Episode 1146: Hey batter batter, SWING! Watch ONE PIECE on Crunchyroll! https://got.cr/cc-opehi
ABOUT ONE PIECE
Monkey D. Luffy refuses to let anyone or anything stand in the way of his quest to become the king of all pirates. With a course charted for the treacherous waters of the Grand Line and beyond, this is one captain who'll never give up...
what in the goofy slideshow is this
Huge spoilers in live action
Shanks still has both arms.
Why is bonk punch so tiny
Idk bruh
I only see 1
Fake news
The point is that shanks has both arms
Nah he has 1
It’s about what he says.
Idk sounds like a bunch of bs
The real point is bonk punch looks tiny
We’ve never seen shanks stump before
Just saying.

All we saw was it get bitten off once
Then he covered where it was with cloaks.
and jackets
He’s Garlings bloodline
And Garling and shamrock regenerate
Yes
This is his plan to kill Blackbeard
What if Shanks can still regenerate and right before he's on panel he just cuts off his arm again
it's a clear joke lol
Do you realize the battle power increase
Having a hidden arm is?
Future sight ain’t helping you
Because you instinctively believe he has one arm.

Shanks GG’s everyone’s future sight haki
With a hidden arm
The best part is
As long as he kills whoever sees it
It’s always a secret baby
daily reminder rocks can't fight with one arm but shanks can so shanks > rocks confirmed
Agree
Shanks > Rocks for a few reasons
Shanks could have ate the Gomu Gomu fruit
He didn’t
He’s so strong that he was like, nah don’t need the weakness
I think that's going to tie into the destiny plot for him
Or look at shanks himself
He never ate a devil fruit
Im sure he’s seen more than one
hii i am new tto one piece can anyone tell me who are the giants seen in the skypiea and after Thriller bark any theory?
He’s probably held more than one
I could tell you
plz
The were rather large
And shrouded in mist right?
they are Imus parents
Wait you don’t know about it yet
I can’t spoil it for you bro you just started
noo as i mentioned I am new
why don't u spoil us xd
the anime is crazyyy I am really having fun what an thrill emotions story plotting lovely
Zunesha is like a giant elephant that just walks the ocean.
ohhhhhhh
So those creatures are somehow related to Zunesha
Because they give off the same shrouded effect
But because there is more of them grouped up the shroud is thicker
yeaaaa
This arrived in the mail today.
wooohhh crazyy
Arigato Brother
I can answer anything about one piece brother
is that some kind of foreign language? I don't understand it
@runic dock got the Fan Letter card.
I know what the one piece itself already is 🥲 no worries. I won the real life race to figure it out 🥲
it's my OC language for my worldbuilding project. please don't steal.
Nice! I got two new “magazine rares” lol
One sec
could it be friends made along the path?
release the information
Open your books to chapter 5
friends Journey crew......
Crotch shot Franky
Alright class open your books to chapter 5
I thought the tangerine on Nami’s head with a head bump
lol
oh shit i like the franky crotch shot lmaaoooo. i need this one now next to my cola franky.
sameeeeeee
These two would be from the latest one piece card game 3rd anniversary complete guide
Not the official op magazine
i know what to look for now
Every one piece card game complete guide magazine also comes with free cards
As well as the op magazine
this one?
Woah mama
Yep there are 3 as of now
i'm gonna check to see if our Little Tokyo has it. aside from this Fan Letter book and another card in the mail, i've stopped using ebay due to a $30 tariff i was going to be mailed for a $5 card i ordered (and then cancelled after the fact).
I released the information
Prices these days are insane
it's a dolphin. poggers
I tried to DoorDash a McDonald’s burger and fries and the total was 28 after fees and delivery
First of all that dolphin probably represents Oda but if it doesn’t it represents the dolphin queen
Oh hell naw, I didn’t realize tariffs affected that stuff already , just stick to the local shops yeah , as far as I’m aware the magazines are still the same price with usual mark up in person
Second it’s not the dolphin
i stopped using all of those food delivery services. genuinely criminal prices
Honestly same
It’s a scam
What’s the title
go oooooon
What does the title say
They think they can get away with shit now that Covid era is over nobody rich like that anymore lol
i now don't have my awesome HIbari full art cause of this shit. woe is me.
3 dolphins and luffy and zoro.
Who is the pirate king in chapter 5?
The fact that Shanks is one-armed is one of the best things about him
He’s not tho
Rocks could only gain more aura if he was a one-armed swordsman
Shanks has both arms
me no know
I am confused
He chooses to use one
i am
Close enough. Not quite haki
I don't understand
Let’s just say even shanks has made mistakes.
