I think the answer is an obvious yes
that i agree with. Sabo will be stronger than Ben by then
akainu will never be a sabo victim
I don’t even know what the hell he is gonna do but I’m more so curious on what his sense of justice would turn out to be
when you remember, kong was a fleet admiral during the rocks era
The LA said Absolute i think
And Tsuru was there
He had a book on it
She was certainly there
they literally mention Zoans having mysterious ability to dodge certain ppl. they did attemt to find it and failed
one of odas worst and most shameless characters
I'm just kinda annoyed that he has a rank technically higher than the fleet admiral and yet the guy doesn't do anything
Whoa
why
She was but we've seen Kong talk to Garp and Sengoku multiple times which is why I highlighted them
Who we hatin on
but yes she was also there
Sabo is the superior brother
i feel like the higher you go, the less field work you have to do so he’s a desk man like akainu
Kong’s contribution to God Valley:
- Tell Garp to go cause Roger’s there
Ace has more aura tho
I just wanted to remind everyone that she was also present
is this a teaser for next OP movie? no wonder oda called it shit
Kong is the punching bag for Oda
I like sabo, but I also like someone who hates on a character that isn’t normally hated by the fandom
Ugly Ace yeah
This Shanks panel always fries me
Shanks looks like a drowned rat that’s crazy
clears the 2 brother that shares a single braincell between them
That was only when the df was not eaten, I'm talking about after Luffy ate it. Realistically the gorosei could have easily killed luffy after alabasta and taken the df.
Ace had more aura when he was greasy looking
- boring personality
- amnesia stuff was bs
- never hearing about ace somehow
- ace and luffy never hearing about sabo
- sabo is conveniently added to the story as soon as ace dies
- nothing interesting character wise
- not really any cool moments
- no interesting dynamics
- the revolutionaries are ass
does Koby fall for this category?
Is this an actual panel?
No because us koby haters are proud and visible
and i dont like how he got aces fruit they didnt even try to make him unique
hes just so lame
WOBY
And delusional
Koby and Garp
When you guys stand, do you stand/lean on your heels or your toes
unfortunately that can't happen if you want the plot to continue xd
Levitate
I disagree with basically every point but I can’t deny that you’re kind of cooking
Oh how conflicted I am
You are not Leshwi bro
some are slightly exaggerated but you get my idea
he is literally temu ace
Now that you’re asking I haven’t got a clue
Surely you favor one
I just stand
Stand now
That was my exact point. Plot reasons
The heel
I realized I kinda lean more on the forward part of my feet
Yeah but now my mind is on what I’m standing on if I stand up
I think it’s supposed to be that he has taken up the mantle and lives to honor his brother’s memory
You are not mj bro
My toes actually
Yup definitely both
i dont want akainu to have a final fight against a boring ass character like sabo
luffy should fight akainu
or dragon
I have a negative view on Sabo because he was in Dressrosa and I watched the anime for Dressrosa
and I hate anime Dressrosa
Anime dressrosa made me drop one piece for like 6 years
I also finished it in 3 days but that doesnt mean i loved it
Nah akainu doesn't have the privilege to fight the MC in final war
I think shoes make a big difference
Bare feet I stand on both
- no
- understandable
- no
- no
- no
6, he has a pipe - dog walked Burgass
- understandable
- he is more hands on action than Dragon, he is making Revolutionaries look cooler
I think Sabo’s an ok opponent for Akainu tbh like I know he’s Ace’s killer but with Luffy’s progression into fighting bigger antagonists like Imu and BB I don’t see why Akainu would come in
I hope Akainu switches sides
His absolute justice shatters
Akainu’s enemy will be Garling maybe
bro luffy watched akainu kill ace infront of him and akainu gave him a giant x scar over his chest
a 100 chapter arc in an anime that was paced at less than 1 chapter an episode
Might be the worst idea of all time
That guy is irredeemable
shanks don't have a plot reason to not go and see BB since he been looking for his ass since day 1. Oda just doing it to keep his favorite safe from the asswhooping
weak
I want Akainu to just lose it and fight on no one's side, just attacking WG and pirates in the final war
I was watching it weekly...
why would u
He realizes he's been duped but can't let go of his hatred of pirates so he just third parties
akainu isn't completely wrong. pirates are scum that need to be rid of
Let Akainu do himself in and Greenbull take charge
Nah bb ain't as strong as shanks even post marineford, he literally ran from akainu
Deep down Akainu ain’t evil. He wants to achieve justice his methods are just insanely wrong. He needs someone to smack some (a lot of) sense into him
since the start of elbaf
Sakazuki is still worse than like 99% of pirates lol
The final war is already gonna have Fuji and likely kizaru switch sides, we don’t need Akainu too
hes a psycho
genuine psychopath
because he had nothing to gain from it. what happened to Luffy when he last engaged in a fight with Admiral? got his whole crew 1 tap away from death
killing someone because they didnt want to fight in a war is being a complete psycho
Akainu's feelings about pirates aren't really wrong. Most pirates in the series are pretty evil, crews like the Straw Hats and Red-haired Pirates are in the minority
c'mon now.... u can't really believe this
Soooo evil
Yes
and dead beats that pick teenagers
So you think bb is stronger than akainu when ran from him?
i would argue this is still evil
Sorry, any defense for marines instantly makes you genocide apologist
After that ship on Ohara I don’t wanna hear this Khalid 😭😭😭
Akainu isnt evil for his hatred of pirates he's evil because he's willing to sacrifice comrades and innocents if it means ensuring justice is established
Most pirates havent gone out of their way to kill thousands of innocent civilians
Sakazuki literally kills other marines
He's scum
I didnt say Akainu was a good guy, just that his evil comes less from his hate for pirates and more for what he's willing to do to get rid of pirates
What’s Akainu’s objective ?
