The story of One Piece as a whole is about overcoming oppression. That’s what it has been about from the start. We know the Red Line must fall in the end as well, both for the World Government to be destroyed and for the All Blue to be created. That leads me to believe Imu is the final boss.

Also, we have no proof that Blackbeard can steal non-standard Devil Fruit abilities like Imu’s, and as things stand, there is no way Blackbeard is touching Imu. Even if he took that power, he still would not be as strong as Imu because of the time it takes to master such abilities. Blackbeard just will not be strong enough.

We could easily see a situation where imu's defeated, or about to be, and there goes BB trying to make the world into violent freedom, and hes the last obstacle for real peace

That's the thing, I think BB (and by extension, Davy Jones) represents radical freedom of the self to the point where it becomes tyranny towards the rest, the freedom to rule all others as one sees fit. BB's goal is "the world", Davy Jones was the king of the world, and the so-called promise of Davy Jones (as said by Rocks to Imu) is that his descendant will come and usurp his throne.

The way I understand it, the will of Davy D. Jones is the usurpation of the throne for the sake of attaining lordship himself and the will of Joyboy is freedom for all, with no kings or rulers