His biggest mistake is why he is so kind
no one knows what he talks about
Read a title
i miss spice
Brother
Tree, my man, you are operating on another plane of existence. This is 2deep4me.
One piece goes deeper than that
Who is the strongest character in all of OP? Who has the best feats as a stand alone character?
WB. My answer is biased.
One piece is the opposite.
Not even close
Whitebeard gets one shot
No diff
it's so over for me
don't tell me, your favorite anime is demon slayer
Nerona Imu holds the power to erase countries. Never did it to Wano. Out of pure fear of causing some crazed maniac from Wano killing them later.
umm. he just got the juice for it
Not even close. The government did the void century. Nerona Imu is the government.
Or it was just plot
Or shirano was a god knight.
And got sent to hell in one tap no diff.
Biggest feat in series so far
Oda did say shirano was a master swordsman and one of the best.
imu didn't wipe out syrup village because he wanted readers to suffer for calling him an incel
That jobber
Ryuma was that much better.
the biggest ongoing feat in the series is Magellan's bowel movements
One shotted
Magellan fan spotted
You ever seen another character with that weird hand motion using a sword?
who is that man?
yes, luffy
I feel like I’ve seen a character use that exact hand motion while using a sword
Weird
wait are we posting os panels?
I don’t know what that’s from but if that is the case I’d delete that
@ashen perch did you write this
https://fixupx.com/musingsofohara/status/1978905541192593677?s=46
Oh whoops
Yea VIZ got onto it iirc
Yea, took em a while but they've been getting to doing more additional OP material lately
Ye
This one is coming soon
Cover reveal!
One Piece: Law’s Story releases October 28, 2025
Pre-order now: https://t.co/zvZFhbhDeR

the trick is to pick the best manga no one ever reads
picks Fist of the North Star
queen of heart's abs live rent free in my head
if you can call it abs
ab?
@olive sigil
sanjuan loves Law
does he hate it?
Sanjuan are you injured where does it hurt
he's going to point to the server itself
i personally have a voodoo doll of Oda i point to
the eyes
every time I see anything related to that guy, my eyes hurts, I vomit, my head hurts and I start punching walls
smh i like Law
Sanjuan hates law
😍
I still haven't read it
Is it canon
Excitement
it's canon if i like it and non-canon if i hate it
I can’t argue with this logic
Go read it for me
We basically already know Law's story
Not enough people felt bad for him so he’s making up more stuff
Some of it might be interesting though. But I care less about something dedicated to his
Give me Kidd's story
This one is just for San Juan
i can't read though....
A real one piece fan…
I like Ace as a character but I don't really care about reading his novels either lol
🥹
Give me liberty give me fire give me useless kid’s backstory
There wasn't enough material
He did. In the SBS.
Oh there's plenty
God bless the sbs
His backstory is so unimportant it got relegated to the sbs
Who is this guy bruh
It’s Oda!
I don’t think he looks like that
That’s the thing
they're ugly
So they don’t get bullied surely
A man born in a war torn country ruled by various gangs, constantly living under with his life under threat, who eventually snaps after the woman he loves dies and subsequently conquers his home
😭
It's crazy
fans being toxic I assume

Tell them to toughen up
Buffy???? What is wrong with you. Someone call an ambulance
I'm trying to see these island wide gang wars
even ppl in japan don’t know how oda looks
The only mangaka I would probably bully is Fujimoto
I would be honored to be annihilated by a Dalek.
Kidd executing his opps. Vendettas >>>
honestly being famous without the downsides of being constantly recognized on the streets sounds nice
He's a one of the better characters in the story
He'd make it in my top 30 p easily
Top 20 prob
Don’t be famous if you don’t wanna be famous
Riches but no fame >>>>>>
japanese fans are next level tho
If that was actually his story, it actually would be interesting. If he was actually that dynamic, that is
why not if you can
That's what it was according to the SBS lol
The Seth McFarlane special
Being born a rich nepo baby but no one knows you>>>>>>>
Yeah, but dial it back to like-2

It's not even any embellishment really. That's what happened lol
The goofiest part is it was over a woman who's name was "broth splatterina"
The SBS version was about as deep as it's going to be
Though if Oda decides to ever bring him back from the dead dead, then maybe we could get an extra chapter to his life

call me crazy but if you can be rich without people sending you death threats thats even better
I can't wait for a year from now
Sb wtf
don't worry we won't get it in live action
highly doubt that we'll make it past skypiea
They might gotta make him look ''normal''
I think we will. But not much further
cuz its just gonna look so cursed
You think we can get all the way to egghead?
well the OPLA is scheduled for 10+ seasons
0% chance imo
at the moment
it's not
idk where 10 seasons takes us tho
Nah they optimistically said they'd like to do 10 seasons
It's only approved up to s3 alabasta
oh
I think the big thing with the live action is that people are going to get older
and like
once the LA viewers finally realize what we do - that One Piece sucks and Oda is a hack - the dominos will fall
Let’s talk about rocks
Wocks
Yeah it's just moving too slowly for the actors to not age out
Webec
it took 3 years for another season right
Locks
we are gonna be at marineford (maybe) and we might have to get a new Luffy actor lol
Da fuk
The LA should integrate Rocks' backstory into season 3
the live action will eventually start to dry out and that's when they'll either jump on the anime train or manga
Holy cook
or they just say "too bad" and never look back
Finally, OP is good.