hes completely irredeemable
he had his crew with him. Akainu was loosing that fight but BB would take major loss so its better to avoid
Akainu calls it a sacrifice for the greater good
Dawg
not saying its right but desertion being punished by death is something all soldiers are aware of when they sign up
its usually in the codes and everything
though doing it in private kind of defeats the purpose of it
Akainu is evil but that doesn't suddenly mean that pirates as a whole are good guys just cause he hates them. One evil can hate another evil
Akainu does what he needs to
he goes above and beyond
No he doesn’t actually
Still didn't answer my question dude, bb alone ain't stronger than akainu at that time. Do you agree with that
He was supposed to let the refugee ship go
They havent
Only Arlong, Hody, Crocodile, Doffy, Blackbeard, Linlin and Kaido are on that level of evil
He took it on himself to blow it up
i understand that irl but i feel like oda’s obvious intention is to show akainu as a psychopath
like koby starts tweaking when he sees it
They’re not exceptions among pirates
its a very disturbing moment
oh u an actual powerscaler? this don't add anything to what we were discussing
It’s war
Oh Jesus
that makes it alright to kill your own men
usually its to dissuade deserting but its kind of dumb if you dont do it publically
There's a ton of unnamed pirates that just pillage and rob innocent islands, like the Bluejam pirates are not exactly an uncommon type of crew to find in the one piece world
Yeah most pirates are greedy and violent but they not mass murderers
Remember when he left the war to kill some fodder marines who escaped
These are the modal pirates
i imagine most pirates dont really want to go around murdering everyone they see
No, I mean it’s a place where the disturbing is the goal
Not goal
they just want to pillage and etc., if they have to kill then so be it
I mean yes but that is still evil
yeah
I ain't a powerscaler and it does add up. Bb at that time wasn't strong enough to defeat shanks. So if shanks wanted to he could have taken down bb. At the end it's all plot reasons. Anyway I got to go. You could agree to disagree if you like
Not sakazuki level though
but theres a distinction between that and like doflamingo or crocodile (and akainu)
Answer this, what is Akainu’s mission/goal/objective?
For most pirates I’m sure it’s just if they get what they want they’re fine
Say BB he can have a lot but he’d want more
i dont know what the original point being made here is actually lol
Conquering the world probably isn’t just enough
Not individually no, but when you have thousands and thousands of pirates out on the sea like that plus the REALLY evil ones like the Doflamingo pirates around it adds up
Me neither
The guy willing to kill csuse he thinks it’s saving the world is more evil than the guy willing to kill csuse he really wants money
Okay man
I think the point being made here is that just cause Akainu is evil doesn't mean that pirates are suddenly not evil or that he's incorrect in seeing pirates as evil, or at least that's my point
Akainu is a really layered character. I’m looking forward to seeing him explored and humanized as a villain
Do you think violence can be justified, ever?
yeah i dont think hes pure evil like some other villains are
yes at MF shanks could've taken BB but he didn't try. he can still take out BB hard dif but he still won't attempt it because the plot dictates a BB win by default. thats why Oda is keeping Shanks away from BB
hes somewhat well intentioned, even if it might be more for his own satisfaction than the greater good
You mean he intends to save the world to achieve some kind of glory?
Akainu thinks that killing innocents and fellow marines is justified if it means he's closer to accomplishing his goal of eradicating as many pirates and criminals as possible, similar to Kuzan he thinks the ends justify the means through which he does things
Is that what you mean by his own satisfaction
Yes because in the end it doesnt matter what your intention is
Evil is evil
I feel like his story is going towards a direction where he'll disagree with all sides
But he'll still be evil
Sakazuki can justify it all he wants but what he did is still wrong
its easy to say the means justify the ends when ur not the one making sacrifices
No, evil's nature is different depending on where it originates from. Even if two people are evil, it doesnt mean they both are of the same evil. There is a difference in the evil of Akainu compared to the evil of Doflamingo
Yeah I think Akainu is going to try to implement martial law with the Navy against the CDs and criminals
akainu is a fanatic willing to kill people including those who are supposed to be on the same side as him for the sake of protecting an evil government
You were right up until thr end
Akainu hasnt expressed any desire to protect the government
All this so celestial dragons can eat 500 more lbs of lobster btw
what is the point of exterminating pirates if not to protect the wg
He acts that way cause he genuinely thinks he’s saving the world
his own sense of duty and glory
He tells Kuma/PX-0 why
To “protect the public”
given the first thing he thinks of when he hears about the doflamingo situation is "how will this affect our reputation"
Haven’t really gotten that impression from him
Same reason he calls Ohara a sacrifice
He strikes me as a dude who don’t care for titles or praise
Same reason he screams in marineford about “eradicating wvil”
Yeah but they still did things that are just as horrible so even if its different nobody is better
Evil*
Or admiration
he doesnt need admiration but he has his own sense of duty
Akainu genuinely believes what he’s doing saves the world
Well his reputation in particular, he thinks what happened with Doffy makes him look incompetent and unfit as a fleet admiral
and wont let anything sully it
Akainus interactions with the other sides of the government has been nothing but hostile and antagonistic
He’s a Navy fanatic, not a government fanatic
Yeah he has a hate boner for pirates but is indifferent at best to the people he protects who are just as bad if not far worse
That’s low-key why Akainu wearing the basic navy cap is such a good design choice
Thats true
It communicates that his fervor runs deep for the Navy
He wears the same basic hat a new recruit wears
Akainu and dragon probably agree on a lot of things
he reminds me of a preacher that is racist/homophobic/whatever bc he misinterpreted the bible
“Misinterpret”
yea
That’s a good point, I accept it
Akainu really only defends the WG at all because he thinks it's something necessary for any sort of order and also just because the marines as a whole are meant to answer to the WG, but he doesn't necessarily love them or anything
Ain’t no misinterpreting lol the Bible says fuck em
Yeah but he is still choosing to side with them because he is blinded by his hatred for pirates
Until he learns how bad they really are
I think it’s really just “the navy works for the WG”
He knows about their slavery but idk how much more he’s aware of
Once he learns about Imu, it’s gonna be “we can’t work for them lets work for us”
The navy were cut off from Lulusia so probably not much beyond that
no it doesnt. and there are swaths of people using their misinterpretations of the bible to spread hate
At least, nothing the government wanted him to know
The Bible is full of hate
It calls those people abominations and says god hates them
There’s no misinterpretation, that’s straight up what it says to feel
He knows lol
Only thing he doesnt know about is Big Mu
Big Mu
If Sakazuki really cared about justice the way he thinks he does he coulda stayed like garp and not have become a professional charlos attack dog
Nothing stopping him from staying a vice admiral and continuing from there
Well Akainu also isn’t a good person
That’s what I meant
Akainu is a more extreme version of Sengoku in many ways
very
granted we havent actually seen a lot of what sengoku has done, for better or worse
he kinda just said "yeah ill look the other way if the WG does anything bad :3"
Yeah
Apparently not much
Ohara and Roger Son Hunting were all done by Kong
if akainu was fleet admiral during the whole roger/ace/rouge pregnancy shit what would he have done differently
he probably wouldve gone further
just bomb the whole island?
