The Jump magazine published that too the same way it published Chapter 0, the page count is really the only difference. Oda also was the one who PERSONALLY created Uta, every single detail about her is from his own notes just as it was with Shiki. Her not being introduced earlier doesnt really make any difference as long as she fits in. I have the same opinion on the HKs, Rocks or Imu not being introduced earlier.

Uta is also part of a canon that we barely know anything about lol, what have we even known about Shanks's past until Elbaf? nothing. Luffy's time with Shanks? We know about one day they spent of out of a full year lol. As for redeeming qualities, we know as much about her canon character as we did Shiki, give it some time.

I disagree with this. I think it's possible that Uta can eventually become more important, but I'm not even considering Shiki's recent involvement in the story. I think Shiki is more important to the lore of one piece with Chapter 0 alone. I would've bought your opinions on how important she actually is IF oda decided to incorporate her a bit more after Film Red.

Right now, Uta is a character who's a silhouette in the manga with a movie dedicated to her. Most of what we know about her comes from the movie, it's a grey area and you know it. Shiki on the other hand even without strong world and chapter 0 is a pirate that broke out of impel down.

I don't think Uta is gonna be involved in the later half of this story significantly, I think that ship has sailed. I personally think Oda just created a character for a movie, and decided to make her canon and we're actually the ones reading too much into this. The bottom line for me is that I believe if Uta doesn't exist in the manga, nothing changes whatsoever and it KINDA bothers me that she is canon with such little involvement.

I think you're arguing that the circumstances of their portrayal are the same in the manga in terms of page counts and stuff, but I'm arguing that Shiki's involvement in the canon is done in a much better way.

It doesn't really matter how many pages they appeared for, and whether it was just a silhouette or a titledrop. I just don't like Uta is supposedly a very important character to both Luffy and Shanks that we've only learnt about NOW. But since you brought it up, I 100% believe that Shiki's name drop being associated with breaking out of impel down is better than seeing Uta's silhouette that you WOULDNT EVEN KNOW was Uta unless you followed the whole Film red marketing campaign or watched the movie Lmfao.

Shiki was part of the world's lore in a much more subtle manner which is why I think his involvement is better. Uta is a movie character at the end of the day, and imo her being canon is a bad thing because of how little importance she actually has.