One of the best characters I've seen in recent times
in terms of writing, aura and hype
"in terms of writing" LOL
I like that he doesn't force Harald to join him even tho he could have
I’ve seen TikTok’s of people getting sad that the flashback is almost over and we’re going back to the strawhats
Wocks
they're free to drop out
and then u look here and everyone is celebrating that its over
Wavy W Webec
Xebec has to be one of the most overwanked character in recent times
We will purge the non-believers.
Niggas can’t fathom a hype and aura character is popular lol
I've noticed that people who have been following the series longer appreciate it more tho 🤔
(Not me tho I only caught up with Wano)
It's just neat. The lore is neat, the characters are neat, the event is neat.
There are some critiques I have but its not anything crazy
like I wish we got to see a bit more
but its fine, we got good stuff anyway
meh, it's fine i guess
Oda is on the endgame grind to finish the series sooner rather than later.
he knows he's getting older
No time to die
Yeah I don't think he really wants to stay in GV for a long time, hes just going through the main beats
People point out easily fixable things as why the show can't work. Just imply longer travel time between islands, hence aging. The real problem is keeping all these actors in the show for 20 years
it's so unnecessary to place God Valley here
getting GV out the way now is a good thing
in the middle of Elbaph
it makes sense why we have GV tbh
there is Domi reversi going on in GV
and we are dealing with allat rn
it makes perfect sense
like everything about elbaf kinda screamed god valley flashback
it would've made sense if we would've only gotten the parts where Harald interacted with Xebec yeah
i'm confident oda put GV here to bring it back around to both current Loki and the fact Imu is in Elbaf.
we are gonna learn some stuff on how the SH can win
Give me Harald
The god valley flashback makes me think we are going to get a Garp arc soon
I am much more interested in him than Rocks as of now
I'm guessing we don't have time for a Garp arc unless it's an Ace-MF style rescue arc. But even that is a theory that feels like time wasting when we have more important things to get to.
I'm confident he put it here because he needs to sorting out plot points
Oda realised its the prefect opportunity to go through GV rn and just get it out the way
Xebec just feels shallow, lol
nah god valley made sense even before the rocks harald thing
"hey, here is your new hype man!"
he has tons of depth already tbh
Fucking fat bb ruining my goat introduction

i'm genuine when i say this, this isn't just be a contrarian
rocks is great but he's pretty shallow and it's why a flashback fits him
i genuinely find Xebec to be a shallow "cool" character
like there's no denying he is cool, but what is he more?
you dont need depth for a character who only appears for like 20 chapters
i expected way more from Xebec
It's going to show us how to counter the regeneration, which will be applied in the present
especially after this humongus build up
We haven't gotten the pay off yet
the agenda has already succeeded
The duality of man
It will crash
He's a dead guy in a flashback, who was strong, hates the injustice of the world order and loves his family. That's a good amount for a temporary character
it's not even over yet
what pay off will there be atp?
What if he goes out in the coolest way possible like whitebeard
The conclusion of his character when he dies
And he cements his status as a permanent goat
We on the right side of history
there's like no possible scenario where I'll change my stance on Xebec just being a cool character rn
At the conclusion of this flashback
cause he doesnt need it
what will he do at his death which will revolutionize his character?
Rocks gonna dance naked for 40 years to save Ivankov. That's where he's been
Oda saw sung Jin woo and said bet
They think he only has hype moments and aura
I can do it but better
what else does he have?
Don’t compare rocks to that bum
he does have this but he is also written well
He has a family
Cant wait for Rocks to twerk for Gunko
Its gonna be so peak
Oh nice Rocks hating time?
You cannot change a haters mind
He also had a rough breakup with Harald
Comradery, familial love, legacy etc.
i'm not even hating on him
💔
Aite penny and brach at the same time?
Time to switch topics
Don’t get so cocky penny
couldn't even let him be the villain he was made up to be
not much of a legacy
Im saying
Why did Imu want Vivi?