Sakazuki is different though because Sengoku wouldn't have killed thousands to catch one POTENTIAL criminal
yeah maybe
Yeah a buster call probably
Sengoku created sword btw
Headcanon piece
If you say so
sword is such a cheat by oda to create an objectively "good" split of the marines
its hard to say how much real damage they did to pregnant women bc while there were orders given to kill suspicious ppl they also said later on that there was nothing found so its def not explicit
the WG has literally no reason to keep them around
Do you think Akainu would have ordered the murder if innocent mothers and children?
I think he he was motivated to kill ace, mostly because ace did become a pirate, a criminal
I kinda agree only because we already have a "true good" faction
i think hed just bomb the whole island that they're suspecting of having ace's mother (+ ace) on
Idk if Akainu would have been on board with the indiscriminate y killing of innocent mothers and children,
SWORD is fine but Im kinda shocked its allowed to exist
theres no real purpose for it in universe i feel
the WG already has cipher pol for undercover
why allow this splinter group that has no oversight
Holy fuck is autocorrect cancer for anyone else recently?
why not? if it's for the sake of finding a pirate or the devil spawn of a pirate
So they can do things the Marines are not normally permitted to do
It’s a question of why the government would agree to it ans that’s where Sengoku being the former fleet admiral comes in
but they have cipher pol for that
Yeah but Cipher Pol bows to the WG
Sengoku tells Garp you gotta get to the top of the ladder to make changes
Fleet Admiral was able to create a program without government approval
Sword bows more to the Marines specifically but still have their own freedom
If akainu was okay with killing the entire ohara evacuation ship bc of the chance there was 1 scholar on board, i have no reason to doubt he'd be okay with killing an entire island bc of the chance that the king of the pirates son was there
Yeah but I think its crazy someone like Sakazuki allows that to still exist
I know that obviously joining sword has drawbacks too but still lol
If Akainu thinks sword is still helping to eliminate or combat pirates idk why he would
That's a good point
Akainu probably fucks heavy with a Navy division that disobeys the restrictions imposed on them by the rest of the government
he def would’ve
ive had beef with autocorrect for so long
Especially cause they can do things without going through the chain of command for approval, such as fighting the emperors for example
Yeah I am leaning toward that he would have now
He’s currently frustrated with how limited he is due to byoorockcracy
Actually I'm more surprised Sengoku allowed them to exist
Fr bruh shit is ass now
Since he is more about following orders than absolute justice
and he wasnt fond of the warlords
That’s not true
Sengoku hated the orders to cover up impel downs break up
If sword didnt exist there wouldnt have been a single marine who could have gone to save Koby aside from like Garp I guess
and Garp only gets to do that cause of his hero status and strength
The current captain of sword, Drake, was raised by Sengoku
Drake used sword to do what Corazon did, infiltrate a pirate crew
Sengoku also raised Corazon
Sengoku and Corazon answered calls with code words
Just like Drake did with Koby, another member of sword
Sengoku told Garp you need to reach the top of the ladder to make changes
He didn’t just allow it, he obviously created it
I feel the admirals probably have the authority to
Good point
I'd say the most surprising thing is the WG itself not preventing sword from existing, like idk how the gorosei havent demanded Akainu to shut it down yet
Corazon and Koby, the Garp and Sengoku deciples
They probably see it as potentially convenient to get rid of problem soldiers
Soldiers who are liable not to follow orders will be drawn to the sword program
Idk they only really act when the WG itself has a vested interest in something enough to warrant it, or if celestial dragons are getting attacked
Which means an easier way to cut them loose
Otherwise they don't actually do a whole lot
honestly thats the most convincing idea to me
though i still dont really get the whole open resignation thing
Corazon I think is a character who would have changed the story a lot if he lived
a sword member does something bad and the WG goes "nuh uh we actually let them go already so not our problem"
Most of the other times admirals do stuff it's when they weren't supposed to
cause like koby is still seen as a hero and marine in the public eye
Yeah but I mean if they wanted to I think they definitely could
marines in general do good, but their are corrupt elements. People rather deal with Koby then Arlong.
