This is a guy who was a student of Tezuka but differentiated from his early works by creating Gekiga which is the basis of seinen manga. Tezuka’s early work and most of Japan’s manga from the time were children books, this guy was writing stories about the tragedy of his life and more mature stories. There’s plenty of small stories written by him that you can find online. Just know that it can get really dark really fast