Shes a nefertari
Rocks is just a cool fella with insane ambitions and the power to kind of see those ambitions through arguably.
And she looks like lily
BB gonna be a pretty big legacy, also apparently everyone over 40 has a relationship with him
He likes girls with big foreheads
yes he is a cool guy
but that's all
He really is Oda
if it's not the incel route, there could be something in her bloodline
If you thought he was gonna be what Sengoku said you don't read OP
Imu is not an incel
Lily was the forest god
Else he would kidnapped Shakky
yeah but those same people always talk about how great roger was. they dont even talk about rocks
i mean i certainly was expecting him be a proper villain, the worst of the worst
Or gloriosa
Rocks more than anything was charasmatic. it was flowing from him when he would talk to Harald.
True
What if he doesn’t like Shakky?
Also it’s a common theme in stories
the thought of a pirate who was so cruel that even other pirates cowered below him was the coolest idea
but instead Oda made it a friend group, lol
Ganon and Zelda
Imu can’t literally be an incel anyway he can have so many woman he’s the king of the world
Gloriosa or boa
What if he doesn’t like either?
I genuinely think the only out for Oda at this point is for someone here to have Puddings fruit, how do none of these currently active characters remember GV or Rocks
What if he likes hard buff men
probably has eyes only for vivi and titi
What if he likes hairy women?
Is he gonna use vivis body to get men
TWIN
What if he looks lunarian woman?
I like that Rocks is morally ambiguous
That would be a funny gag

Arent they probably dead
Aanyone who thinks he not getting domi'd is coping
they do remember but for some reason they thought roger was the man

you mean like almost every pirate out there
King is in his 30s so theres probably some still around
Unc
Yes
Yea he’s like 36-37
Oda loves making every character middle aged
Domi Reversi'd Rocks sucks ass but it's what I'm expecting at this point
The smell of bonfire is therapy
The main reason is Oda didn't think of Rocks yet, but I wonder if there will be an in story one
that would make it even worse, considering the cut-away dialogue we'd get
it's either Rocks getting Domi'd or Roger and Garp because they lack the conqueror's haki to withstand it (or did Oda show them with conq already in this flashback?)
Probably the first one
there would be no intrigue between the conversations it would just be
"Woah what happened Xebec, how did he turn into this monster..!"
They should have conquers arp
Oda is killing me with all these breaks bruh
Can't have sweet innocent angel Rocks doing anything evil by himself
Roger and Garp getting domi'd may affect their memories of God Valley too
He broke baby Lokis leg
True
I'm expecting that, rocks trying to kill dragon and shanks as revenge or rocks roger and garp teaming up against imu
Sorry that’s not enough for you penny
idk what to tell you tbh. We don't even know how many chapters are left. I think it's kinda wild that we haven't seen his story conclude but you've decided your perception of him can't be changed as though Oda can't throw us curveballs
Maybe thats why he chooses not to speak on it, he was controlled
I know you like characters that kill children with a straight face
Do any of yall think Baby Loki would beat current Hajrudin
It is enough for me but not for most fans
He stabbed kid Loki
He could probably high diff him
Oda gave the illusion via WG propaganda that Rocks was pure evil. Was that it to a T? or am I misremembering?
i just have a hard time of seeing anything make him more interesting
He’s done plenty evil
Do you think baby Loki could beat Machvise?
the Davy clan stuff was already kinda stupid imo
He’s done evil shit but you niggas worry about the wrong things
How it feels being a Rocks hater
especially considering that the World Government should know that Blackbeard is a member
So it dont matter

I’m the mouse
''no depth 🥀''
That's auraful
Sometimes I hate all of you
which makes it all the more strange that his name got erased from history
Anyway
TRUTH NUKE
I don't know if he has. Even his supposed attacks of organizations and towns, etc. may have been corrupt based on the initial group he attacked knowing they were corrupt. The two things about him that can make you directly question his morals is his two attacks on Loki and the fact he wants to usurp Imu.
"Depth" and he's like a puddle deep
wow he has a friend and a family
You ain’t gotta like it cuz the hood gon love it
Vohaha
Rebecca has more depth than this, lol
Gunko stabbing Colon in the neck was auraful im so sorry
Most one piece characters aren’t really over flowing in depth
We also see him being more vicious than was needed in the davy back games
Rocks is a good character I would say
history is decided by the victors, one of the oldest "policies" of mankind
He decapitated a guy lol
Rocks deadass cut someone's head off in the davy back and blew up the other boat in the donut race
Oda isn't hiding he's a bad guy
The problem is Oda doesn't focus on any of that
Rocks has enough depth to make him an enjoyable character to read about. Pretty simple and to the point.
