The trees take a while to grow and go through various stages. As long as the tree has health you can keep chopping wood.
Also if its fully grown fruits it will bear fruits every day.
Health can be regenerated by using e.g. withered grass

but you should definitely include a config option to disable the chopping wood mechanic
imo, its a little broken, and i personally wouldnt play with that turned on
oh, and since its got hp, you should add something like diseases that can reduce its hp and affect its fruit

i don’t think its broken tbh. the trees need 20 days to grow (in vid i just used fertilizer). you also need to constantly water it or it will die

That's not even near broken lol, normally you would either just chop down whole forests or plant saplings and spam bonemal

it also requires player input and cant be automated. the purpose isnt logs even in the first place though. you want the fruits