They can invoke your resignation at any time is all
Yeah and that's why Sakazuki is a hypocrite
He is a hypocrite
most people in this world are.
That’s like a big aspect of his character
They're strong enough to yes, but most of them don't think like Garp and because of that they won't just do things their own way all the time if they aren't meant to. Fujitora is kind of the exception where he actually works against the WG sometimes
Robin was a lap dog for crocodile
To an extent. She lied about plutons location tho
oh in the end, yeah she hid that. The bodies she laid in the streets a decade before that though....
Like Kizaru is strong enough to go do what he wants, but he doesn't see himself as much more than a tool of the Marines and the WG as a whole, which is why he could never commit to saving Vegapunk
I agree I'm just saying the have the AUTHORITY to not whether or not they actually would
That's not hypocrisy
thats fair, that is just brutality.
She never wanted to be a good person
Until enies lobby
The straw hats changed her for good
People are quick to forgive Robin
I dont know if she wanted to be a good person at enies lobby. She just found a will to live.
But ig she was trying to survive
Yeah she was
but they don't really have the authority to, they could do things against the wishes of the WG and get away with it because they're too important of an asset to just kill, not that they were given the authority to do it
that is true, you can argue she had to compromise herself in order to survive. That is fair.
she knew what she was doing was wrong, but was willing to do it to make a living. It was ultimately finding where pluton was where she was like okay....not going to give away WMDs to this nut job.
There were other options. She is incredibly smart, she could’ve done a million other things besides killing people
Robin is a war criminal
robin is making up for her past mistakes, whether you think it matters or not its another issue entirely
Akainu does it because of delusional justice. Robin does it so she can collect a bonus that year
Lmaooo
You think that coat was cheap?
Well SWORD stuff is all handled by the marines, we dont know how much the government would interfere with that
she was literally being hunted by everyone as a kid but sure lets have her work at the grocery store for a living
I was just thinking those outfits of hers are probably like 50k berries a piece
Has she ever considered a disguise
Damn what y'all think of the candle is a holy knight doing the garland thing theory
Is she stupid ?
Infiltration
But yeah, we forgive her because we get to know her closely and what put her on that path, and she's obviously doing something better now, but like, no one forced her to work with Crocodile
Pirates
yeah, she saw her talents would be highly valued by him
if by forced you mean physically forcing then yea
he deserved it
No, I think she has too much history for that. Garling wasn't infiltrating either. He just happened to stop by. It was more fate than anything
AURA
Garling got lucky, 100%
should've kept him nailed to the wall so he doesn't spend his time peeping on his daughter bathing
Would explain maymaner name
im not a pre ts apologist, but the one thing you can’t take away from it was how cool robin was
At the very least her being a holy knight would really explain why brook knew them
Idk how common is holy knights knowledge
I mean an admiral or fleet admiral probably could ask them to do something and just tell the WG that they did it of their own accord, but I do think SWORD is largely doing these things without being asked to by any higher ranking Marines like that. Maybe Fujitora couldve encouraged them or something
I can't see why Candelle would spend actual decades in a kingdom, rising up to the postion of captain in the battle convoy and then marrying the king eventually...for what?
to not live like a CD....
yeah, I am not buying it
She's not that old, she'd have actually spent most of her life in Esperia
Maybe she's an ex CD and that's why Imu take sober shuri and kills her
Punishment for leaving
anyway op fans hate seeing powerful women
their first instinct upon seeing candice is saying shes evil
what point would it serve for a holy knight to be sent to a random kingdom?
we all know there is one person who was jokingly forshadowed to commit treason against Esperia....
I mean 8 years confirmed
But other than that
Powerful people are evil
They let CDs leave all the time if they really want, Imu didn't give a crap
Probably didn't even know
They did
Because they wouldn't let dofflmaingo back in
That was probably less Imu and more everyone else
Imu doesnt' really bother with everyday affairs
Okay sure but doffy isn't Imus maid
Yeah that's the part
So it's different situation compelatlty
Doffy also was acting more crazy and psycho by taking his dead dad's head back, I think it was probably more that, that said "nope" then him having left.
Yeah idk
It was probably either the gorosei or the holy knights who decided that Doflamingo shouldn't be able to come back to the holy land
I don't think Candelle was either
She was captain of the battle convoy and has married the king and lived with him for at least 7 years
Her mother is a CD
CP0, CP9...ect, those are the infiltration units. Holy Knights are the kidnap and do whatever they please units.
I mean it depends
If she was really a world noble she woulda taken the baby as soon as she was born lol
It's not like she can escape him if she was a HK or had Imu's contract, he can literally find them anywhere in the world and force them to return if he so chooses
Not if it's the first contract.
no, they sent agents to infiltrate. then HK went to recruit loki. They are not sneaking around elbaf, they are laying waste to it.
She’s fully clothed so we don’t see the covenant tattoo
Less infiltration, more just all out raid. They weren't trying to blend in
Well holy knights also seem to handle issues between celestial dragons, as they were the ones who handled and executed Mjosgard
No one cares about the first, Imu sure doesn't you don't even get to see Imu unless you have the later contracts
It was definitely didn't want to be spotted at the begining that's infiltration. Sneaking into a foreign country is infiltration
they are confirmed a level above a standard CD.
Your just sounding silly now
You said why would a CD infiltrate
I mean they throw around some guards, left witnesses and them alive..... CP0 would never do that.