Except attacking Loki
Yea with an axe
some fans love to hide that
are you sure about the former?
i need a panel
-
If you see it happen, it's really on you to internalize that
-
This kinda goes to what I said to Brachy but I'm sure that's on purpose and we'll see that with the conclusion of his character
Croc committed genocide and we're all cool with him because he saved Luffy in the war. Characters can be evil and likable
Huh? Really?
Does each Davy Back Fight come with its own stipulations and rules to how you have to "defeat" an opponent?
Rocks has done bad shit yall just ignore and whine because he’s cool
Thats really it
chop chop
Yall wanna hate a character simply because everyone likes him
Yasopp sneaked Barto's crew and Shanks was like "ok" the only true good character in One Piece is Kuma and look at what happened to him
It's funny how in their final moments whitebeard , big mom , and kaido all talked about roger but didn't really mention their old captain rocks at all
like i said i don't hate Xebec
He hasn't done anything that bad grading on a pirate curve. But pirates are generally bad yes
i just don't find him as intriguing as some do
I really want that but with the way he's been handled I kinda lost hope
Rocks is the most controversial character of all time
Yoo nash cool pfp
I dont think anyone is genuinely denying Rocks did horrible shit. But there is still depth etc about him since he can be seen as a major catalyst for current events to this day.
oh my god
My issue is more people glazing meat riding and saying Rocks is the goodest guy ever
thanks
Again, I'm not sure how much "evil" Rocks had done nor how much it matters to his overall character and goals.
Specifically Ohara
yeah he has enough depth for a character who's only gonna be in focus for 20 ish chapters
Shuron you have to admit Oda has been doing a whole lot more of telling and not showing with the bad stuff he's done
He just took his hat off
Im tempted to believe Rocks is morally gray as a character but at the same time, not really.
oh damn i completely missed this. that's some grade-A pirate behavior
He's like kid levels of bad. But more successful
Do not talk about him without his attorney present
And I think it's worth internalizing why that's the case
Also i dont understand why yall want rocks to be evil so bad
Its actually kinda cool how we experienced the WG propaganda the way the average joe in universe does
I'm still confused on what bro is doing here
most of the pirates are "good" to some extent atp
tbf, he is "evil". Just not to the extent that the WG is making it out to be.
having a bad evil pirate would've been cooler
Decapitated a guy with an axe
BECAUSE ITS MORE INTERESTING THATS WHY
Rocks is def evil but he's not WG evil
He also blew up the other ship in the donut race
no one is WG evil, lol
Ohh ok thanks for clarifying
i think shuron's theory was that rocks appearing not that bad was intentional as a contrast to something later, but i really cant see that being the case now
ngl I can't wait to see what toei does with this one, given that they didn't even ripped half of WB head off
It's just weird ass presentation for a guy who wants to replace Imu
He and the WG employed the same tactics when entering Elbaph: Hurting children
i dont think he even does want to at this point
as soon as i saw Xebec talk about his wife and kid i knew he wouldn't be "evil" lol
he might just want to take down imu
he said he wants 'the world' right? but then he also calls imu the world
He literally tells us that he doesn't care for the lives of anyone on Me Valley except Eris and Teach, and the text was bolded, but you guys are just ignoring all that implies
Oda is doing his absolutely hardest to make Xebec likable and genuinely admirable
Rocks aint own no slave children and doesn't intend to
🛶 🔫 🪨
i don't think he'll just flip it
He says he wants to be king of the world too
They're in love
feels like everything around him has just been implications and hearsay
Text like this is bolded when you're meant to pay attention to it
Needs to be king of the world so his family can live in peace
And you guys just..,aren't
Be so fr Shuron
You know damn well that’s not comparable lol
the most stupid thing from this flashback imo, is that they knew of the Davy clan being passed down through Teach and yet they haven't done shit to persue him?
This will always be the thing I focus on. I don't know if this is supposed to be innocent places and people that Rocks targeted or not. On the surface you would think so, but it's also so unbelievably strange that the only organization we see Rocks and crew messing up was an organization BM knew was corrupt (of which the corrupt individuals admitted to in the chapter). I assume all of this still happened as it's the narrator saying it and not some Marine higher up like Sengoku.
I think we have had plenty of just plain evil pirates
I think rocks is one of the few potentially morally grey ones
yes of course xebec doesnt care about what happens to the other people on god valley, why would he
hes not a hero
He's a wanted pirate...
They were evil civilians it was justified

Rocks had a right to defend himself
im expecting that he might do really wild things to protect his wife and kid, to pay off on like the "I dont care about the rest" but I think thats just true of most parents
tbf there were probably more evil people on God Valley than good ones since all the innocents are probably dead by now
yes, so instead of cutting him down they do business with him
Alright man, when Rocks starts doing stuff that endangers the lives of innocent people, just don't be surprised
did they always know that?
