Women talk all the time about how they are tired of having to be strong, and they hate it when their partners try to compliment them on being strong and resilient because they desire a partner who gives them the space to be soft and vulnerable, to be carried for once instead of having to carry themselves

The Kuja are all about the reality of the "strong woman." Many stories mistakenly depict the "strong woman" as a character who goes through trauma and comes out of it a badass, unintentionally sending the idea that trauma is "worth it" because it turns women into badasses.

The Kuja are an honest depiction of what this means for women; women who go through trauma are "strong" in ways that aren't cool or something desirable. Just like Hancock's cruelty and the Kuja's strength, their defense mechanisms that are developed in response to being traumatized and abused. OP is honest about how the "strong woman" is a more than likely a woman who is weighed by some suffering and need to be strong.

Shakky is another example of this because her story is about how she's been objectified and pursued by a literal sea of men who don't see her as a person, they see her as a something to have. They regularly make advances on her and when she says no, they keep trying because they don't see her as a person with the autonomy to say no, they see her as a treasure to keep pursuing.

She falls for Rayleigh because Rayleigh treats her like a person. He has an actual conversation with her, he's not just swooning for her. Desiring a partner who sees you as a person is something many women also talk about.

Back to the "strong woman" thing, we see this depicted honestly wher Shakky puts up a front until Sommers knocks her down. He breaks her defense mechanism to exploit her vulnerability. Ray shows up and defends her, allowing her to be vulnerable.

This differenece is what they're love story is all about and why it's good. It depicts something real and important.

You can't say the plight of women is irrelevant to how the love story is written because the love is to address that

• Now KOL will defend this slavery bit from "least important to most important".

• #1 "this never happens though". Harald made a mistake but he fixed this by having his guards kill him, and calling for Loki/Jarul. It was a misplay but it didn't "cost him the match". The people of Elbaf weren't actually forced into slavery. This is why Oden isn't as good as a rule as Harald, because Oden ultimately did have the people of Wano enslaved. Everything that happened in the castle stayed in the castle. The results that people complain about never happened

• #2 Harald couldn't know that Imu's control would be so strong. All he knew was that he couldn't disobey Imu on the Holy Land. People expect too much out of Harald to foresee this.

• #3 When it comes to him being a slave, Harald was confident being able to handle any sort of slave labor/treatment done to himself alone. He'd still be able to fend off any sort of invaders to Elbaf due to his strength.

• #4 As a ruler, he's brought a tremendous amount of prosperity to Elbaf. Him saying he wants to be a slave is horrible but thanks to him, Elbaf was able to get through a huge famine. Elbaf thrived and their image as being savage warriors became much more tame. Even though they lost their culture, they thrived for decades - the people loved him. People around the world viewed the giants as much more credible. Since he saw so much success, obviously he would want to stay "down that road". Several giants joined the marines too. All of this is thanks to Harald alone.

• #5 (4b) No one else in the history of Elbaf has had the ability to do this - to wash away the bad stigma surrounding Elbaf and giants worldwide - only Harald could. He washed away anti-giant rhetoric by having them embedded in the system. He brought stability to the WG. Even though people in the East Blue/Paradise would be scared of giants, folks in the New World aren't scared of the giants anymore.

• #6 Grief. The reason why he was so willing to become a slave was because of the regret he felt from letting Rocks die. If Harald came to God Valley, he would've been able to save Rocks. The reason why he let Rocks go to God Valley is because if he went to help, it would go against so much he was working towards (read Chapter 1166). He wanted to help Rocks but didn't because he wanted to join the WG.

• The whole point is to say that Harald made a "misplay" but this 1 mistake should not discredit the history of success Harald has had throughout his kingship.

While it wasn't much, at least Ida and Harald had interactions and drama that built up the relationship in what little ways it did. Harald literally changed as a person and so did Elbaf because of Ida.