? That's literally what was said. You don't get to even see Imu unless you have a deep or abyss covenant
Gunko has had an abyss covenant for decades
The only way she's been able to live this long is because she has the ultimate covenant pact. That's the only one that comes with full immortality. She had the covenant but not the political rank. That didn't come until later
I guess will find out next week than
well....she could have the other thing
we still havent seen an earlier user of the Ope Ope no MI
law vs loki who wins
I guess that's possible, but who would have had the fruit and given up their life for Shuri? Unless it's Candelle herself
She died to save her daugher's life?
That would be cool and fit
yeah, that is my thinking
That would change a lot of the dynamic
Law high diff
and would help explain why Gunko has immortality as a GK
She had it before she was a GK, she had it before she was even a blade
She is frozen as a 20 year old forever...ect.
Maybe that's why Imu was interested in her? The only other immortal being on earth that's not part of his house?
Well...except for Sugar I guess
the other thing is Imu collects kings/royals. an immortal royal might make him intrigued.
especially if both parents are dead, that makes Shuri the ruler
I don't think he collects royals? He doesn't even care about them from what he himself said
everybody he has personally used a covenant on (DR or GK) has been a king or CD.
I think he had the original 20, but that was for his original takeover. I don't think he needs more royals post that.
It seems like being royalty is a requirement for becoming a knight at least
Even if you're not from the 20 families
I think that's more because they are already sworn to him. All the CDs are his servants by right. And he's used DR on people that weren't kings too.
who???
I mean who Imu personally used a convenant on.
if you dig into it, Imu only interacts with kings
I think the king part he was asking of Dorry and Broggy was more for him being able to easily take over Elbaph by dealing only with the leader, not because they actually were kings
he declared them kings, then made the convenant
Also, none of the Davy clan were kings, and Rocks was no king, and all of the men under broggy and Dorry weren't kings
Imu said he saw Rocks as a king before he fully converted him

Again, I don't think that in order to make the covenant, but because of him wanting to take over Elbaph in a swift and orderly manner
I don't think he did, and that counts even more for the rest of his family who were DRd first
I am just saying, in every instance so far, that has been the one constant. Shuri is also a king
She is not a king?
once her father died, and assuming her mother is dead, she is the ruler.
We would call that a queen, but also since the nation is no more, there is no more monarchy, so it wouldn't count either way
I should have kept it more gender neutral in my point. The ruler of the land
He's referring to the "puppet" part, not the king lol
Damn shits kind scrZy like how come he could make him his solder but not Luffy and Loki
That is why Imu on Elbaf is confused on how he is suppossed to interact with Elbaf if they dont ahve a ruler
they may be actual gods in a sense now, not rulers....ect.
Interesting
He explained that, when he talked to Sommers, having a king would make the take over easier. That's why Sham and Gunko's first plan was recruit Loki because a central ruler is much easier to control than a whole group of people. Even Sham said it would basically get messy otherwise
yea, that probably is it, or something similar. Theyre gods, or have fruits of gods or whatever
it probably isnt strength based since luffy obviously is not above rocks yet
yeah, Imus first act of getting on Elbaf is to declare new kings so he can form a convenant with them
At this point we can see they are much stronger than Rocks was. I don't think Rocks could take Imu's actual form
Neither can Loki tbf
I'm thinking it's because they awakened a fruit but even that's kinda weird
Again, we know that's not always true, as he DR'd the entire Davy clan with not one king among them
Some people on the crews didn't change
Loki likely ahs teh blood of the old gods, and he ate a god fruit. Imu cant convenant taht.
I think he's doing better than Rocks, personally
We dont know Imu did that. It could have been his minions like Garling.
I think it probably has more to do with the character of the person he tries to DR
luffy is not stronger than rocks 💔
I mean
The contract would still be the same regardless
Ragnir is canonically stronger than Rocks...
no it isnt, that is my point.
then you got ragnir above luffy too
it’s the fruits
Not sure about Luffy, but if he's able to take on Imu after Loki, I have to push him up there
Luffy is stronger than him too
Like specifically the fruits that have or just any deicls fruit
luffy>rocks
based on what
Imu can give powers to his minions who can use their powers in ways even Imu can't. Imu has limits as we see, which is why he shed his inky form.
I'd say Kaido comfortably surpassed Rocks
Luffy and Loki don’t “lust for power”. They’re not affected by Domi Reversal. Something like that.
Even if you don't want to count them, Rocks wasn't a king either, and no that panel did not mean Imu thought of him as one
it’s the fruits, it’s not that complicated
People would have been just all about xebec
I dont think loki would count under that
We don’t know that
It could mean that. You cant have Imu calling him a puppet of a king, and say he never said the word king lol
then how do we know it’s some kind of “lust for power”
Loki has also been characterized as very Luffy-like. He’s basically Luffy but a giant.
And a dick
Because that’s how Imu talks about the power of corruption.
They do, they just don't go about it in the same way Imu describes for omen. As he says, everyone want to become more powerful, but with Omen, it's the idea that you are taking a short cut to get there
theyre similar in some ways but this is not a "luffy but giant" thing. Theyre still very different too
Dorry and Broggy have no “lust for power”
we dont know.
“When power lusted after is too easily gained.”
it’s def because of the fruits
this is also true
It also changes your nature. So if there’s some part of you even deep down that craves power then you’re susceptible to DR.
I also think its because of the fruits
I think its D blood with the fruits, I think it means its basically a perfect unity. Like Demalo Black with Nidhoggr fruit might not be immune.
Conquerors haki clearly isnt why
He was referring specifically about Harald? Who was a king and a puppet. Rocks was never a king in fact if anything Imu is emphatically against the Davys having anything to do with kings
if this counts for dorry and brogy and all these other people this would definitely count for loki
Maybe it doesn’t
rocks is a D though
without a fruit
if it counts for Dorry and Broggy then it counts for Loki. He wants to be king of the world
a god fruit
you'd be fighting an uphill battle for how this doesnt work for loki but does for everyonbe else
it makes sense
could you read this as Imu actually calling Rocks a puppet king too?