Some people are saying each of the 3 worlds in the Harley were 3 people in Imus position. The Imu figure, The Dragon, and the Snake. Maybe the position is important and necessary and Rocks was trying to create the 4th world
the world government really aren't the brightest
you misunderstand, thats what i want the most out of him
I think a lot of parents would endager innocent people to protect their children
Oh you know that they knew then?
ill be very pleased if i see that
"if"
Clearly they don’t know that teach is Davy
i cant share the same faith you have in oda unfortunately
i think it's an safe assumption no?
That's the thing, I have no idea (unless that was a sarcastic response then lol) at the end of the day. Either Oda wants us to read between the lines or he meant for this to show Rocks was a bastard through and through. Either answer is a possibility though I personally think that from all I've seen of Rocks, it would be him targeting the corrupt.
Or they knew very recently
No
its a bit annoying we havent really seen this king of the world thing come up again
They know that today
Did they know that 2 years ago?
Probably not
Yeah
I think Rocks will go full mask off upon seeing Imu
i think they probably did know
He’s getting that job
I don’t think they knew until maybe after he left the warlords
maybe they did maybe they didnt
now that gunko isnt around imu he can finally fight
what job?
🪦
this is the main panel (again, aside from Loki attacks) that should make you question his morals. Why does he want to take Imu's throne? Does he just want to rule the weak like Kaido? Does he think he can do a better and more righteous job than Imu? Does he just want to replace Imu and exploit the world and own slaves, etc?
Please warn us before you start discussing about those j words
Xebec died, so i'm afraid not
I would like to think the WG is slightly competent
What j word
im assuming we'll get another flashback for xebec showing his motivation
The entire point of Teach moving like this was probably so they WOULDN'T know he was a Davy
wait. please no.
or he just explains it here in this one
its probably some sort of revenge for the Davy Clan
Most of the time they are their own worst enemy
it just being a simple revenge/avenge plot is so boring
The world govt is stupid
He wants to be king of the world so he can make sure every stray puppy is adopted
Yucky
i still think the World Government would know given that they saw Xebec protect Teach on God Valley
that's a good reason and I can agree with it. but what does he want to do with this power outside simply revenge? once he's gotten his revenge, what then?

How in the world would they know that baby is Teach
Nobody was like this during Egghead wtf
cmon sb you know thats not true
he's gonna behead Boa's bloodline
They turned his grandpa and great grandma into demons, killed his father and his mother ?
And the revenge is yucky ?
you were there for how discussion was like around the broadcast
The Oda disbelievers came out full force after Wano ended
Teach is absolutely justified to crash out on imu
I dont think it's revenge as much as just wanting to change the world in a way that benefits the davy clan
That dumbass 2 year old does NOT remember his grandparents
Blackbeard better have something more planned than just "muhaha revenge"
Blackbeard being solely motivated by a desire for revenge is booty butt cheeks, yes
apparently babies in one piece are built different
OK besides the broadcast didnt everyone like Egghead
Penny doing anything to discredit teach
Garp's just the GOAT unlike bozo Rocks
It's probably to fulfill or finish what Rocks started. Their goals are more or less the same after all.
I was mad over the Kidd stuff
Took too long
blackbeard's motivation probably (hopefully?) isnt revenge considering hes doing a similar thing to what the WG did
if Blackbeard motivation is just revenge, it would be so sad
Stays to work in an organization that commits genocide every 3 years for the next 40 years
the goat
Pick one
I'm on the revenge train for BB until more info comes out. His ship is the "Saber of Xebec" and he wants "The World."
i doubt that Blackbeard is the final villain
He’s gotta be
Unless he says they stopped doing the hunting game post gv
Revenge is too noble for bb
He’s been built up the entire show
im so hyped for shrigmo, the force controlling imu from above
it would be a massive fumble to throw all of the 800 year intrigue away for a revenge story
I used to think Imu was the final villain. But the flashback has changed my opinion to BB.
