Yes, but they don't start moving until after Whitebeard dies and Akainu overtakes them after they've neared the water. He couldn't have been going that entire time, while Whitebeard was fighting Blackbeard, and be fast enough to overtake them but somehow not reaching them until they've almost hit the water. Marineford's not big enough for that kind of variance in activity, even if we say he had to dig up vertically first or something, which wouldn't make sense given there's no reason not to take the shortest possibl route