Its the only thing luffy and loki share outside conquerors haki
that’s interesting so you’re saying Loki is a D?
And like I said conquerors isnt why from the looks of things
You can always reword "lust for power" to be the same as "wanting to get stronger", it's just a nicer less evil way to say that.
Loki wants to be FREE
Elbaf is of the D. And Loki was born with the blood of an old god/dragon (eyes.)
wasn’t Imu specifically talking about Harald here and how sucectible he is to being controlled as well?
yes, but then he says hes just like you.
I thought it was clear imu was bragging about harald being so willing to work with the government
so Loki and Luffy don’t want to be stronger? That makes no sense
What if Imu sees the davy in a way as a line of kings, and Rocks is next in line.
Unlike other kings that refused to be anything but secular
even though Imu is a jerk about it and says Davy was never king to piss Rocks off
I see
He does, but more so free from captivity. He's okay with have certain responsibilities, he's not completely like Luffy
They do. That's why Imu states that everyone has a lust for power aka a desire for strength
Loki wants to be the king of the world, he def wants to be stronger or have “power” it’s not that
The D are half the puzzle, Half moons
It's the second part they don't have.
and you could make some arbitrary arguemnt that Loki doesnt fit "lust for power", you're just really jumping through hoops to explain how he doesnt lust for power, but dorry, brogy, etc do
socrates was right, loki and luffy are immune to domi reversi because their fruits are legendary
yeah so what archer is saying doesnt work. Theyre not immune because they don’t have “lust for power”, that makes no sense with those 2, manly Loki.
"Curses don't stack"
it probably will just be due to fruits. And this may answer whatever chopper is doing too
yep, I think the Harley supports this
Everyone wants to get stronger, but the difference is: Are you willing to work on it and going about it the right way (haki) or are you going to go about it the easy way and become subserviant in the desire for power (maki)?
yep
I think its both, because Imu realizes Ragnir found a true heir that can be resistant to Mu. It isnt just the fruit, its the wielder too.
we know this part already though 🥀
the issue is explaining how dorry brogy and others fit this description but loki doesnt
Loki has said and done more things that sound like he "lusts for power" than these other people who DR actually worked on
Loki is just different
the only thing Luffy and Loki have in common in this instance is the fruits
This is also true. If it was simply the fruit, Imu wouldn't have bothered to keep asking Loki to join him.
Yeah I really think its just the fruits, the maki angle feels like overthinking it
huh
whats makes loki special, is it his strong will or his ancient special genes or maybe a combo of both
Imu also wouldn’t have tried if it was the fruits
Loki's body is special
Strength is one, but he has eyes of a dragon. That may not have been seen in elbaf in an age.
he literally says after “as expected” so that’s not true
But if it was only the fruit, why would Imu keep asking? The fruits alone would mean it would never work?
Loki is built different than those other giants
He literally says it wouldnt have worked because of joyboy and nidhogg
Not because their will was in them or something
Still tried it
The only thing those 2 have also is the fruits
uh yeah but he knew it wasnt going to work
His blood is close to when dragons may have first created ancient giants
worth a shot
When I think about it then it’s something like
Because likely the process of a devil inside someone just prevents dr would be my guess
But he also, just before that, offered it to Loki again. Knowing what fruit he has.
You cannot possess someone who is already inhabited by a devil
That makes no sense. Imu is able to fully take over and control people with DFs
he offered the abyss mark , not domi reversi
exactly
Imu’s “influence” reaching and the person has to in some way be susceptible to that influence of the power to be corrupted. And that doesn’t work on certain types of people.
that makes no sense tho
But surely Imu would be aware that he can't domi reversi people with devil fruits
YOU don’t make sense
okay archer
Now that part makes no sense either, Rocks was one of the most independant people ever and that didn't save him
I think it’s just those 2 fruits specifically
exactly
The only reason he tried is to let the audience know it can't be done. Otherwise he would have just said "I know I can't possess either of you...joyboy and nidhogg."
But he knew they had those when he tried it?
And that would have confused the readers
It’s probably not conscious. Dorry and Brogy aren’t the kind of people to turn on their own kind either.
yes, that’s why he said “as expected” right after
Aluerax
Literally think it was just to let us know he couldn't by showing it
Otherwise he'd just state he can't
It’s also probably not independence that saves you because that didn’t save Rocks. He was susceptible to corruption.
We're still reading a shonen here at the end of the day
I'm leaning more towards what Jesus said that it's specifically these 2 fruits
I guess eventually the'll let us know what's going on with those two
Jury still out if its just these fruits or all DF in general
There's also the fact chopper can slap the DR out of people
Oh yeah lol
it’s like Laww said earlier, your explanation of it is just filled of holes
That's so funny
So really a lot of stuff is up in the air currently
Slapping the demon out of them
blackbeard also has the dark sun symbol when he uses his fruit
Make a list of people that can’t be corrupted by DR under these criteria
I think that's a vortex
I kinda hope this Brook/Gunko flashback explains Imu’s powers more
Luffy, Loki, Yamato uhhh
It's made so much funnier by the fact that it's Chopper

Bare minimum we might get details on the covenant
hope so
I don't think Brook knows who Imu is, so I'm not sure if he would get any of that
Mainly the fact Chopper can slap them out got me thinking it’s all fruits
Otherwise I’d just assume it’s fruits to do with a God or something
anyone but usopp
Forest God…
Brook might have not seen him but the flashback will just make our view omnipresent
doesnt matter, we can see another viewpoint of the flashback
We are definitely going to see imu and gunko talk
Literally what i said
happened with Loki

We might see Imu's real human form
Like loki was narrating but we saw way more than his pov
That's likely to happen again
Brook will just explain his side of things in the entire affair
But we'll know more about why gunko was taken by imu
Any veiwpoint of the flashback would be good since we haven't seen it yet 🤣
Is this not what he looks like
It would be cool to see him show this form to his men more often
Did Oda do a fake face reveal
We do know they've seen it before
It's a transformation
It's also as real as you're going to get, so you might as well like it
Exactly
Nah think about it
How do you know he’s smaller
People keep wanting to downgrade Imu because they can't take how awesome he is
Because we saw him compared to Gunko
You mean in his shadow form?