Garp only genocides the ones that deserve it, because that's how GOAT he is
The last lunarian
He was here way before imu
Way way way before
I wouldn’t be shocked if Imu is dealt with this arc
Imu is still leagues more important to the general history of the world, even if Blackbeard was introduced before
I like the way you think, but Dragon isn't here yet
Imu has been the overshadowing threat since day 1, even if we didn't know it back then
Brother
Narratively he's tied to the history of the world
Imu wasn’t foreshadowed in the first chapter
shrigmo jobs to gorilla D. Fluffy tho
Which both luffy and bb will topple
this arc for sure dragon arrives
it does mean a lot, considering that the whole history is about Joyboy against Imu atp
Nika against oppression etc
And the Davy clan now
BB was there before Imu, but I think after 1000 chapters it started to wane for me, especially after Imu was introduced. I was confident Oda was gonna sidestep BB for Imu (while keeping BB a laugh tale opponent). Now with the Rocks flashback, i'm more confident than ever that BB is the final villain.
i don't think they'll play as big of a part as you believe
I understand if revenge is one component of his motivations. It’s only reasonable. However, I’d like Teech to retain a level of distinctiveness, and stripping all of his intrigue back to just a glorified revenge scheme would be a lot more boring than having him retain character qualities that allow him to feel like a character who functions completely on his own, without Xebec and God Valley being the sole battery in his back
The Davy thing was a fucking nuclear bomb
To people thinking teach wouldnt be important
Nuclear bomb of shit
I wonder what garp is going to do now . He's seeing this attrocity for the first time , so maybe this moment could inspire him to create the sword organization . The next few decisions he makes within this flashback could be crucial to how people perceive him as a character.
Blackbeard embodies a kind of freedom, just like Luffy
while Imu embodies oppression to the highest degree, compeltely opposite to both of them
Notice how Oda is fine with revealing Imu's powers now
It was mad funny watching people scramble trying to explain it away
Imu being revealed more and more is a bad sign tbh
Then the next 2 chapters the world line happened
Why are you guys talking about Teach's motivations potentially being solely revenge as though we don't already know he's motivated by insatiable greed
I refuse to believe there was a group of people who thought this but you’re probably right
i just find it boring really
But...we already know this won't be the case
You see it happens sometimes, its usually people reading with their eyes closed
greed and revenge fits him sure, but it's really boring to replace the 800+ intrigue that Imu has built up
Mfers think he has only one reason even though there's 3 voices in his head
We already have a motivation that isn't revenge
No one thought Teach was unimportant
Greed and revenge are two different things
Teach being solely revenge is already off the table
Why would you be worried about that
they are different, but they're both more or less boring imo
You can be seeking revenge and greedy
Teach only wanting to be king of world to satiate his greed, is like... eh
These aren't mutually exclusive
Rather than sole, even revenge being the most primary motivating factor for his actions throughout the story is just not that exciting
i don't like it
Yeah if Teach ends up seeking revenge that's literally another facet being added to him
actually hold on, God Valley's status as an island is still technically unknown since even tho its no longer on maps in the present OP world, it was never said if the island was entirely destroyed or not as of now from that battle royale
¯_(ツ)_/¯
You guys have a lot of opinions about half-baked story hypotheticals you haven't even seen executed yet
you can also just want to finish what someone else started without it being a revenge thing
I think there might be some differences only because BB just seems to be so much less than his father, in a bad/evil way - which might affect how he would be if he took over Imu's position. But it seems that with "inherited will" as a strong theme in the series, BB being vengeance focused (look at the horror in his eyes when he was the CDs as a child) on Imu and the CDs makes sense. Even if it's simply revenge, I trust Oda to execute it well.
i'm just not excited for Teach, Davy or Xebec in general
i don't know why really
i just don't find the intrigue in them
Teach and the Davy thing is exciting as hell
Bb is a believer of fate
Specially as a bb fan
This is just a description of week to week discussions
to some yeah, but not to me
Blackbeard storming mariejois be like :
Shame
Which have been pretty bad the past few years, that's for sure
We get it bro you dont like one piece💔
alot of Xebec's actions can technically be seen as one of the main catalysts for many of the current events that occurred in recent times in the OP world, thats what I find intriguing at least.
Maybe you'll see our point of view one day and enjoy the Davy reveal too
Honestly after this backstory he might be up there, i hope its dragon tho
But it's also hard for me to just call BB "evil" fully. I know he had slaves which is awful enough, but he also clearly is a big believer in dreams and I wonder if he just has a reallly corrupt concept of justice due to his possible desire for revenge.
I've been thinking he's going to use BB as the "traitor" of the D clan, with the idea being he's the embodiment of an inherited will that's been twisted over time due to misconceptions built up over time
Dragon bouta beat the shit outta shamrock
This backstory making me think more and more that it's gonna be blackbeard up there
I mean he was sentenced to death as a child, why not be evill
I think you guys get a little too invested in how you feel about beats just existing without regard for how a beat being good or bad depends on how the author does it
sure, but then we have Imu is the literaly catalyst for why they world is like it is and has been for over decades
is it a primamry factor? is it even a factor?
Probably how he sees it
I forget, did Oda mention a "traitor" in the D clan? Was it in Egghead or some other arc?
