I decided that all modern horror mods are unfun, so I decided to make my own. Here are some of the many big features I'm adding!
Introducing the Mimic (Working Title)
The Mimic is a player who has been infected by a paradoxical parasite, which takes over their body, morphing it into a twisted paradox, before hunting any nearby living players.
Before you ask, no, this is not just lore; you get to see it in real time, in-game, when one of your friends gets infected.
Additionally, whoever gets infected has to sit and watch his own body hunt his friends (for only a couple of minutes, I'm not cruel).
This creature intelligently builds profiles of who it's hunting, learning everything about the online players, then uses it to trick you and your friends! It not only follows your gameplay patterns, but it also listens to your conversations, learning your secrets. It then uses these secrets to strip away your sense of security.
Even better yet, it picks up on your speaking dialect and mimics your voice! This doesn't just replay sound bytes you already said, no! It uses complex AI to say things you never said, in your own voice! It lures your friends into traps, causing constant distrust in anything you hear.
Isn't this essentially every dweller mod but with extra steps?
No! This mod is designed to break from typical horror mod norms. While there is a "dweller", interactions with the mimic are significantly different, and focus more on atmosphere rather than attacks! Whenever you are attacked, there are counters and mechanics, none of which are guaranteed death sentences. Think of it as following a similar formula to the Warden.
This mod implements puzzles that require strategy to increase flavor, randomness to increase unpredictability and replayability, and enemy weaknesses to prevent frustration and annoyance.