Yeah
Yeah that’s shadow form though
That's not his normal form
His power limiter form
Cropping out the character that shall not be named
Oda would have given Imu his title box to his shadow form if that was actually him, rather than waiting until now
That's his "cocoon" fom
Yeah the shadow form just makes him smaller
When he uses some of his actual power like against sabo he grows a lot bigger
Think about it
Yo I’m so smart
It's more funny to me it's not a silhouette and he really was just walking around as a black blob with a comically large crown
shadow form makes his size basically irrelavant
Also his poor new servant because we know it's not Gunko anymore
his new Lili
Well, he wasn't a "blob" persay, we saw he had actual cloth and gloves, and skin, etc.
He loves blue hair man
He probably has more than one, why would everyone else have a bunch of slaves and not Imu?
Yeah
If he's opening up to Vivi and being intimate in a way he's not with anyone else
Reminding me of uh x and y from insert other series

But yeah his Elbaf form absolutely towers over normal humans
This is so tough
one day
eventually
Yeah
have to get through a lot of shenanigans
Oda's got too many flashbacks left to go
yea lowkey
Who else is getting one
Luffy and Blackbeard vs Imu
We need the long and expansive VC flashback. We need the BB flashback, the Dragon flashback, the possible Akainu flashback
putting so little teach in the frame is pretty lame
small ones for Issho and Aramaki
I don't think Shanks has anymore left to really show
For Shanks it's just the spaces in between
Greenbull flashback would feed no one
sure
I think Oda can squeeze out a little more shanks backstory
He's the same size as Luffy, he should be happy to get that much
shanks I think will get done wrong in terms of flashback time
like he's gonna barely get anything or be a side character in someone else's flashback
What's left? We have him as a baby, a child, a young adult, an adult!
Uhhhhhh
Yes
I guess I can see snippets, sure. Just not a full flashback
Shanks and Loki, Shanks and BB, Shanks and Sham
Shanks and Roger
Oh yeah...Mihawk
no shanks flashback sounds crazy
Are you not that excited
yea its needed for the akainu redemption arc
I don't give a crap about Mihawk
mihawks flashback is really intriguing
What about the Gil revival
we know so little of how he fits into the world
🤫
Who's gil?
Oda doesn't remember he exists
gil bastar?
That’s why he’ll get his flashback before getting low diffed by Shiryu
🥹
the ghost guy from rocks' crew?
Are hints discussion allowed here?
Or sword holy knight I guess
No
No
I don’t think so
in spoiler chat
Tho there hasn't been anything significant there
color scheme for Zou is so good
Gil didnt get a single line and got no real introduction he’s just kinda there in some panels
Not open
I’m pretty sure he wasn’t even in that one color spread of the Rocks pirates
Bro chill
Don’t switch up when Toei animates wanted
Akainu don't need a redemption but just a little realisation that at some point he stopped serving Justice protecting the Celestial Dragons
Son
They’re gonna do it
I mean I can see it when they get to lodestar
Oda might as well stop hiding and just make all of the wanted one shots canon
nope
the first time I read the manga was in color it was a great time but there’s something about the black and white
no need to talk about hints anyways since the general spoilers are going to be out tomorrow regardless.
It’s the volume
Black and white feels more dimensional
I have a soft spot for black and white too. I was a real hardliner against colored manga in the past lol
That means you have to wait until it is 👍
Neither 😭
Why not
Need a palate cleanser
https://x.com/rii_A_/status/2058891366202290207?s=20
And he’ll probably be back in a flashback or something
There
Wow thanks
Yeah I think stepping down and letting the next generation take the reigns is his best play.
Only after he gets his crap beat in by Sabo
akainu will be near death, sabos about to kill him, when kizaru flies in and saves him and they go live on an abandoned island without bothering anyone else
peak
Can see Sakazuki going either way but I do have to admit him changing as a person under the circumstances of the World Government endangering the public sounds interesting
I mean thats a given at this point
Even Sakazuki has limits to how much he's willing to sacrifice
No way its not Sabo who fights akainu
He still tells himself it's all for the safety of the public
the volume release? does it have a different quality?
what made you change your mind?
Colored is comfy and it's easier on my eyes in later arcs
it's a quality digital coloring
so no reason to be so elitist about it
also my SO has only read colored and she got me into it
Wano colored is good
you can more easily tell apart all the different biomes
and Onigashima has some very cluttered pages
for earlier arcs I do actually prefer black and white
Wano colors hurt my eyes. I just pretend everything is in black and white
They're like "Oda what color?"
