferno speedrunner in inferno speedrunning discord to use stretched mode with resizeable

#

and that has been a game changer for me to always stick to resizeable

#

its just preference though imo playing on certain controls or settings wont magically make you insanely cracked or terrible

Hey everyone on this topic wondering if anyone can help. My buff timers (circled in red) I would love it if they went in a straight line down for like 8 or 9 buffs. However, after 4 buffs, they start a new column which forces me to not have them lined up right next to my HP bar. Does anyone know a way to increase the amount of buffs in a stright line down before starting a new column? I've looked through setting and don't see anything that allows this to be altered. I'm aware of the "flip" option, but I'm not looking to create rows instead of columns.
