Will include:

  • New enchantments + support for existing enchantments such as Thorns.
  • Copper (I have plans for them to age and be waxxable), gold, diamond and netherite shields.
  • Reinforced Shields, can reinforce them using their respective Shield Platings.
  • Shield Stands/Shelves (Put your shields on your walls similar to banners!)
  • Quick patch kits which can increase the shield's current durability, useful for combat situations.

Yes sure

#

Still some issues i need to fix with those

#

but they're getting there over time

#

(plating textures are gonna be redone eventually)

#

but for something a player is gonna have for like... 30 seconds until they upgrade their shields to plated, its not really the end of the world

#

yeah that'd be cool honestly

#

it goes in the anvil though

#

not smithing table

#

cos y'know you're hammering the plating onto the shield

supple cliff
#

oh alright (i tried thinking of an alternative but i blanked sadly)

the copper one i think still needs some retexturing. imo it looks like orange juice

gloomy wolf
#

I mean... comparing it to actual copper it looks fine imo

#

Maybe it could do being slightly darker

#

whats the tier progression order for the shields?

# supple cliff whats the tier progression order for the shields?

Copper (Worst, more of a like "whew this is beautiful" sort of thing, but down the road I plan to make it have a chance to strike you with lightning if you hold it up to the sky and "block" during a thunderstorm, granting an achievement.)
then
Iron (Vanilla)
then
Gold (Low durability but very low cooldown)
then
Diamond
then
Netherite

Plated isnt really "progression", it just increases the durability but slightly increases the cooldown. Plating a shield is recommended for the low-tier ones tailored for PVP to increase the durability but keep a quick cooldown when an axe is used but for the high-tier ones it's more to stop the shield from breaking over time, allowing mending, unbreaking etc. and the shield-based enchantments will help as well

#

tldr; plate the low-tier ones to have higher durability during PVP where the shield will be hit/disabled alot, but keep the relatively low cooldown.

plate high-tier ones to have high durability so you dont have to worry about it breaking/have to mend it often

alright

#

also i just learned

#

smithing tables aren't a real thing

#

i think the shield plates should be on the smithing table since the smithing table seems to be where you bash things onto armor in minecraft (examples are armor trims and netherite)

#

also for the textures you try making the plated shields similar to the wooden shields stripes

supple cliff

#

the unplated diamond

gloomy wolf

#

It would be cool if it had a sound when used

#

also weird suggestion for the mod but i was wondering if you could add 2D texture icons for shields

#

I think the 3d textures for the items have always looked funky so I think 2D version would look

#

It's like how the Trident has a 2D icon but then when pulled out it has a 3D icon

gloomy wolf
#

added it very shortly after the video was played

supple cliff
#

hear me out

#

armor trim compatability

gloomy wolf
#

there's already some shield trim mods out there no?

#

oh wait no

#

huh thats maybe a good shout then
