And there was a reasoning to why he called Shirahoshi a coward, it was because he was reminded of his old self and how he was called coward by Ace for crying so he stopped. He called Shirahoshi coward since she cries too much, in that way he thought she would do the same as him and stop crying. It hasn't worked effectively but its kind of still been working slowly by slowly and she doesn't cry as often, and Luffy realizes that and starts calling her Yowahowshi as respect, slowly inching towards her actual name. And she noticed that Luffy called her that and she got happy. At the end she even promises to stop crying in order to become emotionally stronger.||