"Revenge is boring" as though two revenge stories can't be WILDLY different is just
beats ?
Yea
You're setting yourself up to dislike something regardless of how good it actually is
I think it was a theory during Egghead when Vegapunk got cut off but idk exactly
albeit in the end, I actually want the flashback to conclude soon because there's something else I want Oda to get into, and its Gunko and Brook's relationship since this is the first time we got a major piece of Brook's past prior to his piracy career, out of everyone in the crew, Brook's the only one with no major backstory prior to his pirate career. Basically the most mysterious member now.
Story beats. Tropes, narrative devices, all that jazz
ohhh ok
I think you're just fucking yourself over with a mindset like "revenge story isn't interesting"
Its forced
tbvh I agree
More isn't always better, I think this would make his motivation weaker
How does it make his motivation weaker to add another facet to it?
How does that make sense?
Imo almost any narrative trope can be done well if it's executed in the right way
It probably won't be Tarantino levels of good, but I trust Oda to execute it well.
All of them can be There's no bad trope. Just bad writing
imagine not getting excited over the fact we are gonna see Davy D Jones in the future lol
i'm just comparing what we have for Teach and Imu and in the end i just find it more interesting with Imu's side of it
honestly, revenge stories are often very cliche and often the same and not that original so its understandable that alot aren't really into the trope or kind of storyline.
I think with enough context the revenge arc works. And so far we got some compelling context that will probably be further built upon with the inevitable BB flashback
Imu holds much more mystique and lore compared to Blackbeard imo
This is the funniest fucking thing for me lmao. We are going to get more context on Davy jones and more history on the world.
Yes and ?
Blackbeard has more lore actually
Bb aint get his full story yet
i just find that more interesting personally
That doesn't really guarantee anything st this point
tbf i am kinda sick of nepo piece
We’re just now finding out about his father
but imu ONLY holds mystique because we know so little about them - mystique for mystique's sake can only work for so long. we need the ancient kingdom flashback to see if Imu lives up to the greatness we've built in our minds.
Relation ≠ nepotism
Revenge could be interesting for blackbeard as long as it doesn't just engulf / flanderize his character entirely, which I doubt would happen
we know iM has more mystique etc, but at the same time, Blackbeard's motivations have been the catalyst for major story implications in the past 2 years to the present day like Ace's death and the collapse of Whitebeard's crew.
Like tae said teach keeps getting more lore and context, the same thing for any other important character. The world chabged drastically in the last 2 years due to teach
I agree with that everyone being related does make the world feel a bit smaller
Blackbeard is responsible for Shanks and Whitebeard meeting, Shanks and Kaido clashing, the very first Impel Down break in and mass Impel Down breakout, the Warlord meeting, the Marineford war, the deaths of Whitebeard, Ace and Little Oars Jr, Jozu losing his arm, Kuzan leaving the Navy, Sengoku and Garp retiring, Akainu becoming Fleet Admiral, and Navy HQ being moved into the New World
Devil fruits are supposed to be rare and its like 100+ devil fruit users
Alive currently
All those things happened because Blackbeard decided to steal the Yami Yami from Thatch
I think it was always gonna end up going back to the D. And Now davy
But I'm not bothered by it much
Oh, and the SHs taking the two year timeskip
All that wouldn't have happened if Blackbeard didn't kill Thatch
damn what an insane domino
Blackbeard is a bigger contributer to the story as we experience it than Imu has
wonder how Thatch would've wielded the yami yami if he ate it
Imu has been mostly background
which we can then basically also trace back to the God Valley incident which then creates a multi-decade long domino effect ¯_(ツ)_/¯
i don't want to ascribe too much of that to BB. i guess technically the Jozu thing is correct, but that was ultimately Aokiji
Although everyone being related makes the world feel smaller I feel like people are overexaggerating it. Also I feel like it's kinda realistic like the real world
Jozu and Kuzan wouldn't have been fighting that day if Blackbeard didn't kill Thatch
Domino effect
i still just don't find Blackbeard interesting
Teach's influence on the story is staggering
#nextarc 🤫
the most interesting revelation will be why he can eat 2 fruits imo
Only character brave enough to denounce roger and whitebeard
no sure I agree. I just don't want to take responsibility away from aokiji either.
it is imo
i fail to find other interesting parts about his character
Pretty much the entire discussion, yeah. We don’t know and I’m just explaining that I could potentially dislike the implications if Teech was motivated primarily by something like wanting to avenge Xebec and the Davy Clan, because right now I like the idea of him remaining a character who feels entirely self-interested
even if you dont find Blackbeard as interesting, its undeniable that he's the main reason why alot of story implications occurred
It ain't anymore after the Davy thing
