Gunko took the hit from Usopp but people think it looks bad because its usopp. Garling got washed by Rocks even if he came back later, Maffey got slashed in half, Killingham gets charlos'd. And none of these besides the Gunko one is followed by a good clean hit. Oda has only shown gunko as being the only one who takes advantage of the Regen while the others just take hits. i think we have to remember as well that while Loki is extremely strong and capable, he is also a rookie similair to what Luffy is, i think that this could be the closest we get to a similair fight as Katakuri vs Luffy was, where they adapt to eachother and get better together like Luffy will beat him and that's when Loki accepts Luffy as Nika, the one who he has been searching for.

while it's hard to accept that Luffy would rapidly approach the likes of Roger and Xebec i think it's natural given how far in we're into the story, Luffy is an emperor now and him taking down domi reversed Loki would definitely put a nice parallel there with Shanks as well, given Shanks took him down so many years ago, now Luffy doing the same but rescuing him from Imu's clutches?

Oden made the decision to leave the first chance he got, and it left Wano vulnerable. And Yamato's role in the story was part of a tetrad with Oden where comparison and contrast was the focus. So Yamato being in the same position as Oden but making a different decision is just a continuation of both of those aspects of the writing. Yamato learned from Oden's mistakes. Yamato making the decision after an Admiral invades the island and he sees firsthand that Wano isn't ready to handle attackers makes sense. It's not something Yamato considered before it happened, and it changed his mind. That's natural

Yamato appearing to be ready to join the crew and then we find out that he's staying just sounds like how any other plot twist is written. You're lead to expect something coming, and something different happens. What matters is if the writing bridges why something different happened

As long as the outcome the story twisted to naturally comes from the events that happened before, i don't see the problem personally.