And he said "ALL OF THEM!"
thats what he said with Elbaf too
yall liked the chapter?
more brook backstory is peak
I don't think Water 7 - Summit War benefit much from color but early One Piece and modern One Piece absolutely do
Adds a lot of clarity these days with how inconsistent Oda is and how dense his panels get.
and in the first stretch of the series the cartooniness of it is really suited to solid blocks of coloring that really bring the world to life in a way everyone who's seen the anime even once in their lives kinda takes for granted
Late 00s he had REALLY crisp, and comparatively detailed/rendered work compared to the rest of the series tho
oda’s b/w art is nice but it doesn’t really benefit from being in b/w like some other series can
Crocodile is honestly one of the characters hurt by it the most
All the dithering he used was 100% intended for black and white specifically, the bleed effects are completely lost
That's a rare L for the colored manga tho most of it is totally fine
this looks amazing.
BW Crocodile really plays with fades, his body practically liquifying with his attacks, that I felt the color version lost by adding defined color transitions
He's so immaterial in the original comic
Not the same panels cuz I don't remember what chapter the ones I nabbed off Google are from but w/e
Friend, are you still there?
bot account
i did my first readthrough using the colored version
almost hurt me to go to b/w
Oda's BW art somehow pops a lot more in physical copies
theres something extremeley pleasant about how i looks on the page. Pages that people post and complain are messy and hard to decipher details of in digital versions
I think are like very pleasant to look at in physical print. I think its cause he uses some heavy blacks but doesn't overuse them, so they're like kinda interspersed across the page in a satisfying but not so verwhelming way
idk how to explain it
can kinda see it here
Zaza
Legit, the art people complain about online is some low quality tcb or op scans of leaks
Yeah right now I'm obsessed with physical one-piece, I enjoyed my egghead read sooooo much all physical
I love her design, the final spread was beautiful
My shit is all over the place, I have 1-9 in shounen jump , 10-25 in omnibus 39-45 in omnibus than 103-104 skipped 105 than 106-111
Good chapter
all the money is going to oda and thats what matters
just keep buying
Really tho the arms are somewhat similar maybe not the same but maaaaybe like shiny at another god robin is imaged as but yeah zaza is great!
Lol only when stuff is on sale
I'll probably eventually run out of room for all the volumes but I got cabinets underneath my bookshelf wall that I can just store the actual box set holders in
Man that's why I gotta prioritize onepeice first than dragon ball
I'm the opposite lol
Prioritizing the stuff I can easily finish
I miiiiiiight look to get the remaining like
28 volumes of Miuras Berserk I'm missing too?
I think all of it would fit on one shelf
I feel that but usually physicals are reread materials for me as of right now 😭
Not buying the deluxe ones they're expenny and huge
I would prefer stuff I didn't read but onepeice I like rereading so much it seems worth it even after reading it ,😭
They doo go on sale alot tho!
Bro cheap still but
get Berberk
I don't trust current digital uploads to last forever with the way the landscape keeps changing
Recommend Deluxe edition because Dark Horse singles aren't the best quality
I so feel that
God knows movies are already a migraine unless you're pirating everything
Which is why I actually buy DVDs again
Tbh the quality in DVD and blue rays are better than streaming anyways
At least I'm audio quality is always better
Ik
There's an additional shelf I can slot into the middle column of this that I've just removed for now since I got nothing but decor on it atm anyway
But yeah I genuinely don't know if I'll be able to fit op lmao
Still gotta finish DBZ, Land of the Lustrous and Peanuts
So much I freaking want In here lol
Probably could if the fuckin air ventilation wasn't installed into the top shelf
Just throw out all this manga without pictures there obsolete in this day an age 😂
Im kidding! Don't throw out books ever!
It's a nice set up tho I like the symmetry
wym there is a lot of free space
I could throw out ayn rand
throw out those ugly ass pots
These are decor that came with the house I'm only holding onto as temp space fillers
Store spices soul in tho pots !
I've already thrown out like 3 others as I've gotten more books
Only reason the stuffed animals are on there too
It looked worse blank
But basicly is if you want tho shelf space filled with onepeice or something else 😂
Yeah this is the problem
OP I think I can fit 45 volumes of per shelf
Unless this series ends by volume 135 so it all fits into 3 idk if that's happening
I almost went crazy trying. To predict how much longer it was going to be today
It's it's maddening. It could be like 2 years or it could be 7!
I could be vile and slot additional volumes sideways on top of the standing ones if I only need a few more
Or finally get rid of that entire set of the Japanese release of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou lol
Idk what id even do to get rid of that, not gonna throw em out and won't give an import to a local charity
You can read Japanese or you just got em cus lol either way that's cool
who doesnt like the art
Back when it seemed like there was no hope of an official translation I just got em since I already know the whole story and love the artwork, wanted SOMETHING for a hard copy
Now I own the entire English release
I have 42 volumes per shelf
is your name a reference to Nas's album
True fan!
Yeah lol best rap album ever conceived !
Only one of my favorites I don't outright own is uh....
Gon? Which is annoying, expensive and weird to track down
when were the officially translated for u?
Not a priority I'll pray for a rerelease to make it simpler
absolutely
here they began getting translated in the year 2000
I think YKK finished last year
It was recent
what is YKK?
ah
Like the dinosaur? I got lucky and my library had em when I was a teen it was like 🤯 cus I ddint know it was a manga till than
Yeah love that guy
my favorite tekken character
He's not a Yujiro fan 😔
I would beat up my sister's friends with him constantly 😈
thats aura
Man I really do wanna get rid of these hideous pots but I don't wanna spend anything on something I won't even need within a year
I keep checking goodwill for some crap to throw in their place for cheap and nothing's usable
Its torture
Got a bunch of em in my tv cabinet too
This house has too many built in shelves
Time to start a onepeice statue collection!
Usopp is enough
Oh shit a usopp shrine???!
God Usopp
Yeah uh
Lemme run downstairs lol
I always loved the guy
